Guest Reviews
- Elvire (10/5): Peaceful - Yusuf and his family have been very welcoming, warm and so helpful! They even drove us when we needed because we didn’t have a scooter. The food was delicious, Sukma is a great cook. There were kittens that were super cute. The atmosphere is great and peaceful.
Yusuf is a great guide and we recommend doing the tours and activities with him, he’s funny and friendly.
Gracias
- Margherita (10/5): Melong e Rizwan, migliori guide in assoluto! - Siamo state benissimo.
- Claudia (10/5): - The place is a typical Lombok house in the rice fields, its simple but very nice!
Melong, the guy that takes care of you is a crazy but super sweet guy that always takes you everywhere you want with a big smile.
It’s the quietest place you can find!!
Had dinner there and the food was incredible!!
- Agustina (10/5): -
- Famke (10/5): Paradise in the middle of a rice field! - Located in the middle of the rice field, this is the perfect place to relax. We felt so welcomed by Yusuf and his family, who cook the best meals at your request. The hut has everything you need: comfy bed, large private bathroom, and a beautiful terrace overlooking nature and Mount Rinjani. Opening your window in the morning and seeing the rice fields at your doorstep, what more could you want? We loved how peaceful and quiet the location was, away from all the tourists and in the middle of nature. There are some stores nearby, but recommended to rent a scooter if you plan on going places by yourself.
Definitely make sure to book a tour with the owner Yusuf, he is the best guide in Tetebatu! Showers were cold but that can be expected in such a remote location. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, because the mosque might wake you up.
- Kathrin (10/5): - Alles super sauber.
- Imke (8/5): Very good - What a lovely stay. The hosts were very nice! The area is amazing! It almost feels like camping, especially when it rains. It was so nice waking up in the rice fields with the rinjani view. It is quite far from the centre so a scooter is recommended.
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - Yusuf and his family are such great hosts and take very good care of you! Extraordinary experience in this beautiful area with almost no tourists.
- Maria (9/5): Good stay!! - Great location and place!
- Leo (9/5): Dream - You are literally surrounded by rice fields and it's just such an expereince. Also the bathroom on the ground floor is really well done and the bed (1st floor) is nothing special but it's all about the location and the fresh air and you'll sleep like a baby so amazing, absolute bargain as well
- Amy (9/5): Superb - Lovely food, staff, location. No hot water but nice room and view.
- Hibana (10/5): Ricefields oasis with great company & food - We had a wonderful time in the middle of the ricefields with Sukma, Ing, Yussuf and little Oskar! The bungalow was very comfortable, the food was delicious and the company was great! We will definitely come again! Matur tanpiasi toman! The mosque is very close by so it can be very loud, especially on Friday from morning to night, but it's part of the culture and therefore the experience!
- Jodie (1/5): Do not stay here if you are a solo female traveller! - Unfortunately my trip was ruined by the fact that the host, Yusup made me very uncomfortable. We had had a lovely day doing a great tour, however in the evening he got far too close and inappropriate for my liking and I felt unsafe and had to leave to another accommodation late at night (thank god I had my bike). He apologised after I displayed discomfort but then promptly asked when I would pay for the tour so clearly he wasn’t actually sorry he just wanted his money. There is no proper lock on your door so anyone could get in. Same for shower and bathroom, just a curtain. The room is pretty unclean also and I felt as though the sheets were not washed. It’s a shame as it could be a lovely place. I don’t mind having conditions not perfect to stay in but if you’re a female alone this is not the place for you.
- Jędrzej (10/5): Exceptional and unique experience - Yusup, the owner and his family are making this place an amazing experience. We checked in late and even though he invited us to sit with him and his family near the fireplace. He speaks very good English and also quite nice French. He told us stories. Really, we never had such an amazing welcome party in Indonesia. We will definitely come back here again. View from the house in the morning is great. Although I recommend taking earplugs (loud mosque speakers early morning) No hot water in the shower. But it wasn’t a problem really, they are just starting and they plan to do it in the future.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect hospitality. Take the tour with them and enjoy the local area (rice fields, waterfalls etc). So peacefull and almost no tourists. Beware that it is basic for western people but just enjoy the basics of life!!
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely place, beautiful room, and fantastic food. Plus a very cute cat! - Very nice, the food was great. Nothing special, we really enjoyed our stay.
- Karlis (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you for this experience! This is a place for you if you want to experience a real family vibe! You will be
taken care of! You will see from rice fields to waterfalls from mountain Rinjani to local villages! you will be sitting on the porch at nightime and looking at stars and enjoying the songs of crickets! I really appreaciate everything! Espeacially few nights sitting by bonfire and talking about life, listening music, having a drink, listening to friends singing songs and playing
guitar! It was so spiritual experience! I had not have this kind of experience in more than ten years!
I really appreaciate!Terima kasih!
Thank you Yusuf and friends for your kidness! I wish you many people visit New Rinjani Homestay and make new friends! I am looking forward to see you again!
Terima kasih!
- Lukas (10/5): Exceptional - The location is breathtaking, the accomodation is beautiful and cozy.
We felt welcome from the very first moment, everyone was friendly and helpful. The food delicious.
Yusuf helped us with everything, took us to beautiful places and sat with us by the fire in the evening.
Between rice fields, mount rinjani, a lovely young family and baby cats we fell in love with this place and would definitely come back.
Thank you so much!
- Frederick (10/5): Exceptional - The guys there were awesome. We did a rice field tour with Yusuf through the whole day, which was fun and informative and spend the night together at the bonfire. Felt like visiting friends!
- Corentin (10/5): Breathtaking and Cozy - Amazing view over the Rice fields. The people are so nice and welcoming, always at your service if you need anything. Bonefire at night and so many stories shared. Real friendship made !
- Will (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Great time with Yusuf - Its a very nice area and accommodation and Yusuf was the perfect guide. We spend a lot of time with him. He is very friendly always with the smile and he showed us so many things!
- Lucia (9/5): Superb - Stunning location! You will be surrounded by rice fields.
Hosts are super kind and always attentive.
We were so delighted that stayed longer than expected.
- Connor (4/5): Disappointing - The staff here are honestly amazing! We had such a good time with them singing and drinking, as well as eating delicious fruits that they picked for us! A truly rememberable experience. They also offered us a bonfire but it rained so it didn’t happen.
The bathroom was nice and the view from the room was good. The lack of cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. There was dirt on the mattress, sheets, pillows, the carpet, everywhere. It was as if the room had not been cleaned. See attached photos.
The hut itself wasn’t enclosed so lots of things came into the room on a night (which we could hear but not see, scary) and then in the morning there was animal poo on our bed and bags which is disgusting.
While and after staying here we got bed bug bites… there’s no certainty that we got them from here but due to the properties conditions it’s likely. We tried checking the mattress but it’s not actually a mattress, it’s more of a fleece/blanket thing on top of a box spring bed.
The property is in the middle of a rice field which was rather tricky to enter via bikes, but the owners helped us with that. However, it did feel like we couldn’t really leave the property as there was nothing nearby and hard to navigate with the hikes. The food you order there is from a restaurant nearby that guys will get for you, it tasted ok.
Another thing to mention is there is a mosque very close to the property, you can see it from the window, which was soooo loud between 4-5am.
It’s saddened us that we have to give this property such a poor review because the guys working there are lovely, but the room does not meet hygiene standards or match the price!. We hope that this review highlights the issues with the property to the owners as all previous reviews just complimented the staff.
- Righton (7/5): Good -
- Koning (7/5): Beautiful location, delicious food, but would nog recommend for (solo) women. - The location was beautiful! The food was delicious and the owner and his wife were really nice. The room and the bathroom were okay, but the most beautiful thing was the view from te balcony We (me and my friend) are two young girls and we did not feel really comfortable. One of the guys who works there was flirting way to much with me and calling me his darling. At first it was fine, because it seemed like a joke. But the next day he kept on going and even after i told him to stop multiple times he kept making comments about how beautiful i was. There was also another guy who insulted me, he said i looked like a boy because i have short hair and told me i would be prettier with long hair. I think it is not okay to treat your guests like this, even if you mean well.
- Sandy (10/5): The real Lombok style with amazing people - Sometimes you book an classical hostel or a guesthouse and sometimes it's a big beautiful surprise, like here. Here, this is not a classical homestay, it's very much more. Here you feel really at home with sooooo nice and friendly people. People from here are proud of them culture, history, lifestyle and are very happy to share it with you. I learned so much about the life in Lombok. It was an amazing stay and a very nice moment of sharing.
The room was nice, with a nice breakfast with coffee or tea whenever you want. And all of that right in the middle of an amazing rice fields. Absolutely nothing.
- Ahdrielle (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views of rice paddies and Mt Rinjani. Yusuf and staff were so nice and helpful. They took us to watch a traditional wedding procession when we arrived and our first night they set up a bonfire and we ate roasted cassava and drank rice wine together. We were able to organize renting a scooter which was helpful to go visit waterfalls and the monkey forest, as well as driving to shops in Central Tetebatu. Thank you for giving us such a warm welcome to Tetebatu! There is a mosque right next to this homestay so expect loud call to prayers.
- Michelangelo (9/5): Superb - Very nice place like in photo's, very nice staff
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - It was so beautiful. The area with the Rice terraces all around was great and the owner yussuf was very Kind and like family. We had fun at the bonfire and he always made me an extra pancake ❤️🥰 He helped me when i needed a scooter aswell. thank you for everything
- Yente (10/5): Exceptional - It was selfmade and it looked really beautiful! With a nice view over the ricefields and to the Rinjani. The place had everything we needed, a nice shower and a great bed. The staff was amazing and at night we were sitting at the campfire drinking rice wine and telling stories. We had a wonderful two days around the village with the staff helping us out with everything! Def recommened
- Agata (10/5): The best homestay I've ever been to. A beautiful place surrounded by rice fields, great breakfasts, bonfires in the -
