Guest Reviews
- Danijela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Praveen (1/5): Nightmare Experience: Avoid Domus Mara in Rome for Unhygienic Conditions and Hostile Tactics! - My friend and I stayed at Domus Mara in Rome, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. The host greeted us with hostility, accusing us of only booking for one guest when we had clearly booked for the entire place. Despite paying for a week in advance, he demanded an extra 10% on top of the city tax, which we AGREED to despite his aggressive behaviour.
A few hours later, he called back to say he had cancelled our original booking and made a new one, significantly increasing the price (much more than 10%). He blamed this on our failure to specify that there were two guests. After a lengthy and frustrating argument, I ended up paying the excessively high amount he demanded... because I had no other options and didn't want to lose the money I'd already paid. The host even threatened to throw us out if we didn't pay more than initial price we agreed on.
The nightmare didn’t end there. The place itself was disgusting. The pictures online looks good, but this place is filthy:
- There was dust everywhere.
- The shower was clogged, and every time we used it, disgusting hair and debris from previous tenants floated up (look at the picture).
- The neighbourhood is not pleasant, with constant noise at night. I even saw a couple of pickpockets lurking around the area. It does not seem safe for families.
- The hot water stops after 5-6 minutes of using the shower.
We had to wait for a couple hours before the boiler heated up again.
- The place had a terrible smell throughout.
In summary, the host is only focused on extorting more money from guests, adjusting charges, and threatening. The accommodation is disgusting, especially the bathroom, and the location is unsafe.
Rome is an amazing place!
However, avoid this place at all costs. The host has no interest in providing a good experience and employs manipulative, corporate tactics to exploit guests.
- Mateusz (10/5): Exceptional - Very good contact with the owner. The apartment is well-kept and properly equipped. Very good location - close to the metro, shops and restaurants.
- Cinzia (10/5): Just like home - This is one of our best stays via Booking.com.
- The apartment is specious, comfortable, and clean. All amenities are provided. Kitchen is well supplied for a short stay for those who wish to relay on their own cooking. Or at least coffee.
- Location is excellent, only few minutes to MA Ponte Lungo metro station, the apartment is well connected with all major tourist sites.
- Hosts are extremely kind. Although internet was not initially included, when I asked, Roberto provided free of charge. I lost my backpack in a buss and they were very kind to contact the carrier and try to find it for me.
Short or long, business or pleasure, this is a great place to stay. Thank you.
