• Susan (10/5): This is the place. - Comfortable beds, huge bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, great fish tacos, exceptional lattes, and an inspiring Pina Colada. Gio, the owner's dog, is old and going blind and deaf - a sweet fixture. It's a beautiful hotel in the best location, just a four minute walk from my house, which is in need of some repairs to become habitable, so I might have to extend my stay once again and adopt the staff as family. Worse things could happen. Oh, let me think...still thinking. There was a power outage in the neighborhood for about 90 minutes one night, which happens in Merida from time to time, and that was sort of a bummer, but I had an audio book downloaded, so it just became a cozy night in.

• Lea (10/5): Cosy, classy boutique hotel with much attention to detail, lovely food with customer first attitude. - I spent 3 weeks at Merida Santiago Hotel with a broken ankle. The staff were outstanding in attending to my condition and prioritising my comfort every day. The food, cooking classes and general atmosphere at this lovely establishment are fabulous. All set in the lovely and deeply historical rich subrb of Santiago. Thank you. Lasting memories.

The pool was great, the margaritas were delicious, the breakfasts were very good. My room was large and clean and comfortable. I can't wait to return.

• Heasook (8/5): Very good - The sink was so high that it was very inconvenient and drain was leaking and the bathroom floor became all wet. The room was large but somehow the furniture arrangement or lack of it made it not so attractive. Another hotel we stayed in the center of the town was so much better.

The restaurant provided delicious food and we ate breakfast and dinner on a couple of occasions. The staff are delightful. Great cocktails in the bar. It’s about a kilometre from the main plaza which takes about 20mins on foot so it may not be for everyone but we would definitely return . There are plenty of restaurants much closer.

• D&v (8/5): 20min from Center: Good Service, Notable Drawbacks - Convenient location in a quiet area, with a 20-minute walk to the city center. Staff provided excellent service, particularly during breakfast and with room maintenance. The hotel offers only street parking, with no private lot available. The room's outdoor seating is concerning, as the old deteriorating plastic chairs caused skin irritation from chemical exposure. During our stay, the nearby fiesta on December 30th created significant noise until 4 AM, making it impossible to sleep.

I had food there for breakfast multiple days and lunch, everything was very tasty and priced well. The location isn't the best, especially if you're not familiar with Merida. You may be questioning where you are being taken to at first. But don't let that sway you, Merida is very safe!

The staff were friendly, attentive, open, warm, and very helpful with directions, places to visit, arranging excursions. The food was wonderful, and they make a great margarita. They also offer some cooking classes and a tequila and mezcal tasting that was a lot of fun, and informative. In a quiet neighborhood, but close to interesting destinations around the city, and I and my friends like to walk.

From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with exceptional service and genuine warmth from the staff. Their helpfulness and friendliness truly made me feel like a valued guest throughout my entire stay. The restaurant served up some of the most delicious food I've ever tasted, with each dish crafted to perfection. The ambiance added to the dining experience, making every meal a delightful treat. The hotel itself was a beautiful and comfortable oasis, with tastefully decorated rooms and inviting common areas. The refreshing pool was a welcome retreat after a day of exploring, and the easy parking made coming and going a breeze. One of the highlights of my stay was the proximity to the center, allowing me to easily access all of Merida's historical tourist attractions. Plus, having the owner onsite added an extra layer of hospitality, as they were always available to offer friendly advice and assistance.

• Anonymous (7/5): Good - Small and quaint Not close to the Historic Center. A good 20+ walk! Breakfast starts at 7.30 am and people leaving early for the airport are given a sandwich that is made the night before! The air conditioner is underpowered for the size of the room.

• Robert (10/5): Wonderful visit - The service was beyond excellent. When we arrived we were shown to a beautiful room which, unfortunately, had no view. I commented on this to a staff member and was almost immediately met by one of the owners, Jan, who offered to move us to another room. This room was just as amazing as the previous room, but with a beautiful view of the pool and patio area. The rooms are very modern, clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel also offers a restaurant and bar and my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner and drinks while sitting in the beautiful patio area. The hotel is also within walking distance of many of the Merida attractions. I almost forgot to mention that Jan offered us so many great suggestions on what to see and where to eat. We took his advice and came away with a wonderful Merida experience. I cannot express in words how happy we were with our stay here and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
• Jesse (5/5): Would NOT recommend this place!! - The jacuzi tub was a delight to have. Dangerous, too inclined, outside stairs leading to second floor. Handrails are heated from HOT sun and unable to grasp. No elevator. Never any salt or pepper shakers/napkins on dining tables. Both broken front glass doors to room do NOT lock. Four of the six jacuzzi water jets are plugged. NO iron/ironing board in rooms. NO clocks and NO phones in rooms. Light bulb on make-up mirror in bath burned out. NO pen or paper pads in room to write with. Bartender does NOT know how to mix ANY mixed drinks. NO coffee table or work desk with chair to work laptop from. NO shelves to place clothes. Two lizards on the wall live in the room near mini-split a/c. Jacuzzi drain would not open. Live band yelling and screaming with microphone and LOUD speakers 30 feet from room until 3:00 a.m. !!! Complained to staff with NO results. Extra charge for toast bread at breakfast. NO bread or chips offered at meals. Located about one mile from town center square with pot holes in sidewalks, missing sidewalk concrete, missing street drain manholes, uneven sidewalks, all which make for dangerous walking. Had to change king bed room from second floor to first floor due to dangerous stairs and first floor room had two queen beds with no coffee table although staff stated the rooms were the same! Shall I continue? The hotel staff are the best! It's the hotel owners who do NOT have any hotel management training!!
• Revels (10/5): Great location, great service, great place! Loved having a pool! - We came to Merida for a concert, and can’t wait to come back! We loved the service! We loved the food! There was no need to figure out where to go to eat as the food at the hotel was amazing! We felt like we were at home! Very comfortable king sized bed & large spacious room and bathroom, with perfect little touches! Loved the retro espresso coffee maker in our room! It was terrific coffee and the little touch of the chocolate biscuits were nice. There is a small fridge in the room( which made it nice for her some leftovers & drinks that we brought.) also, there was a small safe. We loved the ambiance of the whole place! It was a beautiful stay! Nothing-Everything was pretty much perfect!
