Guest Reviews
- frank osagie (10/5): - Good
- Justin (2/5): - The property doesn't function as a typical Hotel, several rooms are being occupied by long-term tenants (12 month Contracts). The property manager allowed those long-term tenants to smoke cigarette and marijuana in the rooms.
- Justin (10/5): - What I like about the property the most is it's historical character and charm. The property owners paid very close attention to detail when designing the interior of the mansion.
Excellent service and cleanliness, and very economic too!
- Dulce (10/5): - Really kind staff and close to many places in the city! Super beautiful place, will definitely stay here again :)
- Agnes (10/5): Casa Chopo heritage - It was a beautiful place, a tad noisy on the ground floor, but we loved the location. Staff was very accomodating, would do it again.
- Chao (10/5): - This is a very good place to live some days.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Noisiest place I've ever stayed - The property and the room itself were very beautiful but it was the noisiest place I've ever stayed in my life. The room
we stayed in is located quite awkwardly between the 'reception' area (literally connected to the reception room) and the sidewalk outside. We might as well have been camping on the street for how noisy it was. There was absolutely ZERO sound insulation. As a result, my husband and I got no sleep at all and left exhausted. It's a shame, as with a bit of sound-proofing it could be a lovely place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall Good - In truth, the property is lovely. However, it seems they have regular issues with scheduling. If you are not booking a while in advance, I would say do not book this property. They worked with me, which I am very thankful for, but be mindful of timing when booking or you might have to find alternative accomodations.
- Mary Ann (10/5): - This was a beautifully maintained property with lovely employees who were very helpful. I loved the outdoor area to have my coffee and the ability to use the kitchen to cook meals. While my room was small I really only ever used it to sleep as México city had so much to see! The shower remained hot which was a real plus. The area was great as it was far enough away from the 24 hour noise of this huge bustling city. II will return!
- Patrick (10/5): - I loved Casa Chopo and will be returning in September . The area is a real CDMX barrio, walkable with plenty of dining options and close to public transportation . I had an amazing experience . Thank you Adolfo .
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff was very very kind and helpful.
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff was very kind and helpful!
- constantine (8/5): - Beautiful architectural historical building with French provincial furniture and decor throughout.
Clean room with amenities provided.
English speaking staff was an issue and is an issue throughout Mexico.
Wifi is “ok” but needs major improvements especially in the rooms.
- Vivian (10/5): - I arrived at 3AM and had a smooth check-in. Lovely and kind facilities staff, beautiful and clean accommodations. The hot water wasn't quite working in my suite but wasn't a major issue.
- Sergio (8/5): - Very nice property and service I only needed another blanket, this time is a neat chilly in CDMX
- Ingrid (10/5): Unique hotel for lovers of antique furnishings! - The front desk attendant Miguel is one of the nicest people we've met in the city. He offers many helpful transportation tips for those who are visiting, and his guided tour of the Casa Chopo property was great. The building has such a rich history and the furnishings are absolutely beautifully maintained from the olden 1860s to early 1900s era, when the streets in this neighborhood were cobble stone streets, before railroad cars were the big new thing! I was amazed the unique beauty of this home. It was also really nice to know you can come and go as you please, and check in at any hour. We were worried there would be nobody available to help us check in because our flight arrived after 9:30pm, but we were pleasantly surprised to have such nice service in person at a late hour. It is a quaint bed, so keep in mind there won't be a king size mattress, but for the affordable price it felt like a luxury to be staying in a well-maintained home from this era, including a kitchen open for guest use, beautiful sitting room, sunny rooftop, garden, gorgeous dining room, and laundry room. Small tip for those who stay during mosquito season, keep the fan on inside your room and point it toward you if you want to avoid getting bites. Mosquitos can't fly in the path of a windy draft. The neighborhood is also full of neat surprises -- a handful of bars & restaurants where locals hang out, a geology museum practically on the same block, and Plaza Buenavista mall & train station.
No tienen estacionamiento.
- Luz María (10/5): - Quiet and really clean
- Aza (10/5): - Needed an inexpensive option in the CDMX for a week and this was a great choice! Immaculate. Charming. Safe. Tiny little room, almost monastic, but with lovely details like a big shuttered window, crown molding and a Tiffany-style bedside lamp. The common areas include a nice rooftop and a small fountain terrace below, great kitchen, big laundry room. The staff are super kind and helpful, and the Buenavista district, though not quite in the heart of things, is a safe and charming local neighborhood with the metro just 2 blocks away which swiftly takes you anywhere you need to go. I loved it here, and still managed all the Mexico City bells and whistles with ease.
- Michael (6/5): - Pros: The property itself is really nice, and the staff are very friendly, but not as helpful as we feel they could have been.
Cons: Rooms 1 & 2 are actually part of, and attached to the reception area, which is “open” 24 hours. There is no insulation in the paper thin walls, so if you are in rooms 1 & 2, you hear every front door bell, phone call, conversation, computer ding, cellphone notification, all day and all night long.
We were there 4 nights and didn’t manage a good nights sleep once, and were unfortunately happy to leave just so we could get some good rest elsewhere.
We did express our discomfort after the first night there, but were told there was nothing they could do and they could not reimburse us for the prepaid remaining 3 days so we could move on. So, if you are at all a light sleeper, we would strongly recommend you request NOT rooms 1 or 2 during the booking process.
Rooms are not cleaned and beds are not made up at all during your stay.
Very little hot water available for showers, it takes a long time to reach the room and then only lasts a minute or so.
Overall, a nice property with some pluses, but way too many minuses for us to want to return, or recommend it to anyone else.
- TETSURO (10/5): - It was a wonderful hotel. It was safe and comfortable. The hotel staff were all very kind.
Gracias
- Steven (10/5): - Excellent value. The place is tidy and charming, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
- Barbara T (10/5): - Hermoso lugar.
