Guest Reviews
- Eugenie (9/5): Lovely spot in Flores - We loved staying in Casa Nicté in Flores, such a great location and really lovely staff who were very patient with our broken Spanish! The kitchen, water and fans were greatly appreciated. Thank you Pablo and Jhonatan for being such great hosts :)
- Joshua (8/5): Very good -
- Esme (8/5): Very good - Good location, near the park and close to other popular spots. Not all rooms have a/c. Heat was manageable with the fans.
- Mohamed (8/5): Very good - Nice central location, staff were friendly & helpful
- Barbara (7/5): Good -
- Tanita (4/5): Location is good, but needs a AC unit in the room - The staff were lovely and helpful! Helped us organise a Tikal Sunrise Tour. There is access to a kitchen and fridge, however we didn’t need to use it during our stay.
We arrived and there was no toilet roll and the room was VERY hot. There was a ceiling fan, and we asked for a second fan, which was kindly provided, however the room itself was unbearably hot which meant we couldn’t sleep much.
The location is really good, with access to everything a short walk away.
- Clémence (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - The cat was very cute, shower and toilet were clean, room was comfortable. The host even offered to take us to the airport in his motorcycle! We were next to a church where we saw locals praying and walking outside our window for the pre-Easter processions.
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (7/5): Good - Property was in a great location! Staff were good and very helpful The room gets very hot, but they gave us an extra fan to use
- Amanda (9/5): Highly recommend staying here! - The staff here is incredible. I was sick and they let me stay in my room until 3pm. I booked a room with my own bathroom, but the bathroom is outside of the room, down the hall,l just FYI!
- Ashlee (7/5): Good cheap stay - Good cheap stay. I think they’re working on doing it up maybe? Parts of the wall in the reception area were being painted. Rooms were big, bed was comfortable. Host Jhonatan was lovely and other staff were lovely too.
We had issues with the shower head and it was fixed the next day, as with the hot water. Bathroom was very small and pokey. The kitchen was dirty and old. Dish cloths and sponges that looked like they’ve never been changed. Very warm in the room, even with the ceiling fan.
- Olle (9/5): Great host, place and location. Liked it! -
- Douglas (3/5): Poor - Our reservation stated a room with a private bathroom. We ended up with a shared bathroom. It rained that night and we would get wet walking to the bathroom.
- Aleksandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (5/5): Passable - Bathroom wall wasn't a wall at all. Could see the common area from the toilet
- Irving (10/5): Exceptional - Pablo and his parter are great host, they were always very helpful and very nice to everyone. The place is also really well located The warm water had some problems
- Jennifer (3/5): Stayed 2 times, 1 good & 1 really bad - Staff were having a party so we could not sleep!
We stayed two nights here. The first in the better room with AC and privat toilet was good, and the guy that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. Night staff was a bit loud, but it was fine.
We like the place and booked it again for another night a few days later. Wasn't to found of the room we got, but it was late and we decided to stay any way. Also the guy that checked us in the second time was very friendly.
But... The second night was in a room next to the street. The window/door towards the street (a big crack) couldn't close properly and you could hear everything from the street. It is a quite street so should not be any problem. If it wasn't for some of the people that was working there were staying up late - sitting outside our room, smoking cigarettes&weed, drinking and playing musik and chatting very loudly. We tried to speak to them about being too loud and that we couldn't sleep, and later knocked on the wall when it got to loud, but it didn't help at all. As they stayed up for the whole night we couldn’t sleep at all, the party stopped at 7am, but that’s was when we left the place without any sleep at all.
It's pretty bad when the staff keep you awake cause they are having a some kind of a party
- Mark (7/5): Short Stay - Fine for a night, basic, clean private room with own bathroom which was outside of the room but you get a key for it so it’s yours, location is good but anywhere you stay in Flores is, it’s such a small island, not a lot to do, staff were friendly and helpful via google translate, I would say it’s overpriced for what you get but I found most places in Flores are like that.
- Ibo (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (8/5): Good price / quality - It’s really well located, and they were really friendly All good given that it is cheap
- Jens (10/5): Exceptional - very friendly staff
- Danila (5/5): Ok for short stay - Location Room and toilet were very run-down, nothing like the pictures. Too pricey for what you get
- Wanderinggrouch (10/5): Exceptional - - good location
- Jhon was incredible - organised many things for us and was so kind.
- hot water!!
- Victoria (7/5): Basic hostel on the island of Flores. Good value for money. - Basic hostel in Flores. We went there for one night in between two travel days (arrived in the evening - left early in the morning). I think we were the only ones staying at the hostel that night. The room was large and the bathroom was clean. The bed is small (like in most hostels in Guatemala). Our stay in the hostel was very cheap (30 euro for private room with ensuite bathroom) so the value for money was definitely good. The common place was a bit messy (I think they were working on the building or something).
- Povilas (8/5): It was a nice stay - Great location, nice helpful staff, had air conditioning in the room
- Lauren (6/5): Pleasant - The room itself was spacious and clean. The location was great and the wifi worked well. The windows in the room were paper thin and led to the court yard. There was building work taking place and always people in the small court yard on their phones loudly all day. So wasn't very private or comfortable. The kitchen was always messy and I felt uncomfortable to try to use it.
- Hila (1/5): Bad -
- Mallo (8/5): Very good - It's very well located and the staff is very helpful and nice. The bathroom in the dorm is so so tiny and old. The mattress is really old too, it killed my back.
- Afroditi (9/5): Superb - Good location, helpful staff and clean spaces
- Mallo (8/5): Cute and cheap hostal - Staff was very friendly and helpful, it's conveniently located, and very cute looking. It's food value for the price you pay. The bed mattress and pillows were really outdated, I woke up every day with back and neck pain. The dorm is quite old as well, the shower/bathroom inside is extremely tiny.
- Tine (6/5): It does the job, but you are probably not going to stay for the vibe - Owned by such a lovely family and close to everything as Flores is tiny. Did the job and nice with A/C in the room I felt like it was a bit overpriced. The room wasn't very great, though it did have the basics + a/c which is needed in Flores
- Verena (7/5): Okay - Great location, nice little place They gave away my bed the second night and there was no more staff. We sorted it out amongst ourselves but it was weird. They just moved my stuff.
- Stewart (6/5): Good little stopover with comfortable beds - Staff were lovely and very accommodating, using google translate effectively.
They quickly provided a fly zapper and spray when I asked for some assistance with mosquitos. Have to leave the doors closed (including bathroom) to avoid mosquitos getting in. They were fine during the night, once the spray and zapper had been used.
- Freddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (7/5): Good -
- Wood (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): A wonderful place to stay in Flores - Beautiful large space. Lovely and quiet. Lovely bathroom. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. Allowed us to relax on the communal area the following day while we waited for our night bus. Would highly recommend. This didn’t bother me as we had our own, but they do not provide towels. Also, if you are looking for a party hostel, this is not it. However, close proximity to everywhere so you can absolutely join the party from here.
- Nat (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, friendly staff, free water. You felt like you were staying in someone's house, which is great for a homestay but a bit odd when it's a hostel. Moreover, felt a bit like we were invading as opposed to being welcomed in. Kitchen was a tip, air con didn't really work despite paying extra for it, also no lockers.
- Veronica (9/5): Good stay! - AC in the private room (essential in the June heat), great location, comfy beds, staff were nice a bit noisy during the night when other guests were in the courtyard, kitchen wasn't the best but did the job
- Sharna (9/5): Superb - Staff are sooooo friendly and wil help you with anything. Genuine people with genuine smiles :) Also loved the kitchen, lots of equipment and the coffee is great too!! It’s very hot!
- Faidutti (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Pleasant stay with nice common area and kitchen. Dorms were comfy. - Great location, nice facilities, common area, kitchen and staff. There were lots of fans available but it was hot.
- Allouche (6/5): Pleasant - chep not cleaning
very warm at the doorms, the fan aren't strong enough, bugs in the shower and in the toilet
- Ezequiel (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Well, I really loved the room the staff was really nice and the place in amazing location. Literally the best hostel I have ever been!
- Gaia (7/5): Good - Super nice, helpful staff Way too hot in the room
- Jaime (6/5): To hot to sleep - Cute atmosphere and basic facilities. It was ridiculously hot at night and the power went out at 11pm until the morning. I was unable to sleep, and had to move to the foyer to keep cool and slept on a drenched towel.
- Jolyn (7/5): Really satisfied with my stay apart from the heat in the room - Flores island is really tiny so it’s just 5-6 minutes walk from the shuttle drop off point (I love Petén sign) to the hostel. There’s a small kitchen with 4 gas hobs + fridge + coffee machine + clean plates and utensils + spices. Refillable water provided. The family helps to wash the dishes for us which is really nice. There are 2 shared toilets outside and a shower, and they’re clean. Bed was clean and decent but I didn’t have a good sleep because it was toooooo hottttttt in the room There’s an attached toilet/shower in my dorm room with 3 beds but it’s really cramped and no door (only a curtain) so I used the toilet/shower outside. There is NO aircon in the hostel. Flores is veryyyyyy hot (it was 42 degrees celsius in the day and 30 at night) and when I returned to the hostel at night, it was like an oven. The courtyard was cooler because it’s open air but inside the room, it was really really really hotttttt and stuffy - it lacks ventilation. There’s only one ceiling fan and a standing fan that can’t rotate. Another traveler let me have the fan (blowing hot air) otherwise I really couldn’t sleep but he was also suffering from the heat :x It rained the next day so it wasn’t as hot in the room but still, would be good to have more fans/ ventilation/ aircon.
- Anne-lise (10/5): Best people you'll meet in Guatemala. Definitely recommend! - They are the sweetest people I've met in Guatemala! They are always smiling and ready to help you with your traveling plan in Flores and Guatemala in general. The place is really clean, you get a fresh towel and they have a (paid) laundry service if you need it. The hostel is situated in a quiet area while 3min away from everything you might need. I definitely recommend staying at Casa Nicte 😊 Nothing
- Iga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alistair (9/5): Superb -
- Lina (9/5): Great hostel, can recommend! - I loved my stay at Casa Nicté! The guys were really friendly and always made sure that I was comfortable. This is actually the first hostel I've been to where the dishes are done for you which is a huge plus for me personally. The ambiance was very great too, and I loved the hostel cat, though she can be quite vocal. The Wifi was also quite good! The only downside were the bathroom doors. They had holes in them, for ventilation I guess. You couldn't see through them as they were slanted, but it didn't feel very private nonetheless. But other than that, it really is a very cute hostel and for the low price it exceeded expectations.
- Eline22 (10/5): Perfect stay in Flores - Nice hostel, very friendly staff, clean dorm & bathrooms & kitchen! Nothing
- Nava (9/5): Superb -
- Palina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place. Very relaxing and exactly what you needed. Staff were so helpful and made our experience great. Nice cat is always a bonus too. Couldn't recommend enough
Free water and coffee Nothing
- Johnny57 (10/5): Great central.location in Flores - Location: close to center
Close to shore & catholic church Too short stay. Serving breakfast (for extra) would be nice
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional - Homey feel, just one room for guests. No real place to hang out and sit. A lot of “staff space” where you can’t be.
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Joanna (10/5): Jonathan the owner made us all feel like we were part of the family. It was a real home was home. - It had everything I needed. A kitchen and somewhere to wash my clothes and hang them to dry Nothing
- Betty (10/5): Exceptional - I very rarely write reviews but this hostel is great, it's very family-friendly, the owners are great and attentive, they do everything to make you feel at home!
great place! accommodation well located in the heart of the island of Flores. we stayed 3 nights in a dormitory, it was very clean! you also have access to a kitchen! go ahead without thinking
- Johannes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location is excellent. Quiet. Lovely house cat. Staff were very friendly. Nic plants. Towels provided. Wi fi ok. Blankets provided in dorm, if required.
Coffee supplied. Breakfast not included but eggs and other items available for use. No hot water in the showers. No separate wash basin for the toilets. You had to use the washing up bucket/sink used for the plates to clean your teeth etc. Unhygienic.
Faulty tap spraying water all over you.
My mattress was poor. Springs gone.
No lockers in the dorm.
The description of the patio and garden area is misleading. Small uncomfortable outdoor area, very little room to relax or eat etc..
Hardly any utensils.
Bedroom walls dirty.
Description was a/c in room but only ceiling fan in dorm. ( was ok)
By Backpacking standards its expensive for what it is.
Rated as a 7 but if could rate in halves = 6.5
- Ewa (8/5): Very good -
- Joy (10/5): Thank you! - Pablo and jonathan fabulous hosts. Great place for solo female traveler.
