Guest Reviews
- Kevin (5/5): .The staff were great. But the bed spoilt the stay - Lovely village and great atmosphere The bed was terrible and unfortunately had no sleep due to this . The shower pump was intermittent.
- Hoath (9/5): Good country pub with great food. good value for money - food good. staff very helpful and friendly. accommodation good although floor not level (very old building). location good and quiet. and we were visited by a male peacock outside our window! i got used to the non level floors.

- Julie (7/5): Cosy with friendly, welcoming staff. Very comfortable stay. - Cosy with friendly, welcoming staff. Very comfortable stay. The strong smell of stale grease on our arrival. Needs to improve fume extraction.
Needs hooks around the en-suite and on the en-suite door.
- David (10/5): Brampton hiker - Very clean, decent size room and breakfast is also included. Nice breakfast with local Cumberland sausage from local butchers.
- Michael (7/5): - Great friendly staff. It was nice to have a quiet pint and then go upstairs and sleep soundly in a quiet neighbourhood. The bathroom facilities all modern and very clean. Breakfast was one of the better ones I've had on this trip.

The location is perfect if you enjoy walking and a great pint at the end Lovely food and a great selection on the menu
- Elizabeth (10/5): We were made very welcome despite our unusual requests whilst competing on the RAC rally - We were competing on the Roger Albert Clark rally and as we had to leave too early to have breakfast on the first two days bacon sandwiches were made for our party of eight to take with us.
On our final evening when were celebrating finishing the event we had an excellent meal and staff stayed late to serve us.

- Paul (8/5): -
- ANDY (8/5): Good value nice people - Comfortable stay friendly staff. Excellent food and beer
- Marcus (6/5): Pleasant - Easy check-in. Clean comfortable room. We didn't get breakfast because we had to set off early (just before before 8am) to join an 11 mile sponsored hike, and the hotel only serves breakfast between 8-9am. It would have been good to at least offer some self service breakfast before 8am (cereal, toast, fruit, tea & coffee).
- Jon (8/5): Clean and comfortable village pub to stay, as long as you don’t want breakfast before 8am. - Clean and comfortable room and good pub grub on the evening of our arrival. Disappointed that breakfast of some description wasn’t available before 8am (we had to leave then for a long distance walk).
- Kevin (8/5): The staff were very good and friendly. The evening meal was excellentwas excellent - The food was good Bedroom could have done with the window open before we arrived as it was clean but smelt stuffy
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Hargreaves (8/5): Very good - Friendly, food was good. Breakfast was rather slow, but I would not deter anybody from visiting.
- Francois (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location fpr those looking for something outside the main towns. And you can have a few pints and simply walk up the stairs to a very comfortable bed.

- Edward (9/5): Superb -
- Jerry (9/5): Superb - Wonderful staff - welcoming and helpful. Brilliant food. The bedroom was slightly outdated although the ensuite bathroom was excellent.
- Steve (7/5): a gem (or could be) - size of room
menu
service on arrival limited choice of breakfast
out of date yoghurts
no milk available for cereals
slow service at breakfast
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Shawn (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): Friendly and comfortable, small amount of off-road parking, and clearly the centre of Talkin life! - A lovely country pub with very good choice of meals available. Lack of fresh fruit at breakfast and generally heavy, stodgy food choices. Seem to offer chips with practically everything, all carbs and fat but very little in the way of lighter and healthier food options.
- Veronika (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): A welcoming, friendly stay with good local food. - I have stayed here before and loved the friendly, quaint pub so when my husband and I planned a weekend walking in the area he suggested we stay here again. We could not fault the welcoming ambience, good wholesome food and friendliness of both staff and locals.
- Forrest (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy, delicious food, close to Brampton Golf Club (beautiful course!), friendly staff and owners. Would stay again very gladly.
- Liz (9/5): Great find along Hadrians Wall - Quirky, the peacocks !
Staff friendly
Huge portions at dinner 😂

- Craig (10/5): Great stay very cycle friendly! - Great pub.amazing food, comfy rooms. Really welcoming staff. Looked after us and our bikes. Used this as a stop on our hadrians cycle ride, perfect stopover! Good beer and will use again! Thanks so much! Nothing
- Steve (7/5): Great pub stay with modest accommodation and caring hosts - Breakfast adequate, functional but not inspired, with only basic elements offered.
Caring concern to please us all as guests Decor and room space quite dated, little extra room to relax in ensuite bedrooms, too small for much comfortable seating
- John (8/5): Very good - I had to check out before breakfast
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): A gem of a find. Delightful, friendly staff in a lovely village setting. - The staff were without exception very friendly and welcoming, and the local people hospitable also.
Breakfast was lovely, and the Cumberland sausage the best I have had in years! There wasn't a view from my room, but, I was staying overnight to sleep having spent a full day in the beautiful countryside, so in fact the lack of view was immaterial.
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- Viv (10/5): Excellent stay - As usual an excellent stay staff all brilliant Nothing not to like
- Jennifer (9/5): We were there for 2 nights room , food and staff made for a very enjoyable stay - Very friendly and efficient, good location very comfortable and the food was excellent Slight problem with temperature setting on shower
- Colin (9/5): Excellent pub - good food, great staff and very good value. - Excellent menu - dinner was very good.
- Anthony (7/5): Overall a pleasant stay, I would use again. - Bed was very comfortable and room was good without being special staff were efficient and friendly. Food was ok but not outstanding. On site Parking is limited and guests need to park on the road although the village is very quiet.
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Allan (10/5): Very enjoyable stay and great value for money - Lovely location and warm and friendly welcome. Can’t think of any thing
- Bonnie (9/5): Gorgeous location and friendly staff - The beer garden was lovely and peaceful. The staff were very friendly. The room was comfy and well appointed, and the location was really beautiful. The continental breakfast was a bit meagre--very small selection of cereals and no granola or fresh fruit. Even the jam was not so nice, as it was mostly pectin and very little fruit.
- Julie (5/5): Accommodation was fine. - Location was fine for walking Hadrians Wall but required a taxi transfer each way.
Evening meal was great. Noisy peacock outside bedroom window from early hours
Breakfast service quite slow.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catrin (10/5): Exceptional -

- Alan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (10/5): Very welcoming staff good location and food excellent will return to the Blacksmith Arms - Excellent English freshly cooked breakfast good selection of ales staff friendly and informative rooms clean good shower great selection of food in the res Nothing
- David (8/5): A good overnight stopp - Excellent typical country pub with good meals, both in the evening and at breakfast. Decor in room and bathroom were a little dated but both very clean. If you want a night away or a couple of nights to explore the area then the Blacksmiths Arms is a good place to rest your head. Tere is parking close to the pub, on the road, in a small car park and just outside on the green. However, when we arrived at 8pm on a Friday night these places were all taken and so we had to park about 150m away on a side street. This was not a real issue apart from getting wet bringing our bags in
- Michael (10/5): Very quaint accommodation. Food excellent steak and ale pie delicious. - Nice quiet village but easy access to a1
- Lindsay (9/5): coming back again says it all - a very pleasant village all good
- Glyn (8/5): Blacksmiths Arms review - Friendly helpfully staff. Lack of tables to go and enjoy a quite drink away from the afternoon sessioners.
- Barbara (8/5): Friendly B&B in beautiful part of the country - Made us very welcome, food was very good.
- Holms-sharp (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alexander (8/5): Very good - Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Excellent breakfast. Beware no food after 20.00 - it is a remote location so eat before arrival if going to be after 20.00..
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Merle (7/5): Good - I liked that they also served an evening meal.
- Karen (8/5): It was lovely, a great location, and I would go again. - Excellent breakfast, portions just right.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Christpher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (7/5): Loveley stay, other than the power cuts due to stron winds - The breakfast was good in a comfortable location. The staff were friendly and obliging. I was then able to get my bicycle out of the locked garage for overnight security. There were several power cuts during the evening/night. I was unable to find my way around the room which did not have a torch. These were apparently available at the bar, but I went to the bedroom before the first powercut.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (8/5): Excellent -
