• Johanna (3/5): Nie wieder - Nur die Lage und der Holzboden in den Zimmern, sonst nichts Mit Abstand die schlechteste und schmuddeligste Unterkunft, die wir in den letzten 3 Monaten hatten. Wir waren in anderen Hostels zum gleichen Preis, die bei weitem nicht so ungepflegt und lieblos waren wie das hier. Schwarzer Schimmel im Bad, total verdreckte Toilette, überall Flecken an Wänden und Decken. Kaum Wasser aus der Dusche, zeitweise gar kein Wasser im Bad. Ganz dünne eingezogene Fertigteiltrennwände um möglichst viele „Verschläge“ in das Gebäude zu bekommen ohne Fenster nach draußen. Total hellhörig. Überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert!

• Brian (5/5): Sehr einfache Unterkunft - Gut gelegen, bemühtes Personal Einrichtung recht herunter gekommen, Hygienebereich zu klein und leider nicht sehr sauber. Zum selben Preis bietet Malakka Unterkünfte, die mehr auf Sauberkeit und Hygiene achten.

• Hermes (5/5): Camera trasandata e ambienti poco puliti - Posizione comoda vicino al centro, ma fuori dal suo caos. L'aria condizionata funzionava Struttura sporca, camera trasandata, spoglia e senza la minima cura.
• Alba Aguilera Diaz (7/5): - La ubicación era excelente, a 5 minutos escasos del centro andando. El anfitrión fue amable, nos guardó las mochilas sin ningún problema, respetó que tuviéramos que hacer un chek-in pronto sin coste extra y nos acompañó hasta la habitación. La habitación era básica pero muy correcta, tanto la cama como la limpieza. Es muy económico.Justo enfrente hay una cafetería gestionada por una pareja hindú muy amables y riquísima. Las paredes eran prácticamente de papel, no es culpa de los anfitriones, pero los ruidos nocturnos fueron insoportables, algunos huéspedes discutían y corrían por los pasillos a altas horas de la madrugada. No había ventanas en las zonas comunes, por tanto, también oíamos a las personas de la calle, que es bastante ruidosa. No pudimos dormir.

• Solea (8/5): Acceptable - Very cheap and very good location! Overall okay for a short stay. I mean, you can't argue for this price. Had to check out earlier than the declared time 😕 as new guests were coming and we had to leave.... The fan's can use a little cleaning, as they produce a weird smell when turned on, it was better to sweat and keep it off than stay in that smell. You can hear everything, and if it's raining.... there's buckets on the corridor collecting rain water through the damaged ceiling.

• Ajay (8/5): Great Location and Hospitality, But Poor Toilet Facilities - An ideal location for those looking to explore Malacca. The host was very welcoming. Though the room was small, it was clean, with comfortable beds and fresh bedsheets. The facilities and cleanliness of the toilets were extremely poor. Also expect to pay 3 MYR per day as heritage fees.

The "walls" (plastic panels) are very thin and if other guests switch on their air con or use the fan the whole place shakes and it's very noisy. I used ear plugs every night. I would still recommend the place cause I was very satisfied with my room.

There are two options: You will pay double the price and stay in a better place. Or, with this money, you will stay in a better place away from the center and take the risk of walking 1-2 km. The second option is more logical for those who do not have any physical disabilities...The owner and staff are excellent, good people. It is possible to have a good dialogue. But this does not improve the physical condition and facilities of the building. air conditioners are almost as noisy as a train locomotive powered by a steam boiler... A windowless room makes you feel like you are in a morgue. Noise from the corridor and neighboring rooms cannot be prevented. The floor is shaky wood and the room partitions are as poorly insulated as corrugated cardboard.

Location The location is very strategic, situated near the Malacca city centre. This makes exploring nearby attractions and landmarks convenient without spending too much time commuting. Room The room was acceptable for the price paid. It’s simple and functional, meeting the basic needs of a traveller on a budget. While it’s not luxurious, it aligns perfectly with what you’d expect for the low cost. Breakfast Options One of the highlights was the convenience of having breakfast just around the corner. I highly recommend checking out Restaurant BABA KAYA - One Malaysian Cuisine for a delicious and authentic start to your day. Final Thoughts Discovery Youth Hostel is a good option if you're looking for a no-frills, budget-friendly place to stay in Malacca with a convenient location. It's perfect for travellers who prioritize affordability and location over luxury. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Room I initially booked a room with a double single bed, but upon check-in, I was given a room with a queen-size bed instead. While it wasn’t what I had originally requested, it didn’t affect my stay too much, as the room was still acceptable for the price paid. The space was simple and functional, meeting the basic needs of a traveller on a budget.
