Guest Reviews
- Graham (9/5): Comfortable and homely - The suite was so homely and clean
Aircon was most welcome!
Water was lovely and hot! I didn't dislike anything, however a minor drip on the shower meant that the macerator randomly worked during the night
Also with my builders hat on the basin supplies were wrong way round which could catch someone out, it did me!!
Suggest the bath walls are fully tiled as in time water will damage the painted walls

- Aaron (7/5): - Philip was friendly and accommodating It wasn't i didn't like anything however im 6' 4" so a little tall for the unit itself albeit charming
- Kayleigh (9/5): -
- Grant (7/5): Phil, the host was very hospitable and I appreciated cozy quarters to get a good nights rest. - It was just what I needed for a good night sleep. The bed was comfortable the sheets were clean and the place overall was nice and tidy. It was a little short for my height. It could’ve done with more headroom, well suited for a shorter person.
- julie (9/5): - It was private, it had everything I needed. I used the log burner which was lovely. It's not for tall people I'm 5'9" and was glad I wasn't any taller. The bed was ok but could be made more comfortable easily with a topper and better pillows.
- Brian (10/5): - It was exactly what I wanted Nothing
- David (7/5): - The host took us in last minute and was great went right out his way Not I didn't like just didn't sleep great as not my own bed
- Ebenezer (10/5): Wonderful - The property looked very clean and nice None

- Chris (10/5): Perfect privacy and peace and quiet. - A perfect venue for my work during the week and Phil was very helpful throughout the process.
- Darren (8/5): - Quiet location The bathroom light seems to have developed a mind of its own
- Charles (10/5): -
- Reg (9/5): Perfect Stay - Everything Only booked for 1 night should of booked longer
- Matt (1/5): Disappointing and not worth the money - The owner seemed friendly The room smelt damp and wasn’t clean. The bedding smelt damp even though the owner said it had come out of the dryer. This was bedding that had been left out for a prolonged period of time.
- Darren (8/5): Basically fine -
- Charlotte (8/5): great host, great budget stay -

- Ramachandran (1/5): - The owner was cooperative. The room was clean.
Hot water always good We found out very difficult to enter into the room since we where asked yo enter from the backside where none of the Uber goes inside.Just imagine how can a foreigner after a hard day walk without a single light.
Comparing other good hotels this us highly priced .
So I did not stay there for three days .My wife did not stay for a single day in the room
Very very bad experience

- Pradip (8/5): A pleaseant stay at West Lodge - I had a great stay at West Lodge. It was great to have your own space, unlike staying at a chain hotel with people that are noisy. The facilities were nice. A microwave, kettle, tea & coffee. Plates, cutlery mugs and beer/wine glasses. The bed was comfy. Plenty of electrical outlets and an outside area which would be pleaseant in warmer weather. There's a wood burning stove, although I didn't use it, I imagine it would be a nice warm environment. The Ac is great a keeps the room warm. The bath is spacious and a nice touch is, there are shower, bath gels and soaps as well as face hand & bath towels. All in all, I will stay there again as there are amenities close by and have are plenty of delivery options. It's, not a question of what I didn't like. More of a few things to be aware of. Access is via a service road which is uneven to walk on in the dark, so if you have any mobility issues, please let the very nice operator know. He has a lot of local knowledge and is extremely helpful. Secondly, if you are taller than 5'9 - 177cm, be aware of walking into the top of the door frame, it was prabably just me being clumsy, but it's a low ceiling for the entrance and bath area. And lastly, be aware of the small ledge from the bathroom to the living area.
Again, I would and will stay there again. Enjoy.
- Darlington (8/5): Was good - Private Couldn’t find the entrance at first but the owner was helpful
- Sean (8/5): -
- Andy (10/5): - Phil was very accommodating and friendly
- Rich (2/5): Sadly, not a pleasant experience. - Towels
Size Dirty.
Floor not cleaned.
Rubbish on floor and in bins.
Bed mattress has mites.
Bites on body and necks.
Pillows awful and uncomfortable.
Shower soaks floor
No ventilation.
- Ross (8/5): A Nice Clean and Comfortable Pod - The pod is located in the lane behind the house it is rented by - that caused me some confusion in the dark as the lane is not lit.
The pod itself is comfortable, tidy and very clean. It is equipped with microwave, kettle and fridge which is great and there is a Coop just up the road. The location is very handy for central Hatfield and just a 20 minute walk from the station. My only real bugbear was the low ceiling. I am 6ft 2" and my hair was brushing against the ceiling.
Also the shower is oddly placed and I ended up having a bath - which was great and there is no shortage of hot water.

- vishwanath (5/5): The entry of property from back side of the garden so it’s not easy to enter the property specially at night time I paid - It’s a small room the ceiling lighting is not working on the table lamp was worked. It was too cold and the air condition is not working properly. It’s very handy and clean

- Vitor (10/5): -
- Garry (10/5): - comfortable and cosy...lovely will be back again
- Sandeep (10/5): -
- Jerry (10/5): Defo worth the money for a short stay, wonderful host very helpful - Nice n secluded, clean comfortable little lodge with a tv etc
- Vitor (10/5): -
- Hollie (10/5): - The place was really nice and had everything you need, the host was lovely and really helpful
- Matt (10/5): Hidden little gem - Great little place. Has everything you need. Host was very helpful as well.
- Jocelyn (8/5): -
- L (9/5): -
- Vitor (10/5): - Easy access, nice and cosy lodge, immaculate and fresh, it was good, but now it's even better with the new bed.
- AlbMig (9/5): - Despite a water liking problem, the owners were kind and extremely polite. Bed cushions are too big for the neck!
- Sivakumar (8/5): Very good -
- Rasaan (7/5): Nice little annex. Does the job for a short stay well - Was clean and tidy. Hosts helped me out when I had issue with lockbox Height of ceiling was low in some places. I’m 6ft and could touch the ceiling in some spots
A microwave would be a good bonus
- Keith (6/5): Clean and homely, but the double bed was too small and not comfortable. - Very clean and lovely log burner. The bed was too small and not an even surface to lie on. It was a sofa bed which had two metal bars running down the middle causing the sides to sloop down.
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant - Neat and clean compact apartment with a pleasant outdoor area and nice bathroom area. Cafe nearby for breakfast etc. No chair inside apartment but it was easy to bring one in from the patio. Sofa Bed wasn't very comfy. I booked for 2 as I thought ( hoped!)there was a separate bedroom and living area- It's actually a studio type apartment and only one sofa bed so my friend booked somewhere else. The entrance is in a kind of alley behind the main house.
- Gabriela (7/5): Nice and friendly, but not adequately described - The communication with the hosts was super-friendly and replies very prompt via the booking.com message app. The living/bed room, and the patio, are equipped and decorated with care. This is an original design for a garage conversion. DISCRIPTION: I feel the description of 'apartment' is misleading. As there is no kitchen unit, no table, no chair. There are some garden chairs on the patio, but these are of no use when the weather is too cold to sit out. There is a micro-wave, a kettle, and crockery for two. But you need to wash up in the bathroom sink.
COMFORT: The bed is a sofa-bed, and this is the only place to sit inside. The bathroom has a bath with a shower, and all works well, but when having a shower, my head touched the ceiling, so it's better suited for smaller people (I'm 172cm).
LOCATION: The entrance is from the backlane, and I didn't feel so comfortable walking up a backlane on my own at night in an area I'm not familiar with. The pictures imply it's in or near a high-street, but there is not much in the way of shops or food outlets in the vicinity (the cafe on the corner is closed in the evening), the off-license is open though. It is probably more convenient for people who drive,
- Simon (10/5): Excellent value and highly recommended. - The host was extremely helpful and the property was presented to a very high standard. excellent value and highly recommended for the solo traveller. Nothing.
- Gina (10/5): happy - Cosy nothing
- Thompson (9/5): Superb - it was very comfy, the patio was a nice addition to chill outside very big spider. named him lodgey jefferson, wasnt much of a bother but scary to look at
- Deborah (8/5): Lovely.i had a nice time - The bathroom was lovely, the lounge was okay too. My host was so hospitable. I needed to microwave my food but there was no microwave.
- Demelo (10/5): It was a work thing but I enjoyed the stay. - The place was nice and cozy, I actually enjoyed it. I would agreee the price is a bit high but I guess everything is expensive now.
- Darren (8/5): very comfortable -
- Vitor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (8/5): Very good - Excellent internet and TV
- Roberta (9/5): Little gem in Hatfield - Lovely little gem hidden away in Hatfield very cosy and private would definitely recommend for a couple retreat. Owner very polite to give me a call just after arrival to help where needed but no worries there it was really a comfortable stay 5/5 from me. I had a little problem with hot water as ran out of heat fast but understandable as its an outbuilding and own boiler system I guess. And the bathroom does get chilly at night beware 😏
- Vitor (10/5): Great room. - Very clean and cozy room. Great hospitality, thank you so much, will be back more times.
- Lou (7/5): Good - Philip was a great host and having the whole place to myself was just what I wanted. I chose not to point out the dusty tv and fridge as it wasn't big deal I'm just about giving honest feedback which I would have struggled with f2f. He also gave me an additional blanket which I appreciated although with the warm air-conditioning it wasn't needed in the end. The tv was a little dusty and the fridge needed a wipe but everywhere else was great. The only significant thing that didn't meet my expectations was the "double bed". It isn't a double bed it's a click clack sofa which wasn't particularly comfortable. The space could easily accommodate a double bed and I'd be more likely to return if it was. Access is via a side road which if you have unstable mobility you might struggle with. As a solo female I actually felt very safe here.
- Kennedy (7/5): Good - Good location, Flexible host, clean, felt homely, wifi connection was good Access was down a dark, alley ( host did offer alternative through the main house however i needed to arrive late so this wouldn't have been an option)
- Smith (5/5): Passable - Was clean and tidy, tv and wifi worked. I liked having the whole place to myself. Im a tall person, the ceiling height was not provided in the description. The sofa bed needs to be improved.
- John (7/5): Good - I like the small comfort and quiet attire. Close to the store and the host was so nice and helpful.
- Nigel (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and comfortable. Nearby shops and food outlets. Quiet location.
- Alan (8/5): great place to stay. Bed could be a bit better but for a couple of nights, great place to stay - Very clean and well managed. Suited what I need. Minor issue with a leak when I arrived byiut the host was all over it and sorted the issue
- Chris (8/5): Good value - A helpful host. A very useful independent unit in a convenient location relative to Hatfield station. It has a spacious bathroom with bath as well as shower. The log burner looked great although we didn’t get a chance to use it. Apartment is a bit of a misnomer as it has no kitchen facilities apart from a kettle. We managed but the sofa bed isn’t great for 2 adults.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (9/5): Cosy stay quite location -
- Phil (10/5): Highly recommend. - Lovely little place. Perfect for my 2 night stay.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
