- Saima (10/5): An amazing stay with a lovely, welcoming couple—we would definitely come back again. - We had a really wonderful stay. The property was beautiful, very clean, and well-maintained. James and Lawri were incredibly kind and supportive throughout our stay; they went above and beyond to help us and made us feel very welcome. Their hospitality truly made a difference, and we really appreciated their personal care and attention. Nothing at all, everything was excellent and exceeded our expectations.
- john (10/5): Great place to stay - Comfortable charming accommodation in a great location Could do with electric charge point for car

- Angie (10/5): - Lovely hosts! Communication was brilliant. Barn was perfect size for us and had everything we needed with Abergavenny only a few miles away. Parking easily fitted our 2 medium sized cars.
- Kelly (9/5): Fabulous views, hosts that couldn’t do enough to help. Even lent me a cardigan for the wedding we were going to! Lovely - Beautiful views, stunning location. Everything you need. Stairs from the bedroom down - difficult for children. Sofa wasn’t very comfy to sit on to unwind and watch tv as it was a futon sofa bed.

- Carolyn (10/5): Beautiful accommodation and excellent service – would thoroughly recommend. - There was plenty of parking on site, and the property was beautiful! There were facilities to wash clothes and keep muddy boots and outerwear tidy downstairs from the main apartment and an extra, separate toilet which came in very handy as there were four of us. The beds were extremely comfortable and there was no light pollution if you’re interested in looking at the stars. The property is very rural and quiet with great views, and really handy for lots of castles and other interesting things to visit.
We accidentally left something behind and they very kindly posted it back to us. We had a great time and couldn’t recommend this place more. I can’t think of anything.
- Kay (8/5): The property met our needs while visiting the area for a wedding. - Location was excellent for our needs. Hosts were welcoming and very accommodating. Views were brilliant. Welsh cakes, tea and coffee left by the hosts for us was a nice touch.

- Hyulia (10/5): Absolutely delightful! Recommend visiting - I loved how comfortable and well-designed the property is—it has everything needed for a short or extended stay. The location is in a beautiful village with scenic views that makes it even more special. The hosts were absolutely delightful, very welcoming. They helped us out with the grocery delivery we ordered to the place whilst we were out. It was absolutely generous to drive us to church on Christmas Day, and offered us to drive us back to town when we left. Also they were very helpful with local recommendations. Nothing to dislike at all, everything was lovely. Perhaps just a small suggestion that a kitchen hood would be useful.
- Sally (10/5): - Lovely, cosy barn conversion. Need to take care on Penbidwal lane in the rain.
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Very comfortable and well designed. Very well equipped kitchen soaps, toys. Hospitable hosts. Outside space. I guess I wouldn't recommend the stairs for older people who are risk of falling
- Janet (10/5): Beautiful accommodation in an ideal setting. - Comfort was everything - cozy, gorgeous bedding, plenty of tea and a treat of Welsh cakes greeted us. The hosts were really helpful and offered advice for local walks. Would definitely stay again.
- Amir (10/5): - Impressed by the quality of renovation, guest care, cleaneness and location
- Liz (10/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing and time to spend with my daughter. - It was spacious with everything we needed. It was convenient for Abergavenny and other things we wanted to do. Nothing.
- Edward (9/5): Well equipped accommodations in a country location with great views - Quiet, with great views. Spacious living area. Narrow lane approach, tricky stairs inside.

- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, has everything you need - good location in that its easy to get to, but still out the way enough to be peaceful.
Everything was clean and you cant beat the value. No complaints
- Kate (10/5): Unique stay in a stunning location. - The barn was so quirky and gorgeous. Exceeded expectations. Everything we could need and more.
Stunning views. Care taken to make sure we happy and settled. Very welcoming and friendly hosts who love what they do and where they live. And left a delicious treat for us too (thank you!)
Travelling with a toddler and they had cot set up for us, a high chair and a selection of baby toys. Stair gate is always there too. Felt safe for him.
Also was able to use the washing machine after an unexpected disaster. Easy instructions and everything you need. Thank you.
Very peaceful and quiet.
Also very chatty and friendly George (the white cat) kept an eye on our comings and goings. Liked everything. Nothing negative to say.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful location, very peaceful and quiet. Beautiful and unique barn with plenty of space and facilities. Plenty of nearby hiking routes.
I especially loved meeting George, the resident cat who was very friendly and sweet. I would definitely come back here again. Nothing to dislike!
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Thoughtful lightling arrangements
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Lovely view, quiet and comfortable. We missed not having salt and pepper for seasoning when we self-catered some nights. But there was nothing not to like - we loved it!
- Leah (8/5): Enjoyed our stay here! - Lovely, spacious and clean property.
Had all the facilities needed, lovely views out all the windows.
Very friendly owners too!
Thankyou Both mattresses need replacing
- Sally (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (10/5): really lovely place - The place was fantastic, hosts were amazing and the location so peaceful
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good - Like the views .It was central to where we was going to a family wedding. Not suitable for elderly because of the stairs also could of done with a hand rail in shower
- Atterton (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely location, unique design with everything you could need for your stay. Beautiful views and a bonus to have outdoor seating areas.
- Emma (10/5): Fabulous stay, perfect location for what me and my friend were there for - hiking! House was clean. - Friendly host who greeted us on arrival. Great location for walks
The house had everything we needed and was kept clean and tidy
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Rashael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect for two couples to meet up, have a wander about then share a meal and a bottle of wine. - Lovely hosts with a sense of humour. Perfect situation, close to those we were visiting and to Skirrid for a wonderful climb with brilliant views as a reward. Local walks which the host will advise you about, just make a cup of tea. Full cooker and a washing machine. Roomy shower. Amazing dark sky to star gaze. Plenty of games available. Easy trip
in to Abergavenny and its fab market. Not a problem for us but beware the paddle stairs if you are a bit wobbly on your feet.
- Jodie (8/5): Beautiful property in beautiful surroundings - Beautiful property with amazing views.
The couple who owns the property were lovely and provided everything in the accommodation that you could need. I don’t really have any complaints about our stay but the only thing I didn’t realise was that it was not as easy as I thought to access the garden. You have to exit the property via stairs and then there are some stairs leading up to the garden. I have quite bad arthritis so that was a bit of an issue for me personally but for someone else I’m sure it would be fine. I guess I just didn’t get to use it as much as I would have liked (for breakfast, glass of wine in the evening etc.)
Other than that everything was perfect.
- Ania (10/5): We loved our stay at Barnfield and would highly recommend it. Thank you Lowri and James for a relaxing and quiet stay - - Beautifully situated in a lovely tranquil area with panoramic views.
The dining/lounge area has dual aspects windows making it light, airy and spacious. All our cooking needs were catered for and the beds were very comfortable.
Lowri and James were super friendly hosts and were on hand if we needed anything. Very welcoming.
- Serena (9/5): A perfect little gem with a restful peaceful stay - The location was perfect
Amazing views and so quiet
The hosts were so kind and helpful
Comfy beds and plenty of facilities so could cook whatever wanted and when. Plenty of board games. Wifi was great .I would definitely recommend this place and hope to stay again The steps to the upstairs bedrooms were abit steep.and unusual which took.a little getting used too but it wasn't problem
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (9/5): Great little base for a few days. - Great location for us. Just off the Offa’s dyke path.
Lovely walks around the area. Perfect with a newborn but clearly very set up for children. Lowri and James very helpful with walk suggestions but also some cracking ones on OS maps app. Nothing! Upstairs room was a little steep but nothing unmanageable.
No dishwasher which is a downside.
- Ralucile22 (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about it was absolutely delightful. The location, the place itself, how comfortable and cosy it all felt. It had everything you can possibly want/need to have a great weekend at the bike parks and then clean yourself, your clothes and the bikes and have a nice evening watching Netflix while eating something we cooked in the kitchen well equipped. We will defo go back! Highly recommended!!! N/A
- Karolina (10/5): Lovely place with a lot of character - Lovely place to stay in, had everything we needed, very clean, and had more than enough space for out family. Beautiful view. Nicely situated. Lovely, helpful hosts. We would love to return one day and stay for a bit longer!

There's is so much to do in the area. Castles to visit. Mountains to climb and the four falls trail is just spectacular 👌 100% going back in the summer
- Zaheer (10/5): Perfect Holiday Let - We loved everything about our stay at Barnfield. We were welcomed by the host Lowrie. She was really friendly and helpful.
Prior to coming, communication was great, as we had to reschedule due to the snow. It was easily done, no hassle.
The holiday home was clean, warm and overall just lovely. Felt like home away from home.
So many extras, including the use of washing machine/dryer, towels, some toiletries etc...
Just a fantastic holiday let in a beautiful part of Wales. Will stay again if we're visiting the area in the future.
Thank you from Zara & Zaheer 😊 We loved everything!
- Morag (9/5): Superb - Quite and views of the surrounding farmland .

Everything was clean, comfortable and very homey! We absolutely loved the top bedroom with the sky view from the bed as we had a clear night and could clearly see the stars in the sky, it was truly beautiful.
Lowri & James are fabulous hosts, the best we have encountered so far! Very helpful and on hand if needed. They also put up balloons and banners for us for our anniversary which was the purpose of our trip, they’re a genuinely lovely couple.
We will absolutely be back! Nothing, everything was just as we had hoped.
- Ini (10/5): Beautiful views, a kind host who went above and beyond, and impeccably clean rooms. - Title: A Wonderful Stay with Breathtaking Views!
I recently stayed at this lovely property in Wales, and I can't recommend it enough! The views were absolutely stunning, providing a perfect backdrop to our getaway. The host was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make our stay special. I even forgot my coat, and she graciously offered me one of hers—such a thoughtful gesture!
The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, making for a very comfortable stay. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat with a welcoming host and breathtaking scenery, this is the place to be. I can't wait to return!

- Belinda (9/5): Great place to stretch out and spend a few days. - Loved that it was a whole apartment. Plenty of space for 2 people. Could cook our own meals and a separate laundry where we could sod our washing. Wonderful views of the mountain and garden. Only one short set of stairs to bring our bags up. Underfloor heating was fabulous! Could do with a new set of pots and pans. Plus need a set of food tongs. There was another bedroom up some very steep stairs - glad we didn't need to sleep there. The other bedroom was on the same level as the kitchen.
- Allison (10/5): Excellent -
- Laurie (7/5): Good - Hosts were very pleasant. Amenities were adequate and property was pretty. Beds were too small for us and the furnishings were fair.
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Lowri and James are lovely-really kind and helpful. The barn has everything you need and the beds are SO comfortable. They've thought of all the little extras that make a stay easy and pleasant-fully equipped kitchen, toiletries, spices, tea and coffee. Lovely garden and views of Skirrid Fawr from both bedrooms and the living room. We loved listening to the tawny owl and seeing the stars through the skylight. Great walks and the Offa's Dyke close by. Nothing, really lovely place and they really have thought of everything.
- Costin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (10/5): A very relaxing break in a lovely property in a fantastic area of Wales. - The property was lovely and the setting and views were exceptional. Everything we needed for a simple relaxing stay was provided. Nothing.

- Kirstie (10/5): Mountainside haven with the very best of Welsh hospitality! - Everything!
Wonderful place in such a beautiful setting with awesome hosts - what more can you ask for?
The accomodation is beautiful and pristine - you can feel the love and care and warmth that has gone into its making and upkeep, and it is in the most wonderful setting.
There are incredible walks from the cottage and the hosts local knowledge helped us see the best of the very best!
It is a bird lover's haven - as a taster we saw baby tawny owl, dipper, black cap, yellow hammer, meadow pippit, cuckoo, peregrine, buzzard, red kite ...
We did two walks recommended by James and Lowri with spectacular scenery, fabulous flora and then back to the comfort of the cottage with its wonderful views, lovely garden, resident house martins and George the cat.
This place is absolutely heavenly and a huge thank you to Lowri and James for making it even more special with their welcome and advice. We loved absolutely everything!
- Nathan (10/5): Perfect - Great location for visiting the wye valley, bracon beacons and the Forest of Dean.
Comfortable, warm, stylish accommodation suitable for couples and though with a few kids.
Has a kitchen with cooker, fridge, freezer. So can prep meals as you wish and a laundry room. Smart tv so you can watch Netflix or Disney and a few board games . Friendly hosts too!
Tip, for a breakfast out try the Cwtch Cafe in Abergavenny for lava bread and a traditional Welsh breakfast.
Tip, the Anatolian Restaurant, Abergavenny. The best Turkish restaurant I’ve ever been too. Great food, friendly attentive staff and fast service.
Tip, pop to Hopes of Longtown to stock up in this quaint village shop less that 15 minutes drive away. Not a negative just please be aware…
The roads leading up to the property are very narrow, one car at a time, with minimal passing places, please take care at all times and definitely in winter, if you come via the main road to the west of the property you will miss most of this road, but miss the stunning view!
Also the steps up to the top bedroom are very small and not a usual design, I’d say only for children or adults very sure on their feet.
- Miles (9/5): Great stay -
- Jenny (10/5): Lovely spot with welcoming hosts - Beautiful space - two good sized comfortable bedrooms and just enough living space. Well equipped kitchen, stash of board games. Amazing views (and they even organised sunshine.) It was great. Should be aware that you drive up a steep and narrow hill, and there are quite a lot of stairs.
- Gillgrass (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Harries (10/5): Awesome - Everything Nothing
- Pieri (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, nice and warm and cosy

- X_jh_x (10/5): What a lovely place to stay. Will certainly be booking again for another stay. Beautifully and creatively done. Lovely h - Cute little renovation. Lovely couple Lowri and James was very helpful with information regarding how to get to our destination. Exceptional customer service and due to the standards of cleanliness very recommended. Over all we was satisfied with our stay here and would recommend anybody looking for a place to book, prefect for a weekend break. Suitable for both couples, families, and even for a friends get away. Overall satisfied with this property.
