Guest Reviews
- Andrew (9/5): A lovely place to switch off and enjoy Suffolk. -

- Jeffrey (9/5): Great location near town - The location is excellent as it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre.
- Russell (9/5): -
- Jean (3/5): A good location but an uncomfortable room for two older ladies who had to share the bed. - The location of the property close to the town. The bed settee was in bad order and not included in the price. No comfortable chairs to relax in. No storage for clothes etc, a distinct lack of furniture.
- David (9/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay in this unique accommodation.
- César (9/5): -
- Adam (8/5): - The location was very close to the town centre. Easy enough to park in adjacent road.

- Debra (10/5): Fabulous 10/10 stay, exceptional place - Really lovely, quirky place to stay. Very helpful owners. Exceptionally clean, very quiet, amazingly comfortable bed, best 2 nights sleep of our 2 week trip. Everything needed to make our stay memorable. Would definitely stay again when we are back in the area. Handy pub just a couple of minutes walk away if you don’t want to cook for yourselves. Tesco store over the road. Nothing, it was perfect for visiting friends in Bury St Edmund’s.
- Lorraine (10/5): Good value for money & very pleasant owners - Walking distance to town centre and easy to get to by car & rail
- Diana (8/5): - There was no milk
- Anna (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): We would go back - It was a really nice place. Had everything we needed. Some low beams, but we were informed of them. Location was fine Nothing
- Stephanie (10/5): Excellent hosts. Great location. Well equipped. Comfortable & clean. - Duncan and Amanda were excellent hosts, available on WhatsApp to promptly answer any queries I had. They provided me with a helpful video ahead of my arrival. The spacious, well-thought-out Bunker was spotlessly clean and has its own interesting back story!
It is a 10-15 minute walk into central Bury St Edmunds and less than 5 minutes from the train station.
The hosts also kindly allow guests to use the washing machine - very handy during a longer stay.
I would stay here again and recommend to others too.

- Ricardo (10/5): Clean, comfortable and great value. Will use again - It was great value for money and really clean and well-equipped. Perfect for a short stay for our guest in Bury St Edmunds Nothing really, maybe just slightly hard to find but that's scraping the barrel
- Sarah (10/5): Very enjoyable and would stay here again. - It’s very quirky and had everything we needed. Easy short walk into the town.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - The actual apartment was exactly what was expected. Described perfectly from the cold War period. It's easy to remember the reasoning behind its construction.
Great facilities and laid out well Nice touches of coffee & tea included.
Duncan was a good contact and we found him to be very helpful.
As it was below ground the natural light was good and the temperature remained cool despite 28' outside..... Other than a tiny bit difficult to locate, although Duncan offered a WhatsApp video of how to find the bunker....there was nothing to dislike.
- James (10/5): Quiet and Relaxing. - Couldn’t fault the place, very quirky, beautifully clean, shower great, bed comfortable. Hosts very friendly, I come from this area so know Bury very well. Easy access to town and Tescos is a 5 mins walk for supplies. Great pub The Linden tree 5 mins walk and recently refurbed with a great garden. Some of the beams are low Im 6ft 3 and it wasn’t a problem. Will definitely be back when I need to stay in Bury. Thanks James.

Had everything you needed for a few nights away and if you wish to stay longer.
Very close to the train station, Tesco's and a 20 minute walk to town and the abbey.
Definitely recommend
- Lisa (10/5): Really great little break, nice place to stay. Definitely stay again. - Really lovely place to stay, hosts were really friendly and helpful. Everything we needed was provided in the apartment. Nothing.
- Julian (10/5): Tucked away & not far from the town centre. Beautifully presented, clean & comfortable. Will hopefully stay ther - Location
Very clean & comfortable
- Alan (9/5): Superb - Quirky but comfortable. May not be as suitable for very tall or stout people.
- Nathan (6/5): Pleasant - Lack of kitchen facilities
- Sally (10/5): Great little place - A quirky place to stay close to town centre. Just a 10 minute walk to the shops and amenities.
The bunker is ideal for a couple, compact but well presented with everything needed for a short stay. Nothing, perhaps just a tin opener!!
- Timothy (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): Pleasant Suffolk weekend break - A unique property, very spacious, very well equipped (e.g. fridge and microwave). Gracious host. Good base for exploring the area. Very comfortable bed. Parking was a little awkward, but I managed.
- Sgtroo (8/5): If you want a stay with a difference, try this. - The place is quirky due to its history. Never stayed anywhere quite like it. It has everything you could want. Comfortable bed, hot water , shower, fridge/freezer, kettle, microwave, utensils, etc. was warm and snug and very quiet. Is set out of the way and by its very nature is unique. The owners are close by and available if needed but not intrusive.
- Rachael (8/5): Great find and good location - it was so central to Bury and a great location and a great find. It was all good
- Huw (8/5): Perfect for a short break or the Apocalypse! - Warm, comfortable space; a fabulous little hidey-hole away from the outside World. Nice and quiet, with good beds and extra-warm, fluffy blankets should you want them!
★ Warm and snug.
★ Spotlessly clean and fresh.
★ Peaceful and secluded.
★ Inspired use of an interesting space.
★ Very comfortable beds.
★ Short walk from the Town centre (do walk, there are many little things to see around BStE that you'd miss in a car).
★ 2 mins from a Tesco, should you need anything.
★ Nuke-proof. ★ Possibly not for you if, like me, you're over 6ft as low ceilings caused for the odd bump on the head or two.
★ Water pressure in shower could be better, but it's a good, clean, hot shower so that's just nit-picking.
★ The Lights are either on or off. Despite a partition, there's no way to light the Kitchenette without also lighting the sleeping area. There is a switch to control the Kitchenette lighting, but appears non-functional.
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): My second stay here for work. Lovely homely feel and everything I need for a stress free stay - Cosy and warm space within easy walk of the town centre
