- Annabelle (9/5): - Décoration magnifique qui nous transporte dans un autre univers. La chambre est spacieuse et fonctionnelle. Le personnel est d'une gentillesse incroyable et toujours au petits soins pour nous. Les repas sont copieux et préparés avec amour!

- Myrthe (8/5): - De gastheer kwam ons met paraplu’s uit de taxi helpen toen het met bakken uit de hemel kwam bij aankomst. Ook was het erg fijn om een take-away ontbijt mee te krijgen. We hadden deze accommodatie geboekt zodat we dicht bij het treinstation van Ambewela zouden zijn voor de trein naar Ella. Met 10 min in de tuk tuk ben je er. Ideaal De kamer is redelijk gedateerd maar voor 1 nachtje is het prima

- Aleksandra (7/5): - Good location if you are planning a trip to the Horton Plains. Very friendly and welcoming staff, great breakfast. Great hot shower. Interesting interior with so many African masks. It was the most expensive accommodation in Sri Lanka during our trip but we got a bit disappointed with a few things. The room was not as clean as I would like it to be. The double bed is creaky with pillows and blanket that are stained at places and should be replaced. There is a glass window above the door and it is never completely dark in the room.

De eigenaar is super aardig en bereidde 's ochtends vroeg een ontbijt om mee te nemen naar het natuurgebied. Hij verbouwt ook zijn eigen groenten, was leuk om daar meer over te horen. Het decor van Shadow Mask heeft veel Afrikaanse invloeden, wat een unieke sfeer gaf. Zorg ervoor dat je al gepind hebt voordat je hier aankomt omdat je in dit dorp niet kunt pinnen en je hier alleen cash kunt betalen. :)

The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful, they prepared breakfast for take away, since we had to leave early, and organized a Tuktuk to the hortons plains national park for us. I can recommend to stay there!

- Lara (7/5): Unique experience - We liked the African style! It was very unique and cozy. The owners were very friendly and the Bungalow is close to the Horton Plains! It was a little cold (but it’s also off season), and it was leaking through the ceiling.

- Stefanie (9/5): Superb - The Shadow Mask Bungalow is a very unique place. It's decorated with wonderful art, mostly mask from Africa. Our room was huge and comfortable. We booked a tour to the Horton Plain and everything was super well organized. The driver was a very nice guy. He picked us up early in the morning. We had a super tasty dinner, got early morning Coffee and they made us a breakfast package. We felt super welcome, thanks to the nice stuff! Pattipolla is perfect if you plan to go to Horton Plain, the accomodation is located very close to the train station.

Guesthouse was also accommodating to our last minute changes. Room gets cold at night, but heaters are available for rent.
- Amanda (10/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful, quiet place to stay with huge rooms and attentive staff. Their food was excellent but we could also walk into town for food there. The owner arranged for a tuktuk to pick us up from Horton Plains after Stage 10 of the Pekoe Trail, making transportation much easier since there’s no signal at the park. He also helped me recover a lost hiking pole from a train station which was a life saver! Highly recommend!

Take away dinner was arranged for us plus transfer up to Horten plains to rejoin the trail early morning with packed breakfast. Thank you for this. Place has no soul or vibe, must have been amazing and interesting at some point, but all a bit sad now.

I really like it and worth to take lots of photos. It’s really relaxed to enjoy delicious meals over there. The house seems surrounded by flower garden. We all like that very much. - Ming (8/5): Very good - It was located at a peaceful town and near Horton Plains National Park, only takes ~30 min to reach. This was a good choice if you would go to Horton next day. The table game is interesting. The owner is very nice. Soundproof is not well.
