• Sonja (4/5): Niet bevallen - De kamer was prima met prachtig uitzicht. Bij het hotel kan je een bootsafari boeken, dat kan ook op andere plekken in Bentota. De bootsafari was erg leuk Het hotel is niet geschikt voor toeristen. Het hotel bevat 2 grote feestzalen en er worden daar veel conferenties en feesten gegeven wat resulteert in zeer veel geluidsoverlast in de kamer. Wij zijn 2 dagen geweest en beide dagen hebben we geluidsoverlast gehad. De tweede nacht begon het feest om 23 uur tot 4 uur ‘s nachts. De geluidsoverlast is echt heftig.

• Chintan (9/5): Value stay, great view. - Loved the view from the rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean with adequate amenities. The washroom layout is a little weird, with the bathtub unnecessarily taking up too much space and the shower having very little space and placed in a strange spot. But the hotel is great, right on the river with a great view of the backwaters. They have a nice lawn area near the pool which is great to eat and click pictures. It's also a wedding place so the place was quite lively. Breakfast was really disappointing. Especially for vegetarian options, there was hardly anything available except for Bread and juice. The restaurant in general has very limited options for veg even for room service. Should be better. Also water and things should be available 24 hours which was a little challenge.
• Kamani (4/5): Wasn't great - N/A There was no English breakfast and we asked if they had eggs to which they said no. Later saw they did an egg to an English man. Which was quite disappointing. We did ask before booking if there would be buffets for dinner or breakfast, they said yes and kn the daboth breakfast and lunch had no buffets. We did ask and was told because there quite a few people so wasn't worth doing it. So we were given false information.

Although limited on two days that the hotel held a function The Hotel on the ground floor looked very tired and is in need of decoration The Hotel seems to thrive on the Corporate, Banqueting and other functions, and when they have a function the guests seem to take a back seat Pool area good but 4 out of six sun beds were broken. Downstairs conservatory could do with brightening up and the garden areas could be made much more inviting
• Claudia (6/5): Far away from being a 5-star hotel - The location of the hotel was great. A lot of restaurants and shops around and close by. The room was big and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and always very helpful and responsive. The overall impression of this place was quite unprofessional and not what we expected from a 5-star hotel. It all started with a very brief check-in, without any explanation about breakfast hours, the location of the dining area, or where to find the pool. When we arrived in our room, we quickly encountered cockroaches. On our way to the reception via the staircase, we saw more dead cockroaches on the floor, which were still there 5–6 days later. This also highlighted a general lack of cleanliness throughout the hotel, even though our room was cleaned daily. After reporting the issue, we were given another room, which slightly improved the situation. Unfortunately, the experience did not improve much when visiting the pool area. Almost all the sun loungers were broken and rotting, piled up in a corner, and the pool water was dirty and had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast offered very little variety, which led us to eat outside the hotel almost every day, despite breakfast being included in our stay. Last but not least, the WiFi didn't work half of the time we stayed there and we had a at least one power outage per day in our room. In the last two days, the hotel owner became aware of our complaints and made an effort to make our remaining time more pleasant, which we genuinely appreciated. Overall, my feedback is that this hotel is missing care, passion, and attention to detail. It has great potential, but at the moment the focus seems to be more on hosting various parties on the premises rather than providing a high-quality guest experience.

E permitiram que fizemos um late checkout O facto de termos sido colocados numa sala fechada para o pequeno almoço, quando havia mesas fora com vista para rio. Além disso, só nos deram uma opção de pequeno almoço: o americano. Seria de esperar mais do pequeno almoço para um hotel de 5 estrelas.

La stanza grande, fornita di acqua, thé e caffè all’arrivo, oltre che di prodotti per il bagno. La location a noi è piaciuta molto, lontano dai resort snob. Il Wi-Fi non funzionava affatto e la colazione era approssimativa (sia di servizio che di cibo). La struttura avrebbe del gran potenziale se fosse tenuta un po’ meglio ma nel complesso abbiamo passato un bel soggiorno.

It was spacious and had all the amenities, such as a small fridge, water, tea, a kettle, and a working TV (you can watch Netflix or Amazon with your own account). The bathroom was good, with running hot water and everything you need. The curtains blocked the early sunshine well, and there was zero noise from the street. The staff were responsive—whenever we needed them, they came to help and were welcoming and friendly. For the price paid, there isn’t much to complain about. It’s not a beachfront 5-star resort, but it is certainly the closest you’ll find for the amount you’re paying. If you’re looking for a budget stay with comfort, this option may suit you well

• Kiruba (5/5): Not Worth the Price – Poor Room Allocation and Service - Pool Bathtub room The receptionist was given a fair service We reserved two rooms with bathtub facilities, but only one room was provided with this feature. The other was a basic room. Initially, the hotel tried to assign us two rooms without bathtubs, and it was only after my request that they allocated one room with a bathtub. We had booked the BB (Bed and Breakfast) package, but the hotel staff were unaware of what the guests had booked. When we went for breakfast, the buffet was already closed, and we were not informed in advance.However, they later arranged the breakfast separately for us. Additionally, room service was not prompt and lacked efficiency.

• Madeleine (8/5): Good stay for a good price - We liked to location and the size of the room (it was HUGE). We also had lunch there, which was really good We did not like the breakfast so much, you can only choose what kind of egg you want and they didn’t even offer us coffee or tea.

• Chaths (8/5): Good - Nice location and spacious room. Food was very good. Since the windows were facing the river, the room is very bright in the morning. The curtains are not thick enough to control sun light. No wifi access was given. No hair dryer in the room, but gave one when requested.

We used Dialog simcard to get some connectivity. There was a lot of construction in/on/near the hotel, therefore lot of noise in morning and evening.
• Jeroen (7/5): Gemiste kans met zulke mooie kamers. - Prachtige kamer met mooi uitzicht! Matras was goed en lekker in bad gelegen door voldoende warm water. Er waren allerlei soorten zeep. Netjes! Leuk om op het terras te zitten. De kamer had over de hele breedte glas en dat is echt erg mooi. Met een fijne bank met zicht over het water. De bootexcursie was top vanuit het hotel. De gids was erg aardig en we hadden veel lol. Complimenten voor hem! Heb veel dieren gezien. Dit maakte veel goed! Ik vroeg aan de balie aan de manager of ik een bootexcursie kon doen. Waarom was de vraag terug. (Vond ik al meteen een rare vraag) Ik heb uitgelegd wat ik wilde (dieren en de mangrove zien) En toen begon hij over watersport. Dat wilde ik niet en toen vroeg hij weer waarom niet en waarom ik niet van watersport hou. Weer mezelf moeten uitleggen. De manager zei dat ik dan naar centraal Sri Lanka moest gaan. Terwijl ik wist dat er veel bootexcursies zijn op bentota River (speciaal hiervoor gekomen) en dit ook gezegd. Meneer zou erop terug komen. Later loop ik door een grote trouwzaal naar achteren om te gaan zwemmen kom ik dezelfde meneer tegen. Ik vroeg om een handdoek voor bij het zwemmen. Vroeg meneer weer waarom? Omdat ik wilde zwemmen....heel erg vreemd om weer een gesprek te voeren over waarom ik iets wil. Wat echt een normale vraag van mij is bij een hotel met zwembad. Toch een handdoek gekregen. Er was geen matras op de ligstoelen want die zaten in de was.. Aan iemand anders over een bootexcursie gevraagd. Die legde uit dat het hotel zelf een boothuis met excursies heeft en kon ik meteen alles mee regelen. (Het boothuis zit op de hoek van de achtertuin) Bijzondere gang van zaken of niet? Het hotel heeft een feestzaal. Toen ik er even was werd er opeens erg luide live muziek buiten naast het zwembad (van 14 uur tot en met 19 uur ofzo) gespeeld in verband met een feestje. Dezelfde manager zei dat het tot 16 uur zou duren. Personeel was met het feestje bezig (stonden te kijken) en niet met mij. (Ik was er alleen). Het kostte erg veel moeite om aandacht te krijgen en uiteindelijk iets te mogen bestellen. Erna ging de service goed. Er was veel niet in het hotel qua voorgerechten en ook geen ervaring met cocktails maken. De bediening buiten en bij het ontbijt was verder erg aardig en behulpzaam. Dank je wel! De bestelde pizza lijkt van een fabriek te komen ipv vers.

Rooms were clean, big and spacious with all the necessary amenities. Room that we were staying in hada balcony facing the river, so the view was amazing. Breakfast and food is very delicious and at a very reasonable price. They have water sports and river safari options available just below the hotel, you can bargain and get a good discount as well.
