Guest Reviews
- Roger (9/5): Great - Great design of the accommodation tents. Big swimming pool. On the beach. Good food and service. Dolphin boat trip and turtles hatching on the beach, wonderful! Not a complaint because the food was good but there were no restaurants nearby.
- Estelle (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Amazing location. Excellant high quality food. Dolphin boat trip outstanding.
- Magnus (9/5): - A superb beachfront location makes this resort ideal for relaxation. Perfect for those seeking peace and quiet, complemented by excellent food.
- Gillian (8/5): Rustic, great location for dolphin watching - Location by the beach.
Dolphin trip from the hotel excellent.
Food very good. Usuru was especially helpful and friendly. Room a little tired. No routine daily room cleaning or replacement towels.
- kamlesh (9/5): Relaxing spot - We liked the proximity to the beach, the pool and the very chilled ambiance. Would have liked a tea pot and some milk
- James (7/5): - The mud crab that I ate was best crab that I have eaten in a long time.
- Martina (10/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): Heerlijk relaxed!
- Greg (10/5): Stayed one night at Dolphins Beach Resort and immediately wished it had been longer. The safari tents are spacious, comf - Staff, Food, Pool, Cleanliness and the Dolphins! Limited wifi, but didn’t really need it
- Darren (9/5): -
- Paul (7/5): We stayed 5 nights and came away feeling relaxed - The staff were very attentive. The attention to detail with regard to the decor was well thought out. All our meals were delicious. The wind turbines were at times intrusive but thankfully they did stop sometimes.
- Hanne (10/5): - Heerlijk verblijf in heerlijke accommodatie!
- Phillip (10/5): Great relaxing stay with wonderful staff - Wonderful staff and great food. Thanks to Isuru for all the friendly discussions. Great trio to see the dolphins (we saw hundreds) Nothing
- John (7/5): Interesting but not 4 star - Location is good to escape crowds. Beach empty. Plenty of space.
Breakfast food was very good.
Young staff and even security guard were friendly and smiling. No fridge in rooms. Dodgy wi-fi. Poor hot water. No coffee, tea or juice offered at breakfast. Safe was clearly broken on arrival but manager ignored this.
- Melrose (8/5): Ambience was great and a very unique place - The food was excellent. The service was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful There was no signage to the property. It was a bit hard to find using Google maps
- paula (8/5): Peaceful, awesome food, supportive staff. - The staff were amazing. Kind hearted and went above and beyond when we had a difficult situation with our daughter. The food was absolutely delicious. The dolphin watching was small boat and we saw so many dolphins. A property nearby was Burning some garbage from the recent cyclone so at times it was smoky
- Ingeborg (10/5): - Zimmer sehr geräumig, sehr gutes Bett. Alle Annehmlichkeiten wie Tee et. Vorhanden. Viele liebevolle kleine Ausstattungsdetails. Essen war hervorragend. Sehr zu empfehlen.
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Amazing stay and we’re treated like royalty - Property was very special beautiful accomodation Slightly suprised it was as the base of a wind turbine and didn’t know about it before hand. But didn’t make any difference
Rien
- momosmitty (8/5): - Walking to breakfast in the sand, good menu selection, beautiful pool, rooms were cleaned daily (helped with the sand), staff were super friendly! Sometimes there was a little bit of a damp smell in the rooms, but by letting the windows/doors open for a bit it would go away.
- Liza (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Highly recommend this accommodation if visiting the area - The staff, so friendly and welcoming. Very comfortable tent accommodation. Lovely Sri Lankan food. Fabulous pool, overlooking the sea Nothing, everything was great
- Garry (10/5): Perfect place to relax and enjoy. - Loved everything about it. Great staff and food , really enjoyed it. Wouldn’t change change anything.
- Suzanne (8/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): - Everything!! No words to describe how beautiful is the resort. It was the best place we stayed for the whole trip. The manager is super kind, the staff always smiling and attentive, the food super tasty and the atmosphere incredible. The rooms are nice and clean, and the furniture well designed.
We also enjoyed a really good massage!
- Christopher (9/5): Relaxation after hectic Kandy - Loved the location on the beach - despite being the SW monsoon. Netting in place to reduce the wind The WiFi so intermittent. Kept falling in & out. Even when I was the only guest
- Ruwanpura (10/5): - Friendly staff.
Good food.
Nice location, calm and peaceful.
- Charith (9/5): Beach front property with all the amenities. - Beach front property with sandy ground throughout. Tent pods equipped with all necessities. Polite & friendly staff at your service. They arranged us a lagoon boat tour with short notice which was perfect. Having the bathroom with an opening to private garden invites bugs. Not harmful.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean; very nice staff and food. There are sunbeds in the pool. /
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely restful break with staff who couldn’t help enough - The 2 bed tents, outdoor shower, extremely comfortable big beds. Lovely helpful staff. Nothing
- Odd (8/5): Its a great place for a relaxing holiday. - It was my third visit to this beautiful glamping resort.
The location is great, and the tents Are very comftable. Beach and swimmingpool is lovely, and food is also very tasty. Some parts of the resort need an upgrade and renovation.
The windmill close by make some noise during the night.
- Jessica (9/5): Superb - Amazing service.. best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Beautiful pool and facilities. Comfortable beds and room. AC great. A little bit of paradise, can't wait to come back Beach could do with a clean up and some loungers
- Kheya31 (10/5): An Absolute Hidden gem, Dolphin Beach Resort. - An Absolute Hidden Gem – Pure Magic at Dolphin Beach Resort
I stayed at Dolphin Beach Resort for one night with my friend Arif, and honestly, I’m still dreaming about it. This place is gorgeous—a hidden gem tucked away in serene Kalpitiya that deserves way more attention than it gets.
From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted. The property is huge, incredibly clean, and so peaceful that it felt like time slowed down. The architecture is stunning—eco-chic in the best way. We stayed in one of their luxury tents, and let me just say... it was out of a dream. Spacious interiors, a thoughtfully designed bathroom, and an outdoor shower that made me feel like I was in a nature-luxe fantasy.
The view? Breathtaking. There's even a windmill nearby that adds a rustic charm to the horizon, and we loved it—it added so much character to the vibe. The pool was picture-perfect, and the whole atmosphere just made us feel like we had escaped to our own private paradise.
Dinner was beautifully arranged—delicious, fresh, and served with care. In the morning, we asked if we could have breakfast by the beach, and they went out of their way to set it up for us. That gesture alone won my heart.
I truly don’t understand why this place isn’t packed—maybe that’s part of its charm. But trust me, more people need to discover this slice of heaven. I’ll definitely be going back. If you're looking for peace, beauty, and something extraordinary, Dolphin Beach Resort is the place. Nothing.
- Jan (9/5): Superb - Fabulous little resort, beautiful setting in a coconut grove, pretend camping in tented thatched cabin with all amenities. Only abt 9 cabins. In addition to regular shower bathroom, your own outside garden shower with refreshing cool water was fun. Small menu with everything cooked to order; food was delicious, Sri Lankan and fresh fish. Beautiful little infinity pool, lots of places to sit and enjoy the sunset. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Baked my husband a chocolate cake for his bday and the boss gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. Hotel has own boat to take you out to see the dolphins - in their hundreds! Will book car etc for safari in Wilpattu for you. It is a LOCAL beach - no sunbeds anywhere, no touts, a little scruffy in places because it is natural and used by local fishermen. It is quiet with hardly any other resorts around. There are, as described online, wind turbines along the beach, inc close to the resort, but they did not bother us at all, and the nearby power station is likewise not in any way problematic. It's an easy 3 hour car journey from the airport. Would highly recommend for a simple quiet stay with access to dolphins and Wilpattu. Sunbeds and tables etc by the pool could have been given a scrub before we arrived. Would have been nice if they'd had yoga or similar sessions (they had an activity room but nothing happening, but there simply aren't enough guests to make it worth their while I guess. This management used to have two other resorts along the beach but these are currently closed since covid, altho plans are afoot to reopen them after renovation).
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - The beach location was wonderful. The tents were really comfortable and well-equipped. The swimming pool was quiet and sea two steps away. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind. Breakfast was amazing with delicious curries and dal, fruit and cakes and eggs etc. The staff arranged our dolphin boat trip and the dolphins swam around underneath us - a magical experience. Great spot for bird watching too. We highly recommend Dolphin Beach Resort - a very special place.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - We loved this hotel which is right on the beach with a big pool. The 'tent' was really luxurious, comfortable bed, great outdoor bathroom. Lovely food and helpful staff. We did the dolphin watching trip in the morning which was fantastic - saw lots of dolphins. There are wind turbines along the coast but that didn't bother us at all, would recommend this hotel and will hopefully stay there again.
- Belinda (10/5): Absolutely adored every second. The nearby structures did not bother us AT ALL - Beautiful and extremely comfortable tented resort on lovely beach. Wonderful staff and really excellent food. Very relaxing stay. Loved seeing the dolphins and superb massage. Truly unique and magical. Nothing.
- Ines (10/5): A great place to chill at start or end of holiday. - Hotel was right on the beach. We could swim in the pool and in the sea. Lovely comfortable and spacious room. Beautifully decorated. Indoor and outdoor showers were great. Food was exceptional in fact up with the best we've ever had. Service and staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Dolphin trip was fun and exhilarating even though we didn't see any dolphins due to bad weather. We liked everything.
Some people mentioned the wind turbine next door but we found it unobtrusive and soothing in fact.
- Karolina (9/5): Wonderful stay and great trip to see beautiful Dolphins. - Great place. It was an amazing dolphin trip, too. All was fine; perhaps the price is a bit high for this location.
- Veronica (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (9/5): A peaceful and relaxing stay! - Dolphin Beach Resort is very chilled and relaxed. Despite having all tents booked, it was peaceful. The wind turbines (dotted along the coastline) were surprisingly quiet, just a gentle low key swoosh in the background. The tents are spacious, the staff are great. Lakshman is very helpful and the waiting staff are friendly and accommodating. They put on a delicious buffet and party on the beach for NYE. We enjoyed the dolphin watching trip, borrowing the kayaks (for free) and the cupboard of books. Would definitely return! Nothing!
- Cyril (4/5): Not so great - Location, rooms were good, staff tried very hard to help, cook was not good, breakfasts were good. Mosquito menace, it was not under control and made it very uncomfortable. Had to seek medical advice.
- Oliver (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (1/5): Out of season for this area, so not well maintained. - The staff were very understanding and helpful. The pool was dirty, the resort was empty and the beach was not accessible as it was out of season. Sadly we cancelled on arrival.
- Jo (9/5): Welcome and relaxed luxury, with beautiful pool, great food and really wonderful staff. - The beautiful and clean pool and seating areas; the food was great. The staff were so kind, helpful and professional (particular thanks to Lacsman, Tatu and other manager who helped so much when our son was ill.) The huts were really lovely and comfortable, and the aircon and wifi were great. We loved the bathroom and outside shower and little garden at the back. Although whale and dolphin boats not running there was a good lagoon boat ride It was a shame to be there out of season, as we couldn’t go in the sea, and the flies drove us a bit loopy.
- Acela (7/5): Good -
- Mary (10/5): Excellent in every way. - Beautiful whimsical details with a rustic tropical beach vibe, and extremely helpful and attentive staff. In house chef cooking made to order delicious Sri Lankan dishes. Just the place to get away from it all. We ended our 2 week trip here and it was the perfect R&R. Spent our last day on the water with the Dolphins.
- Elisabeth (8/5): Original place to stay & remarkable food. - Amazing food & they went out of their way with a v late breakfast after a dolphin trip & an excellent packed breakfast for a 5am start the following day. Original tweaks, like using shells for taps! Only a zip up door to our room. Wind turbines dwarfing the beach.
- Justin (10/5): Best hotel stay in Our Sri Lanka trip - From the fabulous beach to the stunning and comfortable glamping tents, everything was perfect. We were so lucky to find this beautiful hotel having been very disappointed with a previous booking elsewhere. We got a room last minute. Best decision ever. Ther3 is noth8ng not to like
- Jackijavea (10/5): ❤️ Do not hesitate to book - you will NOT regret it ❤️ - Large luxurious tents on the beach with AC, ensuite bathroom and a lovely outside shaded sitting area.
Stunning quiet location with a beautiful pool and clean beach.
Super friendly and professional staff, excellent breakfast (Western or Sri Lankan), great selection of dishes for lunch and dinner - everything we ate was fabulous = 10/10 to the chef Nothing
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trevor (10/5): Exceptional - magic way to end our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka; with a couple of nights ar Dolphin Beach. Pool was the kids favourite and in the sand; with magical sunsets. Family tent was great and everything worked and the Dolphin boat trip in the morning was truely amazing Noting
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sanjaya (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff, fresh food very nice atmosphere. Bar facilities
- Billyb21 (4/5): Great location let down by the appalling weather - Great staff and location The weather was really bad - it rained the entire time and the facilities were over run with flies.
- Cumaran (9/5): Superb - Direct access to the secluded 'private' beach. Very friendly & accommodating staff with tasty food available throughout the day. The accommodation was indeed glamping, but better shower facilities would have been the cherry.
- Schumacher (8/5): Very good - We were only there half a day and one night and it was off season therefore we didn't get a good chance to experience the facility. The staff were excellent and the dinner and breakfast they provided was some of the best we had in two weeks travelling.
- Bas (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, brilliant location for kitesurfing.
- Fiona (9/5): A beautiful spot, calm and relaxing. - The rooms are gorgeous, very clean and comfortable. I loved the tent theme, the outdoor shower was the best. All of the other areas were comfortable and clean. The pool was lovely, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious.
We were out of season so very quiet and unable to do any water activities as the sea was rough. Nothing
- Shlomi (9/5): Superb -
- Anja (9/5): Superb - The people were very friendly and on top they put in a lot of effort to help us collecting our lost luggage from the airport.
- Sindhuja (9/5): We enjoyed our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer! - The food was great, freshly prepared delicious meals for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The staff is super friendly and goes out of their way to make things comfortable for us.
- Alex (7/5): Good - Staff was extremely service minded.
Nice big "rooms". Due to few customers was the choice of food very limited which was very disapointing since we choosed the pace for their description of restaurants.
All in all the whole set-up need maintenance.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goran (8/5): Very good -
- Priyan (9/5): Great place to relax and enjoy a warm swim in the ocean - Stunning location, comfortable tents, very friendly and attentive staff Outdoor bathroom tended to attract wildlife
- Subhan (7/5): Lovely stay close to the beach. - Location
Staff
Food Rats running above the tent sometimes.
Ripped inner fabrics. Should give concern on this. Other than that it’s such a nice stay.
- Alexey (10/5): Exceptional -
