Guest Reviews
- Veronica (1/5): Overpriced and misrepresented - The location and the views are great Gracie’s Grotto Cabin was advertised as a “whole chalet” with a living room and separate bedroom, plus breakfast included. What we found was a space barely big enough to fit two people, a pit toilet, a shower that looked put together rather haphazardly, and the linens in the loft bed were questionable. The access to said loft was through a rather flimsy ladder not even secured against it so getting up and down was an ordeal. No breakfast was provided either.
The staff were friendly and nice, but we cut our stay short to one night because it wasn’t what we had expected and the space was so uncomfortable. Overall, it was very overpriced for what it actually was.
- E (4/5): Wish I’d stayed elsewhere. - Location & view Though the cabin is only a year old, it feels quite dated/musty. The construction of the cabin was questionable - water from the shower builds up under the bathroom floor and splashes up as you walk. The rungs on the ladder to the loft were insufficiently secured. The light switch in the loft didn’t work, etc etc. Felt cobbled together.
It felt more rustic than camping, and was over priced.
- Jutta (6/5): Sehr aussergewöhnlich - Die ruhige Lage Minimalistisches Ambiente, kein Spiegel, gefährliche Leiter zum Bett
- Olena15 (5/5): - The restaurant was nice; the view was good. Shower is not sealed at all, when you take a shower, the water goes under the laminate floor and you feel the water below the floor, which means there is mold there. No mosquito nets on windows, so how can you open them at night? The cabin looks cozy, but is very small and has shoddy work all around. Overpriced for the value.

- Jan (10/5): - Location and staff was excellent
- Brianne (7/5): Would have love to been able to try the restaurant but it was closed for our stay. We ended up staying in the Bratty Cab - Loved the outdoor space and the balcony. As well as it was dog friendly. The ocean/ beach is close by. The bathroom facilities, but was expected to.
- Gail (10/5): Scott is a full participating owner who bends over backwards to please his patrons. His staff appreciates him and his wi - Owners and setting were wonderful. The restaurant food and view couldn’t be better. All was good
- Robinson (6/5): - There was no breakfast as advertised Breakfast would have been nice!
- Catherine (1/5): Bait and switch; hostile owner; inaccurate property description; avoid - This cabin appears to be a bait and switch. It’s not currently habitable and the owner seems to accept bookings for this inhabitable cabin with the plan of “upgrading” guests to other accommodations on the property. Reviews posted here appear to be for the larger a-frame cabins he typically upgrades guests to when they book Gracie’s Grotto. Even if it were operational, the Gracie’s Grotto cabin is nothing like what is pictured and is too small for two adults. In our case, when we booked Gracie’s Grotto and it was not habitable when we arrived, he relocated us to his basement, a dark and semi-clean space attached to his personal home from which we could hear him above. Then, we returned from an outing to find all of our belongings completely gone and a cat in the basement. We called the owner multiple times and received no response. Looking in the windows of other cabins we finally found our belongings; he had moved our open bags, toothbrushes, private items, etc to another cabin himself. When the owner returned, we expressed our shock and he became hostile. He stated he would refund us but has said the refund has been processing for almost 2 weeks now. Avoid at all costs.
- Roderick (9/5): Wonderful setting and a delightfully quirky cabin.staff were so welcoming and helpful and delivered a delicious breakfas - Quirky but lovely , setting was so stunning and very quiet. Very clean and quite unique but although small was very well equipped and a delight to stay in. Sadly we were too late to try the adjacent restaurant but looked lovely and menu looked very inviting. Nothing
- Asiri (9/5): Very relaxing and it was fun 😊 - Great location very close to a small beach and campground. Also it’s very next to a great restaurant that runs by the same owners.

- Ernst (10/5): Verrassend en ruim huisje op een prachtige plek. - Een verrassend en stijlvol ruim huisje op een mooie locatie. We hadden zo onze twijfels over de schoonheid van het beddengoed!
- Jorgen (10/5): Scott was a super host very helpful with info about the area - wonderful view and the best restaurant in the area
- Maisy (5/5): Not what we were expecting unfortunately - I can’t say what this cabin was like as it is not ready to be stayed in yet. Even though we booked it on Booking.com, when we arrived they told us they weren’t finished building it. The cabin we stayed in, a small A frame was decorated very nicely. Had a king size bed and a TV. The cabin was very clean. First of all, we did not like that we weren’t informed that the cabin we wanted to stay in wasn’t available. We were looking forward to staying in a tiny home as we haven’t been in one before, and may have considered cancelling due to this. The cabin we did stay in was very small, if you are a taller person you would find it very awkward to move around, or even someone with mobility issues would find it a challenge. Great that there was a king size bed, but it left hardly any room in the cabin. The windows did not open, which in turn made it feel like a sauna, as the cabin is made out of cedar., they did have a fan which helped a bit but not till later in the late evening after the sun had went down and it cooled off. There were no blinds, so people could see inside the cabin while you were lying in bed. The window in the bathroom was frosted on the bottom half, so when you got out of the shower or standing at the bathroom sink, people driving by could see you, as well as there is a house aways away that could easily have binoculars to see you. There is a compost toilet, not a huge deal I guess, but it should be advertised on the website. There was no door knob on the bathroom door and even though there was a key for the front door, we couldn’t get it to lock. The grounds were not very well kept. We love Powell River and Lund and have always enjoyed our visit to this area, but unfortunately our stay wasn’t as great this time due to our accommodations.
If— there were windows that opened and blinds to block out the sun so it wasn’t so!!!! hot, that would have definitely made things somewhat better. They also said on their website they offered a continental breakfast, but we were not told about this and didn’t see anything that would seem to be such a thing
