Guest Reviews
- Sally (7/5): Family house convenient for Hay festival - We stayed here as a base for the Hay festival which was fine. Large house, plenty of space, comfortable beds, good shower, parking, WiFi, communication from the host was good and prompt. Good value for money. One of the reviews mentioned how dusty the house is and I have to agree. There were lots of cobwebs and dust, even in accessible areas. The house needs a good dust, hoover and skirting boards cleaned.
- Brian (7/5): - We appreciated the quaint cottagy atmosphere, especially the cosy sitting room. The beds were comfortable. It met our expectations. Parking was so easy. Being off street, was a bonus. The clothes line worked but it would be challenging in a wind. The 1st B/r centre light globe blew.
- Dennis Figueras (4/5): Disappointing after traveling 2500 miles to get there. - The spaciousness of the bedrooms, clean bed linen and towels. The cottage didn’t have two bathrooms as clearly stated in the website. It has one bathroom and a downstairs toilet or as the sign on the door said “lavatory”. Repairs and maintenance of the cottage is not a priority. There were broken items and items that didn’t work like the ceiling lamp in one of the bedrooms. The fridge is very small and not adequate for four adults. It had a cracked inside panel. There is a mismatch of old furniture in need of some updating. The most disappointing cottage I have ever rented in UK. The cottage could be such a lovely house if taken care of. There is noise from vehicles going by on the adjacent road.

- Claridge (9/5): Lovely cottage perfect for a shot stay if doing things in the area - Perfect for the trip we were taking, place was tidy and there were good facilities would also be great for a family to stay at Few little quirks (the oven door had broken but they had messaged us to let us know and we didnt need to use it)
- Hencher (10/5): A perfect base for our little family as we visited Hereford and Abergavenny. Fantastic, thank you! - Property is spacious, family friendly, dog friendly and has all the facilities you could want. It was clearly well maintained and it’s in a great location.
- Jennifer (10/5): Would highly recommend - It was very warming and comfortable, its spacious and furnished well. We had everything we needed for the stay. We made use of some cards available, nice quiet location, the recommended fish and chip shop that was a short drive was yummy. Check in and check out was easy. Had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and would recommend. No dislikes
- Angela (10/5): -
- Edward (10/5): Lovely place, lovely people. - Ideally suited for our needs. Nothing, everything was great.
- Yvonne (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay - Bed was so comfy and it was very well heated Maybe a new fire in lounge
- Richard (9/5): Very comfortable and convenient. - Location was perfect for our needs and very easy to find thanks to the directions provided. The cottage is spacious and airy with two large bedrooms. Likewise the kitchen is large and well equipped. The furniture is of a previous era but functional and comfortable. WiFi worked well. The property does suffer from some road noise since it backs onto the road between Hereford and Abergavenny but we didn’t find it much of an issue.
- Richard (10/5): Very happy with it. Perfect as a comfortable, practical and enjoyable base. - Location, parking, attractive surroundings, funky decor, personality, spaciousness, cleanliness, practicality etc etc! The glasses and mugs towards the back of the cupboards were so clean.
The photo of the front suggested a different property
The road was quite noisy but expected and cant be helped. .
- Patrick (9/5): - We stop at a lot of different places but felt totally at ease here. I would imagine it has been a family home for a long time and ( nebulous thing) built up good vibes.love kitchen, high ceilings and bedroom. The space is enormous and gives pleasure Don't want to quibble over small details
- Raymond (10/5): This stay was lovely for me & my cat, we really benefited from it over the Xmas & NY period & host pleasant, - Spacious, private, warm, clean, the train, the apples, easy road access, pretty garden, good shower, hot baths, washing machine, views Traffic
- Nigel (10/5): - Owner was very helpful, we where a bit late and she kindly stayed up to ensure we got there OK. The place has a rustic charm and everything you could need. Plenty of cooking pots and pans, cups etc. Spacious through out. Tbh nothing for the price was very happy.

- Laura (8/5): Really nice and comfortable stay - The location was really nice with a little garden out the back to relax. There was also an apple tree in the garden which was a really nice touch. Our little one loved it ❤️. The cottage is very cosy and has everything you need. We struggled to find the cottage at first as the postcode directs you to a cottage located on the road opposite. Although this is explained by the owner prior to travelling. Look out for the right turn especially at night or you could easily miss the turning
- Portia (9/5): Highly reccomended - Beautiful part of the world. Massive space to relax and rest. Comfortable beds. Great kitchen to cook in. Highly recommend.
- Bolton (10/5): Cosy, comfy stay - Such a lovely cottage, a great location and perfect place to relax and spend time. Very clean and tidy, we had everything we needed for our stay. Great communication and very helpful.
- Debbie (10/5): Excellent place to stay - A lovely cottage, very spacious, clean and home from home. The beds were comfortable, will definitely be back. Nothing
- Claire-Marie (9/5): -
- S.J.V. (5/5): Disappointed by the cleanliness. - The cottage was spacious and well equipped. Handy boot room for wet and muddy attire, also a good place to dry off a rain soaked dog. Super comfy beds and comfortable furniture in the sitting room. There was always plenty of hot water and heating throughout if needed. Free WiFi and no extra charges for our dog which is unusual these days. Washing machine and cooker in good working order. Excellent parking and key left ready for immediate access when we arrived. The majority of the rooms are just looking a little tired, worn and dusty and in need of a good spring clean. Kitchen cupboards and drawers need cleaning as some were very dusty and dirty. . Also a check on cleanliness of pots and pans is recommended as past renters are obviously not washing up properly. I had to wash frying pans, several saucepans, measuring jug etc before I could use them. They all had dried food stuck to them. I'd also throw out the old dish brush and scourer rather than leaving them by the sink. They certainly didn't look or smell very hygienic. Bulb in the double bedroom needs replacing, curtains in some rooms are hard to pull together, blind in the sitting room is missing the mechanism to close it. Just small things but they all add up.
- Vi (9/5): Cosy cottage stay - We had a wonderful stay at the cottage with our 5 year old daughter and springer spaniel. The cottage was both cosy and offered lots of space for us with everything we could have needed as a base for exploring Abergavenny, Brecons and the surrounding area. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy (with great floor fans that we appreciated). There was both a bath for our little one and a good shower for us - with two toilets in the house. The kitchen had plenty of cooking utensils, apparatus, pots and pans for making family meals. The garden is a lovely size with a gorgeous apple tree and was enclosed for our dog which was a big bonus. We didn't speak to the hosts much who are on site, which suited us well, but when we did they were very friendly and helpful. They leave their numbers should we have needed anything and useful local information is provided. Thank you for a relaxing stay. The only small negative was that it was a bit dusty with cobwebs in most areas.
- Russel (10/5): -
- john (8/5): - Traffic noise
- Samantha (10/5): - Was so homely, beds where so comfy would definitely stay there again lovely little cottage 😃
- Fionnuala (10/5): - This is a beautifully kept cottage. It was warm and cosy and clean and was only 10/15 minutes from abergavenny town.
I would definitely stay here again. Nothing
- Gareth (10/5): Lovely comfortable accommodation roughly half way between Abergavenny and Hereford - The house is well equipped, it was clean and tidy, the beds comfortable and even had a garden and patio. It was necessary to drive out to pubs or restaurants because we didn't plan to be self catering. However, the two nearest pubs were great.
- Emma (7/5): - Spacious, spotlessly clean, good size garden ideal for our dog. Good parking. Good communication from host Needed a bit of tlc. We stayed over a very hot weekend and the bedrooms were unbearably hot, could have done with fans. Needed to have the windows open but the road was noisy with lorries and farm traffic!
- Jam (9/5): Superb -
- Maisie (7/5): It was very nice and we all felt safe and at home. - The cottage was very spacious we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Maybe needed a hair dryer, and some refill hand soap.
- Carole (7/5): nice house but wrong place for us - breakfast was not included. Location was not good for us to get to it from where we were coming from. The accommodation was cosy and had a nice atmosphere. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. Down stairs toilet was a bonus. Stairs were steep, house was dusty in places with cob webs. Had to contact the host to get the information for where to pick up the key, information was good as to where to find the accommodation and key. But fell i should not have had to ask the before it should of been sent.
- Lee (8/5): Very good - Plenty of space nice n clean big drive n big back garden to let the dog out
- Lianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Deanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Perfrctly - What a gem of a find -lovely spacious cottage with outdoor space dining room and living room like spacious kitchen. Perfectly in between Abergavenny and Hereford and a great base for exploring the Welsh borders.
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Large sunny warm house well equipped kitchen. Liked the artwork It's all a bit ' tired' looking .
- Alice (7/5): Great value for money - This was great value for money. The rooms were really big and comfortable. It's great that we could choose the exact nights we wanted. Really well equipped kitchen if we had wanted to cook. There is plenty of hot water for showers. The road was a bit noisy, but we got used to it.
The heating was a bit confusing, and it was chilly the first morning, but once we figured it out, it was fine. There was a sign saying you had to turn it down to turn it up, but we didn't realise we had to switch the thermostat to off for it to come on. Also, the ceiling above the stairs was low, and a tall member of our party bumped their head. Perhaps a sign or tape would be helpful.
Overall, it was a great stay. Exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely place to stay for our walking weekend and so nice to be able to take the dogs - Good kitchen
So helpful to be able to take my well behaved dogs with me no fuss
Garden secure for smaller not an agile setter so be watchful
Charming place perfect for our stay thank you
- John (1/5): Lovely property but heating seriously flawed! - Lovely cottage but serious faulty heating!
Freezing Property good maintenance of heating poor house
- Lianne (10/5): Brilliant location and facilities to explore area - Property was perfect, a little harder to find as maps took us to the side of the garden but the place was brilliant exactly what we needed as a base to explore the area.
- Sara (10/5): Very very good! Definitely recommend! - Very spacious, clean, warm, fully equiped kitchen, comfortable beds. The host was very nice and responded to my messages very quickly. Good garden and well fenced.
We were very happy to be able to have our dogs with us!
Location was perfect for nice countryside walks.
- Ryan (10/5): Great stay at a fabulous house - We had a wonderful stay! The secure garden was a fantastic feature, and our dog absolutely loved exploring all the new scents. The kitchen was impressively well-equipped, with everything we could possibly need. The property itself was incredibly spacious, and the bedrooms were comfortably large, which made for a very relaxing experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a dog-friendly retreat with all the comforts of home!
- Duncan (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (8/5): Loved the house and large rooms -
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Melvyn (5/5): Passable - Shower rugs bed Dated needs modernisation
- Alan (9/5): Spacious - Comfortable Not close enough to shop or pub
- Stephanie (10/5): Comfortable and spacious accommodation, clean and well presented. Made welcome and would stay again. -
- Nicky (10/5): Our host was charming and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay very much. - The house was beautifully arranged, decorated and furnished, I particularly liked the mid-century vibe. Having a private and secure garden was great for my dog, and being able to sit outside with a drink or meal. The welcome pack was generous and unexpected. Loved exploring the area, Dore Abbey and Llanthony Priory are a must. The road adjacent to the property was a bit noisy, perhaps due to the time of year, farm vehicles completing harvesting, but unavoidable. Directions for finding the house would have been useful as the postcode is shared with some cottages opposite.
- Joanne (10/5): Quaint, comfortable and relaxing - Stylish by name stylish by nature, a very old school feel About the cottage with all the mod cons. Plenty of room for the 3 of us and a dog, ideal for a family. Lovely welcoming gift and as our stay was to attend a funeral nearby the owner agreed to allow us to access the property earlier than stated which we were very grateful for. Nothing to dislike the only thing I could say was the location as not easy to access anywhere by foot but again you need to travel there by car so not an issue and the next village is only a few minutes up the road
