Loved the gift shop. Staff was extremely friendly. It would have been nice to have a clean tent. It was covered in mold. Had dirt covering the pillows and outter bedding. Dirt covered the floors. The least they could have done was power washed everything at least weekly. You could tell it hadnt been cleaned in weeks if not a month. I had a few surprises from spiders in the bedding, but i got them all out before sleeping.
Bruno (2/5): Disappointed by the Lack of Maintenance and Cleanliness - I was really looking forward to staying at El Cosmico, drawn in by its unique aesthetic and the promise of a quirky, off-the-grid experience. However, the reality was far from the charming retreat I had envisioned. The accommodations felt neglected and run-down. It was evident that minimal effort had been put into maintaining the space, which dampened the overall experience. The shared amenities were particularly disappointing. The communal BBQ area and kitchen utensils were dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned in quite some time. It was unappetizing and made me hesitant to use any of the facilities. While the concept of El Cosmico is appealing, the execution leaves much to be desired. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements.

Renee (3/5): Pitch a tent and stay at a campground instead. - The idea or concept is different and that is why we chose it for our stay in Marfa. We were looking forward to the hippie vibe in 2025. It was close to the main areas of town. Oh, where to begin? First, you have to cart in your luggage which wouldn’t have been bad, except the carts were wobbly and not easy to navigate. The trailer needed some TLC.. It was run down with a tattered flag as a divider. Also, no hand soap, so had to trek to the front office to get some. Worst of all, we had an issue with the heating system after-hours. We hiked ourselves to the office to get the telephone # of the person on-call. Well, it went directly to voicemail, so we left a text message. No response. I figured that for $270.00 per night, someone could have called us back or checked to make sure the trailer hadn’t burned down. Consequently, at 3:00 a.m. we were still trying to get the place warm. Finally, cranked it to 80 and it turned on. Very little sleep that night. Reported it to the front office upon check-out. Never received a call from a manager apologizing for such a horrible stay.

Loved the vibe, didn't mind the shared shower and bathroom facilities (clean and close) . And , of course, pet-friendly I think it is a little pricey for what you get, but , then again, that is true of Marfa

The community kitchen could have had community cutlery and dishes. A space heater for colder nights in the tents would be wonderful.

And no washcloth or hand towel (only bath towel). I asked front desk about this and they said it was "glamping". I notified them that there was nothing "glam"orous about not providing these essentials.
Saptarshi (9/5): Super clean place - I had a great stay at Post Time Inn! The cleanliness of the property was truly impressive — everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, providing plenty of room to relax and unwind. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to ensure a pleasant experience. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the breakfast. While it was appreciated, there’s definitely room to enhance the variety and overall quality.
Chas (8/5): - It is close to the highway so you can definitely hear highway noise (though it is Marfa and not Houston) and there is also a railroad not too far away so a train came through 6am. It IS camping and there were dogs around that were barking so you could hear them. The facilities were great though! We stayed in teepees that were awesome!

Ioram (8/5): - Marfa en si es un lugar extraño y que mejor en pernoctar en un lugar extraño. Hay varias clases de habitaciones que uno puede reservar y tuvimos un tema que al llegar nos “tocó” las tiendas de campaña tipo safari y el baño era público y no está ni bien y tampoco limpios, por lo que se tuvo que cambiar de opción. Solicitamos cambios de habitación y no fue posible. En la noche llovió y entró agua en estos lugares lo cual tampoco es nada cómodo ya que la tierra y el agua se convierte en lodo. Volvería, pero definitivamente no a esta clase de habitaciones. Existe un horario de atención de 7:30 a 22 horas, después no hay nadie quien te pueda atender. Les reitero, como “aventura” está bien ya que no hay nada parecido que haya visitado antes.
Shelly (8/5): - We had never heard of Marfa, TX but my son encouraged us to visit as we were passing through west Texas. It was a little out of our way but we are so glad we did. Our stay at El Cosmico was the icing on the cake. We stayed in a yurt for the first time which was awesome but the entire property is just so fun. We had read about glamping but never experienced it. I highly recommend visiting both Marfa and El Cosmico.
Hmhtx (9/5): For a uniquely eclectic experience in Marfa - More traditional accommodation options are available in downtown Marfa. Pick El Cosmico for a uniquely eclectic experience. We stayed at a teepee and a safari tent years ago; this time, stayed at a medium trailer with more amenities including mini fridge, stovetop, private toilet and outdoor shower. Marfa is a small town, all the restaurants like Cochineal and sights like The Chinati Foundation are 5-10min drive away. IMHO, best place to stay in this quirky little gem of a town. Nothing.
Jo (4/5): Winter back to this location. An adventure we have put behind us! - Coffee was good in the AM. Staff was friendly! #21 was the caravans we stayed in. We paid for a bathroom- shower was outside - cute, but we didn’t use it. The potty room stunk so bad we couldn’t use without feeling like vomiting. Keeping the door closed was an absolute must!! At 3am we peed outside instead of making trek to communal bathroom, not kosher I know! The cleaning products were a bit over powering. I’m sure the issue the potty was it just isn’t vented properly. So El C. Is off my list for places to stay in Marfa!

Senem (1/5): Bad - We only have to talk to the people working in the lobby and the women working here are incredibly sullen and tense. I had the same problem in our last two stays. I don't know if I want to see this after a 6-hour journey. They try to be cool and enter a different mode. I saw the same thing with different people while checking in/out. It has become a very neglected place, there is nothing that would make me choose to stay there again. Bohemianism is not neglect, I think it's time for them to make that distinction.

Amy (3/5): Dirty, cold, and uncomfortable. - I liked the location. The place is incredibly run down. We stayed in a safari cabin with a nice bed but the floors were filthy with dirt and pebbles. The shared bathrooms are glorified outhouses with plumbing with hardly any privacy due to it being made with boards of wood with cracks between them. The faucets were leaking, one at full blast because the handle broke off (and they are in the desert). One shower has a lamp plugged in underneath the shower head -- I hope they don't electrocute someone. They had dirty dishes in the sink of the shared kitchen (it looked like they had been there for days).

It was a little cold during our stay, but that’s my nature for you. Thankfully, the bed had a heating blanket in it, which made it very comfortable, regardless even cozy.

Verified traveler (6/5): Good, but not great, Bushtec tent experience - This is a fun and pretty comfortable outdoorsy place to stay. However, we were there in Feb. The heater and hot water heater inside made the tent perfectly comfortable, but we could never get hot water in the tent's outdoor shower. Since the indoor tub was old and dirty, didn't want to use that. We tried the 'community' outdoor showers but couldn't get hot water there either. All else was great, albeit not as great as it would be in spring/summer/fall, when more people are there. Lots of space, a very cool vibe.
Larry (3/5): Poor - Like many things in Marfa, this glamping experience was aggressively, stupidly overpriced.
Hannah (6/5): - We stayed in one of the Bushtech tents for just one night after spending two nights camping and hiking in Big Bend National Park. The Bushtec tents have both an outdoor shower and indoor tub, but when we arrived in Bushtec tent#2 and tried to take a shower, there was a pipe that had burst next to the shower head so water was shooting all over the place (up into the air and unto the tent itself) and there was really low water pressure coming out of the actual showerhead. In addition, the water coming out of the showerhead was completely cold so we weren't able to take a (much needed) shower. When we told the front-desk manager the next morning, she just said she'd report it to the maintence manager. El Cosmico, please be sure all of the facilities/features in your lodging are up-to-standard and actually provide all of the amenities that your guests are paying for. Thank you!

Robert (4/5): - This review will sound unfair, because I booked late and didn’t account for the weather. My girlfriend and I arrived near sunset, and booked the tent accommodation on the website about an hour before we arrived. It looked great on Expedia, and the outdoor shower and bathroom sounded fun. But after I checked in I saw the tent was dirty, the outdoor bathroom looked unkempt, and the hottubs were booked up (people book the tubs for 7-11pm… why? So many other people could enjoy them in that time). Also, when I checked in, they couldn’t find my reservation. They said Expedia hadn’t synced up with them. After a long delay and a couple phone calls, the front desk finally ok’ed the reservation. We looked at the tent, bathrooms and shower, and my girlfriend looked very unhappy. I also looked at the weather report and realized it was going to be 34°F The front desk offered additional blankets, and reassured us the electric blankets were good, but somehow it looked like camping at a national park for five times the cost. I asked to cancel, but they wouldn’t refund us the money. I sent a sweet email and asked for a refund, but didn’t get a response. So… I sucked up the cost as a bad decision to come here. Sorry folks, I was looking forward to this visit, but my experience was bad

Tsur (4/5): Disappointing - The shower was very good The receptionist told me that I reserved a tent without a bathroom, which wasn't true. We reserve a superior room with bathroom. Then she "upgraded " us to a caravan with bathroom ... thank you very much. Furthermore, we had to carry our luggage on wagons in the dark a iong way to the caravan. There was no shades on the windows (even in the shower) ... and the list is long.
Ivvet (4/5): Overpriced and not ideal for a solo or couple stay - It was a beautiful historic building in the center of Marfa The check-in instructions were unclear and we didn’t realise it was the whole building. A beautiful space by way too big for 2 people. Would be amazing for a large group or a party.
Michael (9/5): Unexpected pleasure in a cool, clean, funky, pet-friendly place. - we had booked a teepee, and loved the look of it when we checked in. Unfortunately, the closure was broken, so wee had to be changed - but no complaints! We were upgraded to a trailer , and it was great!. The only issue was , the weather being g so cold, the outdoor attached shower was frozen. Super comfy, clean, and very efficient design. The staff at check-in /out and the main common are were really nice. Staff is friendly and super helpful nothing to really say here

Verified traveler (10/5): - I love El Cosmico and Marfa. They have a vision few others have and it’s wonderful. It’s important El Cosmico focuses on deferred maintenance. Loose faucet handles, toilet handles, insulating pipes, etc.. Part of the charm is the cool design with a dash of grit, but it anll should function well. Overall, definitely make the pilgrimage.

Diane (10/5): Super Funky - Very Cool - Love It! - We loved this place! I originally reserved a Sioux Tepee with a firepit inside for heat. The manager decided that was too cold and moved us into a Yurt which had electricity and a heater, plus plenty of blankets. I was beautiful inside and the door into each of the three was painted a different color and design. Other housing options there included vintage trailers, some with amazing designs painted on them. There were also tents, fancy tents and even fancier tents! Parking is in a lot next to the registration desk and gift shop. You load your luggage et al. into a wheeled cart to take to your place. This kept the place really quite with no cars driving by our Yurt. The restrooms and showers are nearby but we didn't use them. We did utilize the restroom inside the registration building to brush our teeth and got a cup of coffee. Was a bit disappointed when we went back to check out and get another cup of coffee for the road but was told that they were out of coffee; guess they only make one pot. We definitely would return here. So unique and fun.

Kirby (10/5): An incredible cosmic experience in the middle of a major winter freeze! - What an absolute gem of a place. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely accommodating. My sister and I stayed in a safari tent during a major winter freeze. We were prepared for the worst but our tent bed was very comfortable and had a heated mattress pad that worked amazingly. The outdoor bathroom facilities are probably great in warmer weather but not in 13 degrees. Front desk left their bathroom and shower open all night for us to use, it was such a benefit and very clean. The complimentary coffee each morning was delicious, our entire experience was really wonderful. I can’t wait to go back and especially when it’s warmer. Thank you to Mimi and Pinky especially! The campsite does not allow cars so you have to park and cart your belongings in wagons. Fine by us but a heads up about that might be helpful for others.

Zeylord (10/5): Nice place to stay in Marfa for the outdoors glamping vacation - Enclosed area with a lot of different kinds of glamping accommodations for individuals and families. Area is very clean and easy access to the center of Marfa. Carts are available in the parking lot to haul your stuff into your tent.

Faith (10/5): Warm cozy beds, wild pigs! - The bed in the safari tent is sooo comfortable and the bed warmer was perfect to keep us comfortable and cozy thru the night. The only downside was that a wild pig dumped over the trash near the office and parking lot. I picked up the one near the office, but the parking lot trash remained scattered until we checked out late that morning.

Daniel (8/5): Cool "Vibe" but it is going to cost you! - Eclectic vibe and unique experience. Electric heated bed saved the stay. More "rustic" than I was expecting and the latrine didn't have any hot (or even warm) water. I understand this is targeted to "hipsters" that often have more cash in their trust fund than common sense. everything was up-charged and an "al la cart" expense. Breakfast never showed so I canceled it at the office but I was invoiced anyway.

John (8/5): A good way to experience Marfa! The trailers are much better than camping, but not "Glamping"! - We stayed in "Princess". The lay-out of the whole camp adds to the experience. Although we were surprised at the distance we had to go from the car, the carriers made the "move" easier. The coffee in the office was good in the morning - the raw sugar makes it! The portable heater did a good job & was nice & quiet. It was the 1st time to use an induction stove & it worked well to heat water for the coffee. The roof-top A/C was very loud when it cycles on. I'm sure the other type of ductless systems are quieter. Since we typically have left-overs when we eat out, a microwave to reheat them would be a good addition. The luggage carts are really noisy! You might try spraying the underside of bottom with "spray-on" bed liner to quiet the "drum effect". Don't know if some kind of lube would quiet the wheels, but maybe garage door lube would help. We stayed in "Princess" & all the curtains had large gaps due to the curved walls. If you put a spacer behind the lower rod, it would allow the curtains to have better coverage. Also make the curtains "fuller" to fold in the sides would help. Pretty minor issues over-all.

Rose (7/5): Great stay - A bit of Fancy camping - Location was fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. The tent is very spacious. Although we got bad weather which damped our experience, I still recommend it for one night. I'd still stay there again when I'm back in Marfa. There was a bit of a market happening when we were there which was nice. The fire pit A bit of Fancy camping The shower area, looked unkept and people can see through. Unfortunately we got really bad weather, it was pouring the whole night and there was water drops around the tent but not directly on us so it wasn’t too bad. Wish it was more waterproof, it would have been so amazing sleeping and hearing the rain so close but the the water drops were a bit unsettling oh it's also very noisy, you can hear the train all night long but I am a New Yorker & I love trains, so the noise was welcomed. I loved it, but I can see how others can find it a nuisance.
