Guest Reviews
- Kirsty (7/5): The accommodation is in a good location. La punta is quite a dusty area and it is on the side of a busy dirt road, so yo - The location is great — right near all the eateries of La Punta. It’s very chilled and social, without being chaotic 😊 It says the room has air con but it was on 24 or something and not remotely cool (& I’m not a person who even likes it super cool). They only allow it on in the evening, before sleep, and they keep the remote so you can’t adjust it 😅

- Henry Rossi (8/5): - Buena ubicación y atención, very good cost benefit. Important to find solutions for warm inside the room and more air circulation, more shade in the area.
But the place is good and have big potential.
- ottavia (6/5): Great for few nights. - Amazing location, you can just walk down to the sea. Lots of cafe, restaurants around the area, a short walk away. Felt a bit small, common areas and dormitory.
Lots of dust and sand.
- Daria (9/5): Nice calm hostel - Comfy private beds with curtains, electricity socket and a light. Good room temperature, enough storage space. 2 basic toilets and showers.
Kitchen equipped for cooking.
Close to the beach
- Ismael (10/5): - Su ubicación. Está cerca de la playa.
- Melanie (5/5): Ça aurait pu être mieux - La chambre 6 lits La cuisine et juste 1 hamac
- Ufuk (2/5): Poor facilities and cleanliness issues made the stay uncomfortable despite the good location. - Location I decided to leave earlier and stayed only one night instead of the two nights I had booked. First of all there was a very bad smell coming up from the sinks and the toilet area was not clean at all. The shower had extremely low water pressure which made it even hard to clean the sand from the feet. It also did not drain properly, with water coming back up. The mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable. The WiFi was not working at all so I had to use mobile data. Guests were smoking weed in the common areas and there was no staff available in the evening to report the issues. The place definitely needs some improvement and unfortunately the pictures are not showing the current state.
- Ben Langham (10/5): -
- Angie (10/5): -
- Beatrice (8/5): Perfect location, nice rooms, where you can sleep perfectly - Perfect location, super close to the beach and surf wave Cleaning and emptying the trash would be nice more often
- Manon (9/5): - Amazing manager, creating such great vibes in the hostal, gathering in the evening for collective dîner, chill and games, going out for sunset and music on group. I stayed 4 extra days just to enjoy the nice and relaxing vibes. So close to the best part of the beach and the best restaurant among the city. The hammocks are super confortable and super spots to chill. There is AC, fane, large lockers. There is even a cat 🥹
- Gio (10/5): - My stay at Juárez Hostel, which was supposed to last a maximum of 5–6 days, turned into two full weeks because I felt so at home in this warm, family-like atmosphere. The beach is really really close !
The hostel is human-sized, and both the staff and the volunteers are incredibly available and kind.
I would also like to give a very special thank you to Fernando, the owner and the soul of the hostel. With him, get ready to live the full experience of Puerto Escondido !!
Thank you again so much, and hopefully see you again ❤️

- Gordon (10/5): - The place is clean and cheap. It is 100 yards from town, the beach and surf. Great location. Think of the accommodations like a Japanese pod hotel. It was quiet during quiet hours.
- Karina (10/5): - The Hostal is located close to the good areas. Diego was really attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time.
- Lily (10/5): -
- Sandy (10/5): Good price- great place to chill - Friendly home away from home. Very chilled and five minutes from the beach. Communal Kitchen, curtains on bunk beds. Codes instead of keys. Friendly and helpful. I liked everything- if you’re a budget traveler this is perfect - there’s no swimming pool or live dj here but it’s great for a relaxing and affordable place to stay.
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful - Great Excellent
- Germán (10/5): Top experience in la Punta - Beach close and top atmosphere.
- Noemie (5/5): - The location & the staff was nice No pressure in the shower and no hot water at all.
Also no towels - we paid for one night 263€ for 2 in a 8 people dorm!!!
- Giusy (10/5): Fuuuuuun - Cosy - sweet - felt like a sweet little home for a week. The people I’ve met were the best additions- if you are a solo traveler i recommend! There are activities you could so together and it has been the best way to spend my Christmas!
- Yabra Lopez de Heredia (1/5): - Muy mala onda
- Wietse (8/5): -
- Gabriella (9/5): Hostal Juarez was the perfect stay for me and Tania was great and took care of all of my concerns! - Great location. Small with only 3 rooms total. Friendly & helpful staff. Quiet. Simple accommodations but has what you need. The water pressure was really low so I had to use a shared bathroom even though my room came with a private one and the water was cold.
- Raquel (2/5): Good but won’t be back - Location, staff and ambiance I can’t confirm this place is the place I got dengue, but I knew I was going to get it when staying here. It was impossible to even go to the restroom, you’d get like 20 mosquito bites. Even putting repellent, which was gone in like 2 days, I couldn’t enjoy being around the hammock or at a table working because the amount of mosquitoes in this property was just insane. I moved to a different hostel and not a single one.
Well, I got dengue and it’s not nice, you really feel you’re gonna die, and I don’t wish this to other travelers, so if you’re prone to being bitten by mosquitoes don’t stay here. Better to pay 5 extra dollars and not 5000 pesos in medical bills.
Also, place needs mattress upgrade and cleaning.
Staff was nice but dengue is hell.

- Hui (10/5): - I stayed a whole week at Hostal Juárez and had the absolute best time! Great vibe, amazing people, unbeatable location, which is just not even a 2-minute walk to the beach La Punta. The hostel is small but therefore had a very tight community bound, everyone was super friendly with each other and we all built genuine connections. The manager Maya is amazing, she’s always there for you if you need something, super considerate and warm. If you also choose this hostel, you will definitely have a great time!
- Lena N. (10/5): - AC Rooms, very clean, friendly staff, we could even rent surfboards cheaper than in other places
- Aljaž (10/5): - Simple and cheap, great place!
(8/5): Very good - They kindly changed my dorm from 8 people to 4 people dorm for my comfort! The bathroom in the 4 people dorm has really weak water pressure (not able to take shower)!
- Stephanie (10/5): Perfect chill vibes, surfers paradise - Super chill vibes, amazing air con, great sleep, 5 mins walk to the beach and La Punta facilities. Quite a walk to the highway for collectivos into town, basic kitchen.
- František (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (1/5): Terrible customer service and unable to help find a positive solution. - The only positive in our experience was the location. Unfortunately upon arrival we found that the bathroom had not been cleaned in the RV. We were told it was going to he attended to. We also noticed the shower was leaking and were told someone was coming to fix it. We had gone out and come back and nothing had been done. We raised our concern again and were told it would be attended to. Had gone out a second time and upon arrival in the evening still nothing had been done. We once again raised our concern and said we would like to seek alternative accommodation.
The owner who had not introduced himself, overheard our conversation with the reception woman and spoke rudely to us asking why we wanted to leave and told us no he wouldn’t refund us the partial refund, which we were entitled to. Finally, we were told someone would clean the bathroom and fix the shower the following morning at 9am and no one came. At this point we left the accomodation. We reached out to booking.com and hostel Juarez to organise a partial refund. Hostel Juarez did not respond to either booking.com or us. The owner showed terrible customer service and was not able to help find a solution in a positive way.
- Rosalie (10/5): Recommend! - Very good vibe. Simple, but all one needs. I stayed in the van which was cosy. Diego made sure that everyone was taken care of :)
- Alexia (4/5): At least the price is not high - I didn’t enjoyed my stay, I left earlier because it was really not clean and not comfortable. The shower wasn’t clean so you don’t enjoy showering. It was really hot inside the room, even at night with the AC. I don’t recommend to book a trip there.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Best hostal in Puerto Escondidoe! Nicest people! - This is the best hostal!! The staff are so welcoming, fun and attentive. If you are looking for a well priced hostal with perfect proximity to the beach, air conditioning, friendly dogs and a kitchen this is the place for you. Diego and Andres are the best people ever. We left to Mazunte for two nights and loved it so much we came back. The vibes are very authentic and there is everything you need. Highly highly recommend! Everything was perfect. The only thing to note is that the common area is sandy and there is some construction going on around the hostal, but that did not affect our experience at all.
- Marina (4/5): Disappointing -
- Flores (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deniz (10/5): Exceptional - I both stayed in the van and shared dorm and both were very comfortable and clean. The staff is also beyond helpful. I definetly recommend. Nothing to complain :)
- Eric (9/5): Superb - It was a very quiet place and the girl that worked there, Gala, was great at her job and a lovely person. The beds were ok and the room was not too hot at night. Showers could have been cleaned more often
- Magdalena (10/5): Cozy RV in a super nice hostel - I stayed in the cozy RV for more than a week and loved it. Cozy bed with AC, a private bathroom and a kitchen to make breakfast- all i needed. The staff were super nice too and the atmosphere was really good. Sometimes there was no coffee in the morning, an extra coffee maker to prepare your own in that case would be great.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - Loooove the guy who works at the hostel! So welcoming Would be nice if the rooms get cleaned more often. But I recommend this place.
- Lena (10/5): Would always come back! - I had the best time at juárez! The overall vibe is cozy and social, josh is super sweet and brings all the guests together! Location is very close to the beach and all the stores in la Punta! -
- Jake (4/5): Disappointing - Nice location, close to the beach! Great storage space in the lockers The bathrooms were not cleaned for the entirety of my stay, there is sand absolutely everywhere. The kitchen isn’t really useable. There is also no reception so no one to ask questions to
- Nicolas (10/5): GREAT - Super close to the beach, perfect location, quiet and laid back atmosphere.
Joseph is the best host, really takes care of all your need and very friendly. Highly recommend
- Magdalena (9/5): Great place! - Small hostel, very close to the beach, with a very good vibe! I stayed in the cozy RV for about a week, it has a comfy bed, AC, Wifi and a bathroom - everything you need. They offer filtered water and free coffee (most of the times, an additional option to make your own coffee would be great!). Lovely staff!
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional - Joss is one of the nices persons I have ever met. He made me feel very welcome and included me like a brother. You can‘t be sad around him, something about his character makes you feel happy and comfortable. He is the best part about Hostal Juarez 🫶🏽
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Hostal Juarez is small and cozy hostel nearby the beach.
There's nice and relaxed social vibe but not parties every night. The hostel has cooperation with another bigger hostel, where is possible to go to bar or participate in activities.
Joss who was working there was very helpful and friendly. There should be more volunteers in the hostel 'cause there' s a lot to do for one person.
We had some problems with air conditioner in the girls' dorm at my first night in the hostel, but it got fixed for the second night.
- Moritz (10/5): Will def come back and i am missing the place already - The vibe was super welcoming, initimate space in the best location in la punta Nothing
- Judith (10/5): I loved the hostal! Good vibes, especially José is so nice and open! He hangs out a lot with the guests and gives amazin -
- Alonso (9/5): Superb -
- Henrik (9/5): Superb - Joss is an incredibly friendly host who immediately makes you feel welcome and supports you with anything you need. He helped me organize surfing lessons, a whale watching tour, recommended restaurants and overall makes a tremendous job in creating an inclusive & welcoming atmosphere.
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional - Nice located hostel!
Has everything you need!
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional - Super good location, close to the beach
- Philippe (10/5): Viva la juarez - I enjoyed my stay at the hostal. The beds were very confortable & the room cooled down propperly. The vibe there is just very relaxing & you get to interact wirh peaople easly :)
- Merel (9/5): Superb -
- Ferdinand (9/5): Superb - Awesome staff, very chill
- Kolby (10/5): Exceptional - Max is a great host and makes his guests feel welcomed
- Alastair (10/5): Simple, friendly, relaxing, great location and energy - Great location, a few mins walk to the beach and in a peaceful location away from the busy main area. The guys who run it were lovely - happy to help and helped give the place really positive vibes. A very relaxing place. Nothing.
(9/5): Superb - A new place in Puerto Escondido that has a soul so far! And its guardian is Max :) Even tho this place still seems like under construction and improvements, it already has all the basics you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great, everything is super close, and still hostel itself is far enough to avoid all the noises from the nearby busiest street. At the lovely yard of the hostel you will always meet someone to hangout or chat. And Max is always around to help you with everything you need. Who is that magic Max?:) find out yourself! guys you need more hammocks!!! ;)
- Omri (10/5): Very good place - Nice and chill in the best area
- Robin (9/5): The place to go if you’re looking for the best value for money! - Basic accommodation with everything you need (AC and WiFi) in a great location. Definitely has a chill surfer vibe to it. It just recently opened so it’s in great shape. Very nice owners. Everything was good
