• István-Lehel (10/5): Best stay ever. - Our stay was absolutely perfect! This was by far the best hospitality we have ever experienced. Davide was incredibly kind and helpful from the very beginning — he even helped us with our luggage, offered us a scooter for free to explore the area, and prepared the best breakfast every morning. Since we were on our honeymoon, he surprised my wife with flowers and a bottle of wine, which made our stay extra special and unforgettable. The house is in a beautiful location with an amazing view, far from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to everything. Thank you, Davide, for making our honeymoon truly magical! We would rate 11/10 if we could! Highly recommended.

• Taylor (10/5): IF YOU ARE READING THIS, BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION!!! - My partner and I stayed here for three nights, and it was without doubt the best hospitality we have ever experienced – bar none. Davide and his sister, Federica, are beautiful people who made our time in Santa Margherita a standout highlight of our European holiday. The property overlooks Santa Margherita, offering postcard-perfect views of the bay. You can enjoy them from the bed (!), the private terrace, or the pool. We spent hours on our terrace with a glass of vino, watching boats roll in and listening to the garden’s gentle sounds. The room itself was spotlessly clean, with modern finishes and every amenity you need. We wanted for nothing during our stay. Davide drove us wherever we needed to go, offered us use of his scooter, recommended the best places to visit and eat, and made sure every booking ran seamlessly - even contacting our private boat tour guide to confirm the details. Breakfast each morning was delicious: fresh fruit, juice, coffee, focaccia, and restaurant-quality eggs and bacon. One evening, we decided to stay in and enjoy the terrace (the view is that good). Without us even asking, Davide told us when dinner would be ready, then surprised us by organising some of the best local pizza along with his family-made limoncello. He delivered it to the minute. You can’t script this kind of hospitality - I was genuinely blown away by his effort and care for his guests. It’s no coincidence Davide has perfect reviews from everyone lucky enough to stay here. • Garner (10/5): Perfect! Family like hospitality in a stunning location. - An absolutely perfect spot perched in the hills overlooking Santa Margherita and Portofino. Peaceful setting in private building seperate to the main house, surrounded by beautiful gardens with panoramic views from the windows in front. Lovely terrace with umbrella and sun beds along with table for breakfast in the morning. Best of all is the amazing hospitality from Davide and his family. We felt like we were cared for by a personal family friend. Nothing is too much trouble. Delicious breakfast every morning and Davide even ferried us around in his car and picked us up from the town after dinner etc (it is an energetic walk up steep hillside roads otherwise). It is a little way out so needed to drive for dinner and Davide took us in to Santa Margherita Ligure in the day to catch the ferry to Portofino.

But the location was very difficult and made it hard to be independent. We prefer to stay in places where we can walk everywhere but this was impossible from this accomodation and we became reliant on Davide to take us everywhere. Location

I only wish we could have stayed longer with Davide's hospitality. Although not centrally located, Davide was very willing and available to shuttle me around, which was like having a private tour, and a good local friend.

• Janice (10/5): Beautiful villa, unbelievable views, and attentive and gracious host. - What a gorgeous view from this property of Santa Margherita and Portifino. Huge windows to see the views from your bed. Well appointed and the host Davide was unbelievable. The bed was most comfortable and the entire property was landscaped and beautiful. Davide went above and beyond and even took my husband and I to train station and picked us back up late that evening to keep us from dealing with the driving and parking at train station. The breakfast was also delicious and in another beautiful setting overlooking the beautiful Santa Margherita. I would stay here again without question. The lovely lady who made and served breakfast (her name escapes me) was also so hospitable and kind as well. There was absolutely nothing to dislike - ten out of ten

He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, from restaurant recommendations and reservations, suggestions of what sites to see, rides to and from the center of town or the train station, and help with calling the rental car agency office. Breakfast on the terrace every morning was delicious (made more so by the spectacular view of the sea. He made a point to ask what we wanted for breakfast, I said I wanted a maritozzo, so every morning, along with my cappuccino, fresh fruit, focaccia and bottled water I had a delicious maritozzo. Staying here is like being a guest in an Italian home, rather than being in a corporately owned hotel.

He took us to the town center every time we needed during our stay. Also Picked us up after dinner and shopping which we did not expect any of those. Breakfast was fantastic! Whatever we wanted to eat he prepared for us. There are two swimming pools, both were very clean and had a view of St.Margaritas bay! The room was immaculately maintained. We love it! The sink of bathroom was so cool, however the water splash a bit on the wall tiles. It’s not complaining though.

• Aindow (10/5): Perfect! - Absolutely amazing place. Such a wonderful location with fantastic views over Santa Margherita. Davide and Zaida were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was first class, made to our personal preferences. Davide offered lifts every day to and from the town. We like to walk and there are steps all the way. Going back up the hill gets the heart pumping and works off the ice cream! We visited Portofino by boat, it was stunning. Also San Michele is a nice beach location and an easy walk.

If there's one thing that made our stay truly outstanding, it was Davide, the incredible owner of the house. He deserves not just 10 stars, but 1000! Davide is the perfect host—friendly, responsive, and incredibly dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The house itself is nothing short of amazing. It was spotless, well-organized, and had the most breathtaking view directly from our room. Waking up to a stunning sea view every morning was an experience that words can hardly capture. Breakfast at Davide's is an experience in itself. Each morning, he would ask us what we wanted, and he always delivered beyond our expectations. The local food was fresh, delicious, and included the best focaccias we've ever had. Davide's dedication to making our stay enjoyable extended beyond the accommodation. He assisted us with restaurant reservations, ensuring we dined at the best local spots. He also helped us even arranging a motorbike. No request was too big or too small—Davide was always there to help with a smile. We loved everything about our stay and are already dreaming of our return. If you're planning a trip to Portofino, staying at Davide's place is an absolute must!
• Philip (10/5): Fantastic place along with superb hospitality of Davide / Da Higgins - Everything about this place was great including Davide the host who went out of his way to make our stay 5 star. He made himself available to take us out to Portofino or anywhere locally during the day or for evening dinner so we could leave the car in his secure parking area in the grounds of the villa. Continental Breakfast was superb served on the terrace overlooking Sta Margarita. I believe it's called Da Higgins after Magnums butler in Hawaii 50. I think Magnum would have got on just perfectly with Davide.! The entrance to the Villa was difficult to find and perhaps Davide could place a removeable sign on the gate when he has guests staying? The only negative point was the very steep and narrow driveway but Davide went out of his way to ensure that the car came in and went out without any issues. My car is a very wide Bentley Continental so all normal cars going there will not have a problem.

• Charlie (10/5): Exceptional - We had an incredible stay at da Higgins. The room was beautiful and clean and the location perfect with absolutely stunning views over Santa Margherita. What really stood out during our stay, however, was the exceptional and truly family-oriented level of service. The hosts served an amazing breakfast customized after our needs, provided great restaurant and acitivity recommendations and - not to say the least - offered us to borrow a vespa to easily get around in the area. This stepped up the entire stay and enabled us to have a proper Italian experience. We would absolutely recommend da Higgins and would not hesitate to go back!

• Andrei (10/5): True Ligurian hospitality - Da Higgins is by no means a typical accommodation in Santa Margherita Ligure, it represents a true immersion into the Italian hospitality experience. You will stay in a boutique residence perfectly distanced from the hustle & bustle of the city center. The property itself is fantastic, composed of an authentic, charming Italian villa surrounded by a beautiful garden with numerous places to wind down and relax, including a terrace and a small swimming pool. The view from any location inside the property (rooms, garden, terrace) is absolutely breathtaking. Breakfast was served on the terrace, local, rich in variety and very tasty. The room was spacious, beds very comfortable and overall decorated with great taste, attention to detail and quality of materials. I was also surprised to find amenities that numerous 5* hotels offer only on request (slippers, dental kits, etc.) The residence is owned & managed by a local resident who has a clear gift for hospitality. Davide went out of his way to provide a wonderful service that exceeded our needs and expectations. Among other gestures, we were served a delicious home-made Focaccia and Limoncello made from Davide's own lemon garden. We are looking forward to returning to Da Higgins very soon and experiencing genuine Ligurian hospitality.
