Really impressed with the house and the little extras left for our convenience. The beds were comfortable and the house was so clean. Really impressed there was a washing machine/drier there as well. Great place to stay. Nothing we didn't like. We loved it all.

• Martha (8/5): Lovely private home retreat after long days of traveling. - Very comfortable home we all amenities as stated. Very relaxing and peaceful. Was able to meet the hostess & she was warm & welcoming. The only thing that I didn’t like was the “off” taste of the water. Even after boiling the water it still tasted bad. This affected the taste of coffee, tea, pasta & especially the drinking water. It was a little tricky to locate the address initially as we didn’t know what to look for. Street views of address were a lifesaver. :)

• Elizabeth (9/5): Lovely house, comfortable, warm, nicely decorated. - Breakfast was a pleasant surprise and ample. There were no dish coths. The range grill was very good but I couldn't get the top & bottom elements to turn on. Not sure why. Wi-fi password was difficult to enter on cell phone with the 0 with a slash through it. Managed to get a friend to send the correct one. The bed lamp in end bedroom needed a new battery - was not working.
• Azzi (5/5): - Good location close to the beach. Bed room was very tight barely enough room to move around. Was told the day before check in that there was e coli detected in the water. Communication with host was going well until we tried to lock the door after check in and it would not lock. Messaged the owners who said they could not come out to the property and kept saying the door is new and only 4 months old. Which did not really help the situation. The door doesn't magically lock because you say it's new and believe me we tried. I have travelled many times and opened and locked many doors in my lifetime. As a mother with kids I had a very uncomfortable night sleeping in the house knowing that our doors were unlocked. Would have also preferred blinds on all windows.

• R (8/5): Excellent location, clean and comfortable. - The place was clean and well equipped. Beds and sofas were comfortable. Location is great for accessing Nugget Point and the Catlins. The roof started leaking with the heavy rain. We notified the hosts who said they would get it fixed. It was our last night, so not a major problem for us. There is no space for bags or cases in the bedrooms. It wasn’t a big issue, but could be for larger groups.

• Graham (8/5): A very pleasant and relaxing stay in a light, airy property. - Location superb Easy walk to beach and restaurant etc The large step into the back bedroom was a bit scary if you want to visit the toilet in the night. No bedside lamps meant you had to get up and turn on the main bedroom light if you wanted to read.
• Petr Abda (9/5): - Easy self-check in process, cosy place to stay near the beach but still above (no tsunami risk). Walking distance to local dining place and short drive to Nugget point. Nicely recently renovated (need still some touch ups around doors etc.) old house. Easy to park/drive in, outside sitting area and good coffee (capsule machine). All you need during one/two night holiday stay. Nothing to dislike here ;)
• Hilary (9/5): Excellent !! - Location was amazing Cute little house with everything we needed. White sofa so comfy (not that practical for a rental property though!!!!) Front bedroom was very small. Couldn’t get dressed in it. And some side lamps in the house would have been lovely.

Had everything we needed for a night and we were very comfortable. Great communication by the host and easy to get in with the lock box Not much space to move around the bedrooms, but otherwise had everything we needed for a night.

• Valda (9/5): Excellent place - Location geeat. Sofa bed in lounge very comfy . Lounge suit good height. Throughly enjoyed our stay. Can a handle go in the toilet to help folk with disabilites get up. I'm 80 on crutch and that would have been helpfull.

• Jean-Luc (10/5): - Vue sur la baie et proximité de la plage pour aller marcher. Avins passé 3 nuits et avins visité plusieurs points d'intérêt le long de la côte. Avons pris beaucoup de photos! Avons cuisiné tous nos repas sans difficultés. La chambre avant est petite ( lit Queen) mais il y a amplement d'espace pour laisser les valises dans le salon avant. Nous n'avons pas utilisé la chambre arrière.

Big Smart TV, games and books. Super comfy lounge with great views of Kaka Point. Great water pressure in the shower. Washing machine and dryer. Second bedroom step up was very high to get into. No views in this room and tight walk around the bed.

• Ismail (9/5): - The location was great. The house was great too. Not much to comment. It was a cosy stay for my family. The 2nd room is way at the back of the house. So, to leave the kids was quite a challenge. But that was just my personal thing. And when we arrived, it was quite a chilly day. The heatpump was great , but it was an inverter, so it takes quite sometimes to warm the house. And I would suggest a door stopper at the front door would be great. Because it has a draft and the cold air comes in. We had to use the towel to cover it. And maybe to switch on the heatpump 1 hr earlier would be much appreciated.

The beautiful white couch was so pristine we weren't game to sit on it. i suspect it would be a great place as a base to catch a few waves. The seas were rough and the tide high so I couldn't have my morning walk along the beach. The driveway is a bit easy to miss and as the traffic seems to speed past you have to be careful getting into and out of the house.

• Paola (3/5): Poor customer response from host after complaining - Location of the property right by the only restaurant in the area. A mouse (?) got into our room (back room) on the night of our stay. Kept us up as we were not sure what was in the room making noises and concerned over our little baby's safety (also in the room). The back room was also extremely cold and the windows didnt do any justice to keep any insulation. Reached out to the host and asked for a refund and they just decided to ignore my request. Very disappointed as the rest of the house is well set up and as a place of accommodation for travellers, they should pay more attention to pest control.

(see photo of suggested breakfast).

• Philip (5/5): Views of beach from kitchen, main bedroom & end side of lounge, amenities okay except bedrooms. - NOT SUITABLE FOR FIVE ADULTS MORE SUITED FOR PERHAPS A COUPLE WITH ONE OR TWO KIDS. Rented out as (suitable) to sleep FIVE adults in two bedrooms. A double bed in each bedroom. Also two single bunk beds (tiered) in the second bedroom. Bedrooms small, best described as largish single bedrooms. With the double-beds in situ tight space to manoeuvre about inside rooms. No wardrobe, no cabinet. No room for luggage, so luggage had to be left in the lounge. The second bedroom was even much more compacted with the bunk beds. The floor of second bedroom (seemed an add on to an original bach) is about 250mm higher than the rest of the house building. It has a sliding door access to it (no room for a normal hinged door presumably). On moving the sliding door open to exit the bedroom it is a sheer 250mm straight drop to the floor of the rest of the house - not suitable and most definitely potentially hazardous for young kids and older folks; maybe even for younger grown ups.

• Sarah (8/5): Clean, cosy and comfortable in the Catlins - Lovely, clean, cosy, newly-renovated small bach with coastal vibe. Great location for exploring the Catlins and close to supermarkets. Loved the comfy white couch to enjoy sun and seaview while relaxing. Excellent shower pressure and instant hot water (gas), plus heated outdoor shower. Well equipped with all linen, kitchen, bathroom and laundry consumables, plus added extra food items were a pleasant surprise. New large laundry sink and bench very useful. New washing machine and dryer. Heat pump/aircon in main room. Sheer curtains in front room are very pretty but need blinds behind or similar for extra warmth, privacy at night and preventing street light/sunlight coming in. Some windows need replacing and no dishwasher but new owners say they have that planned.
