Guest Reviews
- Bradnock (10/5): Calm and peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings - Beautiful surroundings and scenery
- Paul (9/5): Serene indeed - lovely hotel run by very nice people - Beautiful building recently refurbished - my room had lovely views over the extensive grounds. The couple who run this place were very pleasant and helpful. Fresh fruit for breakfast was a nice touch I was a bit surprised there was no TV or tea making facilities in the room. Maybe they could enhance catering in the future - with so few options nearby it would have been good to have an evening meal in house.
- karla (10/5): Fantastic - Hosts were so helpful - I had an 8 month old baby and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The couples children were also fab, helping us carry our bags in on check in
- Richard (6/5): - Soap dispensers in bathroom practically empty. No glasses for drinking water. Emergency exit door to rear access door had ‘Staff only’ sign’ as well as ‘Emergency Exit’, bit confusing? 0 No obvious house name visible from a drivers perspective. A4 size house details in window of front door.
- Amanda (10/5): - Very accommodating
- Lona (8/5): Lovely staff and exceptionally clean, new mattress please. - Lovely property, exceptionally clean! And the staff were lovely and helpful! The mattress was very uncomfortable, we had a lovely room with twin beds put together, my husbands mattress was comfortable however mine felt every spring.
Also would be nice to have water glasses in the room to have a drink of water.
- Gillian (9/5): Superb - Lovely comfortable room Very clean
- Cope (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (9/5): Lovely place (in spite of several issues) - Lovely place. Spacious room which was very clean, very quiet and very comfortable. Brilliant shared kitchen (that was designed and fitted out for professional use) and a lovely shared dining room. Apart from some issues with check in, no hot water and no central heating in the evenings and nights, it was a brilliant place to stay. Check in was very poor. I didn't know it was self check-in, I didn't see the email about the lock box (sent too late) and I didn't know which room we were in. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink had no water coming out of it. But the main problem was the central heating radiator which wasn't on in the evenings or at night (just in the morning until about 9am). After several messages, we got a fan heater which was very welcome on chilly April evenings and night times.
- Clare (7/5): Good - Bright, clean, quiet The bed was hard and the heating never came on in our room, so we used the provided blow heaters.
- Joanna (7/5): Large, comfortable house with beautiful garden. - Parking good; the house was comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen we were able to use, for self-catering. The bedroom was spacious with an ensuite shower room. The bed was large and very comfortable with good quality bedlinen. There are no tv's or a kettles in the rooms which we didn't mind - just something to be aware of. The house is keycode entry so we didn't meet anyone which felt a bit impersonal. The bedrooms were quite cold when we arrived but this was rectified when another guest called the telephone number we had and was advised on how to turn the heating up. Fan heaters were also then provided.
- Deep (1/5): Bad -
- Martin (7/5): A good bolt hole once water issues sorted. - Spacious The hot water wasn’t working when we arrived needing a bath/shower!
- John (9/5): Home for Home - Lovely friendly couple, looked after us like we were family Minor detail, no soap or shampoo in bathroom, but was soon rectified
- Sioned (8/5): Very good - Clean and comfortable
We stayed for two night during the Royal welsh Winter fair , great location, not far in the car from the showground
The owner was lovely and very welcoming, would definitely stay here again
- Lisa (10/5): Loved it. Will be using it again for business trips to the area - The lady running the place was lovely. Brilliant communication before my arrival, friendly and accommodating
- Jenny (10/5): Clean, hospitable and lovely decor. - Fantastic hospitality. Debbie and her husband could not do enough for us. Would have been nice to have a kettle in the room but there were access to hot drinks at all times in the dining room.
- Iwan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmel (10/5): Lovely place and people were very accommodating as arrived later than planned - Everything was perfect Nothing
- John (10/5): Lovely - We had such a lovely time in this beautiful place...
- Lucy (8/5): Very good -
- Cathrine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elaine (10/5): Spacious, comfortable , great value for money and very hospitable. Will re book when next in the area - Room was spacious and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated. Huge garden where we could walk our dogs and peaceful. The communal area of the dining and lounge were also very comfortable and welcoming.
A dark sky area we were very fortunate to see The Aurora that night too.
The takeaway continental breakfast was very welcomed as we had to leave early for a dog show.
We will return next time for sure. Nothing
- Ben (10/5): If you want to switch off from the world please stay here it is stunning - Possibly the most peaceful hotel I have ever stayed set in a stunning location and the staff are absolutely amazing
- Sandijs (10/5): Amazing stay, heartwarming welcome, great rooms - Debbie and her Partner was amazing, very welcoming. Clean rooms and size was great, lounge huge. No TV’s no distractions, just relaxing stay for one night, definitely consider to come here again. Requests full filled.
- Hudson (10/5): Exceptional - Was very clean and a beautiful place, and the breakfast was nice As we were cycling we had to go to the next town a few miles away to get food
- David (10/5): Lovely - Lovely house with plenty of room and a lovely old bath Nothing really except perhaps unskimmed milk in lieu of semi-skinned
- Joshuabluew (10/5): A peaceful and rejuvenating stay in a beautiful setting, with spacious rooms, exceptional cleanliness, and a fantastic h - **A Tranquil Escape in Wales - Highly Recommended**
I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Retreat Serenity House in Wales and was thoroughly impressed. The property boasts large, spacious bedrooms that offer ample room to relax and unwind. Everything was exceptionally clean, which made the stay even more comfortable.
The setting is absolutely beautiful — tucked away in a quiet, peaceful area, perfect for a serene getaway. Whether you're looking to enjoy nature or just escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this location is ideal.
One of the highlights of the stay was the host. They were incredibly welcoming and ensured that everything ran smoothly, which made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Overall, The Retreat Serenity House offers the perfect balance of comfort, cleanliness, and tranquility in a stunning location. N/A

- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the place was like a mansion. Nothing
- Lindsay (10/5): Peaceful! - We loved it here! It really is a retreat in the welsh countryside. There is no tv for this reason. Staff are lovely.
- Pradeepa (9/5): Excellent 😀 - Calm and quiet environment .. super clean 😍
It was a great time .
- Jamie (8/5): lovely place very clean and tidy with a great host - beautiful building room was spotless host was lovely and helpful there was super fast broadband but the WIFI didn't reach upstairs, Its newly renovated and opened so with time hopefully there will be wifi extenders
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Eliel (9/5): Superb -
- Andrei (1/5): Bad -
- Simon (4/5): It could have been very pleasant if there had been hot water, heating and TV but it was inexpensive. - Breakfast was non existent except for coffee/tea/fruit juice. The rooms were clean In spite of it being mid August, the outside temperature was 14 degrees and the rooms were cold. There was no heating - it took half the night to get warm under a king size duvet folded over to double its thickness. There was a shower but no adequate hot water for a bath which would have warmed me up. There were no staff, no television & no breakfast except for drinks. There was a toaster but nothing to toast. The Wifi was free & worked. It felt somewhat 'Spartan' with the impression that it had been newly refurbished and decorated and although very clean a little more work is required to bring it up to an acceptable standard. The owner sent helpful messages about location and access and sounded genuinely warm on the telephone. It's a pity that it was not physically warm also and that some simple breakfast such as bread/cereal was not provided as there is little else in the locality, especially on Sunday when the nice local Post Office is shut.
- Jeni (9/5): Superb - Staff tho not there were brilliant v accomadating and helpful via tex and phn
Stunning properly .. beautiful rooms .. no tv which was different but accualy v nice .. gardens are stunning and decor is georgous ..
V comfy spotless accomadation definatly will stay again 9.5 outta 10 just needs a few little tweeks which would make it a 11 outta 10 Sat nav took us to a little lane opp a caravan park ..DONT TURN DOWN THE LANE .. go back to main rd and then ul turn left.. then left onto a v shaped slip rd junction.. that rd takes u to the property opp a church on a bank
.
#hopefully owners see this as constructive from a clients point of view#
Curtains were hung on the ring hooks instead of proper curtain hooks on the rings so they were hangin off .. also to small for the window so didnt shut had to use my hair clip to keep them closed .. needs a blind on the window or black out curtains as we woke at day break.. .. needs a hook by the shower for towel and a shelf by the sink for toiletries
We were in room. 12 lovely massive bed only discomfort was the join of the matresses needed a strip of quilting over layed ontop of the seem .. but bed was v comfy and lovely n warm room
- Oliver (9/5): Superb -
- Filip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (6/5): It’s called the retreat for a reason - Clean and quiet location , complimentary drinks in dining room No hot water to shave or bath (shower fine) and if there was there was no mirror to shave and dresser had no light so makeup difficult for wife
No TV in room or in lounge so maybe that’s why it’s called the retreat
No drinks tray in room
- Sofia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pawel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is perfect
- Claudia (10/5): Tina was lovely and the place was absolutely gorgeous! Would highly recommend the place. - The garden is so peaceful. You also have the option of a nice lounge to use.
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful peaceful relaxing experience - The house and my room was just stunning. My room was beautifully and tastefully decorated. A really lovely idea to have a lounge and dining room at our disposal which were also beautifully designed and decorated. I had such a good sleep, bed was so comfy. A peaceful and tranquil location. I Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Poppy (10/5): Exceptional - the location of this place was very pleasant and quiet, the atmosphere was very welcoming from when we walked in. the people that run this place are just lovely, very helpful and generous.
- Ruby (1/5): Bad - Got an email a few days before to say there was a glitch with booking . Com and we couldn’t stay here as it was double booked. Money still gone account and no sign of any refund after emailing requesting this.
- Marion (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay at the retreat. I’d definitely recommend staying if your in the area. - Lovely property. Very clean and comfortable. Made to feel very welcome Although tea and coffee was available downstairs. Would be nice to have it room.
- Tomash (9/5): A nice, quiet place with a homely, cosy atmosphere and very friendly service - The hotel was freshly renovated, the interior design was done with taste and at the same time homely, it gave the impression of a very cosy place, it also had a nice garden with a fireplace and swings next to the flowing stream of a small river, the staff was amiable and helpful. We will use the services of this hotel in the future Generally, everything was as it should be, apart from a couple of small nuances, such as the lack of a mirror in the bathroom and a set for making coffee and tea in the room like a hotel, a welcome tray with a kettle, it would be nice to have something like this in the room.
Apart from these small nuances, that's it for the first stay.
- Edeyle (10/5): Exceptional - We stay in quite a few hotels for different reasons but this was the best night's sleep we have both had in a hotel for a very long time, possibly the best night ever! Very comfortable. Couldn't fault anything. Beautifully decorated and quiet in the countryside which we love.
