Guest Reviews
- Nuno (4/5): An abandoned place- really disappointing - The view and the location are outstanding! Its not an hotel anymore, at this time is an abandoned place. Restaurant closed, only one employee cleaning the garden, no reception or any support area or staff.
Looks like is was ( pre covid) an outstanding hotel but is not anymore, now is an abandoned place, with everything damaged and old ( very old) and is becoming even safety questionable ( stairs are the corresponding protection is broken) some cables visible and damaged and the small houses roof is damaged in several places.
- Philip (8/5): I would not hesitate to return for another stay at this very affordably priced accommodation. - Elevated sweeping views from balcony. Very private. No insect problems. Close to Warung with nice food and very helpful staff. Lovely cool location with pleasant breezes. Located next to path along flowing steam near numerous waterfalls. Very affordable and excellent value! There is nothing not to like about the property for this most affordable price.
- Stefanie (7/5): Good - Great sunset view from the cottagesand wonderful location to hike from. Cottages clean and decent but not luxury. Good breakfast at Adila Homestay/restaurant just next door and many lunch/dinner possibilities nearby.
Nice and helpful staff.
- Thea (5/5): Quiet retreat - Quiet. Breathtaking surroundings. Beautiful room. Very damp bed. I know this happens in the jungle but the room needs more airing in future. I had to sleep on the top sheets.
- Sean (10/5): Definitely coming back - Beautiful beautiful view & sights & sounds & lush greenery everywhere,, just perfect.. I wish we'd stayed longer
- Sean (9/5): Loved it & will happily go back. Munduk is a magic area & not overrun with obnoxious tourists yet. - The location in Munduk is just exceptional, up & far away from the hustle & bustle of what most people equate with Bali. The property is natural & beautiful, a walk trail that leads to the 3 best waterfalls in Munduk is on the property & they are breathtaking, there are some renovations in progress to create & replace new residences but the property is so big we never were disturbed by it. Staff were helpful & also considerate of your privacy, if you're coming this far from the crowds, you want to be left in peace, & we were. Will certainly go back the new accomodation looks like it will be very plush & comfortable. We loved it here. not anything to dislike. Showers could have had more pressure but it wasn't really a problem. The idea of loose river stones in the shower floor is charming, but obviously difficult to keep clean, if you look closely, there's always the odd trace of leftover hair, skin or toenails from a previous tenant that is a bit off putting. Happily the stones aren't in all the showers, our son's bathroom didn't have them.
- Sharifah (10/5): Beautiful place and pleasant staff and will return - Room and view There is no shampoo and shower gel
- Shahenaz (6/5): Pleasant - Fantastic views from the villa.
Restaurant served lovely food. The villa we were given was down plenty of stairs which was difficult for me to go up and down.
The restaurant was also at the top of loads of stairs.
- Robert (10/5): Great value for your money! - The view and the close by waterfalls Bathroom was a little bit disappointing. Hot water was not trustworthy I think the bathtub in there in not necessary you can’t use it
- Alana (10/5): Natural Panoramic Paradise, right on Waterfall Trail - Melanting Cottages is a hidden gem located right in paradise. The tropical gardens, the spacious, private bungalows with endless vistas of green from the balcony, right on the waterfall trail for a day of exploring.. a secluded sanctuary, perfect for nature lovers. We were blessed with a Tokay gecko who resides above the balcony door (a note for light sleepers, the Tokay gecko's mating sounds *will* interrupt your dreams, better to try & swap rooms if you hear him at your door) & plantain squirrels who play on the banana trees below the balcony. The room is simple, ornate in traditional Balinese styled wood & the panoramic views are priceless. The restaurant staff are lovely & of course you are greeted by more views, birdsong & the sound of the nearby waterfalls to accompany your meal. Stepping straight onto the three-waterfall trekking loop right from the homestay was an incredible bonus and you can arrange a massage to come to your bedroom upon your return. Melanting Cottages are insane value for money and absolutely worth checking out! The view & location alone are worth it.
- Carol (9/5): I love staying at Melanting and will always come back to this beautiful place. - The location is amazing and the mountain views are exceptional.ILovely gardens.I love the traditional wooden cottage with beautiful balinese carved doors and windows. This is why I have stayed here since 2010.Putu the manager is so welcoming and helps me so much.He booked a maasage for me and gave me a ride there. The warung not open yet because Melanting has open for a few months. But they organised a fantastic breakfast included in my stay at Adila homestay and I had dinners there too.The food was fantastic and Adila and Putu were so friendly and welcoming. I was not welcomed by staff at reception area and the building is empty and rundown.I think they need to improve place so the place looks inviting for guests when they arrive at Melanting. It is so lovely inside but needs to have good front area.
- Tija (8/5): Very good -
- Lorraine (8/5): It was a great place and value for money - Brilliant location Shame that have suffered so badly because of Covid wish them well in restarting their full business
- Isabel (7/5): Good - Great location (particularly for the Munduk waterfall trek), with an astonishing view and a very nice garden. Very peaceful.
Characteristic balinese furniture in the room. Both the room and bathroom need renovations.
The lack of hot water in the shower was definitely a minus.
- Valentin (9/5): Superb - What a view Difficult to find
- Gregory (9/5): Will recommend it to others because it’s comfortable to stay and at the start of the waterfall trail. - Good location.
Very helpful staff.
Beautiful gardens.
Good food at Adiles warung. Maybe some more water in the rooms could have been helpful.
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zsam (7/5): Great stay in nature with stunning view - Great location, with walkable paths to go the several close waterfalls that are beautiful, and a few restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The bed was confortable, the view from the balcony was great and we loved relaxing on the balcony in the evening. Hot water was good and sufficient for 2 persons. We also had a kettle, coffee and sugar, and the mini fridge was very useful. We enjoyed our stay. The owner provides great service and we could join him with Whatsapp when needed. Compared to the photos there was some change in the room to know about : no suspended couch on the terrasse, no TV in the room or toiletries in the bathroom. The pool was not usable when we came, and the restaurant is under maintenance at the moment (another restaurant just above is available for breakfast and also for meals).
- Ject9a (9/5): A great spot for walks in and around Munduk - + the VIEW
+ perfect location, right on the beautiful trail leading to the three waterfalls. You can do a nice roundtrip, getting back through the village.
+ rice fields are a little bit further, but still easily reachable on a scooter
+ comfortable parking (we had a rental car)
+ cleaning every day
+ free water
+ yummy breakfast with a view at the neighbouring Adila Homestay
+ friendly owner Putu and his staff - various insects in the bathroom, but it is expected when you are accomodated in the jungle and the bathroom has breeze blocks in the walls
- Natalia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was lovely, a hidden gem! the only downside is the water heater is not strong enough to fill the bathtub which is a shame! otherwise everything else is beautiful ans the manager of the property is really kind and sweet
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Zsuzsanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolin (10/5): Cosy Bungalows with a great view - We had a really wonderful time here! The view from the suite was incredible and the room spacious and cosy. The scenery is great and the location of the cottages very close to the waterfalls is so convenient for hikes. The manager is the nicest person, so thoughtful, generous and taking care of everything. He even took us to an ATM in the next village. Their restaurant is not open yet, but we got breakfast at Adila Homestay next to the cottages, which was also managed by really caring and nice people. Would also recommend the dinner there. All in all I hope we can return one day. The paths to the bungalows are a bit slippery when wet, so be aware. And the hot water was sometimes not enough for 3 people, but after a long hike that is not a problem.
- Andras (10/5): great welcome, we were upgraded for the best room as the suite was empty and we were the only guests. Putu, our host was - it was spacious and comfortable. overall great design. the terrace and the view is spectacular
