- Jimmy (7/5): - The room is clean and tidy, very comfortable to live. The location is very far from the city, kind of middle in nowhere. Cannot order food, it has to be reserved in advance only. There's no private bathroom in the bed room am ok but some aren't used to be with public bathroom)..There's no elevator which is difficult for old people because we are traveling with old person. That should be some sign English in onsen room because some people maybe not figure it out what some rooms are such as steam and sauna room.
- Pam (2/5): Do not recommend. They should not have an option without meal service as it’s very remote - Onsen No facilities for brining own food We had to ask for chopsticks and it was a hassle. This was our worst stay in Japan
- Marilyn (10/5): An oasis in Japan. - Hotel Miki is a gem! It is located within a nature reserve and sits above the quaint village of Maize. We loved the quiet of the surrounding environment. It is a wonderful break from the rigours of daily life and travel. We stayed 3 days and did not want to leave. The variety of onsens is spectacular and the traditional meals are outstanding. Be sure to ask about their shuttle if you do not have your own car. The hotel should give travellers who use public transit specific information on the best way to get to their points of shuttle pick up. We went to the tourist information in Gero and they helped us contact the property. After that, the staff were great in organizing shuttles for us.
- Georgia (6/5): Lovely hotel but a few issue to be aware of. - Overall the hotel is lovely! It is very remote which is what we were looking for. The views were amazing and the rooms very clean.
We had a traditional Japanese room which was lovely but the futons weren’t very comfortable so we doubled up.
The staff are lovely, they don’t speak very good English but try very hard. There were a few issues which I wish we had known before hand.
Firstly, we had been travelling all day and wanted to eat at the restaurant to be told in check in that we couldn’t eat at the restaurant, there was nothing near by and we could buy a pot noodle from their shop. Had we known this, we would have booked well in advance. The last thing we wanted was to get back in the car. However, we found a lovely restaurant in Gero. We were lucky that we had the car.
Secondly, I knew I couldn’t use the Onsen because of my two tiny tattoos, which wasn’t an issue because I wasn’t there for the Onsen and had no intention of using it. However, as the room does not have a shower, this also meant I wasn’t not able to have a shower or wash at the end of a long day.
Finally, on check out we was charges ¥700. When we asked what for we were told it was for the Onsen. We explained we had not used the Onsen and were the told it was for staying the night. We paid the fee as we are not people to make a fuss however, this fee was never explained to us either on booking.com or by the hotel on check in or on information provided.
We had a nice stay but would on reflection we would have probably gone elsewhere.
- Yuen Ying (10/5): - The hot spring are very nice and the food is surprisingly good. The staff are very helpful as our flight delayed and the staff replied message timely which made our trip went smoothly. The location is somehow far away.

- Vidya (9/5): Nice place to stay - The place was a little bit outside Gero Onsen city. The room was quite large and the bed was comfy. We enjoyed massage chair in the room. The dinner and breakfast set was ok and nice though not plentiful. Onsen was nice particular outdoor with nice snowy view. The best thing of this hotel was nice, friendly and helpful particular a young female staff at front desk who smile all the time. There was no elevator and we had to struggle taking luggage via stairs (if you stay on the 3rd floor). The hotel allow outside guest to use onsen and most of the time it was very crowded.
- daniel yeung (8/5): staff are nice, food are good. location is a bit far. faciltiies should be upgraded a bit. - there should be a bath inside each bedroom. you have to go to onsen for bath.

- Yukiko (9/5): -
- jason (10/5): - The onsen area was amazing. So many different baths to choose from. Appreciated the shuttle from the station. Location was beautiful, but a bit too remote.
- Bee Yen (8/5): Quite location in the mountains - Spacious room, comfortable beds. Big onsen with different pools Meals must be pre-booked, and couldn't be made at the time of check in. The nearest convenience store is 30 min drive away, and the little shop in the hotel sells limited qty of cup noodles and buns
- eric (9/5): - Large spacious room and facilities. Great onsen with beautiful outdoor baths surrounded by scenic mountains Book meals ahead of stay. There are no other eating options anywhere near by.
- Dylan (6/5): Quiet, kaiseki was great. Bath a bit of miss - Being out in the middle of nowhere it was quiet, surrounded by mountains and the river nearby.
The kaiseki from dinner was wonderful, a taste of season and each night we stayed we had slightly different meals. Like wise for breakfast.
The variety of onsen was ok, the though none of them felt overly hot. The open air onsen was definitely the pick of the lot. Now the worst part unfortunately was the fact we booked a Deluxe Family Room which sleeps 10 people (our family was 5), that was shown on Booking.com as having a private open air bath and we paid a premium for that particular room had no private bath at all.
We questioned the from desk but the language barrier was too great and they just gestured that either they didn’t have any available or that they didn’t have them at all.
Huge let down after travelling such a long way.
Definitely worth having a car if you are going to visit this place.
- Ha Ju Ka (9/5): - Our room was spacious and it was incredibly comfortable.
We loved the spa area. It's pretty big with a good variety of pools.
The staff was lovely, too.
We had no food there. There is light music during the day on the corridors, which we find slightly annoying.
There is no instant coffee in the room, only tea.
- shai (7/5): -

- sarah (10/5): - Els banys i el sopar, espectaculars!!!! Brutal!!!
- Kaori (7/5): -
- Marcin (7/5): Very good for family stay or group trip, but not if looking for quiet escape to the nature - Location perfect, Onsen was big with many different types of baths, but was very crowded and noisy.

- Tsz Yik (10/5): - The onsen is amazing!
Room is huge :) very classic-japanese onsen hotel.
Very quiet environment. Although staff dont speak fluent english, they try their best to communicate! Appreciate the effort!
- Sans_Pedro (10/5): Exceptionally beautiful location, the room has a beautiful view of the mountains. Amazing service! - For my wife and I, this was the highlight out all the places that we stayed in Japan - Well done to Mr. Sato at the front desk for making our time here a positive experience. Everyday was planned well with a free transfer to Hida Higashi train station. At first we were worried how we would get to the hotel, but Mr. Sato organised everything for us. Another option for dinner besides the banquet, as we did not want to eat the same food every night.

- Anniemcg (9/5): February is a quiet time to visit. - Quiet and peaceful location. The spa pools were lovely. The courtesy shuttle bus to Hida Hagiwara station was appreciated, as we were travelling without a car.
It would be nice to have an alternative the kaiseki dinner each evening, as the food is excellent, but so much food! The hallways were cold!
- Thanyaluck (10/5): Peaceful and very recharging - Hotel Miki is a traditional Japanese staycation style hotel and my family love it here! The room was a little old but was well kept. The hot spring is spacious with variety of baths both in and out door. The view of the out door bath was quite nice. Dinner was amazing! Traditional hot serves of Hida beef on spring onion miso serving in Kaiseki style (12 courses meal) worth every penny! The staff were mostly comunicating in Japanese and a bit of English but they were helpful and very welcoming. there is no elevator in the building and if you ended up living on the third floor with a heavy luggages, that might be a workout day for you.
