Guest Reviews
- Julie (10/5): Hidden Gem in lovely village. - Wonderful room, plenty of space for our family of four, the kitchen was an added bonus. Great location for exploring peak district or visiting nearby cities. Plenty of pubs and places to eat nearby and a morrisons round the corner. Just to be aware onsite parking is only available for those with mobility issues, but we had no problem finding parking in nearby roads.
- Jane (10/5): - Large, clean, comfortable room. Kitchenette with all essential appliances and table and chairs. Everything new and in good condition. Staff are friendly and respond quickly to messages. N/A
- antony (9/5): just right - the room is perfect for us no toiletries for shower
- Judith (9/5): Quiet, clean and comfortable, excellent price - Perfect location for our needs, we were attending an event locally. Clean comfortable and quiet. East check in and check out, no contact needed with staff, but communication from Keith very good.

- Callum (10/5): Cheap cheerful and pleasantly surprised - All new and clean Nothing
- Trevor (8/5): Overnight stay - Easy check in..warm clean and comfortable. Perfect for what we needed. We were 3 couples in 3 rooms. Unfortunately 1 of the rooms toilets wasn't flushing properly. We didn't see any staff to tell them.
- Natalie (7/5): We both enjoyed our stay. Everything was central and easy to get to . - The apartment was clean . There was plenty of room. Easy to access. I didn’t like how loud the church bells were ringing it was noisy than the pub .
- Mel (7/5): - Keith was quick to respond to queries.
Clean.
Instant hot water!
Kitchenette. I think it was the wind but the security access light ket coming on through the night.
- antony (10/5): brill accommodation - it is private and comfy na
- Lynda (10/5): Hidden gem !! - Excellent host and very informative from pre arrival
Really helpful and accomodating with my requests regarding departure and parking
The room extremely clean and the most comfy bed.
Such a nice surprise arriving to underfloor heating !!! Nothing to report all good
- LYNN (3/5): Mis-described as "Deluxe" Basic, worn ,poor value for money - It was in walking distance to relatives in the village ....the main reason for booking
On street parking nearby was easy .
Good sized room
Instructions to find and access the property we're good I read the mixed reviews before booking and thought Id give it a go . The room is described as "Deluxe " but it was anything but !
It was very basic. Shame.....it had the potential to be much better .
There was one tea towel which was dirty. The only two mugs had stains in the bottom. The bed was poor , the bedding was worn and thin ,the pillows smelled and my skin itched all night long ! We didn't shower as the towels were poor .
The fridge switched on and off during the night , which I know they do,but because the room was so sparsely furnished, it echoed .
We were booked in for 2 nights but left after one and booked into a hotel in Holmfirth ,which for £109 we got free parking, a lovely room with a view and breakfast ( gorgeous complementary toiletries and shower as soon as we arrived ! )We didn't bother contacting the owner for a refund as I read in the reviews someone else had got nowhere. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and move on .
- Deborah (7/5): - Good size and equity Needed some basics. Washing up liquid and clothes . More shower gel for 1 people for 2 days than was provided . No hob and limited crockery .
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): -
- lynch (9/5): Great accommodation at an extremely competitive rate. - The accommodation was a studio apartment, which was preferable to a hotel room. It was clean, in good decorative condition and there were pubs, restaurants and a supermarket on the doorstep. The only thing I didn't like, was the lack of on-site parking. However, I was able to park in the nearby street ; a mere one minute walk.
- Jane (8/5): Over all for one night it was good - The location Lack of facilities- no hairdryer , no iron or Ironing board
- Wendy (8/5): Very nice - I only stayed for one night. It was very well located and good value for money. - Great location. Very clean. The host was very helpful when Booking.com messed up my bookings. There was damp in the bathroom and a slight smell of damp.
- Sharon (10/5): Value for money ideal location - Clean today and comfortable
- Elaine (9/5): -
- Alexandra (8/5): Spotless, comfortable accommodation and excellent communication - Spotless, comfortable bed, excellent shower, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle.
Excellent communication.
Centre of town
Good value for money
- Kym (9/5): - Room was spacious and clean. Booked last minute and all details came through quickly.
- Eleanor (8/5): -
- Adam (8/5): -
- Kel (10/5): It was just what we needed. Taxi ride to Picturedome and the Four Fiends was a brilliant boozer - Spotless No dislikes
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Reece (9/5): Great stay in meltham - Good location and clear instructions from the team. Also accommodated a slightly later check out time. Good value for what it is. Nothing all was good.
- Grennan (8/5): - Location and easy access Security light on and off, windy weather so sign on balcony making noise flapping about during night
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Simon (10/5): Great place - very clean - Great location Nothing
- Elizabeth (9/5): - We had an overnight stay, perfect location, quiet and comfortable There was nothing we didn't like
- Sally (8/5): Clean, warm basic accommodation for short stays - We had Room 8 on the first floor and having driven 5 hours in a storm and driving rain it was a warm, clean, spacous room to arrive at. The bed was comfortable and having a small kitchen and microwave meant we could pop to Morrisons down the road and pick up soup etc. We were staying here to be near family just outside the village, and for the price this made it an affordable place to sleep at night. The key was in a key box which was easy to use. Heating is underfloor but there was an electric heater to keep things cosy when the temperatures dropped below freezing. It was quite tricky to find the passageway to the rooms, as it's right on a busy junction - it says disabled people can drive down this, it's very narrow! It was a bit of a pain not to be able to drop off the least able of us outside, and we got soaked walking from the nearest car park with our cases.
Something which won't be a problem for many but was for our tall visitor, in a huge room with its roomy en suite, it's a shame the smallest sized shower had been installed. This was difficult to get in and out of, and our tall guest had to give up and take showers at the nearby family's home.
Also, with so much room, an armchair would have been welcome - sitting all evening on a small metal kitchen chair was not comfortable.
If you are only sleeping here, it's a good value option.
- Eliane (8/5): -
- Brian (8/5): - Good size and position in the town, easy to get to holmfirth and back by local taxi
- Kevin (10/5): - Everything was spot on..no complaints whatsoever nothing Nothing to dislike
- Geoffrey (5/5): -
- Mark (7/5): Great Value for Money - Excellent value for money - the rooms are large and have a great kitchen area. The shower is good and the bed is large and comfortable. Contact from the owner is good, access is easy. Could do with some more seating (ie sofa).
- Ian (7/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Would definitely recommend and would stay again. - Very clean and warm. Facilities were excellent. Shower was great with lots of pressure and hot water Parking can be challenging but not the fault of the owner.
- Russell (6/5): -
- Laura (10/5): - The location was perfect. The spaciousness of the room was a nice surprise so you don't feel cramped in any way. The room was modern and felt cosy and the bed was super comfy. The communication from the owners was brilliant and they respond really quickly. Nothing
- Karen (5/5): - Clean and in good location Sensor Lights on balcony disturbed sleep as binds were not blackout, fairly basic decor and no hairdryer dryer or toiletries provided.
- Jessica (7/5): - Bed was little hard
- Rebecca (9/5): Perfect for one night stay after a walk - Great location and lovely and warm when we arrived Kitchen could have been better stocked, we had to borrow a bottle opener from the pub!
- Neil (9/5): - Great place for a night away, clean, comfortable and fairly priced. I have no complaints
- Angela (5/5): Okay can’t really say we’d stay there again. - It was situated okay for why we were there. Didn’t think it was well furnished and the pots weren’t clean in the kitchen cupboards particularly the cutlery was greasy!
- Mark (8/5): Great value and large room. - Easy to find and great location. Huge room and really good value for money. Communication was good from the owner and access was easy. The building looks lovely from the outside with a nice local stone being used. Room could do with more soft furnishings - notably a sofa or a couple of comfy chairs placed at the end of the bed.
- Nicola (9/5): Lovely place, received at text with all information needed. Unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours ☹️☹️☹️ -
- Kelvin (10/5): Perfect for our needs - Clean, well furnished No issues to note
- Lisa (8/5): Modern conversion within an old building. - Modern within an old setting. Clean and quiet. Would be nice if there was a small chair or sofa to sit on instead of just the bed. It is a spacious studio apartment.
- Jane (10/5): Little Gem - This is a little hidden gem
It was very safe with the camera the room was great The heating was on and had everything you needed The bed was nice and comfortable
Definitely stay here again Nothing
- Jessica (8/5): - Was a little too warm but know for next time to let the host know before hand to turn the heating down alittle
- Jake (10/5): - Great value, lovely room, easy to find! Parking a little bit tricky, wasn't too hard to find some though
- Michael (10/5): Comfy and quiet :) - Excellent all round. Lovely owners. N/a
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Janice (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Thin Thin (8/5): -
- Craig (8/5): -
- TONY (7/5): Good and clean. - Good simple accommodation for an overnight stay. The self catering facilities would have been useful if we were staying longer. A good base for exploring Holmfirth and the surrounding areas. Nothing negative to add
- Ganizani Mukonda (10/5): -
- Tracey (9/5): - Clean , spacious and great for what we needed.Clear communication and instructions on parking and how to enter property.
- Joanne (8/5): Clean, comfortable, and good value for money. - Very clean. Comfortable. Lots of hangers in the wardrobe. Got most of what you you need for a short stay. Remember your soap/shower gel though as this isn't provided though we didn't expect it to be, and there are shops nearby. Lovely smelling hand soap in the bathroom though.
The location is good. There's plenty of pubs, restaurants/cafes and convenience stores. No on site parking but it was relatively easy to park nearby.
Didn't hear anything from the adjacent pub.
Lovely church bells ringing on the Sunday morning. It's not a case of not liking, just our observations.....the bathroom is big, but the shower cubicle is small. I think bigger cubicles would have been better.
The tv on the wall is quite small in comparison to the wall. Maybe a chest of drawers or a table near the wardrobe as there's a lovely big mirror but would have liked somewhere to do my hair. As I say, it's really not a criticism, just personal preference.
- simon (6/5): Nice town friendly people comfortable room but needs sound proofing! - Parking close by and apartment was comfy and cly The noise of the pub
Although they did mention it on the booking it was not where you would expect in the booking details so was missed by me
Also their description of it implies noise until say 11 pm but the noise continued into the early hours
- Ball (10/5): Great find - I was pleasantly surprised when walking into my room it was so comfortable clean spacious the shower was amazing and i will definitely be back again. There wasn't anything that i didnt like.
- Sally (10/5): Really lovely apartment, great location - Right in the centre of the town
Clean
Really comfy bed It didn’t bother us at all but there was no curtains/blinds at the kitchen window so it got a little bit light as soon as the sun came up.
If you’re a light sleeper it might bother you.
- Frances (4/5): Reminded me of a travelodge but not as comfortable. Lack of warm flooring makes it look and feel cold - Close enough to friend I was visiting. The drains need sorting as smelly.
Too dark
Unless blinds used, not private enough.
No onsight parking unless disabled and this is not made clear enough on website. Very tight to turn round a car if parking.
- Teresa (10/5): - The room was clean lovely set out and very comfortable Nothing
- bobby (10/5): - Great accommodation great pub next door lovely landlord and landlady defo go back
- Roger (9/5): A conveniently located and well presented room well equipped for a short stay in a beautiful area. - The room with a kitchenette was ideal for our stay visiting family. There was free parking 2/3 minutes walk away. Shops, cafes and eateries were all nearby. Nothing
- Eugene (8/5): -
- Blyth (10/5): 100% recommended - Excellent from start to finish, great communications with clear instructions, really well appointed room, spotlessly clean.
- Antony (9/5): -
- Carolyn (8/5): - The Swans Nest was convenient for a short stay with local parking nearby.
It has facilities to make a snack.
It was clean and comfortable Nothing. For a short stay it's ideal.
- thomas (10/5): -
- Shayan (10/5): -
- Appleyard (9/5): good value, thoughtful host. - The availability of a pedestal fan on the hottest night of the year was a godsend - thank you! The room is large, clean, and comfortable. Centrally located and, despite the comments of a few detractors, there was no noise from the drinkers in the car park/'beer garden'.
- Eugene (7/5): -
- Ben (10/5): Clean, comfy, perfect for a short stay - Clean and comfy, perfect for a short stop. We left a charger in the room and they promptly messaged, allowing us to collect it, thank you!
- michael (1/5): - There was nothing we liked about the place On there site i
t showed a park in the facility and said it was family friendly. We came with our little boy and there was no park near and we did not realise it was in a car park behind a pub. Rowdy drunk men and women arguing outside so it was not very nice for our boy. It was disappointing to say the least.
- Mark (9/5): -
- David (8/5): - Clean and in the town centre, easy to book in. Staff helpful. 10am check is abit early, most hotels are 1300 check out. Other than that, can't complain, if in that neck of woods again I'll definitely stop.
- Harriet (10/5): Perfect stay when going to John Smith's stadium - Lovely clean, comfortable and room was as described. Good communication from host with information on parking, wifi and check in and out process. N/a
- T cheshire (10/5): - Great room. Great communication. Clear instructions for gaining entry to property.
- Whitbread (9/5): - Very clean .every thing ready for us when we arrived.recomend the stay to other people. Everything fine
- Sue (9/5): Great location nice size room - Nice location good local facilities Would benefit from a little more crockery and cutlery
- William (10/5): -
- moss (10/5): Highly recomend. - Excellent, comfortable, spacious room. Clean and modern in the centre of Meltham so great walking access to local amenities.
- Neil (9/5): - Stay here before, will stay here again Nothing
- Alexandra (6/5): Comfortable but basic, potential to be very noisy. - The room was large, modern, comfortable, spotless and the shower was good and hot and powerful enough. The kitchen was kitted out pretty well for short stay self catering. The amenities were very basic. The only toiletries was a hand wash and toilet roll. The towels were very, really very, small. And there was very limited teabags, pouches of milk, coffee, and sugar, as in about two of each. None of this was a problem for us though as we were only staying two nights, visiting family, and just really needed somewhere to sleep. Sleep however proved challenging because the rooms are immediately behind a pub that did not quieten down till midnight on the Saturday night (fair enough, we thought, it is a Saturday) but it was very loud until 1am on the Sunday night which was not acceptable. I did have to text our contact to complain at 12:30 am because we were desperate to get to sleep. His response was instant and extremely apologetic and the noise stopped at 1 am. I’d like to think that was an an exception to the rule and a rare occurrence.
- Lazenby (10/5): A really nice quiet stay - Our room was beautiful and clean nothing
- Mirwin55 (7/5): Good Value for Money - Very clean well equipped
Spacious Situated in the pub garden so was quite noisy but we were warned about that
Very quiet one pub closed though
Sunday morning church bells ringing from 9am
- Stewart (10/5): -
- Ann (8/5): Very good - Very convenient for us visiting family
- Exon (6/5): lovely area. - location was fantastic, host was helpful. room was a lovely size, comfy beds. great pub across the forecourt with friendly staff. the room has underfloor heating which the temperature can be changed by ringing the host, daytime was great as the weather was warm, but early hours of the morning, the room was really cold. we didn't want to disturb the host by ringing him at 3am.
Extra blankets in the room needed.
There's an issue with the sink being too small for the tap, if you forget and put the tap on full, it overflows the sink and soaks you and the floor,in the bathroom. shower was cracked and signs of mould. Musty smell in the bathroom.
there's a pub across the forecourt which we thought was great, but could be a problem if you have children as music was loud until midnight and people sitting outside.
- Neil (10/5): Perfect place for a weekend getaway. - We didn’t have interaction with staff, which wasn’t a bad thing, had clear instructions on how to get our key, rooms were perfect for the 2night stay. Clean, modern and comfortable Maybe some bigger towels? Seriously that’s the only thing I can think of… petty, right ? 😂
