Guest Reviews
- Marwa (1/5): -
- Jesús (7/5): The riad offering the best value for money in Marrakech. - Without a doubt, the value for money. I very much doubt you could get so much for so little in Marrakech. Not only was the price very reasonable, but you also have to give credit to the fantastic breakfast spread – it was simply brilliant. What’s more, the woman who helped Mohamed with breakfast was absolutely lovely, always with a smile on her face. I also particularly liked its location, a little way out of the main tourist area, which allowed you to soak up the real atmosphere of Marrakech’s streets, which are always incredibly safe and authentic. It’s not the most comfortable or well-equipped riad in Marrakech... but we already knew that given the low price we paid. You can’t have everything in life.

- Maria (10/5): - El propietario
- Oladamola (4/5): Fair - The Receptionist was wonderful The can do better with cleaning of the Riad
- Leinonen (8/5): -
- Giulia (8/5): - It was clean and nice. The host came getting us at the entry of the Medina. The night was calm and silent. Would go again
- Lavina (1/5): Terrible - Nothing Very Hard bed , unpleasant smell.not cosy at all.
- Cheryl (6/5): Lovely host - Location in the old town with the Marrakech locals. Bed was bearable but not comfortable for me
- Carl (10/5): Gente muy acogedora - El personal El baño
- Francesco (8/5): - Accoglienza , colazione e disponibilità dello staff
- Martin (10/5): -
- Egan (7/5): - The staff were extremely nice, especially Mohamed he mad us feel really welcome and helped us find our way around the city.
- Pieropan (10/5): Il proprietario era stra disponibile e accogliente, bella struttura tipica - Bella e tipica
- William (3/5): - Interesting part of humble Medina. A/C was quiet and efficient. Helpful staff. Floors not washed in years. One functional electric outlet. Single LED bulb strobed. Shared bathroom for 2nd floor. Barely 2' around double bed; no space for luggage.
Quite unlike any of the posted photos.
- Jakob (10/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal
- James (8/5): - Decent size room, lovely hosts
- moufakir (8/5): -
- Sebastian (8/5): - Very nice staff, nice and big breakfast The bed was a little to hard and we didn't get to much sleep, very loud outside
- Jose Manuel (7/5): -
Volveríamos otra vez a alejarnos aquí
- QAISER (2/5): - This review is intended to provide a transparent view of Riad Amely, particularly for those considering booking based on the photos and descriptions found on sites like Hotels.com. It also addresses the discrepancy between online ratings and the actual guest experience.
Our stay at Riad Amely was a very poor experience that did not live up to the online presentation. Upon arrival, we were shown to a family room that was in a state of disrepair. The room was not clean, the wall plaster was peeling, and the bathroom was in a miserable condition. The toilet was unclean, the shower tray was dirty, the shower head holder was broken, and the sink tap was loose. We immediately raised our concerns, stating that the room looked nothing like the pictures advertised. We were told this was the only family room available and no refund or cancellation would be granted.
After a heated discussion, the staff offered to move us to a smaller room for an additional charge. Since we are a family of four, we could not all fit. Eventually, they agreed to move two single beds into the new room, but this led to new problems.
Key Issues to Be Aware Of:
Misleading Photos: The accommodations do not match the pictures online. The quality of the rooms, particularly the family room we were initially shown, was far below the standard advertised.
Poor Air Conditioning: In the peak heat of summer, the air conditioning in our second room did not work properly. Despite being set to 16 degrees, it only func
- Jeremy (8/5): - The staff was very nice and the room was also very nice and the bathroom was fine. The only problem was it was quite difficult to find and the area is a little sketchy. But once you are inside it is definitely worth the price.
- Jason (6/5): - Nice people but sheets were dirty, toilet stank, and the breakfast was not included though it seemed listed as such. No matter though, for the price it’s acceptable.
- Denis (8/5): Very hospitable host, great value for money, but noisy at night/somewhat intimidating neighbourhood. - Mohamed was an exceptionally hospitable host. He has gone above and beyond to make me feel welcomed to the property. I arrived quite late, and it was not possible to get any food or water at that time from outside. He made me some tea and warm break and cheese, which was a lovely and much appreciated gesture. The location is about 20-30 min walk from Souks and the main square, and the neighborhood could feel a little intimidating: teenagers telling you all the time that you cannot go here and there because you are not Muslim. I have been told several times not to go back to Riad because it is near mosque and it's a "forbidden area" for tourists. Obviously, that is not true, but it was annoying to be confronted by this youth pretty much every time I walked to/from the souks.
Also, it was very noisy at night, until around 12/1 AM. But that can be the case in the rest of Medina.
- Huda (10/5): Worth the experience - Riad Amely was very worth it. The host made our experience much better. He was very helpful, helped us get everything we needed like a SIM card, water and answered any questions we had. He even walked with us out to our taxi the first couple times to show us the way. The rooms and beds were clean.
- Amy (4/5): Disappointing - Only a short walk into the medina.
The woman and young man were excellent staff. The light fixtures had been removed from the wall.
The floor and rug were very dirty.
The sockets to plug things in and charge your phone are behind the headboard, so you need to remove the headboard and sleep with it away from you if you want to charge something while you sleep. This is easy enough because its not actually attached to the bed.
The location is awkward to get to each night if you come from the medina. Although there is an easy way in and out to outside the wall a five minute walk north.
The owner grabbed a child from outside by the throat and shouted at him after the child was very helpful to us.
We did not complete our stay here and checked out on the 2nd of 6 nights.
- Papia (10/5): - The Riyadh was an excellent choice for someone who wanted to experience the authentic culture. My room was clean and I had a warm blanket. One of my favorite parts of this Riyadh was their rooftop. It felt so nice to be able to go up there and feel the wind, look at the stars and just relax. That part always gave me a feeling of peace. The breakfast was great! It was a traditional breakfast which I found really delicious. There is something special about this Riyadh as it gives you more of a sense of home. Zayed was the biggest helper in my trip because he always accommodated my needs. I was very comfortable and safe here. The hospitality was amazing as everyone was able to contact when I need them. Everyone was very polite and made sure I got anything I needed. This place has a warm atmosphere and very kind people. The owner of the Riyadh and everyone involved was caring and attentive to any needs I may have. They helped me navigate through Morroco. They made my trip to Morroco memorable. It's an excellent Riyadh. I can't thank enough the people who made my experience memorable. Thank you!
- Ramzi (10/5): !!!
- Cisse (9/5): Great - Clean The design
- Johan (9/5): Superb - The staff was something else, Zayed (our host) was very friendly and helpful. He made sure that we had plans each day, made sure that we were comfortable at the riad. He was the reason that I wanted to write a nice review.
- John (10/5): Quiet and comfortable place to stay in a good location - Great place to stay right in the heart of the medina Everything was great
- Abdellah (10/5): Exceptional - We recently had the pleasure of staying at Riad Amely, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by zayed, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and happiness throughout our stay. His hospitality was unparalleled—he truly treated us like family.
What made our stay exceptional was Zayed’s incredible attention to detail. Whether it was recommending local spots, organizing activities, or preparing delicious tea to unwind after a day of exploring, Said made every effort to make us feel at home. His kindness and dedication to providing an amazing experience were evident in every interaction.
If you’re looking for a place to stay that is hosted by someone who genuinely cares about your experience, Riad Amely is the perfect choice. Thank you, zayed, for making our trip so special! We can’t wait to return.
- Zachary (6/5): - Inside city walls. Clean and nasic. Hard bed. Friendly staff
- Viktoria (3/5): It was ok. Would not repeat - We liked the staff which were nice and helpful. Also the mint tea was amazing everytime. Location wise was a bit far from the streets (10-15min by foot), the area was scary. We got followed by kids asking questions and money everytime we went back to the Riad. The room it self did not appear so degraded in the photos as it is in reality.
Walls need repair, sockets coming out, most of the light bulbs are fused, there is no good outside lighting coming in the room, there is a constant foul smell coming from the shower drain (which we needed to cover and close the door to prevent it), the toilet seat was loose. No amenities were provided as well as when we arrived (later that expected) no towels or toilet were ready. Only after we came back in the evening (only 1 was given at the time). Hygiene wise it was not good at all.
Breakfast was not included in our package, however the staff asked us what time we wanted it the next day without informing beforehand how much it would be. We then asked and it is 5€. We cancelled by our personall preference. We did not enjoy Marrakech...
- Jeremy (6/5): Disappointing - Bland and basic. Met in the nearby car park and walked to the Riad by staff member which was a good job otherwise we’d never have found it. Offered tea on arrival which we declined. Room was small. Bed very hard & uncomfortable. Although clean the shower room/toilet smelled of raw sewage. Aircon worked ok. No breakfast included.
- Radosław (9/5): Superb - The location allowed us to experience a bit of local life. Abdelfatah is a very helpful and kind person. The smell of sewage in the bathroom
- Ruxandra (10/5): Friendly warm and generous bunch managing a wonderful little Riad in the medina - Loved it so much I retuned for a second round. The staff (Abdelfattah, Ibrahim, & co) are nothing short of amazing.
- AGWU KALU (10/5): - All is unique experience
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - The people are super friendly!
The riad is pretty!
We got a whole lunch for free which was delicious The beds were a little hard so it might notbe the best for the people to sleep on
- Sophie (2/5): Disappointing and uncomfortable - A kind staff member showed me the way through the medina at 6am to meet my taxi for the airport. The sheets and bath towel was stained. The bathroom smelt very bad and was very dirty. There was a hole in the wall where a window should have been, meaning lots of mosquitos came in.
- Mathias (10/5): Great experience in the old streets of Marrakech - The place is beautiful and clean, it needs few touches here and there but overall it was very nice , fatah the guy who checked me in was a great guy and we became friends, the owner Abdulrahim is very nice and hospitable , the location is a bit far from the city center but very easy to get a cab to the djemaa el fena , also took two of the tours that are provided by the owner , one to Oricka and one to Al Souira and it was great too , I had very nice stay thank you . More plants and decorations in the Riad is needed .
An electrical lock for the main door with digital code so the
Guests don't need to a human to open or close the door .
- Ruxandra (8/5): Very good - Great little riad, at a really reasonable price.
- Tiredtraveler0889 (9/5): Great place to stay, great value! - The staff are very friendly and somewhat helpful, however a language barrier did hinder us a bit. The riad is away from the loud streets and tucked away in a nice corner. The room and bathroom were kept clean as well. The shared bathroom was kept tidy and clean, despite it being shared. Beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. The location (most important IMO) was a bit of a walk but was easy enough to find. The riad is in a more residential area which made it feel more comfortable because people were not hasseling us to buy junk. The manager also shared great tips and helped us book an amazing excursion to mourzuga at a heavily discounted price (highly recommend booking the experience via the manager). The AC worked well and after a long day in the main square, was highly appreciated. I would book again upon my next trip to Marrakesh. The staff must both let you in and out of the riad, this was not as bad as it sounds but we did have to wait a few times.
- Tiredtraveler0889 (10/5): Exceptional - The location is a bit out of the way but a pleasant walk to the main square. To enter and exit require you to wait for someone to let you in and out. Several times we were delayed, the longest waiting 15 minutes to be able to leave because no one was around with a key.
- Samuel (9/5): Superb - The hospitality was fantastic and the location was excellent.
- Tudor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anowar (10/5): Very nice place. Friendly guy working there. Super helpful. 100% recommend - Clean and affordable
- Robbie (10/5): Perfect stay with perfect hosts - Our stay here was faultless. The riad was beautiful and we had a lovely welcome when we arrived. Room was decent size and had everything as described. We didn't have breakfast but it was available at 50MAD per person. It is located more within the local neighbourhood of the medina but we found this to be a bonus to our trip to see a little of Marrakech away from the tourist centre. Some hand soap in the bathroom would be good.
- AGWU KALU (10/5): - Everything is excellent
- Singh (9/5): Superb - They don't have shampoo and shower and the guy stopped me entering the room next day whereas I have the booking and I showed him.he was very rude
- Kaoutar (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Warm, friendly, helpful, family feel. Great hosts. - The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Amazing food. Picked us up from airport and dropped us off when needed. Helped us with trips, directions and printed boarding passes. Showed us around city. Helped with all our needs, gave us coffee on the terrace, they went above and beyond! It's a bit hard to find but the staff will come out to greet you on arrival
- Sameh (8/5): Very good -
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional -
