Guest Reviews
- Sharon (10/5): Awesome cottage in a beautiful setting - Very comfortable and stylish cottage. Extra touches were appreciated, e.g. basic provisions on arrival, gorgeous toileteries, useful info. manual & local guides (including OS maps). Nice linens provided, comfy bed and tranquil courtyard garden (despite the rain!) - we decompressed the second we opened the back door! We didn't use the wood burner, just central heating, but imagine it's very romantic on a cold evening. The village is in a breathtaking setting, with a well-stocked local shop (with beautiful wee garden) and a hotel/bar-restaurant with stunning beer garden, good food & helpful staff. Well placed for local walks and sightseeing. We would love to return, and highly recommend The Burrow. There is nothing not to like. You will feel thoroughly pampered if you visit.

Everything is considered for a peaceful stay and the bed is comfortable. I especially loved the bed after hiking the Cheviots! I will certainly rebook in the future. There was nothing I didnāt like. You need to be aware the access to upstairs is a beautiful but steep staircase and it is a peaceful little village before you book.

- Fiona (10/5): Peaceful cosy cottage ideally located to explore the area - The information folder about the cottage & surrounding area was really helpful. The cleanliness & fabulous log fire. Peaceful location & we appreciated recommendations of places to visit from the hosts during our stay. Everything was great.
- Daniel (10/5): Will definitely return - A really well finished and well appointed property in a lovely location. 10/10 Nothing negative to say
- JIM (10/5): - Very comfortable and appreciated the milk, tea and coffee for use. Heating was great, thanks for advice about central heating as we were not in long enough to enjoy the wood burner.,.many that free. Nothing, we couldn't get the remote for TV to work but when we checked it we found only one battery in it, it needs a second, we would have bought one but didn't get time and wasn't a problem, we used one out of other remote š.
- Sandra (10/5): Everything we needed all of a high standard -
- JonathĆ n (10/5): - The Burrow is a beautiful little cottage in a quiet very friendly village with a community pub with great atmosphere and food.
The cottage was so relaxing with the log fire š„.

- Melanie (9/5): - Really comfortable wee house in a gorgeous location in the Scottish borders. Great information about walks and the area. Good communication. We had a lovely stay.
- hugh (9/5): - Lovely well equipped property, everything you need for a short stay provided, even logs and kindling for log burner. Comfy bed and great shower, free wi-fi and good information about local area provided too. Metal staircase to go upstairs is rather sore on the feet, remember to bring slippers or suchlike! lol
- Caroline (10/5): A wonderful stay in a beautiful home in a very friendly village enjoying the countryside of the Scottish borders. - Everything!! A beautiful home with everything you could wish for. Took me a little while to get use to the spiral staircase, but I soon got the hang of it!
- Patricia (10/5): - The quality of the furnishings and equipment was exceptional. The bed is very comfy and the bathroom is beautiful. The location in the friendliest village is the icing on the cake. The only negative for me was the spiral staircase. Not a criticism of the cottage, more of my knees!
- Prudence (10/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Comfortable, cosy and well located. - We had a great couple of days at The Burrow.
The location was excellent, making it easy to explore the area and visit family nearby. The Burrow itself was cosy and homely, with a real attention to detail that made it feel welcoming and comfortable from the moment we arrived. The hosts were great, with excellent communication throughout our stay ā friendly, responsive, and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Yvonne (9/5): Heerlijk!
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Burgess (10/5): The Delightful Burrow - Lovely character cottage in a charming village nestling in the hills.
The community shop (next door but one) is excellent for supplies and the community run pub down the hill was great for lunch and very reasonable.
The cottage had everything we needed including a log burner.
We were able to park our scooter directly outside and there were walks from the door. Nothing, everything was great. The only downside was that we had one day of very heavy rain. As a result of that we were forced to have a down day drinking and eating in the pub then falling asleep by the log burner back at the cottage.
If you don't like talking to people this is not the cottage for you. Everyone we bumped into in the village, the shop, the pub and the church stopped for a chat with us which we thought was really nice. š

- Sylvia (9/5): -
- Mackie (9/5): Cute and stylish - Beautifully furnished. Bedroom was lovely and comfortable. Very nice courtyard garden. Very peaceful setting Spiral staircase was smart and solid but not so easy for those of us lacking agility
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Well equipped. Great shower. All comfortable. A really imaginative use of an older building. Courtyard great for sitting in Sitting room a bit dark.
- Lynn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - The location was so picturesque, & the cottage itself was perfect. I was staying there on my own & felt very safe within the cottage. The log burner was a joy after a day out & about. I absolutely loved this place it was just so cosy & homely. No negative feedback at all.

- Louise (10/5): A super wee find. - This was a super wee find, warm, comfortable & clean. Everything was provided that we needed for our 4 night stay. Fantastic shower, comfy bed and lovely welcome pack not only for us but for Molly our Yorkshire Terrier
- Alastair (10/5): Lovely cottage in the Scottish Borders - Morebattle is a small, pretty village surrounded by beautiful countryside just over the border from England in Scotland. It is a 10 minute drive from Kelso, which has a large Sainsbury's supermarket and plenty of shops and places to eat.
The Burrow is situated a few doors away from the local community shop which is very convenient for your morning newspaper, logs for the fire and all the other bits and pieces you would expect to find in such a shop.
Parking outside the Burrow was easy. Check in was simple.
Inside, the cottage was warm and clean with a well stocked kitchen, a comfortable lounge, a large bathroom, and lovely bedroom.
Lighting the log fire each evening was easy and a pleasure, though not necessary to maintain a warm cottage.
It was a nice touch for a pint of milk to be in the fridge for us when we arrived as we arrived in the evening after the local shop had shut.
Finally, a huge thank you to the gentleman working in the community shop who helped us start our car on the morning we left. The battery was dead and he fetched his jump leads and car to get us going. We were very grateful.
- Carolann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Great location and very comfortable accommodation. - Stylish and comfortable.
Local Community Shop was excellent too. Knives were not sharpened.
Duvet was too warm.
- Laura (10/5): Cosy home with very comfortable bed! - Stayed here while working the Montane Spine Race. Ideal location only 10 minutes from the finish line. Bed was so comfy, just what I needed after working long days. The shower was also amazing. Just wish I could have stayed longer and made use of the log burner. Nothing
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional - Great little gem
- Graeme (10/5): Cosy, comfortable, quaint quiet retreat - Excellent facilities, cosy ,lovely quaint place with character and everything you need.Parking outside, area is ideal for walking and a great base to stay in comfort and lovely friendly people around if you fancy a chat with the locals and a well stocked shop on the doorstep.Short drive into kelso and some lovely places for a cake and coffee.Nice walk along the river bank and nature to watch whilst doing so. Nothing to dislike.
- Peter (10/5): Blissful.. (again.. š..) - We loved everything about The Burrow.
Our 2nd visit here, and it was FANTASTIC AGAIN... So relaxing...
A very cozy & cute small property, but EXCELLENT intelligent use of all internal space.
Take your slippers for Spiral Staircase, or try it barefoot to make you smile....!! Brilliant... š
Everything you could possibly need is here, including the 'priceless' blissful peace and quiet of this tranquil small friendly village.
Exquisite..!! (and great price point too...!!..)
Hosted by the extremely helpful and caring Merci and Darryn, who are very prompt to answer any queries, however small..
For either singles or couples... ;
Give it a go.....
You will not be disappointed.... Nothing.
It's a great peaceful place to stay...
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (8/5): Overall we would recommend this cottage - Overall it was warm & very comfortable for our needs It took a bit of time to figure out how the shower worked , the bedside glass lamp shades were dusty & could of been cleaner as the glass is dirty also the glass table and glass fittings in the living area could do with a clean
- Robert (10/5): The Burrow was so well equipped. Very comfortable, we didnāt want to leave. - Loved everything from the apartment to the local store. The setting was peaceful, the village residents were very friendly. Nothing except having to leave.

- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Great service and contact from start to finish. Willing to accommodate a last minute change in our arrival that was very much appreciated. I didn't like that I didn't book a third night!
- Audrey (10/5): Lovely cottage - Unfortunately couldnt get car parking where you suggested as road works and temp traffic lights outside cottage prevented parking outside and opposite also as signs up saying no parking. However managed to park outside another holiday cottage further down which was empty so was able to park outside it after lady in Sunny side cottage advised to park there.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, modern, everything you could need for a home from home. Little box set up for the dogs with blankets, bowls, toys and treats. Quiet area but with lots of places to visit within driving distance. Excellent communication from the owners. Nothing
- Katie (10/5): A little bundle of perfection - The cottage was beautiful, had everything you could need, everything was stunning down to fixtures and fittings. Super comfy bed and amazing shower.

- Jakki (10/5): Wonderful & would defo stay again - There was nothing negative about this property. It was very high spec & loved everything about. Would highly recommend this property. 5 star There was nothing negative
- Peter (10/5): Favulous cozy cottage. - A very comfortable and well presented little cottage in a nice little village. Has a nice little courtyard for sitting out with a G&T. Well stocked village shop. Kitchen was a little bit chilly first thing...a small infrared radiator ( on a timer) mounted on the wall would have taken the chill off the room, but it wasnt really too bad as the weather was reasonably warm. Would highly recommend.
- Paul (10/5): Bang on for a quiet and relaxing tour stop. - Cute , cozy, stylish and well equipped. Free parking and doggies. Lovely warm fire. Nothing. Shame the pub was shut.
- Stephen (10/5): Modern clean property with all mod cons in a lovely period property, we loved our stay - We loved The Burrow, it was clean and very well appointed. The kitchen was just perfect and so was the rain shower in the lovely bathroom. The house was warm, cosy and peaceful. A great couple of nights sleep too. The dog loved the treats. - Michelle (9/5): Lovely property; everything so well thought out! - Fantastic property for a couple, lovely neighbourhood and great for exploring the area.
I loved that it was truly dog friendly too, full supplies provided for the pooch! He was very happy š Option for maybe two single beds rather than a double as it might appeal to āfriendsā and couples.
- Joanne (10/5): An amazing few days away. - Great property. Everything we needed and more. Spotlessly clean. Good location too.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely ,comfortable cottage perfect for two people in a quiet village. The cottage is equipped with everything you need and attention to detail is superb. Has a wood burning stove in the living area which was lovely and cosy in the evening. The bathroom has a fantastic rain shower which I could have stayed in for hours and the bed was very comfortable as was the lovely leather sofa. Free parking just outside the house which also has a patio with seating to enjoy a glass of wine. There is a local store on the doorstep for supplies and Morebattle is situated less than 10 mins drive from both Kelso and Jedburgh. The Borders are a beautiful part of the world and the owners were fantastic when I enquired about staying an extra night. Very helpful with lots of information on where to visit. Can't wait to return. Nothing not to like.
- Gillian (9/5): Perfect base for solo travellers or couples - a cosy home from home - The cottage was cosy and everything I could want for a solo stay with work. The bathroom is fabulous, the cottage roasting and the bed very very comfortable. Close enough for travelling each day to Kelso for work. I'd have liked a reading lamp in living room (just personal choice) but the host has already put one in place since my feedback!
- Gemma (10/5): Great stay, would definitely stay here again!! - Beautiful little cottage, excellent level of furnishing, kitchen and bathroom. Lovely to have option of Log burner, and some logs included. Lovely little village. Sign for parking space would be handy.

-The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable
-The location was great and locals were really friendly
-We had a great time at the cottage! Just a few points for the owners:
-The biscuits left for us were unfortunately out of date which was a shame
-The dishes (pots, pans, plates) were not cleaned well by the previous guests as they had food marks on them.
-The hot water didn't get hot enough in either the kitchen or upstairs/shower on our last night/morning. It was lovely and hot every day before that so not sure if this was just a one off thing.
