• Josh (10/5): Such a special treat! - this is a really special glamping accommodation in the middle of nowhere- sitting in the wood fired hot tub nestled into the forest, watching the moon over the hills and listening to the frogs, ducks and monkeys making noises in the river was just incredible. super comfy room. great braaii, plenty of space for a family of 4. The room has a ceiling fan and a hot shower and it was just so awesome to stay there- will have to come back next time we are in the area. My only complaint was in communications- it would have been good to know how late someone would be available to check us in, and that the hot tub was wood fired not electric and that we should have stopped at a store on the way to lay in provisions as the room does not come with things like salt and pepper or what have you. Also it seemed a little annoying that they charge an extra $30 for the hot tub but then don't tell you it's wood fired and don't provide wood- you have to buy the wood. None of this ruined the wonderful experience, just would have been good to know ahead of time. also- just a word of advise: either charge more for the hot tub and include the wood, or eat the cost but don't charge both for the tub and for the wood. it looks bad. Lastly- as we were leaving we saw a family of ostriches and some springbok just hanging out- we would have loved to know more about the farm and what animals they have to learn more about them. It may be that all of these complaints would have been obvious to a local, but for an american these were all surprises!

• Leigh (10/5): Fantastic Fleckvieh - What a wonderful find. Such a beautiful stay. Peaceful, quiet, and superb views. The beds were super comfy and had the best sleep with a fantastic view to wake up to. The cottage offered all the facilities we needed and more.

• Razaz (1/5): Probaby one step up from camping in a tent - The lake view is beautiful. I did not like anything else about the property, the service or the owner. Let me start by saying we have stayed at guest farms before. Never have we been in a place that had no soap in the toilet, no tea/coffee, no electricity (and yes, I am aware of load shedding and all places that charge this much have a generator!). We contacted the property before arrival, so they could have mentioned they had no electricity, and we could have left. They only said they don't have a working card machine, so bring cash or pay via some link. We arrived in the evening, around 8:30pm, to no electricity. I called the owner, who told us that it would arrive at 10:30pm. I enquire about the cottage, she tells me this is not my original booking, but it's too difficult to drive to that one in the dark. She then proceeded to say she just bought this place from someone else, and asked me why we booked for 1 day, that they don't normally get guests like us, it's a "weak booking", people like to come spend a weekend or a week away by the lake. Then my line disconnects - out of minutes - and she does not bother to call me back or leave any messages. We decided to go shower and change, no soap in the bathroom. The cottage is freezing, there is a little heater which we take to the bedroom, thankfully there were two of us, but if we needed to use the other bedroom, i don't know how they would survive the cold. The electricity eventually comes on, the beds are hard and uncomfortable, and the cottage is dirty, dusty and full of bugs. I don't know how visible the photos are, but dust generally isn't as visible on the phone as the naked eye. If it were the summer and you turned on the fan, you would have an asthma attack. Cobwebs are hanging from every corner. I do understand this is a farm, but this place has not been cleaned in months, minimum. In the morning, we ask the staff for the owner, and they say she is available. However, when they call her, she says she is "away and won't be back for 1.5hr".

• Tobz (8/5): The farm is breath taking and as a family we enjoyed our stay - We were well recieved. Amazing atmosphere and environment, beautiful veiws. Your 2 lovely friendly dogs and its always lovely were one visit a place and a language doesn't became a berrier. To be fair to the owners of the farm, this is not something they can do anything about but the insects at night are an irritation i guess thats part of nature. I've scored the cleanliness of on the bases of one need to remember that this is a farm and its more in the wild.

• Jeniffer (7/5): Great location but reception be improved - The location along the dam is beautiful, the braai facilities are excellent and the tent's interior is beautifully designed. It's a perfect spot for a peaceful escape. There is not often anyone at reception and the greeting was not particularly warm or helpful. No one accompanied us to our room or explained how anything worked. This is very much self-catering - no wood, soap, tea/coffee etc is provided. There is nothing wrong with this but should perhaps be emphasized more. The hot tub needs a good clean.
• Anel (9/5): Loved our stay! - Comfortable bed and soft quality linen. Beautiful surroundings. We truly loved our stay and will be back again. Neighbors were quite loud and noisy until late at night but that is not the hosts fault. Would be nice to have some camping chairs on the stoepie 😉
