Guest Reviews
- Julie (7/5): Good overall - Location No toilet roll in the bathroom at all, strange housekeeping error
- Steph (9/5): Comfortable & relaxing - There was only one member of staff in breakfast who was rushing around. It took about 10 mins to be served and at that time there was only3 people in the restaurant.otherwise every thing was great
- Sonia (10/5): Comfortable, stylish room, good facilities. Clean accommodation. Great staff. - Friendly staff, restaurant was superb. No hairdryer in the room! No big deal-i didnt ask for one at reception though
- Gradden (5/5): Fantastic spot a real shame about the feeling once inside. - It's location, the parking and the meals.
Only two of the staff members were welcoming. The rooms were very basic for the price.
There wasn't any cupboard space to unpack our clothes ect
The windows are not covered fully with blinds or voile so privacy is compromised unless you draw the curtains fully in the day or night!.
Some of the staff members around the bar area need to be trained in how to greet guests and create a pleasant environment to be in.
The meal prices are a little on the high side .
Drinks prices are very high compared with other venues nearby.
The hotel still looks and feels like a one night stopover only. A real shame as we hoped for so much more.
- Carina (6/5): Nice and convenient to for Chatsworth. Few aspects which made the stay not that comfortable. - Great location for Chatsworth. Hotel was pleasant for an overnight stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty enough. Easy check in process. We stayed in the room with bunk beds which was nicely furnished. However.....Tap wasn't connected to the basin and just flopped about made it hard to turn on water! There is one small window which faces out to the main road. We stayed on a warm evening. There is no air conditioning in the room. We had the small window open as much as it could have been but a very stuffy room and nosy due to front facing location. The breakfast was nice but waited about 35 minutes for a cooked breakfast. Staff were friendly and attentive.
- michel (6/5): - personnel sympa obligation de chech-in électronique.
pizza du restaurant, peu garnie...
- Mahoney (9/5): - Clean room and friendly staff Electronic check in
- Jonathan (8/5): - Great room, comfy bed, polite staff. Food was over priced for was basically a plate of pasta with sauce.
- E (9/5): Really nice east hotel set in beautiful grounds - Place was lovely, nicer than the pictures.
- Carl (7/5): - Location with bus stop was good as we don't drive so we went where we wanted to go. Staff are friendly particularly Colin who was attentive and knowledgeable. Very nice place with good facilities. Great breakfast selections. Some faults with food, although food wasn't bad. For example steak on menu but no sauce to go with it, (Steak was ok but have had much better for similar price) need at least a peppercorn sauce as an option. Food was good but could be better. Bit of a mix up with check in and room but nothing too bad.
- Julian (5/5): functional - Tired interiors
- Gill (9/5): -
- wendy (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable Nothing
- Peter (7/5): Wonderful hot powerful shower and huge fluffy towels. C lovely views with cows in the fields right next to hotel. - Lots of well lit parking
- Candice (8/5): - Location and view from the window.
Extra's teas available. Unsure of how to check in at the beginning, very hands off approach.
- Emily (9/5): Lovely little hotel - Looked amazing. So clean. Views fantastic.
Very quiet in the evening so easy to get a good night sleep.
The restaurant is nice and the staff were really friendly. Nothing to dislike.
- Jo (9/5): Lovely hotel in a peaceful location - The hotel is in a fabulous location. The rooms were very clean with tea, decaf coffee and water provided. The bed was really comfortable.
- Davide (8/5): -
- Marcus Gosling (9/5): Clean, quiet room, polite staff, good location to access places in the Peak District - Clean, quiet room, polite staff, good location to access places in the Peak District and surrounding towns. Nothing of note. Everything was satisfactory.
- Jill (7/5): Good for an overnight stop over - Room is comfortable and clean. Bed was comfy. Teas/coffee and biscuits were provided. Views from our room were great. Very easy to access the Peak Park, particularly Chatsworth and Bakewell. Location is just off a busy road so need to be careful when entering as many cars are moving at speed.
It is self-service book in and check out which seemed very impersonal.
There are no towel rails and no easy place to put soap/shampoo etc in the shower so they soon start floating! (PS the shower itself is great)
- cecilia_lei (10/5): - The location and the room are spot on. The shower is brand new and so powerful Nothing.
- Sarah (8/5): Beautiful stay at a reasonable price in a wonderful location. - Still has character, quiet, good parking, good food, well situated for the Peak District Dark brown paint everywhere, Chatsworth teal blue would be far more inviting. It looked as if it was in a 70’s time warp in the accommodation corridors.
- George (10/5): -
- Kevin (5/5): - Clean budget friendly. Great breakfast. Bed comfy No plug near the mirror to dry my hair. Pillows very uncomfortabke. Floors very sqeeky.
- Aija (10/5): -
- Rob (4/5): Not worthy of the Chatsworth name - Staff helpful in resolving issues Tiny sparsely furnished room
- Stephen (9/5): - Staff and building No beans at breakfast ran out and no pork belly at dinner
- Derek (8/5): One night stay, nice room and great pub. - Well laid out property.
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- GERARD (9/5): gewoon fantasties - medewerker zijn super vriendelijk
- Paul anthony (6/5): - Breakfast was brilliant The hot tap turned off the wrong way rather annoying, use too the normal way then getting in bed and finding out tap is still running!! especially in a morning or at night time.bed not comfy

- Denton (1/5): Ice Station Zebra - The location I have stayed in this hotel when it was a Premier Inn many times in the past.
It was as they always are warm friendly and commodious.
In its new guise it was not.
The reception is now in the restaurant and I was directed to a computer screen by the manager.I waited till he could deal with me and was given the key to room1,which suggested as I had booked the room only 24hrs before that they were not busy.
The room was like Ice Station Zebra, cold, with the window open and no heating.
I sought out the manager who showed me how to turn the heating on.
The bathroom had human hair on the floor, two towels in the bottom of the bath and toilet paper floating in the toilet.
The food was OK and the lovely lady waitress recognised me from previous visits.
I sought out the manager and told him of my concerns and he offered me a free breakfast which I declined as this did not address my concerns.
I will never ever return.

- Warman (10/5): - Clean freindly staff
- pearson (10/5): - Loved the location, accommodation separate from the pub lots of parking spaces, staff lovely and really helpful. Rooms are very basic nowhere to put anything if you were staying for more than 1 night, maybe other rooms cater for longer stay, breakfast is a little pricey
- Barnes (10/5): -
- Sven (10/5): -
- Natalja (8/5): -
- Ahamed Luthfi (9/5): This is a wonderful place to stay. - This is a very clean and beautiful place. I really like the interior and how the concept of sustainability and green travel is promoted in this place We did not have a swimming pool and my kids did not like that
- pam (7/5): acseptable - the continental was ok bed comfy bar staff need to be friendly ladies serving breakfast very friendly needs to be shampoo in rooms .mugs cheap nasty in rooms for £100 a night
- Johnnie (4/5): Got off to a bad start but improved - We never had the breakfast The room was not what we booked and I will be looking for a refund
- Shirley (8/5): Comfortable hotel, right price, in the right place. - This hotel is in just the right place for me. Check in was easy -I had completed it 3 weeks before as well. A little face-less but it worked. The breakfast provision was good - I only had continental (my choice). The option to pay less for this would have been appreciated.
- Mike (10/5): Perfect location on our journey, providing clean comfortable accommodation with excellent attention - Excellent. Great choice and staff on hand to explain options. Hot food was delicious and plentiful cold alternatives We liked every aspect of our satay
- DOMINIQUE (7/5): Pour faire etape. - Tranquillité ! Un peu isolé. Pas de Wifi.
- Neil (8/5): - Good location for us Issues with keycards to access rooms
- charlotte (7/5): -
- Ramandeep (6/5): Good - Breakfast was nice Didn't realise it was previously a premier inn. All fixtures and fittings etc identical. Either hotel needs a refresh or it should be advertised as previously a premier inn.
- Warren (8/5): -
- Tracey (7/5): Love staying at this hotel while visiting my daughter in Wadshelf - Reception staff very nice and chatty. Breakfast ladies fantastically welcoming and friendly. Remembered my preferences from previous visits.
Amazing view from hotel window. Evening meal (Sunday) pretty poor
- Peter (8/5): -
- Jude (8/5): -
- Carol (9/5): Comfortable hotel in great location - All fine. Quiet room with bath and lovely view from our bedroom window. All fine in hotel although attached restaurant was very noisy and not much menu choice.
- Chintan (8/5): -
- Nelson (8/5): -
- Dawn (8/5): - The breakfast had a good selection The bed was far to hard
- Adrian (9/5): Great value in a great location. - My experience at The Hide was great. Nice upgrade from the former Premier Inn. Nice heating, hot showers, clean room. For the money good value.
- Jan (8/5): - Net gerenoveerd, ruime kamer. Fijne locatie nabij Chatsworth. Incheck is wel heel efficient maar ook erg onpersoonlijk, geen mens gezien. Ook jammer dat je niet binnendoor naar restaurant kan (met slagregen).
- Susan (9/5): -
- Helen (10/5): -
- Curtis (9/5): -
- Michael (7/5): Better when premier inn. - Good Difficult to check in even after doing it online.no hairdryer.
- IAN (5/5): Wouldn't have wanted to stay for more than a night - The Location was good.
The parking was excellent.
The Breakfast was fine. The Room was freezing when we went in, so much so that we thought a window was wide open, and i really mean FREEZING. My partner stood on the wall radiator once we managed to turn it on, with her coat on for the Hour or so before we went down for an Evening Meal.
It was literally Hours before coming up to a comfortable temparature.
Surely having pre booked the Room (25) should have been pre warmed for at least a little while.
Also there was no Toilet Roll in the Bathroom.
Those 2 things alone where pretty basic errors.
The Evening meals where Ok, but nothing better. My medium rare, Sirloin Steak was, more medium for half of it & very Bien Cuit for other half, plus it had too much fat/grizzle on!
My Partners chicken was a bit dry and strangely had a salad drenched in vinegar!
Also the menu didn't seem to know what it wanted to be, a bit of fine dining, with pizzas & burgers!!
- Sally (8/5): -
- Glyn (10/5): -
- Tina (5/5): - Clean and tidy, family beds where made this time round. The rooms are too dark, more lights are needed. Need more colour in the rooms.
Very little toilet roll on the holder. When we first walked in. There where spares.
Still no staff for checking in.
- james (8/5): Lovely location - Location and views were beautiful, very close chatsworth house Nothing really
- Yoanna (10/5): -
- Pauline (7/5): -
- Martin (7/5): Good location but the room had some issues like : no socket by mirror - no comfortable chairs to sit on - not enough hoo - Location and room with a view The signing in process - (like to see a friendly face on arrival )
- Barry (9/5): Great location, refreshed hotel with great breakfast - Great location for the Peak District, recently refurbished so looks and feels good and room was smart and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, especially the service Not so sure about the self service check in, I prefer to be welcomed to a hotel. It was the first time I’ve ever had no welcome.
- Rachel (8/5): - Convenient location for our needs in the Dales! Comfy bed, great shower, cosy and quiet for a restful sleep. The automatic check in worked really well, but meant we didn’t see any staff. No problem for us, but worth knowing about.
- Julie (8/5): - James and Jill could not help enough. Excellent customer service. Matress too soft but thats personal preference
- Emma (9/5): -
- paul (8/5): It could have been better breakfast should be included in the price - Location was good breakfast good The heating did not work
- Suzanne (9/5): -
- Carl (8/5): Would use again - Location, clean well kept Room 21 could only be locked from inside so we couldn’t leave anything in the room when we weren’t in there.
- philip (10/5): lovely - food was great nothing
- Jude (9/5): -
- Gary (8/5): Nice clean, comfortable, reasonably priced and perfect location for Chatsworth house - Clean, comfortable and the staff were very very good. Food was good and we’ll stay there again. I’m not a big fan of the digital check in service. But a member of staff was on hand to help us.
I don’t want this to put people off but they did have an issue with no hot water in the morning. Due to an problem with boilers failing. The staff member was excellent and did eventually get it sorted so we could shower after we’d had breakfast.
- sally (7/5): Ok for 1 night.Evening meal was good but again felt the dining area lacked coziness, soft furnishing - Location for Chatsworth visit made it great.
Good shower, effective heating, comfy bed Decor along corridors lacked warmth and character.
Bedroom very sparse, not even a chair. Decor lacking, quite basic.
Not welcoming for a hotel
- John (9/5): Very comfortable overnight stay, with a lovely breakfast. -
- Roy (6/5): After the initial annoyance, overall pleased with our night here - great location for our trip to Chatsworth House, food for our evening meal was really nice and well priced and the room price was very competitive The check in machine was a faff, we had to go through it twice , as we had 2 rooms, and because they were both in the same surname we had to find our booking numbers. Then it wanted to know info about all of the guests and passport / id numbers. Then when we got to our rooms, one had no toilet roll, and the other only had 2 milk sachets for tea or coffee. No wardrobe for hanging clothes.
- Wesley (10/5): - The property was very close to Chesterfield and also to Chatsworth House. The room was a good size, very warm and the bed was comfortable. Also there was a large parking area for the car N/A
- Geoff (9/5): Perfectly fine, with stunning views… - The room was good, it was described as “comfy” so I was expecting something smaller, but this quite spacious. The shower was decent, and overall, it’s a nice place.
I arrived in the dark on a brisk November night, so wasn’t quite expecting the lovely view when I woke up. That alone pushes it up the ratings. On a frosty morning like I had the countryside around the hotel is breathtaking. I wish I’d had time for a good walk around.
- Glynis (8/5): - Room size, dog walk from the door, food Very few staff, electronic check in/out and very limited information. I had called the werk before to clarify that parking at Chatsworth House is included (a per your website) and was told to collect from staff sfter b'fast. Staff knew nothing about this and no management in attendance. Very helpful chef made some calls and found a solution but I suggest this needs to be clearer as it took 1/2hr to sort (thank you Mr very nice chef!)
- Eleanor (9/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): Warm inviting place, spacious, clean and excellent location should you want to visit Chatsworth House - Location, spacious, modern and clean The staff need to go back to basic customer service training …
I shouldn’t have to ask for another drink or to have my dirty plates taken away after a 30 min wait !!
Young untrained staff are not the way forward for a newly opened establishment ….
The breakfast staff and food itself I couldn’t fault.
- Kirstie (9/5): Lovely hotel, decent breakfast, beautiful location - Clean room, nice breakfast No one to assist with check in, older guests struggled to check in - tv remote didn’t work in the room (batteries need changing)- No cash payments, disappointing for us as we mainly use cash.
- Susan (10/5): Great location and very comfortable - Location and the very helpful & knowledgeable staff - I want to make particular note of the great service from Debbie. The food in the restaurant was very average I would definitely stay again but not eat there
- Hildur (7/5): - Really nice food. Good service. Comfortable room. Good sleep. Check in and check out. Check in by yourself didn't work so ended up having to ring up to try and sort it. Check out by yourself didn't work asking us to pay again even though we already paid so had to try and ring up again to try to speak to someone. NOT impressed
- Nigel (8/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Enjoyable in every way with great staff. - The Hide has been refurbished to a high standard with real care to detail as you would expect of a Chatsworth property. The food was well prepared with good quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. The provision of lockers for walkers boots, the walking guides and the dog shower were very thoughtful extras. No negative comments.
- Andy (5/5): Overpriced - Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The price and the fact said price didn't include breakfast!
- Colin (9/5): -
- Fleet (10/5): -
- Annette (8/5): Pleasant and good location for event - Breakfast good. Staff very helpful. Very comfortable beds. Self check in not working and no instructions how to check in alternatively.
Nowhere to hang used towels in the bathroom.
- Lois (7/5): Good stay - some refinements required but a good experience overall - Breakfast good but too big for me - would have appreciated a smaller alternative or even a bacon or sausage sandwich option. Quite expensive at £15.99 but as said it is large - too big for me! We could have shared one! No chairs in the room which was meant that you couldn’t sit up properly after eating dinner if you wanted to go back to your room. Chairs would have made a big difference.
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): Good location - Comfy rooms, good location for access to the Peak District Nothing
