Guest Reviews
- Adam (9/5): - The location was excellent with a 1 euro bus into Nerja from the main road. The villa itself was great - especially the views and the outdoor space. We had issues with water pressure but this was quickly addressed and sorted by the staff. Overall we loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again. The bedrooms could do with more mirrors and places to hang towels.
- Schouten (6/5): - De ruimtes in het huis (4 ruime slaapkamers, 2 badkamers, keuken, eetkamer en woonkamer), locatie en uitzicht waren top. Alles is erg gedateerd en vies. Bedden heel hard.
- Jo (3/5): Fab location, everything else was severely lacking - Location was amazing Fridge didn’t work and had to be replaced but not until we had repeatedly contacted the managing team. 1 member of our group needed to keep insulin refrigerated, plus we had bought food and drinks so a fridge was imperative
Filthy sun loungers
Filthy fan in the kitchen
Beds were extremely uncomfortable
Broken blind in bedroom
Lack of shower curtain which caused a slip hazard in the en-suite
No mirrors on bedrooms
No key for back door
No WiFi
- Jennifer (6/5): Such potential to be great but execution by the rental office and owner failed them - The pool is large and seemed always at a pleasant temperature. It gets the sun all day (it was July) The view from the pool and terrace is fantastic also. The location of the property was perfect for us as we had 2 cars rented. There are 3 fantastic restaurants within 5-10 min walk and you could walk to a couple of beaches (although recommend bus/car as it's at least 10mins to our preferred beach - Playa Vilches) Playa Vilches has sun loungers you can book (15 euros for 2 and a parasol) and there's a kiosk for drinks/snacks and a restaurant. Also ample parking if you get there in the morning.
As you can see below we had a long list of things that were wrong with the place when we arrived. What I will say is that whilst these should never have been an issue to begin with the rental office did promptly address them. They provided a pedestal fan for the living room to bolster the air flow (suggest one or two more for the size of the place though!!) 3 additional parasols, ant and mosquito repellent, new fridge (didn't offer to restock it mind you when our food was spoiled from lack of working fridge for 24 hours!) and a shower curtain. The sun loungers and extra expense we had to pay to be able to use them comfortably was never addressed (by the owner) When we arrived we were very disheartened by several things.
1. Air-con only in the bedrooms and we were provided one tiny fan for the rest of the vast living areas. Please put this in your property description!!!
2. There are no pool towels provided - this is not mentioned in their booking.com ad and given every other villa we have stayed in has provided these we did not bring any. We had to go to Aldi and get towels for our party of 7. An expense we could have done without. Please put this in your property description!!!
3. The sun loungers were dirty. When we told the rental office we were told this was the responsibility of the owner and they would ask him to rectify. He never showed up the whole 10 days we were there. Given pool towels were also not provided, we had to get something to cover these in Aldi also - more expense.
4. There were 2 fridges - neither were working and we were not told about this. We arrived with a full Aldi grocery shop and nowhere safe to put our cold food (more wasted expense). The morning after we arrived I received a call from the rental office to say a fridge would be arriving that day (we'd still at this point not been made aware of this and I had sent two emails since my arrival which were not addressed at this point) It was on that call that I asked about the list of items I sent them an email on that were not satisfactory.
5. One of the 2 showers was missing a shower curtain
6. There were 4 parasol bases but only 1 parasol (a broken one was left by the side of the pool)
7. Trash floating in pool upon arrival
8. Picking up the keys was inconvenient particularly if you need to leave early to get to the airport and their office only opens at 8am! There's a locked box on the gate - why can't they use this?!
10.No welcome pack with phone numbers to call or how to use anything in the house etc. Very impersonal
- Keren (8/5): Villa Carmen Nerja - The pool was great and it was an easy walk into town. The views were amazing and it was in a quiet neighbourhood. The house was large with lots of spaces to sit in or out. The kitchen was stocked well with crockery, pots and pans. Some lamps didn't work and the beds were not that comfortable. There wasn't enough shade by the pool area. The shower holder in the en-suite was loose so the shower head was crooked.
- Kadri (8/5): Very good -
- Siriada (9/5): Superb -
- Leech (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elmars (10/5): Exceptional - Good secluded location with terrific view on sea and mountains, whilst being 5-10 min walk from nearest restaurant and 5 min drive from really nice seaside town center of - Nerja. The pool was well maintained and usable by our children despite the ~19 degrees weather during our visit. Wind at the poolside was the only reason we didn't hang out more by it, but it is possible to find sunny spaces protected from wind in this spacious property. All the necessary kitchen and utility facilities were in place and working properly. Response to the few request messages we had to hosts was prompt and adequate. Some of the bed mattresses could have been more comfy. Wi-fi signal was not good at the furthermost bedrooms, but was perfect at the places we hanged out the most, including outside the house.
- James (9/5): Overall excellent. Would definitely stay again - Big and spacious. With excellent views
Great pool Beds are not very comfortable
- Nick (9/5): Great holiday, beautiful villa - Villa was amazing, beautiful outdoor pool. Everything was clean and all good condition. Views of the sea and mountains were beautiful. Location was just outside Nerja and so most days involved taxis, albeit they were only €10 each way.
Picking up the keys was difficult. You have to collect them in Nerja. We arrived at 12 noon and couldn’t get in until 4pm. Whilst the hotel where you collect the keys stored our cases it wasn’t very convenient. Would have been more helpful to drop the cases at the Villa and collect the keys from the on-site lock box.
Kitchen could have been better equipped.
- Uwe (10/5): We felt very well and can highly recommend this place. Well kept! Great pool! - Great Villa with a fantastic patio and a great view. the pool is special and was kept very clean by stuff who came every few days for maintenance of the pool. Getting the key was very convenient and easy. The villa itself is very large and can host up to 8 persons (4 bedrooms). A little downside, but not a big deal is that there are only 2 bathrooms. We were only two people, so it was more than fine and this did not matter at all. Very large living room, large and nice dining room. Kitchen is okay and has everything one needs. Most time is spent on the large patio with the great view and in/beside the great pool. Taken together: great villa, next neighbors far, so nobody disturbs, great pool, great location with plenty of beaches near by. We travel a lot and can recommend this place. maybe a funny remark: I have yet to find a place where in the kitchen one finds a knife which can actually cut and does not pose a risk to the user. I ask myself til today why hosts do not invest a couple of euros for these small, but somewhat important items which are used several times a day to cut bread, cheese, salami and so on....
