Guest Reviews
- kevan (10/5): - Beautiful place to wake up and have a great breakfast. Comfortable bed, nice room, lovely extras. I will stay here again.
- susan (6/5): A lot of effort has obviously gone in to restore the property to its original glory - The location was very central and close a range of restaurants . The bed was comfortable. There were two flights of stairs to our room. This was challenging with two heavy suitcases. Very limited car parking. Breakfast was adequate.
- Lynette (7/5): Ok - We had road works outside our room which disrupted our sleep As above
- Maha (7/5): Great location and great heritage/historic aesthetic vibe - It was a very heritage vibe with furniture to match the theme and history of the Manor. I liked the historic aesthetic and facade
Location is fantastic! Paid parking available within the hotel otherwise plenty of paid street parking around. The couches in the room can do with a steam clean as they were quite stained. It would have been nice if the complimentary continental breakfast had hot items included.
- Justin (9/5): -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Fabulous accommodation close to everything. Lovely light breakfast. - Great location easy walking to everything Nothing
- Mohd Fauzi Bin (10/5): excellent - location, breakfast and parking facilities none
- Tams (10/5): Beautiful old world.charm - Lovely decor, excellent continental breakfast, very comfortable beds The room was large which is good but feel the heater (air con unit) was not strong enough to warm up the room.
- Verinia (7/5): -
- Glenn (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay at The Macquarie Manor, highly recommended. - Great Location, large room, good breakfast, friendly staff, easy after-hours check-in, Wine bar,
- Fiona (9/5): Great location, great hotel - This is the second time that I have stayed there. It’s a beautiful property in the centre of Hobart & very clean and comfortable
- Vršínská (9/5): - Velikost pokoje, barel na doplnění vody, možnost uložení zavazadel při dřívějším check in, krásné vybavení, v centru-dobra dostupnost Stavební práce během pobytu, okno pouze na ochoz- nemožnost vyvětrat, pestřejší snídaně-vice slaných variant
- Clara (9/5): - We had an upgrade to a better room which was very nice We had the breakfast included but I didn’t like that we had to pay the coffee extra. Otherwise it was great
- Kiran Vincy (6/5): Pleasant stay in the heart of Hobart city - Location was fantastic, right in the heart of the city. 150+ year old property with lots of character. Decent breakfast spread and free instant coffee. Sarah and the other girls at the reception were great. Went above and beyond to take care of us during the stay. Being an old property which was originally a house there are challenges with the room layouts and facilities. Ensuite and Rooms are in need of a massive refresh. Rooms can be cold and the air con does struggle to keep it warm owing to the size of the rooms. Breakfast could be improved by adding some sort of eggs or hot food options.
- wayne (8/5): -
- xi (9/5): - 位置非常好👍,我们住的是地下一楼,面积非常大。 浴室洗澡只有半扇门,洗澡时水会溅到外面,造成浴室很多水,容易湿滑。
- Raewyn (9/5): Lovely property - Very warm welcome. Large comfortable room with comfortable bed.
Great breakfast. Shower was poky with intermittent hot and cold
- Stephen (9/5): Comfortable room in an excellent location. - Large, comfortable room. Complimentary continental breakfast, with dietary preferences taken care of. Excellent location - close to offices, shops and many tourist attractions.
- Yu-Cheng (8/5): Nice boutiques hotel nest in Hobart CBD - Historic building Dust
- Chris (8/5): A nice cosy place to stay close to centre of town. - A beautiful building and the staff were very helpful and professional. Situated close to everything in the city. The room was very spacious. Not much to mention. Our particular room didn't have external windows, not a big problem if you're mainly out and about. But something to consider if important to you.
- Charles (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): We were more than satisfied with all aspects of Macquarie. A wonderful stay for 3 nights. - The Macquarie is in an ideal location for seeing all the sights of Hobart. Most attractions are within walking distance, including some excellent cafes and restaurants. The Skybus for the airport stops just across the road, so very convenient.
We were most impressed with the receptionist who was friendly, efficient and extremely helpful. Thank you so much.
Our room was comfortable and quiet, with no traffic noise.
Breakfast was fine, with dishes being constantly replenished with fresh food.
- Klaus (9/5): - Großes Zimmer Heizung ging nicht und es war schon recht kalt draußen.
- Ross (8/5): -
- JOANNA (8/5): - there is a nice small hotel with English style decoration. great location with walking distance to main attractions. very nice and accommodating staff; good breakfast. very spacious family room with comfortable beds. n/a
- Lilly (10/5): -
- Megan (8/5): Loved the vibe of the place , staff very friendly wonderful hospitality - Lovely building, cool vibe , great location
- Steven (5/5): Very average - Proximity to the city was good Breakfast which was touted as a bonus, was just supermarket goods.
- Robert (8/5): -
- pete mannion (7/5): -
- Annette (8/5): Character stay, quite good location, nice heritage vibe downstairs with brekkie provided. - Character heritage building. Nice breakfast provided. Spacious room. Our room was in added wing, slightly unusual with corridor of glass so curtains pulled for privacy from corridor. No wifi available from room - codes given did not work.
- זהבה (10/5): ממליצה בחום - מקום מקסים, בית יפה מאוד מיוחד ועתיק
- Benjamin (10/5): Great service - Style
- Carol and Rex (9/5): -
- Andrea (6/5): Nice location but not suitable for me - Architecture , old mansion Constant noise throughout the entire night (fan? heating system? Something else ?). The noise was coming from outside the room. I informed the staff, who admitted there was a constant noise, but the issue was not resolved. As a result, I had a very poor night’s sleep (2 days).
- Veronika (10/5): - Delicious breakfast, great location, nice room, super nice staff. We loved it here
- Kim (8/5): -
- Jenny (9/5): Vintage vibes - Convenient location. Close to a sky bus stop. Easy walk to Salamanca Markets. Great continental breakfast included.
Loved the old world charm.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was on the top floor so there were multiple sets of stairs to contend with. However I did receive help from a staff member to carry my suitcase up the stairs.
- Ross (10/5): -
- Natasha (5/5): Disappointing for the cost. Great location - Location was great, the entrance and building were lovely and the floor you enter in.
Bed was very comfortable Our room looked terrible. Nothing like the pictures. Was told it was an old building but this was not the case. I think the other rooms looked fine but this room is probably a last booking room. The shower screen broken off and not bothered to fix. The ceiling light just a bulb with cover broken off, room looked dirty. The beds were not the beds in any of the pictures I saw. It was a busy weekend and appeared we were charged the same for a room that should probably not be in use or needed maintenance.
Breakfast was so limited and was just pastries from Cole’s. Coffee was not included in the price.
- Lyndon (10/5): Perfect - Location and able to leave luggage during the day
- Loretta (7/5): Charming hotel, clean and comfortable - Gorgeous old building with early 1900s character in walking distance to Salamanca. Comfortable and clean, and really good value.
- Bk_M (9/5): - Great location, just a few minutes walk from the center of the city and the port. Beautiful old stone building. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are in a good state, but could benefit from a renovation
- Graeme (7/5): -
- Wayne (8/5): Great for a short stay in a heritage building - Location, value, breakfast and heritage style
- Julia (8/5): Good location. Nice hotel. - The room was very big with high ceilings and the staff brought the luggage upstairs. Breakfast was nice. Location is central. The room was big so that they could fit two queen size beds but they only had one and instead two old couches. That was weird.
- Marie (10/5): - Great location and lovely place to stay.
- Vanessa Sofia (6/5): - Central location, breakfast was nice, large space and staff was friendly. The family room needed serious maintenance, no door or screen in the shower, holes on the wall, pipes were super noisy. Soft mattresses. Room was in the basement.
- Maclean (8/5): Great place to stay if you don't have a car - Great location/ old style building - lovely light filled room (room 1- others have less light) No car parking- hotel charges $25 per night. Breakfast was nothing special - toast and cereal. Nice little shared lounge for relaxing and reading. Bar not really a happening place- closed at 6pm
- Glynis (9/5): Clean, comfortable, affordable and close to cbd. - Perfect location to cbd, markets, theatre, food. Walking distance if desired. Staff were excellent. Accommodation clean and comfortable. Price included a small continental breakfast, which was perfect for what we needed. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Nothing comes to mind. Perfect for a weekend stay
- Jane (5/5): -
- Adielle (9/5): Great stay close to city centre - Stunning building. Good size room. Friendly and helpful staff. Not a big issue but the couch was uncomfortable to sit on and the bath towels were thin.
- Michael (5/5): I would not have paid full price for this room - Beautiful building,Amazing foyer Our room had no windows, shabby in need of a good refurbishment room 6 ,spoke to front desk to change room .
- Kim (9/5): Great location, very clean and friendly staff - Great location and lots character Nothing
- Kim (9/5): Great location and lots of character - It is in a great location and the room was very spacious and clean. Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): -
- estelle (10/5): A great central place to stay with friendly welcoming staff. - The period of the building and the spaciousness of the room. Breakfast was inclusive for a very reasonable price. In the centre of the city with free overnight parking on the street. Cocktail lounge was lovely. Nothing
- lucy (9/5): -
- Sally (8/5): A very good night’s stay in a great location - Location & friendly staff, set in a beautiful old building, rich with history
- Jenkins (2/5): Very disappointing for the price. - Location Bathroom fittings broke during our stay. Not suitable for such an expensive hotel. Very poor. We were later charged for drinks we didn’t have. Nothing was mentioned at checkout only saw the charge later. Hotel sign at front doesn’t match the hotel name so difficult to find on a busy one way street. I would not recommend this hotel at all. Very poor
- Rebecca (9/5): Great Girls Trip Accom in Family Roo - Gorgeous heritage accom, great breakfast, parking convenient if book ahead
- Jan (10/5): -
- Janie (8/5): Central location with history and comfort in spades. - Great location, excellent buffet breakfast, roomy comfortable suite. Quality furniture with history. The shower took 5 minutes for hot water to come through.
- Le Provost (5/5): -
- Rhonda (8/5): -
- Janelle (7/5): -
- George Soravia (8/5): Great Location. - Beautiful old world charm. Very spacious rooms. Located in the heart of Hobart so easy walking down to the water front, pubs restaurants and Salamanca. Breakfast was also great.
- Tom (10/5): I enjoyed it thoroughly. - Great location, staff was friendly. The hotel has got charm and history.
- Kwok Keung (7/5): -
- Nikolas Moore (10/5): Incredible value, great location, quiet - I stayed at two different places in Hobart and while the other one was good, this one, which I booked the day before, was better. The breakfast was a lot nicer and more extensive than at the other place, there were no noise issues and it was warmer. I'm a sensitive sleeper and despite being in the middle of the city had no issues with noise at all. Also it was incredibly value. I did not experience any issues with this place that I can think of.
- charles (7/5): Central Old Hotel that's pretty basic but in good location - We had room 9 in the hotel which was on the first floor in the main building. Nice double room that was quiet when windows were closed. Note - the shower, sink and toilet are directly in the bedroom. That is - the shower is not private. The toilets in behind a 3/4 wall, but all in the same room. Reminded us of old boarding house when travelling in Europe many years ago. The beds were comfortable, internet was good. It's a beautiful old building and reasonably central being only a short walk to main attractions. Breakfast was continental - so expect only a few supermarket pastries and supermarket croissants that have been warmed. Coffee is small single serve sachets. For the price per night, a coffee machine would have been expected and that was unfortunate. You can buy a coffee made by the receptionist, but probably worth going down the road 30 seconds and buy from a cafe instead. Factory bread was stale on both mornings, but after toasting, it was okay. The Yoghurt provided was excellent. Unfortunately, whilst we asked for our bedroom to be serviced after two nights, this did not happen so for third night had to request new towels.
- Michael (8/5): A pleasant stay in a very central location - Location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and just generally a nice property The bathrooms are looking a little tired. Our original room didn’t have any windows however we were moved to another room after a couple of days -much nicer
- Rebecca (10/5): - Character-filled, large, charming rooms. Beautiful decor, lovely staff.
- Narda (5/5): -
- Mary (10/5): Just stay there - fabulous - The old world charm of the Macquarie Manor was a wonderful experience for us.
We booked the family room downstairs which boasted three separate areas. The first room you stepped into was like a wide corridor in between the two bedrooms and was set up with tea & coffee making facilities, table & chairs and it was a quiet area to hide from the kids 😁😁
One bedroom had a double/queen sized bed and two single beds, antique wardrobe, couch, TV and plenty of room to spread out. And plenty of power points for charging your devices.
The second bedroom had a queen sized bed and the family bathroom. This room also had a mini fridge and a TV.
The two lounge areas of the main reception had quirky decor (certainly a talking point), small library, and comfy leather lounges.
I loved the high ceilings and intricate fixtures & lighting.
The included Continental Breakfast was served in the dining room with a selection of fresh, locally sourced food items, freshly baked pastries, juices, coffee, tea, yoghurt and fresh fruit. That really was a bonus. We thought we'd just get some toast 😀
We definitely recommend this boutique hotel - plenty of room for your family and right in the city. It would have been just that bit better with two bathrooms.
- sharon (9/5): Charming old fashion getaway to give yourself some spoiling whilst in Hobart - A beautifully renovated Georgian manor fit for royalty
Superb continental breakfast spread. Had a coffee machine there for a coffee lovers morning fix. 10 min walk to harbour precinct Noisy leaky shower head connection at wall. That was mentioned to them for fixing
- Peter (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Best value and a beautiful boutique hotel - Love the decor….. size of room… Access for me was a little difficult
- Mark (8/5): Lovely stay in the centre of Hobart. Great staff and breakfast was relaxed and complete. - Great location - central to the key areas in the city. Very busy street - the Main Street in Hobart and the Island. Road noise from 6am but the location made it worth it
- Lorraine (7/5): Great location - Location Lack of milk in fridge - I arrived late so could not get more.
- Kylie (9/5): Would recommend - A boutique hotel with history and charm. Great location close to Salamanca, Constitution dock and Battery Point. Rooms large, great bonus continental breakfast. Bathrooms dated but fine and clean
- Gabriele (8/5): Good staying in Hobart - Very close to city center, friendly staff. Bathroom would benefit from some renovation
Vorsicht, Tinnitus-Gefahr!
5. Straßen-Lärm siehe oben (in Zimmer Nr. 1).
- Marilyn (9/5): Great location to catch ferry to MONA Excellent breakfast - Location to wharves Tight parking
Meant for 5 cars but there were 6!
- Leech (10/5): -
- Rhonda (10/5): Stay in old world Hobart! - Lovely brekky ,beautiful room having been upgraded, but its the lovely young people working there who are so friendly and helpful that make this a special place to stay! Nothing
- Kes (10/5): -
- Russ (8/5): - I thought that there was a desk in the room. I had to rearrange it to use the TV monitor with my laptop.
- Kim (5/5): If I had paid full price I’d be very unhappy - Location was good . Staff were nice. Room only had light from the verandah - no windows. For privacy you had to close the curtains therefore blocking any light . Room was like a dorm . Bathroom needing refreshing . We got a “50%” discount . Hotel not worth what “full price “ is supposed to have been .
- Eliza (7/5): Good location but very basic for what you pay. - Location was great, close to Salamanca and the harbour, restaurants etc. Bed was super comfy. Original building has a lovey old world with a modern twist charm. When we arrived the staff member said “we’ve upgraded you to a nicer room” which was unexpected. When we were shown to our room it was clear that was completely untrue. If there were worse rooms I’d be surprised. The type of room we’d booked was not in the original house but in an extension that had been converted to more hotel rooms. Obviously we couldn’t know that when we booked. The windows faced a communal hallway so we sat with the heavy drapes closed for privacy. The upper windows uncovered by the drapes had been painted (badly) so help diffuse light. It was SO noisy in the morning. The plumbing is very old and someone in a neighbouring room showered for 30 minutes so we had ear piercing, pipe rattling noise the whole time.
- angela (8/5): Comfortable with a good location - The decor was stylish and full of character. Couldn’t really open windows as they looked over the corridor and car park so therefore had to keep curtains pulled.
- Sian (6/5): - The location was great Breakfast was very average
- Colin Douglas Musson (10/5): If we had time we would have stayed longer - Breakfast was ok, no complaints, Staff were amazing, especially the young lady who was there to greet us on arrival, and departure in the afternoon the next day, nicest person we have dealt with in all our stays in Tasmania, Rooms were clean and tidy. Would defiantly stay again and recommend. Shower Flooded, advised morning staff at breakfast - may be need someone to look at drain pipes, Built in 1875 so these things happen...
- Geoff (7/5): A good recovery (free upgrade on last night) - Free upgrade on last night Toilet was smelley upon arrival
- Sarah (9/5): Very nice and would come again - It was clean , spacious , beautiful , old and quirky , extremely comfortable bed and the staff were friendly and helpful . The only thing i would comment on is it would have been nice for some bread to toast as not everybody is a choice for pastries .
- Cheryl (10/5): the staff were fantastic also. - breakfast was excellent. location was excellent. room was very good. loved our stay there, the pillows! lol
- Petra (6/5): - Locatie Geen raam naar buiten, stofferig
- Michelle (9/5): Great location, beautiful old style building and accommodation - Breakfast and location were both excellent
- Greg (7/5): Nice historical accommodation in central location. - The location was very close to wharfs and markets. They provide a good quality continent breakfast, although barista coffee is extra. Bar reception could have longer opening hours. More a convince issue then a problem.
- Chris (8/5): A great Hobart experience. Good value for money. - Lovely charming old Hobart building, with more character than most standard (plain, beige) hotels! The Brekky was great; the staff were really lovely and helpful. My shower took a lo g time to heat up, but once it was going it was fine.
