• Rafał (8/5): - It’s very hard to rate this place. I gave it an 8 because of the location and the atmosphere. However, if it were located anywhere else, it would probably get a poor 5. If someone values living right on the beach and doesn’t mind the lack of running water in a tap, a level of cleanliness that leaves a lot to be desired, and having to climb many stairs every time they want to go anywhere, then I would recommend it.

The location was INCREDIBLE! The staff were amazing!! We actually hadn’t planned that we were going to learn to surf, but by the time we left (only 3 days) we were hooked! -on surfing and on the super cool guys that became friends and on the whole stay! We left with heavy hearts and with so much more than we had expected!! Nothing

• Marie Jornod (5/5): - Location on the beach with a dreamy view. The sound of the waves when falling asleep and waking up is magical. Comfortable bed with a mosquito net, spacious room with a mirror. Shower is fine, with soap provided. Both beach and shower towels are available. The place has so much potential — it’s such a shame it’s not being taken care of as it deserves. It’s disappointing to pay such a high price for such poor service and limited amenities (only the view and location are really worth it). Creepy vibe from the owners — I went to the reception twice to buy water, and they were staring and laughing at me, looking me up and down, talking in Indonesian to each other, drinking beers, and smoking. I didn’t feel safe at all and definitely didn’t feel like eating at the café or enjoying the beach in front of it. Nothing was explained during check-in except for the Wi-Fi. There was nobody around when I checked out at 9 a.m. The room and bathroom need a deep cleaning — it feels like they just started cleaning again after years of neglect. It was very dirty; the fridge hadn’t been cleaned in ages and smelled like vomit, so I couldn’t use it. There were old, broken pieces of furniture in the room, a swimsuit and towel from a previous guest in the bathroom, and a very old bottle of laundry liquid lying around. There are also many stairs with very high steps to reach the room and the main road, which can be a problem depending on your health condition or the weight of your luggage. The price they charge for help with luggage is also way too high.

• Sarah (2/5): Mauvais accueil, saleté, bruits et manque d’accessibilité/sécurité - La vue sur Thomas Beach, jolie et plus confidentielle que Padang Padang. C’est le seul point positif. L’accueil était mauvais voir inexistant avec un gros manque d’amabilité. L’hôtel est situé en amont de la plage, du coup le bruit des vagues se fait entendre toute la nuit et empêche de dormir. En plus des aboiements des chiens des maisons avoisinantes. Mes draps étaient sales dès que mon arrivée arrivée. La wifi est obligatoire car on ne capte pas la 4G (ce qui rend compliqué les échanges avec les taxis le temps de remonter les escaliers). Les escaliers sont pentus et plutôt longs ce qui ne facilement pas du tout l’accès. De plus, la nuit rien n’est éclairé. Je ne conseille pas du tout pour une femme seule. La salle de bain est commune est située en dehors des chambres. Pour finir, après avoir prévu la veille que je ferai mon check-in très tôt le matin, personne n’a répondu à mes messages le jour J et j’ai dû déposer les clés sous le paillasson.
• Matthias (6/5): Für Surfer sicher ne tolle Unterkunft, für normale Gäste eher nicht. - Die Lage am Beach ist wunderschön. Zimmer sind ok, Bäder auch. Von der Herzlichkeit der Balinesen war ehrlich gesagt nicht viel wahrnehmbar. Wir haben nach 2 Nächten die Unterkunft gewechselt. Man kam sich als Gast eher geduldet wie herzlich willkommen vor.

Je me suis endormie chaque soir avec le doux bruit des vagues. La chambre était très propre. Je tiens à remercier les personnes qui m’ont aidé à porter ma valise avec ces très nombreuses marches. Le chemin pour s’y rendre n’est pas éclairé la nuit mais comme c’est la rue commune je ne pense pas que l’hôtel puisse y faire quelque chose.

Les singes étaient présents mais sans explication de comment réagir …. Le soir le restaurant n était pas enthousiaste de nous servir après 19h 😬 au niveau services très moyen et peu d interlocuteur

• Alexandr (8/5): One of the Greatest views on Thomas beach and lovely staff! - Very fascinating seaview on thomas beach, great placement and friendly staff! Perfect reachability of the beach! Beatiful surrounding! The shower in shared bathroom on my floor was not working, but there was working one floor below. Internet requires re-login on each reconnect and has few instabilities during video conferences, but generally ok.

• Oliver (8/5): overall good experience in great location and great views, but be aware of stairs - right next to the beach staff really friendly, very welcoming we could rent scooters for fair price decent food room was comfortable, and clean chill lots of stairs to get there, for us it wasn't a problem, but for elders it may be bad bathroom wasn't in our room, we had a shared bathroom with the floor during rainy season the beach is dead, with nothing really open. from march it's better I think
• Vojtěch (9/5): Superb - Compared to the noisy main street, this was a great quiet place. Ari and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Note that there are 150 stairs from the parking place down to the accommodation. Though we knew to expect this and it wasn't an issue for us. At night, the room felt a bit stuffy, so we kept a window open.

• Luisa (2/5): Ripped off - Nice beach view Dirty bathrooms, rooms full of dust, nearly no running water in shower, odd sewage smell at night in the rooms, a staff member was rude at the café and also during the paid service to help with our luggage down the steps. I had to check out one day earlier than I had booked just because of how poor conditions were… still haven’t been reimbursed! Not worth the price just to stay on the beach….
• Miamckella (8/5): Beautiful views! - Very beautiful view! Takes a bit of effort to come and go (126 uneven steps), but it is worth it. Really nice food at the restaurat. Nice staff. The shared toilet could use a really good scrubbing. There were spider webs everywhere and it was a bit grimy. We stayed 4 nights and the room wasn't asked to be cleaned once, although we didn't need that, maybe you can get the room cleaned if you ask. The beach is ok for surfing, but not snorkeling. Water is not clear and therr is a lot of trash floating around.
• P (6/5): You get the entire beach to yourself before the tourist make the long track down the stairs. - The location for surfing is a perfect. The shops and cafes are very close and convenient provided you are happy to do the vertical stairs. It’s Sparse - You will get a bed with sheets and a coverlet, with mosquito netting, a fridge, a cupboard and shelf, a rug and cold air conditioning and wifi. The owners are very friendly and happy to chat. The room,bedding and shared bathroom should have been cleaner.

Wake up and fall asleep with the sound of waves, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, direct access to the beach and fresh food. Overall authentic vibe and simple commodities. The fridge next to our room (3) wasn't working, had some issues with the wifi too.

• Johanna (7/5): Good - The view the view!!! The location!! What a beautiful location! And so peaceful compared to the busy places next to it. At low tide you can walk to uluwatu and padang padang from the beach. The staff at ari cafe are so friendly and laid back and you can rent a scooter from them. Rooms are correct and clean, the A.C works well and is silent. You pay the view. But you can hear next door neighbors as if in your room Shared bathroom is being cleaned but still the toilet is not inviting at all and outside at the back there's rubbish.

If you are carrying light luggage, this could be great for you. Views and location are incredible. The shared bathroom is awful. I’m fit and healthy and struggled with the stairs. You can pay $100,000 Rupiah each way for help with your bags. There are many other amazing places to stay in Uluwatu that are far more cleanly and comfortable. Save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else.

You can hear (and see) the sea from your bed, have the beautiful beach pretty much to yourself in the morning and watch the nicest sunsets. The cafe is also a great option for budget friendly food (loved the smoothiebowls!) and you can easily rent a surfboard or take a class. Its just a perfect place to enjoy the beachlife to the fullest and completely detach (not very touristy either:)) As I said pretty much adored the place. Just be aware you share your bathroom with 1 other room (and the toilet could've been a bit cleaner).

Although I had to share a bathroom it is only with one other room and so close that I didn’t matter at all Also loved the sunset there!! The walk there felt like a bit of a hike with the stairs
