Guest Reviews
- Angela (6/5): - Excellent views over the river. Very comfy bed. And good location. very noisy room directly over the beer garden.
- dollinger (8/5): Gute Unterkunft in einem schönen alten Gebäude - anspruchsvoll renoviert. -
- Francis (8/5): Alright in end. - Friendly staff. Good food alfresco due to warm weather. Nice position by the river The room we were given on the hottest day of the year was too hot. Even the heating was on and windows would hardly open. Fortunately we were put into a cooler room but still needed a fan. After paying a high price for carpark outside we were told of a cheaper LT one down the road which we used the next day.
If another room had not been found we would have had to stay in another hotel.
- Andrew (9/5): Perfect location. Large rooms - Perfect location, large rooms Think a fridge in the rooms would be a good idea. We stayed on a warm night and would have been nice to have cold water. Not a complaint just a suggestion 👍
- Peter (7/5): -
- Sarah (3/5): - Good location It wasn’t clean, massively overpriced for what it is and parking was a didn’t faff.
- Liz (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Gorgeous old building with lots of character. Modern facilities and friendly staff Car parking - it could do with some dedicated car parking
- Paul (8/5): Enjoyable stay at great location - Location is fantastic next to the Great Ouse and Customs House. I took the continental breakfast, like no other, fresh fruit, smoked meat and salmon, hot sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs. Also ate in the dining room excellent meal.
Room had and excellent view of the river. Staff were pleasant. No USB socket for phone.
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Matthew (6/5): Bank house for coffee not breakfast or late bar - location and exit parking is always an issue, so parked by the dock. this was the best breakfast in Kings Lynn, now continental only. the bed tilted towards the middle of the room and the shower room has a low door. stay if under 5ft 8ins.
- Martin (9/5): Great stay in an elegant setting - Wonderful location on the quayside of the old town in King's Lynn. Pleasant and helpful staff. Charming room and comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast with excellent ingredients. Nothing
- David (6/5): -
- David (8/5): Great location and excellent restaurant with comfortable rooms - Great location and excellent restaurant food.
- Philip (9/5): I really liked it there. - The location, the style and the restaurant. It was not well insulated but understandable being a very old building.
- david (8/5): -
- ANNA (8/5): Will remember the Bank House as an excellent location to explore Kings Lynnfrom - The location, view
Access to public transport
Friendly staff Shower and its curtain a bit outdated as the shower head was fixed and pointing out of the shower, water could escape
Fan needs cleaning
Breakfast somewhat inconsistent, juice on some days, only bacon, sausage available as cooked.
Eggs on request.
It felt sinewhat measured, we had to ask, however, at start we were told that we could have a full English breakfast after 10am which seems rather odd, late fie m8st guests.
- Ai (8/5): Would stay again...Probably - Room was quiet, large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The reception area was nice and tidy, the folk working behind the desk were always friendly, and the location was excellent. Exiting directly onto the river, and all of Kings Lynn (and Norfolk, for a ten minute walk to the station!) is accessible. Really close also to the West Lynn Ferry. I forgot to put out the DND sign before I went out on the first day and the cleaner closed one of the windows, which I could no longer open, which was frustrating. Also on day two I went for breakfast and the person helping out decided to flip my toast up on high and it came out way darker than I ever like to eat toast. This was really annoying and I didn't want to toast more and waste some. They also forgot my coffee, and I felt like a fool having to ask again.

- Jennifer (8/5): A pleasant stay in a good location with helpful and friendlystaff. - Very good location. Comfortable room and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The menu in the bistro restaurant is varied and tasty. The continental breakfast is a bit minimal and needs to include a few additions.
- Matt (10/5): -
- Abigail (7/5): Lovely hotel. However the room didn’t come with half of the services stated - The character of the property The parking

- Jon (10/5): The Only Hotel in Kings Lynn with Rooms that have Views like these! ❤️ -
- Linda (5/5): Not worth the money - The location was exactly what we needed and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. The check-in was perfunctory and it appeared that the hotel wasn't really ready for guests, with untidy heaps of old furniture piled up outside and in the public rooms and workmen everywhere. The room was chilly which didn't make the most welcoming impression and the bathroom seemed makeshift and in urgent need of a refresh. Breakfast the following morning was really mediocre - we were informed that the chef didn't arrive until 10am ... did we want to wait (it was 9 o'clock) There was a limited selection of cereals and a few slices of cold meat and a bit of fruit on offer. I discovered a few bits of dried up bacon and four lukewarm sausages in a dish. (there were six guests in for breakfast when we were there) We were offered eggs by a staff member (who looked more like he was helping with the maintenance work than serving in the restaurant) - I didn't bother but my husband asked for two fried eggs which were slow to arrive and poorly cooked. There were a few pieces of ready-sliced packet bread on offer to make toast - which might have been ok if the toaster was effective - but no rolls, bagels, pastries or anything of the sort available. (I did ask and received a blank look)
- Jon (9/5): Hotels are everywhere, feeling at home isn’t. Thats the #teambankhouse difference. - Slow down and Settle in The Bank House.
Its calm, comfort, and consistent
So much so, availability often decides the journey. That my visit wasn’t longer.

- Roy (9/5): -
- Jürgen (8/5): -
- Kelly (8/5): - Comfy beds. Shower weak.
- Jon (8/5): Keep your eyes open, Spring has been sprung at the Bank House. With some welcome updates Menus - Drinks and DJ’s updates - Breakfast at the Bank House = Choice.
Exceptional & experienced team players, greet clientele with genuine smiles, a nod and yes we can do attitude. Not a Loyalty Card in sight!
- N. As (9/5): Charming historical hotel in Kings Lynn - Location, clean, comfortable bed, room size and it doesn't smell weird, reasonable price, keep the old building alive I guess just a little improvement on the shower, the water pressure can be a bit better and a bit more amenities
- Gardener (8/5): -
- Sally (8/5): Comfortable hotel in centre of historic Kings Lynn - Room was very clean and comfortable, overlooking the quay running up to the Custom House, and it was quiet at night. The bathroom had modern fittings and everything you needed. We had shared tapas for our evening meal which was delicious. It is very convenient for the centre of town if you were attending a show or event. Parking is an issue, which the website was up front about, a long walk with a suitcase if you find walking difficult and a nuisance if you forget something in your car.
Blackout blinds would have been our preference, to cut out the street lighting. The radiators had been turned off on our arrival and we had to move furniture to turn the thermostats up, as the room was cold. An open bottle of water was left over from the previous guests.
Not a huge choice of breakfast foods, probably due to small number of guests staying, no fruit juice offered and we had to go and find someone to take our hot food order.
With a few tweaks this would have earned excellent scores all round.

- Egle (1/5): -
- Nadezhda (9/5): - Everything was lovely and good, the room, the breakfast, the location, it is beautiful
- Cunningham (10/5): -
- Oliver (9/5): A nice little R&R - A great return visit, always welcomed.
Great food, gin and a nights sleep!
- Harradine (5/5): Ok - It was very warm! Bathroom needs updating.
Breakfast was very poor, no full English available with the breakfast included as advertised.
- CHRIS (6/5): Good in parts. - The position overlooking the old harbour and river. The helpfulness of the staff. The fact that the restaurant is open every evening. The parking.Last time we stayed ,we ended up being fined .This time the pay and display refused to accept cash and the parking app wouldn’t download onto neither my phone nor my tablet.Eventually the hotel reception helped with the download of the parking app, but only upon accessing the hotels wi-fi.Why can’t the hotel provide some off street parking or come to some arrangement with the council ?
The breakfast was poor.Poor choice, poor quality (Homepride white bread for toast) and only some sausage and bacon as the hot part of the meal.At 10am the hotel provides a proper breakfast choice for outside visitors but this isn’t available to people staying at the hotel. There was also no hot food for vegetarians.

- RAYMOND (9/5): I have stayed previously, and still great standard and place to be. - I had an early start , had to leave for a business meeting, so had only a very simple breakfast, but was aware of the 'spread' availability of more, so next time. The seagulls were looking after their young, so very noisy most of the night! But that's the difference between City and Seaside, so ok.
- Mike (4/5): Disappointed - The only savings grace was the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. However, the place needs proper managing and some refurbishment. Too many issues...
1. Only parking is on parking meters
2. Initial room I was allocated was a nice room but stank of marijuana. We were offered another room but it was not as good and had no shower.
3 the bath in the new room ran ice cold after a while.
4. The phone has no option to call reception (I had to keep going up and down the 3 floors to report problems.)
5. Although I had purchased a 'good breakfast '. The first thing I was told on sitting down was there was no option of a full English unless I waited until 10am and paid extra. After complaining we were given the option of a proper breakfast.
6. Carpets were dirty in the hallway and in our room nailed down with exposed nails.
7. The place desperately needs refurbishment.

- Erik (10/5): Great - Lovely Nothing
- Geeuwke (7/5): - Beautiful location with a great view on the river and docks. Amenities where ample, yes we where there on Christmas day. reception bar and restaurant was closed. which was to be expected. Sadly though breakfast was only available for one hour. during this hour there was no self service where one could get some cold cuts scrambled or even boiled eggs. just a few slices of toast and a pastry was provided.
- Naomi (8/5): - Lovely old hotel with lots of character in a lovely setting. Our room was very cold
- Anna (10/5): - Historic comfort -
- David (10/5): -
- theron (10/5): - Lovely old building in excellent location in Kings Lynn. Room was good size and bed was really comfortable. Lawrence the manager went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Couldn't find any faults with the place. Would definitely stay again.
- Jason (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Great food, enjoyable stay - Location was excellent and room overlooked the water. Very quiet and bed was comfortable. Had a meal in the hotel - Food was outstanding and atmosphere fab. Staff were very busy all night but were attentive to our needs as best as they could. For the price of the room we were surprised that there was no coffee machine in the room (which is pretty standard nowadays) just a kettle and sachets. Bathroom needed a bit of tlc too as some grouting was cracked around the toilet in an otherwise clean and spacious bathroom.
- David (10/5): - excellent breakfast and perfect location for access to locations around Kings Lynn. Very quiet and room very clean Nothing
- Kerry (9/5): A beautiful property in a lovely location; fantastic staff - The property was absolutely beautiful. Staff were friendly and attentive. The room was comfortable and welcoming with a lovely view over the river. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, served in lovely surroundings. I have already recommended it to colleagues and will definitely stay again when I am next in the area. The room was perhaps a little lived in, but it was spotlessly clean, had a charming style and was very comfortable.
- Douglas (5/5): We had a lovely time. - The shower was very weak.
The breakfast only had one vegan option.
- James (6/5): Charismatic and value for money - Amazing character and staff Bed / mattress needs replacing
- BUCHAN (9/5): Lovely location , building and staff - good food too ! - Loved the location , the friendly staff and the extremely comfortable room Nothing
- Mark (10/5): -
- goodess (10/5): - Being made to feel so welcome and comfortable as a single guest. Such a historic and atmospheric location. Loved the wooden window shutters.
- Benjamin (9/5): Lovely staff and a wonderful historied building - Lovely staff and a wonderful historied building. We had the wonderful Captains Suite complete with freestanding bath and views over the estuary. A good breakfast selection that the guys were able to organise for us at short notice. As always it's the details that count and Bank House have these nailed, with things like a little local history and sights booklet that they had put together themselves
- SNW (8/5): Good Hotel in Interesting Central Location - Beautiful old building in good location Parking is not straightforward and the longish walk down the quay to the "long stay" car park in pouring rain and strong wind was not enjoyable
- Simone (9/5): -
- Bruce (7/5): -
- Julia (7/5): Lovely building, beware of parking. - Beautiful building, good position ( apart from parking), friendly staff ( apart from not explaining parking), good food. Parking was not explained properly so we got a fine. Make sure you get a ticket for the free hour as well as any paid time. The staff should have made this clear.
- Mark (8/5): A decent hotel that makes good use of a beautiful building. - Beautiful building. It is old so do not expect a lift, anything level or straight. Room (Captain’s) was vast, comfortable and well appointed. Traditional slightly shabby furniture but that added to the considerable charm. Gorgeous curtains. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Well stocked bar. Good breakfast. Dinner was average/poor. Descriptions and prices promised better. TBF the hotel had a big party in and seemed short staffed but that showed in our food. Lack of care as it could have been so much better. Lots of regulars so perhaps just an off day. Cooked breakfast was much better.
- Muriel (10/5): -
- Megan (10/5): -
- Geoff (9/5): -
- Dave (8/5): Enjoyable - Historic Location Room was very small
- Jon (5/5): -
- Burton (9/5): - Nice friendly staff. Room was clean. Location was great The coffee could have been a little stronger
- Martin (8/5): - A characterful old building with comfy beds and large pleasant rooms - though a little cool as the heating wasn't on, which they did mention I should point out if it was a problem, but really only the bathroom in the morning that could have done with a bit of extra warmth. Friendly staff, good food and a pleasant stay.
- Sutton (10/5): -
- Frank (10/5): Lovely old hotel, very welcoming! - Perfect location in the old town and very close to the Corn Exchange theatre. Very quirky and full of history! Excellent breakfast. Very friendly, helpful staff! No parking at the hotel but lots of options close by.
- Joanne (10/5): Beautiful stay - Beautiful building rooms well appointed had everything needed. As I stayed in the summer the blinds weren’t that good let in the early morning sun just a little too early.
- June (5/5): Comfortable in central location - Location great. Bedroom comfortable though small. Black stains in bathroom need attention. Door handle missing screws. Bit of TLC required.
- Pippa (9/5): -
- Tariq (8/5): -
- Simon (6/5): We had a nice time, but we stayed there a few years ago and felt it was going downhill a bit now - Fantastic location but it wasn't booked with breakfast, we didn't eat there but it looked good. This is a fantastic hotel but our room was looking a bit tired. We went out Wednesday evening and got back to the hotel at about 10.30, all the staff had gone home and we let ourselves back in using a key they had provided which is fine, they told us that would happen, but it would have been nice to have a drink or two at the bar
- Sandra (8/5): - Great location, scenic area, peaceful. Very nice bathroom.
- Hernandez (10/5): Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff. - Extremely friendly and helpful staff! Lovely room and view, beautiful hotel.
- Sarah (7/5): Almost there but not quite - The building is stunning and the location is perfect for everything, right by the river, shopping areas, minster etc. The room was basic but fine for a quick stop. The bathroom was clean but dated. It was mouldy and the seal on the shower screen didn’t work properly so couldn't have a shower without causing a flood. Give breakfast a miss. Staff seemed incredibly busy, too busy, even though we were the only people there. Food was disappointing and prepared without any care.
- Kay (8/5): - No parking
- Alastair (8/5): Very pleasant - Outstanding character. helpful staff Heating in room was broken
Limited buffet selection at breakfast
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Jayne (10/5): Lovely room, truly wonderful staff - Lovely room with a view over the water, as I had travelled there for my wedding, it was a perfect room! The staff were all so lovely, chatty and helpful, I couldn't recommend a stay here enough. It is close to centre of town too if you were to visit
