Guest Reviews
- Rita (8/5): True traditional Japanese house, just like what you see in anime! - The host is super lovely! I texted about some issues with the curtains in one of the divisions and she went over the very minute. She wasn't able to fix it then, but she returned the following day to do so. Very nice lady.
I loved the sleeping arrangements! Not everyone in my group was a fan of the futon and tatami vibes, but if that's not a problem for you, you will enjoy this.
If you are sensitive to smells, bear in mind the house smells like straw/something similar to that. I don't know if this is from the futons or the tatami floor. I liked it, but everyone else in my group disliked it.
Loved that the shower and toilet are not together, so a group can definitely use both at the same time. The toilet was in the tiniest division possible - taller people will likely not be able to close the door without hitting their knees. Personally it was not a problem, but I think this is useful info for other people.
The stairs are indeed very steep and tiny to get to the bedrooms upstairs - if you have bad knees I would advise against this property.
- Niniek (8/5): - The traditional look of the rooms, which gives you the feeling like living like a local. Everything was according as described. Nothing bad to say
- Mark (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Since it is a full house, you have plenty of space for each member of the group and you have all the amenities needed for your stay. It's just like in the photos.☺
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (8/5): Good stay - -cute tiny house
-good beds
-near of metro station (8mn walk)
-lot of bugs (important to note if you are scared)
-old bathroom
- Chai (7/5): Overall ok. 10’mins walk to Otsuka station (JY line) and 20 mins walk to Shin-Otsuka station (Metro) - Nothing specific but simple and practical The main door key unremovable from the PIN lockable box. Those who knows the PIN can open the lockable box to enter the house especially when no one inside the house.
The ELCB trips every night.
- Vicky (8/5): Very good - It was a traditional Japanese house with tatami, making it a great choice for those looking for something unique beyond typical hotels. The three-room house is situated in a quiet area near Otsuka Station, with plenty of small restaurants and shops nearby. We stayed in February, and the house was quite chilly in the mornings. However, the air conditioning helped keep the space warm.
- Adeline (8/5): Very good -
- Ethan (9/5): Nice small house in quite residential neighborhood - Great location about 10 or 15 minutes walk from a station on the yamanote line. We really liked the vibe of the neighborhood with delicious southeast asian restaurants. One stop away from Ikebukuro. The house itself was very cute, and I enjoyed sleeping on futon and tatami very much. The shower was a little old, but perfectly functional. The water drained very slowly in the shower. The stairs were quite steep. There was only one toilet so there were times where people had to wait.
- Hannis (9/5): Superb - the location is okay, not very far from the train. the house is clean, everything is provided.
- Eliza (6/5): Affordable stay near Otsuka Station - It was located near Otsuka Station and surrounded by a lot of shops and eateries. The house was located uphill so it can be challenging if you have a lot of luggage. We also kept our luggage downstairs as the stairs were small and steep.
- Alisée (10/5): Exceptional - Nice Japanese style house, 10 minutes away from a train station, in a quiet neighborhood
- Schoutenpeter (9/5): Neat tiny house near Otsuka Station - Authentic Japanese tiny house. Complete with tatami mats and sliding doors/windows with paper. Some minor things like no curtains in the upper left bedroom and a moldy shower curtain were promptly dealt with by the owner.
It's a bit hard to find when it's dark outside.
Head down the dead end street and past the last building on the right go into the tiny loop, it's on your right side.
- Bell (10/5): Experience at home in Japan - My group had 6 people. The first time we came to Japan, we met a very enthusiastic hostess. We just got the house, the landlady gave the group a small gift, we were very happy.
The house is new for rent, everything is new and clean. The refrigerator was purchased new, the tape inside has not yet been peeled off. Household appliances are very complete, there are also spare items in the cupboard. Very comfortable indoor slippers, available in massage type and regular type. The house is near 4-5 convenience stores, near the train station, walking to the train station takes about 7 minutes to 10 minutes. The house is in an alley so it is very quiet at night.
The hostess does not speak English but this does not affect communication, using the software is very convenient. We needed a lot of clothes hangers, so she bought them and brought them over 2 hours later. The next day, she also brought a clothes drying rack with a lot of clothes hangers.
We had a great trip. Thanks the hostess very much. Everything was great, I didn't find anything uncomfortable.
