Guest Reviews

Nada.
- Stefanie (10/5): Wir waren sehr happy!

- Jessie-Leigh (5/5): - The location to public transport and shopping centres was fantastic! The pillows were literally paper thin and when you’re staying for a long period of time. It’s incredibly uncomfortable. Would recommend bringing/buying a decent pillow if here for more than 1-3 nights.
- cristiano (7/5): Pricey essential for London - The location was good, quite dark the little street to get to the door but overall fine. Also the house was nice, self check in is a plus so you don't have strict times to get to the place and can plan your journey accordingly. The landlords were in touch via whatsapp to plan everything. Before arrival (on the same day of check in) a long message listing all the rules and terms you must accept to check in otherwise they won't share the door code. This should be agreed a little earlier in my opinion as you don't have much options. One of the agreement was that towels should be returned without stains. I paid extra care to avoid any inconvenient.

- Kenneth (10/5): A wonderful stay for a solo budget traveler, away from the touristy sections - This is a nice spot away from the touristy areas. This is a room in a terrace house with a private bathroom. The use of space in the room is clever, with the TV built into the centre of the wardrobe, which also houses a small fridge in one corner. And there is still more than enough room to hang and stack your clothes.
The small table at the foot of the bed with a couple of chairs is a nice, useful addition too. If you need to have a meal in the room, you can do so quite comfortably. This guesthouse has a Lidl nearby, as well as a Chinese grocery and a convenience store, (all within 10 minutes) so getting personal supplies, simple food and drink, is very easy. (As I mentioned above, my room had a small fridge in the corner of the wardrobe). I used all three of those local shops at various times. Lidl of course has those pre-packaged meals that don't require heating up so that's handy if you have a day or evening off and don't want to eat out. There is in fact a microwave that's available for guests as well but I didn't use it.
The bathroom also uses its limited space well. The shower has good hot water pressure. The toilet and basin is in excellent condition.
I stayed in London during a cold spell in November where it was 0 to 2 degrees at night. I didn't have to use the radiator in my room! The whole house appears to be kept at a very cosy temperature.
The public transport options are very good. A 15 minute walk to Surrey Quays station (Windrush line) or a 25 minute walk to Canada Water (Jubilee line). But even better is that that from the main street (3 minutes from you door), the 47 and 188 bus lines are 24 hour bus lines so if you miss the last train, you have some options.
Best of all, the communication from the guest house managers is excellent, with helpful tips for visitors.

- Eder (6/5): Good value for money if you don't care about cleanliness - Good value for money.
Good neighborhood, with some restaurants and good supermarkets nearby.
Easy access to public transport, although the metro is a bit far away. Cleaning is definitely not their strong suit. During the 9 days we were there, nobody showed up to clean the common areas like the kitchen and bathroom.
The hot water from the boiler ran out for two days, and we had to take cold showers. The host wanted to know what time we would be showering so he could turn the hot water on (or off). When I said I would like to take two showers, he replied that I could only take one hot shower per day.
- Wing Kwan (10/5): - Our stay at Bird Nest was truly fantastic! The host provided wonderful support, including comprehensive pre-arrival information and prompt, professional, and sincere responses to our inquiries. It was clear that the host genuinely understood and considered the needs of travelers, preparing everything guests might need in advance.
The location was excellent—highly accessible to two underground stations and very close to a bus stop, offering various convenient options to reach central London with different travel experiences. The guesthouse itself was spotlessly clean and tidy, equipped with all the essentials we needed, especially the kitchenware, which was simple but perfectly sufficient for travelers.
Additionally, there was a wide range of cuisines and great restaurants nearby, and supermarkets like Lidl and Tesco were within walking distance, making our stay even more convenient.
We highly recommend Bird Nest and have already rebooked for our next visit! Not specific.
- Mofenyi Maimela (10/5): - The host, more than anything.
Lav was so accommodating, communicative, clear and looks after his guests. Error 404.
- Linda (6/5): Okay if you're looking for something cheap and quiet. - The area is very quiet. The price value is pretty good, considering it's London. Public transport is fairly close by. It's an old house, and thus a bit shabby-looking. I found the bed uncomfortable. Don't expect too much of the listed amenities. I found the bathroom to be smelly, but my boyfriend did not.

- RJ (10/5): Will surely be back again. - The area it is so close to central London. Easy access for the bus and the tube. NONE
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Alex and Lav were very supportive and kind, making sure we had a great stay. The place is very close to several bus stops, a 10min walk to the overground and 17min walk to the underground.
- Strawn (5/5): Passable -
- Tara (8/5): Very good - Good space, peaceful location. The owners were helpful and friendly.
- Doaa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was good and clean. very near to the bus station.
staff was helpful to us .
- Omar (5/5): Passable -
- Mario (10/5): Wir kommen wieder! - We stayed as a couple for 4 nights in this lovely accommodation. The landlords are very friendly and the entire process of checking in and out was uncomplicated and very customer-oriented. We were able to move into our accommodation earlier and also stay longer and all at no extra charge. The satisfaction and well-being of the tenants is very important to the landlords and they regularly inquire whether everything is in order and are always available for questions and recommendations. The room is small, but has everything you need and is very clean and lovingly furnished. The accommodation is in a top location and you can reach any part of London in no time at all by public transport. We would like to thank you again and are already looking forward to our next visit.
- Sadia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jenny (7/5): Very good.. - Eclectic neighborhood. Walking distance to public transportation and have groceries and restaurants nearby. Bus 47 will take you near Tower Bridge and Bus 188 to British Museum. Very clean and secure place. The bus will take you to nearby train stations Surrey Quay - overground and Canada Water Station - underground (Jubilee Line). You can also walk to Surrey Quays, 0.4 miles from Birds Nest Residency and get off at Canada Water station and catch another line to go downtown.
- Antonina (10/5): Very nice! - 'It is the person that maketh the place' - and Lav really made the place wonderful, he even offered to show me around the historical part of the borough when we both had free time (which sadly never happened, but it is the thought that counts). I cannot praise the location enough. As someone already mentioned in their review, this place really makes you feel like a Londoner. You'll take the tube (or the bus) to get to the centre regularly (I tried walking once, and honestly it wasn't too bad), and get to experience the variety of local shops and restaurants nearby (I really liked the local fish-n-chips place). The Thames is a 15-20 minute walk away, Greenwich Park is also pretty close. You'll get to share a kitchen with other guests, which is another opportunity to socialise. All in all, a great place. Not the host's fault, but there is nothing in terms of soundproofing of the rooms, so if other guests get loud during the night (TV or just talking) some ear plugs might be a good investment. Talking to them also helps, of course.
- Amin (10/5): I’d book it again. - The host, Lav, was a great person. He not only helped us with the place, but also helped with places we need to visit.
- Jan (9/5): Great value for the price. Clean and cozy. 15minute walk to the underground, 2minute walk to the bus. Quiet neighbourhoo -
- Anika (1/5): Bad - It was the worst experience i have ever had and I have booked a lot of hotels through booking.com. First of all, this is not a hotel at all, so be aware! There wasnt any hot water at the facility and they are currently trying to make me pay an additional GBP 1400 for a small Dot on the carpet, which I absolutely did not cause !!! It is horrible and I wouldnt recommend anyone staying here. If the real hotels are 3 times the price - book them anyways. These guys will try to scam you for everything you got
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb - Just what I needed for a short stay in London.
- Alberto (9/5): Superb -
- Lola (8/5): Perfect residency for a small trip, good location and very nice host ! :) - I really liked the Bird Nest Residency ! It's at 5-10 minutes in bus from an underground station (Canada Water), Bus 47 and 188 are near the house, which is easy to find.
The instruction to enter were very clear, without needing a face-to-face arrival, which is very practical. The room (number 3, on the ground floor) was a little small at first sight but perfect for a small trip. There is a huge wardrobe, a desk and the bed is comfortable.
The bathroom and kitchenette on the ground floor are shared(which was not a problem, we did not see other people). The bathroom is new and clean, looks perfectly like the pictures, and towels are provided.
We spend a very good 2 days trip, it was nice to be near London centre, and it's safe to come back to the residency at night !
The house manager was very nice, easy to communicate and understanding !!
I definitely recommend :) - No full shutters or curtains in the room, which thus was light up in the morning and at night, it was a little bit disturbing to sleep sometimes :( and you cannot open the window. It was the main flaw of the room for us.
- Walls and ceiling are thin, you can easily hear your neighbours moving around the house, and you also have to be careful with the noises you are making, BUT it was NOT constantly noisy.
- The toilets are not separated from the shared bathroom, which sometimes can be tricky if there is someone inside when you need to go :')
- Maybe a little bit of decoration in the room and a shower gel included in the bathroom and this residency would be perfect ! :)
- Leah (8/5): Very good - The room and facilities were very good and I had a nice view of the street. I booked this room as it was near to where my daughter was living so the location was great. Bus stops are located close to this property. Unfortunately, one of the house rules is to take shoes off at the door. When I entered my room in the dark, I broke my toe when I kicked the leg of the bed which is very close to the door.
- Viktoria (9/5): Londoner feeling - As it is a Guesthouse, I really liked the privacy of everything - the check-in, the stay and everything else. It felt like really living in London as a Londoner. It was also very clean and compfy. It has a perfect distance to the subway and bus stations. A big Tesco extra is 10 min walking away, as well as restaurants and other supermarkets or food places. It also is quiet and peaceful in this region. I didn't really mind but my friend I travelled with said that the bed was a little to small for two people. As we weren't lovers but just friends, we didnt cuddle, so we tried to stay a little apart on the bed.
- Rooty (8/5): Very good - The room was great Only kitchen facilities were a toaster and microwave. The matress was very soft. After paying, the manager sent over the t&c's. In it there were some scary chages for things like stains on towels £60, and bedding, £180. The quality of both did not in any way reflect the charges and I think they should have been made clear before payment was taken. It felt like a bit of a scam to get more money but now I think it was just to be certain that guests looked after the place.
- Connie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loliya (8/5): Very good -
- Jorge (1/5): Bad -
- Joris (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly host, possibility to park in front of the residence, super comfy bed.
It is nearby very good breakfast restaurants and different bus stations.
- Elisabeth (10/5): Brilliant stay. - Good location.
Value for money.
I had good sleep.
I had a really good time. I was happy with everything.
- Francesco (7/5): Good - The room was cozy and the price was affordable comparing to the rest of the options. The room was full of signs to explain how to do what, how to open what, how to clean what. The glass of the shower needs to be clean immediately after the shower. Pity that the condition in which we found the bathroom as we first came (with hair from other guests and dust) were not as good, as to expect guests to clean after showering.
The roof had some kind of wet patch/leak during the stays
The informations about not over use hot water should be reinforced to the other guests, as I tried to took a shower at 8:40 am and there was no warm water left. That was quite a bummer.
The small kitchenette, although there in the common area, hasn’t been used once because it felt too close to the other rooms and to the shared toilet.
The distance from city center was the main problem. Of course I knew that from google maps already before making the booking, but in the reality and considering the cold, the walk to the tube really takes too long. Especially if you are going to be in the city all day, the return feels like forever. The buses to the city are not reliable as we took them twice and both times they stopped because of complications on the road.
- Violeta (10/5): Nice stay - It is in a nice and calm area. Room was spacious and clean. The host was kind enough to upgrade my room. Very nice and property very close to the busy station.
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simeon (10/5): Fantabulous. I will gladly recommend this property - The residence has all the basics you need for your stay in London such as Microwave, free wifi, kettle, refrigerator, and very serene. It is also very neat. You can either do a shared bathroom or standalone room with its own bathroom. It also proximity to places where you can get consumables or food like McDonald’s, Lidl, and TESCO. None
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Antoine (7/5): The place itself is OK but the owner is showing constant lack of trust. - The place itself is ok. The owner is showing a constant lack of trust, always threatening to cancel booking, charge cost, for any reason. Always referring to Booking.com rules. This place is NOT for people who value trust based relationships. Also the cost for the owner to come to the place in case of a problem is prohibitive (150£).
- Alastair (10/5): Exceptional - Lav was super-helpful and explained everything clearly. Clean room with kitchenette outside including a decent coffee machine.
- Sullay (8/5): Very good - I like the toilet and bathroom even though know hot water for us shower Environment
- Miranda (10/5): Guest house in London - Lav was a great host. Was extremely accomodating at both check in and check out. He was easily contactible throughout my stay as well. Close to some public transport and grocery stores as well. Facilites were clean and room was large.
- Noah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandro (10/5): Great place to have a good night sleep and discover London. - Cozy and comfortable, with everything needed, nice bed with quality linens, TV with Netflix, quiet stay on a quiet neighbourhood, accessible by bus and overground service. Nothing, everything was good. Maybe just the non-adjustable thermostat that was a bit to hot on the sunny days, but it’s a central heating unit, it’s understandable not to be adjustable.
- Omri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bakang (9/5): exceptional 😊 - great location to central London, clean, super fast Wi-Fi, and above all, the host was exceptional and very nice. there was noise from the neighboring flats due some ongoing maintenance.
- Miguel.a.f70 (8/5): Very good -
- Reza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jizhao (9/5): great - Lav was such a good host. sound proof
- Nelsy (10/5): Stylish, confortable room in a quiet, well connected area - The room is very comfortable, neat looking, got everything you need for a short stay and is walking distance from the Overground which will connect you to anywhere in the city. The host was very kind, friendly and responsive, if you need anything be sure he will be there for you! Got a bit of noise from neighbors some days but I reckon that's just London being London 😄.
- Tyler (10/5): Easy to get too, comfortable - Great stay
- Pravin (10/5): it was a wonderful stay - cleanliness and location
- Freja (8/5): Very good - Its a nice area. Invest in a longer stay and search the local corners and history of south east London Its little far away from the nearest tesco
- Katarzyna (10/5): Exceptional - Everything N/A
