Guest Reviews
- Janet (10/5): Wonderful Jamaica Palace in Portland - It is newly renovated & painted recently, this makes it outstanding Another Bin the main area
Written Instructions to negotiate the TV
- Karen (10/5): Overall it was a very pleasant stay. - The breakfast was lovely, the rooms were clean, the staff were very friendly and it was like staying with family on a daily basis as the staff greeted you wherever you were within the hotel. This is a suggestion - I think they should offer an evening meal option similar to breakfast. The restaurant dining was quite expensive.
- Donald (8/5): Great Location and Magnificent Bedroom - The bedroom was lovely and clean. The bed was large and positively unusual. The decoration and ambience in the reception area left much to be desired. It was crowded and not befitting the the area. The same goes for other common areas.
- Monai (9/5): -
- Mcferren (8/5): - Staff 11/10. Breakfasts 8/10. Location, on the main, easy for taxi. Super quiet and peaceful place. Nothing not to like.
- Ivy (9/5): - The staff was at all time helpful, reception, securiry, restaurant or the cleaning staff.
The hotel is very well maintained und is in the style of a plantation main house There was nothing negative
- Guest (9/5): -
- FENNEL (10/5): - Great scenery
- Memory (7/5): I would love to go back at a drier time of year. - The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very good and the servings were generous. Having to cross wet grass and walkways to get to the room. Parking was tight and the ground muddy since it was a rainy weekend ( not the fault of the hotel ) We learnt not to leave a light on in the room when going out at night as it attracted bugs.
- Terrence (8/5): -
- Johnson (9/5): Overall it was a very relaxing stay - The breakfast was good . Could add a little more variety eg. Mackerel Run Dung
The location was excellent
- Javier (1/5): - Outside spaces are nice The room was not properly clean, which was disappointing from the start. The service was also quite poor, especially from the kitchen staff and the front desk.
At one point, a waitress even chased us while shouting, assuming we were leaving without paying, when in fact we were on our way to reception to pay for our dinner bill. That situation was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. The hotel is overpriced for the quality it offers and definitely not worth the money. A completely unnecessary expense.
- Nick (9/5): A wonderful base to explore wonderful Portland from. - Great staff, great location. Coffee making faculty in room
- Oniel (8/5): - The location was awesome. Vey nice view. Extremely clean and well maintained. Love the aesthetics especially outdoor The bathroom needs an upgrade
- Watson (8/5): Very peaceful and tranquil. - The property was great a natural gem. Nothing really it is an older more historical building that is quite well kept.
- Glda (7/5): - Emplacement, Installations, qualité des chambres. Qualité de l'accueil (sécurité et réception), certaines lourdeurs dans le service.
- Sheena (10/5): -
- Myers (7/5): The stay was good but information was lacking - Breakfast was good but lack choices and portions were not enough The cable TV stations were no good. We didn't have access to sports and news to include our local stations.
- Martin (8/5): -
- Rohan (7/5): - Nice property AC was not working properly. Room has a musty odor. Shower access can be a trip hazard
- Peter (10/5): Love it -
- Hyacinth (9/5): Great stay, very peaceful - Breakfast was good love the ackee and saltfish. Excellent view watching the sunset from the balcony. lovely grounds well kept and beautiful. I didn't like the liver breakfast as much, could be a little more tasty.
- Charmaine (9/5): - It was very clean; breakfast was good; staff were really friendly; the location was fantastic. It was peaceful and serene My bedroom was not dark enough at night.
- tameca (10/5): great 😊 - everything was great 😊 thank

- Sheree (7/5): Gorgeous stay - Jamaica Palace Hotel is a truly gorgeous place to stay in the pearl of Portland. Even though it was developed in the 70s-80s, the property is well maintained with relatively modern rooms and beautiful gardens. The breakfast was included in our stay and we enjoyed the choice between Jamaican and continental breakfasts. We had a car so it was very convenient to get around to sights in Portland and while it rained, it was convenient to eat in the onsite restaurant with its beautiful artwork. For a parish where it rains the most in Jamaica, I was surprised by the lack of indoor activities made available at the hotel. It would be interesting if they offered some board games, and more communal spaces for guests other than the pool and lobby. Other than that, there were no suggestions for things to do in or around Portland or any tour information made available. I wonder about how the management treats the staff, they don't seem very motivated and service was inconsistent, sometimes they were friendly, sometimes we were served water and juice without asking and other times we waited ages and eventually had to ask.
- Florence (9/5): Amazing! - It’s so beautiful friendly staff and great location It was perfect!
- Fabio Massimo (8/5): -
- Giselle (7/5): -
- Camille (6/5): It was ok. - The staff and breakfast. The place is in need of fixing and modernizing. The overall property needs upkeeping while ensuring that the natural esthetics are maintained.
- Gilles (6/5): Dommage que le personnel ne soit pas à la hauteur du « palace »! - L’emplacement avec le bâtiment de l’hôtel dans son environnement. L’indolence du personnel et l’agencement des chambres.
- Rickardo (7/5): - The staff was pleasant and helpful There was no internet somedays and the tv/cable never worked. The bed was not very comfortable and there was a stained pillow they kept putting back on the bed.
- Powell (9/5): - The place was very clean and the staff was warm and friendly.
- Berry (7/5): The overall location and value for money was great. - The location was great and the staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and place is beautiful. Room was a bit small.
- mine (10/5): Convenient, comfortable and clean - Comfortable beds, clean rooms. There were frequent route taxis passing in front of the hotel. They are like public transport. This made it very easy for us to travel to the beaches and the town center. Big room size.
I'm vegan, and they ensured the breakfast was tailored for me. We needed to wait for 10mins for hot water after turning on the shower (in the end there was hot water though) .No gym. Checkout is 11am strict.
- Derricka (10/5): Great location, property was well maintained, staff was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend - Excellent variety of local jamaican meals and continental
Nichts
- chinmoy kamal (10/5): Excellent - Everything Nothing
- chinmoy kamal (10/5): Excellent - Everything Nothing
- Glda (9/5): - Lieu, piscine, Vue du balcon, ambiance rétro Palace des années 1920. Clarity of communication with service, but it solved itself.
- Dwayne (9/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): Wonderful location and the staff is excellent - Lovely. The views, the grounds, the size
- Victor (8/5): -
- Magdalena (10/5): -

- Susan (9/5): Excellent will definitely stay here again - The staff were extremely helpful polite and friendly.the room was lovely, bed was very comfortable and clean ,pillows were amazing . Food was very nice
Would definitely stay there again . There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but would have loved tea and coffee facilities in room.
- Sarah (7/5): Review for Jamaica Palace Hotel - The room was nice, smelled lovely and the bed was comfortable. The bath was not pleasant and the shower over it was very old fashioned.
- Ian (8/5): Lodging and food was exceptional - The staff was professional and kind. We totally enjoyed our stay. The hotel was centrally located so we were able to visit several beaches and local attractions. Nothing community to mind.
- Debbie (9/5): Great holiday Location & Experience A**** - The hotel is set in a beautiful back drop & scenic gardens. The hotel itself is built in the old colonial style but very modern in design & stylish inside. The staff are wonderfully helpful courteous & friendly, eager to assist with any request.
The rooms are spotless & comfortable with TV & undercounter fridge freezer , the standard rm has a smaller sitting lounge area & the Deluxe room is big spacious with a separate sitting lounge area.
The bathrooms are generously sized with sunken tubs in lovely patina marble.
The pool area is very serene & relaxing with plenty of lounge chairs & umbrellas to stay out of the sun .
The restaurant has a gd tasty variety on Breakfast, Lunch * Dinner menus * Bar service is available too
Great service all round I would've liked to know that spa services can be requested if asked for *& a laundry service would also be helpful if travelling with children

- E.dacosta (8/5): Very good - Very spacious and open
- Irina (8/5): Wonderful stay, loved the staff, location, hotel is decent. Certain things could be improved - Stunning views, hotel is well maintained and very clean. Loved the pool and terrace, restaurant was very decent. Great gardening work! Room is clean and spacious, but lacking coffee machine, cups and hairdryer. The shower rail came off many times The arts in the lobby can be a little turn off - little dark and gloomy with hands and shapes of human face sticking out.
- Daedreann (10/5): I went with my husband for a wedding and we stayed here The staff was exceptionally helpful. The fac - I went with my husband for a wedding and we stayed here The staff was exceptionally helpful. The facility was very clean. The complementary breakfast was excellent with a side of fresh fruits. I will definitely be back.
- Dee (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful establishment
- Jackie (8/5): Would definitely stay again. - Staff members very a tentative.breakfast staff where excellent food was excellent. Bedstead lamp in bedroom didn’t work
Kept on flickering. No plug in bathtub
Unable to have a bath.
- Clarke (10/5): Exceptional - How big and beautiful the place was, amazing painting and the staff was so friendly I love that The pool the nature that the place come with a lot of places there to take photos on the property
- David (9/5): Superb - Really nice place in a good location. The bed was large and comfortable and the staff were quite helpful. One of the nights we had to leave the restaurant early and return to our rooms as they were doing some kind of bug fumigation on the premises. It wasn't the biggest deal in the world but a Sunday night seemed like a strange time to do this.
- Tanesha (8/5): Very good - Very dated hotel. Need to invest in renovation to bring it back. Staff were great! Location perfect! Breakfast was out of this world. Our room had roaches what wasn't ideal. Obviously in jamaica your bound to find a roach or two here or there. So we didn't make fuss, just got them out. I've always wanted to stay here so had high expectations which weren't reached. As a whole I'd say it's good to stay for a shorter trip. You will be comfortable and feel safe. It's outdated facilities and rooms
- Beatrice (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent.
Scenery, excellent
Grounds well kept, gardens beautiful
Food is also pretty good Bed is very hard, like a rock
Walking outside to our room
One morning it was raining we had to wait
to get to breakfast
- Ferguson (5/5): Passable -
- Leanne (7/5): It was adequate for a short weekend, but I wouldnt intentionally book there again - the location was ideal the food - the overall aesthetic
- Tyrique (4/5): Disappointing -
- Shanyq (7/5): Good -
- Lorraine (7/5): Good -
- Lorraine (7/5): Good -
- Peter (10/5): Excided my expectations - Quiet , clean
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Nicely decorated and spacious hotel - Spacious, clean, nicely decorated, nice grounds and swimming pool. Guard at entrance. Friendly staff. Nothing
- Patrick (8/5): Very enjoyable, relaxing and the grounds are so lovely and well kept. - Staff was lovely and it so good to see so many young people working in a nice hotel / location and mastering there trade. No gym / spar facilities.
- Markel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sally (8/5): Wonderful stay - Absolutely stunning hotel. We booked the sea view junior suite which was spacious , airey and comfortable.. only thing missing was kettle inside room. The hotel room was white chequered theme throughout which felt palatial. The staff were amazing . Breakfast limited choice but sufficient. Dinner was lovely. . Would def recommend this hotel . No kettle inside room.
- Paulo (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (7/5): Good - Everything ok price and quality, you need to be aware that is a 3 star hotel I don’t like the vintage look, the rooms are decorated and ambient like and old house.
- Alphonso (8/5): Very good - Big spacious room I couldn't get the tv to work
- Hugh (9/5): Superb -
- Nigel (10/5): Irie! - I am familiar with Jamaican cuisine and salivated over the ackee and saltfish, banana, yam, and dumplings. But I saw other guests delighting in French toast and waffles so whatever the desire it seems the hotel fulfilled those wishes with gusto. I didn't come across a single 'bad' employee. Everybody I encountered seemed happy to be helpful. Remarkable staff, really! I can't think of anything that could have been better.
- Glen (9/5): Superb - Great choice breakfast and meals in general.
- Karla (8/5): I appreciated each and every worker. They were pleasant and friendly. This made the stay much more r - The location was perfect, quiet. Staff friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping staff should be assigned to one area for the duration of guests stay, not different staff throughout the stay. This, will allow for a better rapport with guests.
- Alesaundra (3/5): For $200 US per night it just wasn’t worth it. - It was clean The hard mattress, the decor and the food
- Charmaine (8/5): Would definitely return if the rate is reduced - Good ambiance
Clean surroundings
Trainee staff in the restaurant were pleasant and moved about briskly
Playing the Happy Birthday song for one of the guests was a very nice touch
Stay was pleasant and the ambiance was good 1) Vegetarian options limited
2) The boiled banana at breakfast was tough and tasted like it was cooked the day before and reheated.
3) The trainee staff were quite pleasant. Some of the more seasoned looking staff moved about in a lazy way. They seemed to be either tired or not caring too much about their job.
4) Rooms need a coffee/tea maker. Especially if you are not a breakfast person and just don't want to get out of bed to go to the dining room.
5) At least 2 rolls of toilet paper should be in the bathroom
6) Bedroom door should have a second lock or a door chain for added security
7) Room 37. The bathroom door could not be locked. the latch at the top of the door could not reach the latch insert
- Romario (7/5): Good -
- Chamaele (8/5): Jamaica Palace Hotel...A True Palace - The rooms were quite spacious, and at breakfast, the staff was polite and helpful. Nothing
- Paola (7/5): Good -
- Dave (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous the staff wey exceptional - It was clean spacious and comfortable There was nothing not to like about the place
- Stacyann (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful and quite
- Dinelle (8/5): Very good - The facility was very clean and quiet. The staff was exceptionally polite and welcoming. The quantity for breakfast was too minimal. You have to order more than one thing on the menu so that you can get sufficient food. The price for food at the restaurant is too expensive. A thousand dollars for cranberry juice is too much. Had to buy lunch and dinner in the town.
- Rasheed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murphy (7/5): Good -
- Michael (4/5): Very disappointed in the level of standard from the staff - We have stayed at the palace over 7 times The standards from the staff were poor no line management or co-ordination since the manager Simone left the establishment the own needs to reorganise this was the worse visit we had we will not be staying here again unfortunately
- Errol (8/5): Very good - Beautiful grounds,hotel spacious,and clean friendlyness of staff N/a
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (10/5): A peaceful oasis. - We cannot speak highly enough about the Jamaica Palace Hotel. The setting, environment, facilities, staff etc made our short family break, so magical. I can’t wait to get back there. Evening meals, although good, were a little pricey.
- Natesha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (10/5): Paradise! - Excellent choices and quality for the breakfast menu.
- Brown (7/5): Good -
