Guest Reviews

Heerlijk gegeten, elke dag tagine of couscous (diverse varianten). Niets viel tegen.
Volveremos.

- Emmanuel (6/5): Good - The staff The location

NA
- Joe (8/5): - The Riad was lovely, the room was comfortable and the staff were amazing. The riad was located down a dark alleyway. The locals pester you, sometimes quite aggressively, to pay them for directions.

- Myeongjun (8/5): Amazing staff members - Hospitality of the staff members are amazing! Hair dryer was more like wind blower, and shower head was too high and water splashes everywhere. And wifi connection was bad
- Zobaida (8/5): A traditional experience - Helpful and friendly staff! Great location, which is close to visitor attractions and the main square. Very traditional feel, which is what we were looking for. Anas, in particular, was very polite and no request seemed like too much trouble. The staff were always available and happy to help resolve any issues. The card payment machine was not working and payment for the stay was required in cash. This caused some stress in trying to organise and withdraw a large sum of currency from local ATMs. There was no cupboard or hanging space for clothing - bearing in mind it was a room for 3 of us. The walk through smaller (car less) streets leading up to the Riad were littered and dirty on some days. Appreciate this is out of the control of the Riad and other neighbouring businesses, but not pleasant when walking through it.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (4/5): I wouldn’t recommend if you are travelling with someone as the room is very small. - The owners were friendly, you can walk to most places Uncomfortable room, very small bed, room felt moist, lack of facilities. Neighbourhood was uncomfortable
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (8/5): Friendly staff, clean rooms and good location - We had to best stay at Riad Iklil! Everybody was so friendly, breakfast was delicious, rooms were comfy and tidy. Would recommend to anyone looking to visit Marrakesh
- Tina (8/5): Lovely Riad - The host and the staff were incredible, really made you feel at home and Tariq was so friendly, helpful and lovely. They work so hard there.
The Road is beautiful. The noise was really loud in the alley and kept us awake all night but it wasn't their fault. The beds are very hard so that's your taste. Also, the shower head didn't stay on the wall so we had to hold it to clean ourselves therefore we couldn't wash our hair. The pillows were very hard, again your preference but not for me. These were all little things but because of the service we got it didn't matter as we really enjoyed our stay.
The location is close to the Medina but down a sketchy alley where we felt quite intimated by men trying to help them asking for money for helping us which we didn't like so you really need to know where you're going once you get there.
The taxi can't take you all the way to the actual riad so you have to get out and walk a bit so Google maps is a must!!
- Oluwaseun (10/5): My stay was superb. Cleanness, well behaved staff, lovely and always ready to go extra miles manager(mariam) , proximity - The property is very clean, organised and portraits the expected culture identity. Nil
- Kris (7/5): A RIAD is different to a hotel with less facilities if bad weather not much to do. - Breakfast was good Hotel name on the door or at front of property
- Karen (9/5): Superb - We've just come back from 5nts at riad Iklil. What a great property, lovely and clean, lovely staff especially Enis who looked after us. Highly recommend this place and would definitely go again.
- Baldev (9/5): Enjoyed the stay, all staff were warm and friendly which helped to make it feel like home. - Very clean and tidy rooms, which were cleaned on a daily basis. All members of staff were very helpful and Anis was very attentive and always gave us time, listened well and gave us helpful tips. Bathrooms were not entirely separate from the bedrooms, a curtain in place rather than a door and only partly partitioned off. Not ideal for a family but not a deal breaker.
- Christine (8/5): Outstanding staff, lovely Riad but a trek through the allies to get there. - It was a haven inside. Really lovely. Very cool and exceptionally clean The dining area was outside which was a bit chilly first thing in the morning but that's probably only at this time of year.
- Zarin (1/5): We shocked when we went there the location is not good.they ask us to the room tax beside the price we paid,WiFi not wo - The location was not easy you have to walk in long Ailey with your luggage no car or taxi can come there
- Ian (10/5): Highly recommended place to stay in Marrakesh. - The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Bedroom and shower room very comfortable and clean. A little difficult navigating around near the Riad but made much easier by the staff meeting us and taking us to main area.
Nothing else.
- Caroline (8/5): A fascinating stay - The staff Nasser and Imran were brilliant
They were both very friendly and incredibly helpful
- Jonathan (10/5): Marrakesh was balmy and bonkers ... we just loved it ! - My Partner and I love an adventure so we opted for a Riad rather than a hotel as we wanted more of an authentic experience. The lovely cleaning team, reception team and owner; everyone was polite, friendly and professional. Special mention to Imrane and Nasser who were superb (merci mes amis). Once we had acclimatised to the area (we always felt safe), the unusual (for us Brits) streets and alleys became very familiar and we had no problem finding our way around (actually, getting a bit lost in Souk was part of the enjoyment). Sure, our room had subdued lighting and small windows bit hey ... that's the ambience we actually wanted so 10/10 from us there - the bed was comfy, the shower hot and enough room for everything we needed. In short - if you want a generic, modern, expensive hotel then Riad Iklil is not for you ..... if you like authenticity, adventure, colour and people you can smile with then book here. We loved it ! Turns out I'm not a fan of Moroccan mint tea so I'm sorry team ... that's me not you. Thanks for offering it though !! :)
- Stephanie (9/5): Lovely little riad - The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They would assist you to a taxi meet and in my case give me an extra heater when I was ill. Very helpful all round. I did have a problem with the drains smelling in my room alone. The staff did everything in their power to rectify the problem.
- Srishti (9/5): Superb - We had a great experience at this place. The staff, especially Imran, were incredibly helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The service was top-notch, and they really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was also fantastic with a wide variety of options to choose from. One tip I would recommend is to pre-book any activities in advance, as this can help reduce costs.
- Francesca (7/5): All in all a good stay - The staff is all really lovely , accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was great and the bed was lovely and comfortable The pictures online don’t really say the true. The hotel looks much bigger and majestic specially the swimming pool.
The spa mentioned on the name doesn’t really exist a part from the massage room.
- Michael (8/5): Good price quality - Clean, very good breakfast, friendly Breakfast was served at the rooftop. This was a bit cold in the morning.
- Ankur (9/5): Staying at this Riad was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend it to others! - Our stay was absolutely superb! The caretaker, Mohsina, is an incredible person who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Despite our short stay, he was always available and eager to assist us with anything we needed. His kindness and attentiveness truly made a difference. Highly recommended! The location on Google Maps was a bit inaccurate, so I’d advise travelers not to rely solely on it. Some local guides may try to charge excessive fees to take you to the property. To avoid any inconvenience, it’s best to communicate directly with the host before your arrival for accurate directions.
- Bonnie (10/5): Treated like family from the moment we arrived. - This was our first visit to Marrakesh or Moracco. We wanted to feel we were really there, so we chose a Riad instead of a hotel. We were in the heart of the Medina. We needed help to find our way around. Mohsine, who worked there, took us under his wing. He assisted with make arrangements for guides, or private cars, even once following the car to be sure we got to the right place to meet up for our food tour. Because we didn't speak the language, Phone calls were made for us to be sure those assisting us knew to take care of us. The room and breakfast and one dinner there were top notch. .Our stay was enhance by the entire staff treating us like family. We would stay with this Riad again on any subsequent visits. All was wonderful
- Marc (5/5): Below expectation - The roof terrace was fine and the coffee was good. The room did not have any ventilation or window and therefore had a bad humid smell. Several times the host tried to charge us more than agreed, first for pickup from airport (we never saw the driver) and later for the meals. We also did not like the fact that the host said that it was dangerous to eat outside the riad. The riad is hard to find due to the small alleys, in addition the Google maps location is not correct.
- Jay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramona (10/5): I spent two wonderful days in this riad with my mum and even booked an extra night ! - I spent two wonderful days in this riad with my mum and even booked an extra night because we liked it so much.
The transfer from the airport was straightforward and we were picked up in a taxi which cost 220 DH (not included in the price). As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Momsine and immediately treated to tea and biscuits. The hospitality was simply fantastic! We would particularly like to highlight the support of Momsine and Mariam, who helped us a lot with the planning and organisation of our activities such as quad biking and our trip to Essaouira. It's not always easy to find your way around a new country, but their help made everything so much easier. We are incredibly grateful for that!
The riad itself was a real dream - beautifully decorated, with spacious rooms and a breakfast that was fresh and delicious every morning. Overall an unforgettable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone.
Thank you so much for everything! XXX
- Tjdean (10/5): Great stay - Great location, staff very friendly and were on hand to book trips and taxi. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of it. They supplied a kettle for us which was much appreciated Nothing
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Monshie was great, very welcoming!
- Edwin (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpfull people!
- Claudio (1/5): STAY AWAY COMPLETELY!!! - Nothing about the welcoming at the airport and at the structure
Nothing about the management of the check-in
Nothing about the people in charge of the management
Nothing about the additional services “offered” (paid but not available at the time of use) When booking, we asked for the opportunity of an early check-in and, without any clear answer we discovered at our arrival that our room was not ready for the next 4 hrs,
We even just expressed our interest in some of the activities offered by the riad, JUST EXPRESSED THE INTEREST 😄 … we had never done it!
In addition to the expected check-in, never confirmed and never rejected, as soon as arrived at the riad, we were told that the reserved room was unavailable due to a bad smell (which sounds a lot like an excuse for overbooking!) and we were forced to stay in another riad (Riad Teranga, where, on the contrary, the staff was particularly kind and attentive). Furthermore, we were held up for over 40 minutes and threatened to choose the dates and pay in advance (cash only, of course!) for ALL the activities that we had simply expressed interest in advance by email before our arrival.Feeling like hostages and lonely, for being “released” and to find a compromise, we agreed to participate in some of the activities, including the taxi service for the arrival (which we had already used) and for the departure, which we had not yet used
The night before our departure the riad informed us that the taxi service for our departure was not paid (?) and that we would have to pay (for the second time) directly with the taxi driver, despite the receipt in our hand
We tried to ask explanation but, not surprisingly, we received no answer either by phone or in person, despite ringing the bell for over 10 minutes (we could hear people talking inside, who then unplugged the bell!)
Finally, they also tried to cancel the reservation as a "no show" (!). Fortunately, we promptly informed Booking during our stay, and they will take the necessary actions.
I believe that the beauty of places is spoiled by the behavior of individuals, thinking they are acting intelligently, obtain the opposite result
I hope this review will help future visitors to stay away from this Riad
- Suzie (10/5): In 24 hours Riad Iklil Become Our Home! - From the moment we arrived, Riad Iklil felt like a home away from home. Mohaine, the host, was incredible – one of the most helpful people I've ever met! He greeted us at the door and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay.
The riad itself is beautiful, with comfortable and quiet rooms, a stunning rooftop terrace, and phenomenal food. The location is perfect too, close to great restaurants and shopping, yet tucked away in a peaceful alley.
Mohaine's exceptional service truly elevated our experience. He organized our airport transfers and even helped us book tours, ensuring everything went smoothly. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
We miss Riad Iklil already and can't wait to return. Thank you, Mohaine, for everything! Finding Riad Iklil can be a bit tricky (we got a little lost ourselves!), but trust me, it's worth the effort. Pro tip: Search for "Restaurant Dar Zellij" on Google Maps, and you'll be just a few minutes' walk away. Be wary of people offering to guide you for money, as this is illegal in Morocco. Mohaine, the wonderful host, will be happy to provide directions or will pick you up! No problem!
- Mathew (4/5): Very mixed. - The staff were very friendly, and showed us how to get to the riad from the main streets which was really appreciated. The room was clean, quiet and peaceful, and the air-con worked well. The roof terrace was lovely to sit on. The Riad had two electrical fires whilst we were there caused by the rain. Whilst the staff were very helpful generally, they were completely unable to deal with these in a safe manner. The second one could have easily been prevented if the proper action was taken to sort out the first, but despite me and other guests saying what needed to be done the staff just said "it is fine ok" and didn't take it seriously. This just wasn't really acceptable.
The breakfast was pretty terrible unfortunately.
Before our stay we asked for the room to be made into a twin room as we were father and son travelling. This had not been done, and so we asked for an extra bedsheet so that we could at least have separate sheets. We got one eventually but the staff didn't seem to understand why. Then one day when we came back to our room, our bed had been re-made with not even the normal amount of sheets (aka no sheet on the mattress) so we again had to ask for more sheets which wasn't responded to at all, and we had to sleep sort of semi-wrapped in the one sheet.
Finally, I'm not sure of the function of the pool in the riad. It is approximately 3m x 2m and in plain view in the central courtyard so i'm not sure who would use it.
- Barbara (9/5): HIghly recommend! I would stay there again! - Moshine was a perfect host! I really felt welcomed to someone's home. A very peaceful/calm environment; a nice change from the hectic pace of the Medina. No issues. I felt a little sad when I checked out for my next destination. Surely a good sign of a good stay?
- Gary (10/5): The staff were very helpful we had a great trip to Marakkesh. - Very clean and well located
- Natasha (10/5): An ideal introduction to Marrakesh and Moroccan lifestyle. - When we came in, the first thing that let our eyes fall in love was the architecture and how clean the Riad is. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and after that our rooms were shown and it was a beautiful place to stay. Comfortable beds and the room got cleaned every day. We really felt like home. The staff was really nice and polite and could answer all our questions. We asked them about any cooking classes and instead they offered a cooking class to us. This was amazing and now we can cook some tajine at home.
- David (8/5): I would visit again but not with another person if I wanted two beds. - Staff were amazing! Very friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable - Walked with us to show us how to get to the market. Also, hotel itself was beautiful and peaceful. Very nice accommodations. Room was advertised as 2 room suite with sitting room and couch bed. This was not the case, it was very small - one bed, and no couch/bed. There was a small bench/couch maybe 3 ft long. Not possible for sleeping. And, no door to the bathroom - just a curtain.
- Canario (10/5): mo was very friendly, kind and always available to help - The MO
- Amont (10/5): 10/10 - Beautiful and clean Riad 😍
- Nicolas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hanif (9/5): Superb - Lovely place to stay in the heart of old Town Marrakesh. Mariam and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Assisted us with booking excursions and day trips which was very helpful. If you are looking to experience the real culture and atmosphere of Marrakesh I would certainly recommend riad iklil.
- Maria (10/5): Very nice and clean Riad that is very good value for money - We loved our stay at the Riad Iklil. The staff were very accomodating and our room was spacious and homely. Breakfast was very tasty and we will definitely be returning customers. Although the Riad is beautiful the location can be a bit intimidating and hard to find. After our first day we became familiar with the route and all was well.
- Catherine (8/5): Clean, tidy and friendly but CASH ONLY for whole payment of stay - Good hosts, friendly and helpful. The house keeping staff were great, leaving our rooms so tidy. They arranged the bathroom really nicely with our toiletries and the shampoo and shower gel were topped up daily. The sheets and towels felt very clean. The Riad ONLY takes cash for payment of your stay, which it does not state anywhere on the website. We arrived expecting to be able to pay by card - as it states on the website. We had to go to a cash point shortly after arriving and discovering this - we arrived at night so didn’t feel 100% safe getting that amount of money out at night, and was a bit of a rocky start to our arrival. Felt a bit deceitful as it doesn’t say anywhere that you have to pay by cash, and they also take your card details to check eligibility on booking, so we were then confused whether more money would be charged to our card at a later date. Would have been fine if it was clear from the beginning, we would’ve got more cash at the airport.
Good stay otherwise, just please make this clearer for your guests.
- Renae (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dorota (7/5): It was interesting I like it my husband didn’t. - The property was very clean situated in the old city.
Had very unique decor.
Amazing friendly staff. The initial bedroom had really hard mattress but a new bedroom was given to us with better mattress. The rooms have no outside windows. No TV.
The location it’s in the old city, the streets are narrow and ancient. It could be very intimidating at first .
- Sharmin (7/5): It was lovely enough for the price however it was very noisy and I woke up multiple times - The staff were so lovely and accommodating It’s very noisy, pillows are uncomfortable and there were marks on the pillow case.
- Claud (7/5): Good -
- Yannick (10/5): Exceptional - The staff works really hard to satisfy you.
- Chaimaa (10/5): Wonderful Riad and relaxing - The quadbike day organized by Mariam very good organization Riad very clean and cozy
- Salerno (10/5): Excellent location - Top notch service - From arrival to departure the stay was wonderful. This Riad is Beautiful! Service was exceptional all the way around. Clean room and tasty breakfast (i shouldn't have with my diet). The staff was very helpful with suggestions of local dining, shopping and sight seeing (which was all very close within walking distance) PERFECT LOCATION!!! I will definitely stay here again.
