Guest Reviews
- Glen (1/5): - Never got to stay there as they had somehow double booked the room with another guest. Absolutely appalling. We had to find last second accommodation elsewhere as we had commitments in Brisbane that weekend. Terrible excuse as to why it was double booked Everything
- Alex (9/5): -
- Mr Robert (9/5): - The character, space, 2 X river views, massive patio, great location to Southbank. The single garage is so small you will struggle to get a large 4WD in it. No hot water for a while but was fixed within the hour which was impressive. Entry keypads are a bit confusing, but you get used to them.
- Rebecca (8/5): Helpful host, great location - Great location, close to where I needed to be. Super helpful host. The stomping on the floor, moving furniture scraping on the floor and dropping things from the neighbours upstairs all night into the early hours of the morning and then starting again the following morning. The traffic noise.
- Silvana (8/5): -
- Raymond (3/5): Not impressed with check in. Failing batteries on door locks. Old apartment with old doors. Handles on doors in disrepai - The difficulty it took to get in to the room. Money was taken from my account before we had to complete a form to get into the property. Perhaps complete all details when it is booked instead of the day you are supposed to check in. The property was on a Main Street with no where to park. The management needs to rethink their system of operations to make it simpler for guests.
- mark mc grath (10/5): - The apartment and gardens are amazing. The location is perfect. My family had a lovely holiday staying here. I highly recommend it.
- Meredith (9/5): Charming accommodation in a concrete jungle - This apartment has such great charm, beautiful timber floors and a cute balcony overlooking the river. The location was fantastic, only a short walk to Southbank parklands, across the Goodwill Bridge to the Botanic Gardens and we walked to the Gabba as well. The upstairs guests were a bit stompy on the floor but they weren't up particularly late, it was just noticeable.
- Yushkov (10/5): Nice property, like a home) - Everything was fine
- Elsner (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Emily (8/5): All the information for the stay at the property were very easy to follow.Property was in a great location, Very comfort - Great location to Southbank Brisbane
- Bradford (3/5): I regret booking this place - Close to Southbank, easy to find. Good shower pressure. - no lift
- we found a dead cockroach
- mould in the bath/shower
- noise from upstairs and road/ motorway
- separate website with extensive requirements to complete including inputting credit card details which is against booking.com rules
- garage was tight, we had a Honda CRV
- rubbish bins were blocking the garage and we had to move it when we arrived and when we left
- uphill/ downhill going to Southbank
We didn’t finish our two nights stay, we left the next morning. The host is responsive but honestly I was put off with not being allowed to check in early even 15mins earlier. This is definitely an Airbnb type of accommodation, lots of rules you need to follow, they also have a price list for things when you break them. Will definitely not book again and would rather use a hotel with easier process. I regret booking this place.
- Lisa (10/5): - What a beautiful homely chateau. From the moment we arrive it felt like a second home. A beautiful balcony off the bedroom looking over the Brisbane river. Had everything we needed and felt cosy and warm. Will definately be back again.
- Cristina (4/5): - Place was clean I was very disappointed with the booking and registration process. What should have been a simple registration turned into hours of back‑and‑forth emails, even after the fee was already paid.
I understand ID verification is necessary, but the repeated requests — including “selfies” — felt excessive and made the process far more complicated than it needed to be.
The place itself was fine, but the process to finalise the registration was frustrating and unnecessarily time‑consuming. I wouldn’t go through this again.
- Anastasia (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Cozy atmospheric apartment - The heritage apartment was pleasant, and the host polite and friendly. This is the second time I’ve visited the premises, and I am still satisfied.
- Alana (8/5): Lovely place with easy access to city. Would definitely stay here again! - Very spacious
- Lynda (9/5): The convenience to the Mater Hospital was absolutely excellent for my family visiting my sister… The unit felt very comf - It felt very homely and comfortable That we couldn’t open the door from kitchen to verandah and the glass on door was filthy
- Jemar (9/5): Great location, super close to SouthBank, great voew of the river from the balcony. - The location is perfect, a short walk to South Bank and a lot of good restaurants nearby. The view of the river from the balcony is amazing and the property is secure. The property is not sound proofed so you can here everything from the road - but he it is city living so no complains.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Very helpful friendly host. Spacious clean apartment with all necessary items, simple check in procedure. Nothing.
- Adeline (9/5): - Very beautiful place balcony is a nice touch. Easy check in and out instructions to follow. Host was easy to contact.
- Susan (1/5): I would not recommend this property manager. She’s called “Olivia” but each time I called to try to resolve, a different - The property manager charged me to stay and cleaning fees and the information to enter the property was never sent, so I did not stay Didn’t stay, they want an inordinate amount of personal information outside of the booking platform while they already have your payment through booking.com. It seems to counter the booking.com policy. They charged me for my stay plus cleaning fees and didn’t provide the entry codes, so I’m out all my money and had to go elsewhere and pay for my stay.
- Alexandra (1/5): - Was asked to provide card details to pay a further $500 deposit via a private link after we had already paid for the accomodation via booking.com (against booking.com rules).
We then called accomodation to speak to them and could not hear anything they were saying (sounded like an overseas number).
We called booking.com who said it’s probably a scam and to request a refund and not stay
- Kylie (9/5): Staying here made our short trip so enjoyable - Price, location, security, car space, spotless, it had everything we needed.
- Ann (9/5): - Size, location facilities Needed more milk and coffee
- Kristy (9/5): -
- sami (6/5): - The location of the apartment. The house windows too old then any little noise
on the street affecting inside the apartment.
Also not too clean, not enough cooking staff.
- Maree (4/5): - Spacious No sound proofing on very busy road.
Tedious check in and out process through online applications that did not work well.
Car parking very tight- unsuitable for medium or large cars.
- Jo (8/5): -
- Tristan (8/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): It was good and will stay again - Clean The beds
- Ryan (9/5): Loved it, would gladly stay again - thank you - Beautiful property and very homely. Some solar sensor lighting required outside near entrances and doors. A grab rail or hand rail to climb in and out of shower/bath - safety mat in bath tub for non slipping. Very dangerous getting in shower and out without anything to grab onto.
- Julie (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Jody (10/5): Will stay again! - Great location, plenty of space and a comfy little home, close to hospital and run paths! Parking was tight for our ute length ways
- Sharni (10/5): - Great stay, will stay again There were no issues
- booth (7/5): Lacation good but noisy - Fantastic location to Southbank and the WACCA The garage door was broken on our arrive.
better instruction on specific location and key access. For example use full works not abbreviations like G2.
Very noisy and nothing was turned on we arrived even requiring us to connect the TV to the internet
- Priya (7/5): - Amazing location, view and great sized space. Aircon in all rooms and lovely & spacious. Check in details were sent over a bit late and the upstairs neighbours were very noisy, however would recommend for a short stay/ weekend.
- Julie (2/5): I would never stay there again and three other tenants said the same. - The size of the apartment.
- Libbybeth (6/5): Okay stay, but not as comfortable as expected - Location was handy, it was clean and tidy. The property was well presented, however we found the overall stay less comfortable than expected. The bed was extremely firm and it was noticeable that it was made up of two beds pushed together, which impacted sleep quality. Pillows were also quite minimal and very flat.
The check-in process required completing multiple links and forms to access property information, which felt a little cumbersome compared to a more straightforward hotel stay. Unfortunately, between the comfort issues and the check-in process, the experience didn’t quite meet our expectations and we would likely opt for a hotel next time for ease and comfort.
- Lara (10/5): Great host, good communication, easy access to Southbank. Very comfortable beds. - The style and the space
- Paul (9/5): Great Location for Gabba , Southbank & Ferry into Central - Clean Spacious Easy Check In
- Anne-Marie L (8/5): - Cleanliness, location, convience. A few areas under the house where the dog could escape out of the yard.
- Andrew (7/5): Allowed us to have an enjoyable couple of days at the Ashes. - Convenient to the GABBA. Easy keyless access. Everything was fine. Light in the room with the sofa bed is flickering.
- Luke (10/5): - Location was fantastic, parking is great although for only small cars max 1.8m
- Angelo (10/5): - The location was excellent and central able to get to riverstage and restaurants. It accommodated all the guests well and was spacious. the facilities were great also if you wanted to stay longer. I liked it all, the stay was great, not much to complain about.
- Lexie (10/5): -
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Matt (10/5): -
- Larissa (8/5): - Location, parking Poor water pressure
- Darren (2/5): Great location, poor experience. - The property was in a convenient place with nice views. The toilet did not work for the majority of the stay, communication about fixing the toilet was poor. Needed to call the plumber back to replace a part.
Considering the things required to book the stay was more than I’ve ever had to go through, I would expect the toilet would work.
Even after raising it, the property disputed that it was not working asking for photos, videos etc
A double and two singles was requested but the two singles beds were pushed together.
- Kirsty (10/5): - Excellent location. We had to be close to the Queensland Children’s Hospital for my daughter to have treatment so it was perfect. Nothing, it felt like home away from home.
- metcalfe (1/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): -
- marfleet (7/5): It was good - Location was good just caught ferry over to QUT for a concert I parking garage was so tight I scrapped the side of my car
- Terrance (10/5): Home away from home - I loved the retro, homey vibe. If you like a 'home away from home', this is perfect. As a female on my own the building felt safe and secure. Very easy walk to the uni where I was based for the week.
Everything I needed. Everything comfy. 💜
- van Willigenburg (8/5): -
- Allyson (10/5): -
- Doug (9/5): - it felt like a home no heads up on a one way clearway road after 4.00pm. When trying to find a building with no visible street number and no visible signiture that matches booking name. Recommend giving clients description (the garages are at footpath edge) and distance from nearest traffic lights to building. also it is on the left side of of three lanes of one way traffic. but apart from that excellent place.
- Dion (8/5): - Near and today. Good instructions Fairly basic amenities
- Jules (10/5): I would stay for a return visit and recommend it to my friends and family. - So spacious and really comfortable. Lovely vibe and close to everything we needed.
Olivia was extremely helpful and very kind. Nothing
- Khanh (2/5): Very uncomfortable with noise, mouldy ceiling in the only one small bathroom. - Very noisy, next to highway, also noise from bad insulation with other units around and above, could hear footsteps, furniture moving. Only one small bathroom with moldy ceiling, shower in bathtub with rusty shower head. TV put too high on the wall, got tired eyes and neck to watch.
- Rachelle (10/5): 10 out of 10 would recommend and we will be back! - The overall aesthetic is just beautiful, and the location is perfect!!! The communication from the host was second to none, Olivia is so attentive, and you really just feel like you are visiting a friend.
- Harry (1/5): Horrible. Do not trust Brisbane Riverside Chateau/San Luca. It is nothing like the advertising. - Nothing. This place was not as advertised. The owner/manager was deceitful. Not as advertised. No realistic parking option. Not a Motel/Serviced Apartment. This is a B & B. Very deceitful Owner/Manager (Olivia Harris).
- Huong (9/5): - NA NA
- Maria (9/5): Great location and very accommodating - Great location! And great sized place for a family of 4. Host was brilliant with communication and very friendly too!
- Robert (9/5): -
- Kim (3/5): Nor great, don't recommend - It's a lovely heritage building The check in process was insanely confusing and there are stairs, which wasn't listed and my mum is recoverfrom chemo and really struggled.
The hot water ran out and we couldn't have a shower before the show we were in the city for
It was really noisy re traffic, and the blind in one bedroom wouldn't wind down so u are blared with early sun
Not neurodivergant friendly at all
- James (10/5): -
- Judith (6/5): One small container of milk in fridge not enough for a two day stay, as no convenience shop nearby - Difficulty with having to put in access codes in 3 different locations, especially at night time. Very poor lighting on the stairs leading up to the apartment external access door, and no hand rails to help elderly people getting up or down the stairs in safety.
- Lovell (9/5): Would stay here again . - Location and very comfortable and clean
- Dianne (8/5): Our stay was great and we would return to this accomodation. - My husband suffers from a dust mite allergy so we usually bring a vacuum cleaner with us when we travel. We did not have to use it, the unit was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils making meal preperation easy. The view of the river was lovely. The location was noisy. Although being across from a hospital and being on a main thoroughfare in a major city this was expected.
- Kylie (9/5): We will come back again. Everything kicked our box. - The property is a boutique apartment in a fantastic location. Parking was provided, and if extra was needed wasn’t too hard to find. I just felt the sofa bed could be updated a little uncomfortable.
And if could double glaze windows would cut down traffic noise.
But you expect that when you’re in a good location and an old-fashioned apartment
- Jackie (3/5): - Very close to hospital. Apartment is spacious and overall has a nice feel to it. Host responded relatively quickly to messages. The booking process outside of the booking.com platform was really clunky and made the process really unpleasant. We requested a high chair which they said was available but was never provided even when we contacted them to let them know it wasn’t in the room. Accommodation is not suitable for small children as there is lots of stairs and no lift. One of the blinds had black mould on it.
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing stay we loved our time here and in a great location. We would stay again - Clean, cosy, great locations Garage was small for parking (but that’s nit picking)
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional - The unit was spacious. Well equipped out. Spotlessly clean. Excellent facilities. Nice view. All rooms are air conditioned. Electronic entry to get in and out. Good location if you're OK to walk to surrounding areas. The garage was bigger than we were advised, so we fitted our RAV 4 hybrid in without any issues. Less mobile people need to know the shower is over the bath, but I believe you can see that in the photos. I have suggested to Olivia to provide a non-slip rubber mat for the bath if any guest needs it. COMPLEX and Frustrating communication. We booked through booking.com. But it then goes to a 3rd party that requires additional ID other than what you have provided to Booking.com. That made it complex. The host was overseas, so there was a communication barrier. I paid my security deposit, but I kept being asked for it numerous times. I had to make so many phone calls, but it did not fix the problem. There were negative reviews, so I sent messages to the host prior to booking, and she assured me that all those issues had been sorted out. Not so!!!!!. Then my security deposit didn't come through for 10 days. That also took many phone calls where numerous excuses were given. I had to get booking.com to intervene. The unit is lovely, but it wasn't worth the ongoing frustrating issues you have to deal with. .
- Christie (8/5): Heritage charm - Great location for what our stay was for, everything we needed was walking distance. Loved the homely feel of the place. Staff did their best to accommodate after our room was double booked we ended up taking the 2bed which resulted in me having to sleep on the couch but that didn't dampen our stay. Would stay there again. Being from the country the traffic noise made it hard to sleep at night, will definitely be more prepared for that next time.
- Sarah (1/5): Bad - This property was in a good location and appeared to be clean .... that I noticed for the 15 minutes we were here. This is NOT a 3 bedroom unit. It is a 2 bedroom unit with a fold out lounge and a child cot in the small alcove off the 2nd bedroom. This would have been fine if linens and bedding were supplied for the fold out - however they were not and a call to the property only resulted in being told on repeat that I had booked a 2 bedroom property not a 3 bedroom. We were unable to stay as we needed 3 bedrooms for our team and as it was the middle of winter we couldn't have someone sleeping on a lounge with no bedding. At this time I was told a refund would be organised. Unfortunately thr next day i spoke to a different person and they declined a refund. Communications with the property were extremely frustrating and very disappointing and they have refused a refund dispite me providing evidence of my booking (which clearly states its a 3 bedroom). Their story changed constantly however their comment of "we will stick to our policy of no refund" remained consistent and they refused to cancel the booking.. The blame at one point was also put on me with them stating "you booked for 3 people, how were we to know you wanted the fold out made up?" Personally I would have thought that booking a 3 bedroom unit for 3 people would have made it quite obvious, otherwise I would have booked the cheaper option of the 2 bedroom option.
For the record - if I had booked it as a 2 bedroom it would have been lovely.
However in my case a very disappointing and upsetting experience that has set me back over $1000.
- Peter (3/5): Good loaction, property description is misleading and staff are not that helpful. - Good location Staff tried to charge us for linen for the third bed which is not really a bed but a very uncomfortable sofa bed. The description is very misleading as this is not a 3 bedroom apartment.
- Jane (10/5): We enjoyed our stay very much in Brisbane ! - The location gave us a beautiful view of a section of the Brisbane river ..which was really lovely. The ironing board was not new nor had it been fitted with a new ironing board cover! The one offered was not able to be attached and fell off whilst trying …to iron shirts etc ..it was very worn and should not have been offered to your customers who visit an expensive location to experience a holiday in Brisbane !!! Please attend to this prior to your next visitors !!!
- Rory (9/5): Superb -
- Walt (10/5): Brilliant apartment. Close to the river and public transport. - Close to Brisbane River.
- Julie (9/5): Lovely apartment in a characterful building - good location! - Such a warm, sunny and charming property which felt homely and comfortable. Great location close to Southbank restaurants, the ferries and across the road from the Mater private and children’s hospitals. Our apartment felt very reminiscent of one we stayed in in Rome. Good value for money and no extra charge for parking. On a busy road so there is traffic noise. Parking is a challenge during peak times as you must turn off into garages on the footpath. I suggest you park on the street, walk to get the remote in the lockbox and then you can drive straight in. You’ll need help to back out as there are walkers and scooter riders going past.
I would rate this property even more highly but for the ridiculous rigamarole around booking and checking out. There is a $500 security deposit and an additional $15 fee (which is not refunded.) You are asked to provide photo ID and then are given access to a guest portal which is full of information some of which was useful but other info is around charges for breaking absolutely everything including the tv, right down to wine glasses. When I mentioned the mould on the bathroom ceiling I was asked to provide photos and I couldn’t be bothered as we were only there for two nights. Incredibly we were asked to provide a photo of the remote back in its lock box to prove we’d returned it!! I left behind a pillow which I mentioned and again was asked if I had a photo of it. It’s such a shame that we felt like we couldn’t be trusted as I’d love to stay there again on our frequent trips to Brisbane. We were also asked to put out the wheelie bins - down a flight of stairs, through a coded entry and out on to the street? No light on the stairs or rail down to the street. This could be a great property. Good communication from the host with heaps of sweet emojis couldn’t quite take away the feeling of a lack of trust. Shame, as it could be wonderful!
- Jennifer (4/5): Disappointing - The property was easy to find however on entering the property we found it to have some issues at the front gate. The property manager got back to use quickly however the issue was not resolved quick enough and we found excessive mold in the bathroom. Black sporous mold can pose significant health risks and this matter should be resolved. It was not worth the money, and I was very disappointed and would not recommend the property.
- Mohaitao (8/5): Very good - Location is convenient for ferry, value for money. Clean and well equipped. The flat is old with thin insulation means it is super noisy at night, the traffic noise definitely affected our sleep, weekend night was crazy, ambulance passing through with sirens very hour, simply no sleep.
- Damir (9/5): Superb - Easy check in and check out. We attended for work at the Children's Hospital, which was very conveniently located.
- Lysiane (9/5): A very enjoyable stay. It was too short and will make it longer next time. - Everything was great. Access to city, South Bank, restaurants, supermarket, public transport, views, cleanliness. The short in the bath a little bit slippery. It needs a bath mat.
- Despina (9/5): Superb -
- Vaughan (8/5): A frustrating pre arrival process but a well located stay - It has a great location close to the Gabba where my son and I were off to the football that night. Also easy walking distance to the station for our train to the airport next day. The very worst, intrusive and clumsy pre arrival requirements I have ever encountered. I book and stay in hotels world wide and have never encountered such a poor process. I had to provide way too much ID and credit card information online prior to my stay, none of which should have been necessary given en that all these details are held on Bookings.
- Sally (7/5): Excellent location but I couldn’t go through all of the pre arrival hassles again. - Location That you have to pay a foreign exchange fee when your credit card is charged because the owners are overseas. This is NOT disclosed when you book. They also want you to send a copy of the front and back of your credit card and your drivers license for the deposit (red flag for me as this could lead to identity theft) As it was too late to cancel without loosing the full payment I called the contact number. I was told I could call with the card number in the 7 days before arrival. Three calls resulted in no one being able to do this. Numerous text messages to sort it out were had, then asked to again send the card and license pictures to get the check in instructions. My card actually charged the security deposit (not just a security hold on the card) then on the day of arrival I messaged to ask if I had been scammed because no instructions had been provided. Finally they came through, quite a stressful start to the weekend. Also if you would like to check out any later they will charge you (even if available that night) no goodwill given.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Lyndal (7/5): Great location but the couch needs replacing and you need to talk to the neighbours upstairs. - Location to hospital, spacious, clean. Lovely view to river. The couch in the lounge is far too low to the ground and uncomfortable. As the only couch this was disappointing. I had a sore knee whilst I was there and it was a very impractical piece of furniture as it would be for anyone elderly or with mobility issues. The neighbours above were very noisy. For 2 out of the 3 nights they were making loud noises that kept us awake until 4 am. As much as everything else was great, I had understand this is out of your control. As it’s an old building the sound echoes very loudly through the ceiling. Suggest they also put felt on their furniture as they drag them around!
- Maree (5/5): Pleasant stay - Great location was able to walk around to most places. and very big and roomy apartment. Beautiful views of the river and city too. Good security doors. Host was helpful Only one air conditioner in far bedroom was working. Toilet seat was broken and mattress was lumpy and hard. Pillows to high and hard. Only a 2 seater lounge and one arm chair in lounge room for 5 adults. Handles on the windows are old and falling off
- Julia (2/5): Place was fine, experience of booking and checking in just awful!! - The actual accommodation was good. Large spaces, good location, clean, easy to access. Despite the positives of the accommodation above I just could NOT go through the admin and booking process again!! Awful experience. Prior to getting the information to access the property you are required to give a great deal of unnecessary information and a $500 bond (not mentioned at the point of booking) They provide a very odd/dodgy looking link to pay this bond (one that you would never in your right mind feel comfortable about clicking on and paying) You are also required to pay a $43 credit card surcharge (not refundable) for the pleasure of paying it! I made contact with the host who stated I could pay via EFT which I did (as at this stage I had not choice but to go through with the booking) and then they couldn't track my payment and wouldn't release the check in details. In the meantime I continued to get autobot messages requesting to pay the bond via credit card. I ended up having to go to the Booking.com support to get help as we were travelling the next day. Then, on my return it took 2 weeks and a LOT of chasing up to have the bond returned. Please save yourself the drama and additional cost - def not worth it!
- Young (7/5): Great location, clean and tidy and great amenities. - Very central. We could walk to restaurants in at Southbank and walk into the city. Also conveniently located across from the Brisbane Mater hospital if you needed accommodation close by. Great river views and the property is very quaint. Loved that it was fully self contained and had a washing machine and dryer. If you're not used to traffic noise, it is a very busy location and you could hear the traffic all night.
- Lynne (10/5): Exceptional - It was a perfect place for a couple of days in Brisbane. Close to Southbank and a ferry ride to the city. Parking for a second car was a little difficult and expensive. We needed ear plugs at night because of the noise from the freeway.
- Ramon (10/5): Exceptional -
