Guest Reviews
- Caroline (10/5): - Lovely peaceful location, great base for our exploring in the borders.
Ground floor bedroom, wet room and kitchen eye were easily accessible for someone with disabilities but is ambulatory.
Good parking and fab restaurant at the golf club nearby. We had a squeaky door, owner fixed as soon as we mentioned it.
We didn't have a problem but others might as it doesn't have a full lit hen, but very well equipped to make snacks - fridge, grill, toaster, microwave.
- Frances (9/5): Lovely peaceful accomodation - Light bright accommodation. Comfy bed on mezzanine, great shower. Washing mitts in bathroom was thoughtful. I liked the niknaks from the old school...desk, slate, school bell and the history booklet with old photos was very interesting. Although there was a bench out front, I missed a garden, although you could sit across the little road in a field, the old playground.

- Catherine (10/5): A very enjoyable stay in very interesting accommodation. - We liked the space, comfort and very important for us-the location for our walks on the Borders Abbeys Way.
We liked the distinctive character of the property which is a converted school. There were a lot of extra included with
the stay and the owners were very helpful and readily available. We would highly recommend a stay here. Everything was fine and met our expectations.
- Nicholas (10/5): - The host was very welcoming, explained where everything was, on hand for advice on dog walks etc, super clean!! There was nothing I didn't like!!
Very happy!!
- Megan (10/5): A wonderful stay! - A real home from home. Comfortable beds, great shower, and a well-equipped kitchinette. The place was also immaculately clean. We had a wonderful stay!

- John (9/5): A good base for exploring - comfortable and quiet - Nice self-contained flat with genuinely comfortable beds and good facilities for a weekend break. Location is nice and quiet and is nice for a walk. And it's a short drive to Selkirk. The ground floor bedroom was ideal for my mother who doesn't like stairs! The solar-powered hot water is optimistic! (the backup immersion works great)
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Lovely stay in a lovely property and would go back again - Accommodation was first class. Very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. Would definitely go back. Owners were really friendly and helpful as well. Nothing, it was all good. If anything, it would have been lovely to have had a hob but that’s a tiny minor thing that wasn’t really a deal breaker in the grand scheme of things.
- Giovanni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Minto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (8/5): October short stay - Lovely host, fantastic property, Gorgeous place I would prefer a kettle to a heated tap, just didn't scorch my teabag. But this is the extent of my winging
- Scott (10/5): Awesome - Everything, great location. Friendly people that own the property. Secure bike storage. Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Boiling water tap not hot enough would have liked a kettle
- Ange (10/5): A wonderful get away. - We felt like we were the first visitors to this wonderful accommodation, it was spotless, beautifully presented with some luxurious touches and superbly comfortable. The beds were top notch. We and our dog were made totally welcome and we really appreciated the local information and breakfast treats provided by John and Sandra. The location is lovely, with fabulous wildlife in a secluded valley yet easily accessible from the A7. Loved everything.
- Allan (10/5): Beautiful places to stay. - Everything about the place and the surrounding areas. Everything we wanted nice and quiet with the smiddy restaurant just down the road for your evening meals. We were greeted by the host and given a full rundown of everything of places to go and see. She was very welcoming to us both and so was her husband. Great people. They let us walk our dog in their field and in the woods across the road. Absolutely brilliant. There was nothing to dislike. I will be reconmending this place to all my friends and family. I am very sorry I never took any photos of the whole place as we were here there and everywhere.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect base for exploring the borders. - Beautifully decorated cottage, very comfortable, hosts had thought of everything. Loved the little touches - fresh coffee, milk in the fridge, breakfast, toiletries, games etc. Not too keen on the stairs!
- Sommer (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Very peaceful - cleverly designed and very comfortable - Cleverly designed space - good facilities
- Done (10/5): Great accommodation deserves 10 stars - Host meet us at Auld Skuil, very welcoming, even offered us the option to pack Motorbike in Barn across road.
We were very happy with accommodation, it was spotlessly clean, had every comfort needed for our mini break, even had a selection of breakfast cereal options, fruit, teas, coffee and milk in property. This home provided us with a place to just chill, relax and de-stress, nearby local restaurant The Smiddy, serviced very nice food at good prices, we would defiantly recommend this property to our friends and relatives nothing to dislike, it was perfect
