Tammy (4/5): Overpriced and underwhelming - The shared pool. The host was responsive and fixed the shower drain quickly despite being very busy. We were so excited to stay here on our halfway point of our vacation in Sicily. We knew that it was a two bedroom one bathroom apartment on the smaller side. We knew the pool was shared and that was very nice, but upon our arrival we realized just how very small and overpriced the place was. The fridge wasn’t turned on and ready for use (during the very hot 33+ weather it was actually hot inside the fridge). The toiletries were not provided despite them being listed. There were no plastic glasses to bring poolside. And come to think of it there were no wine glasses. I had to request dish soap to wash the dishes. The air conditioning was in the kitchen/eating area while in one bedroom there was an oscillating fan but not the other. We did find traveling through Sicily that hosts say “ac” but this doesn’t mean throughout the place but fans were provided. There was also a towel which was absolutely moth eaten. There wasn’t a recommendation of places to eat, where to shop or where to visit. I head to reach out to our host in Siracusa who was very helpful. And we were asked to give a 400€ cash damage deposit which was the strangest thing of all. No other property requested that. Overall, we felt the apartment was overpriced for value. It was THE most expensive place we stayed in all of Sicily. On this trip we had stayed in 5 places and most were 3-4 bedroom 2 bathroom, with a balcony/rooftop or garden all of which had coffee, dish soap, shampoo, and a bunch of extra special things from each host which left us feeling cared for as vacationers. This one had no toiletries, no space and quality was not what we expected. The host was really very kind and responsive to fix the plugged shower however it was far too expensive for what we received. While I would recommend it for short stays the cost left us feeling swindled.
