Guest Reviews
- Margaret (1/5): Did not stay would like a refund and someone needs to check this property - We did not stay at the property, the property was very very very disgustingly dirty. It has mold, dirty oven, dirty microwave, dust all over the lamps. Crumbs all over the counters We did not stay! Had to get another place, its almost like its not a rental and someone lives here full time and just leaves if someone rents it, nor did we feel safe as the lock and key were not good. My mother is 72 and has to rent somewhere else after traveling all day and night from the US. You need to check on this property. Pretty sure its not a rental. Noone can stay where there is mold and dust.
- Alastair (5/5): It was good - The flat was ok The boiler made a noise during the night in the main bedroom
- Michelle (10/5): Was great, I would definitely use this property again when back in the area. - The property was very clean, cosy and comfortable. Everything we needed was in the property.
We stayed at the property as a base to visit the Cowal highland gathering. This was convenient for the ferry terminal (short taxi trip) and was a lovely place to come home to to relax at the end of 2 busy days. We used the spar shop just at the bottom at the road for takeaway rolls and coffees in the mornings which was handy and one Bruce street for dinner one evening which again was a short walk down the road and was lovely. The 3 flights of stairs up to the flat but this isn’t a negative more just the thought of having to climb them at the end of the day! However worth pointing out if there is anyone in the party with mobility issues.

- Mcsheffrey (8/5): Very good - Good apartments. As advertised
- Sarahjane (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (8/5): Enjoyable - Location of property. Cleanliness. Poor cold water pressure in bathroom.
- Stephen (8/5): On the whole okay. The above criticisms can be easily solved. - Location ideal Being on top floor with stairs a problem for us personally. Very low pressure to cold water tap in bathroom basin. Towel rail was loose and prone to fall off.
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Kayleigh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (8/5): Very good - A good sized apartment in a nice location. We enjoyed using it as a base to explore the area. Beds were very comfy. No tea towels were provided! A couple of things could do with a bit of TLC but they didn't affect our stay
- Anne (8/5): Very good - Nice and spacious The stairs
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Rachel (4/5): Don't let the pictures deceive you.. - The location was ideal as we had a family wedding at the Albany at the bottom of the road. The apartment is a 5 minute walk from Greenock West Train Station. There is a Spar located on the road if essentials are needed.
The apartment was light, bright and spacey, two decent sized bedrooms and a large kitchen, dining living room area.
Hairdryer available in main bedroom if required. Nespresso machine (large pods) available in kitchen. Where to start.. the communal area is a lot to be desired, dirty steps (a lot of steps) and handrails. We knew prior to arrival it was a top floor flat howver there were a lot of steps to climb!
On first impression the apartment looked clean.. however it really wasn't.. the dining table was covered in stains, dishwasher still had plates from previous guests and crumbs all over the counter top from the toaster. It states the flat is professionally cleaned however this is very much debatable... we left it cleaner than when we arrived.
One of the dining table chairs was wobbly... didn't sit on to prevent an injury.
The cushions on the sofas were covered in stains and the rug on the floor was a tripping hazard with the corners turned up (this has been noted on previous reviews but seemingly nothing done about it)
We had issues with the hot water, the shower was like lava, the bathroom sinks water pressure was great for hot water but a dribble for cold.. contrast in the kitchen, we had to boil the kettle to get hot water.
There was a lack of kitchen utensils (a knife block with no knives...) no kitchen tea towels either.
The front door had 3 locks on the inside, however only one worked.
We could not get the Virgin TV to work, it stated it wasn't connected, did however have acccess to BBC iPlayer and Netflix.
In both bedrooms, there wasn't a curtain only a stiff roller blind with many holes in, allowing in significant amounts of light. The main bedroom houses the loudest running boiler ever ( every hour it does a cycle and wakes the whole flat up...) There was only one plug socket by the side of the bed.
We managed to stand on a floor board nail in the main bedroom which had come through the carpet. One clothing rail isn't enough for 2 bedrooms. The master bed is a king size.. with a double duvet.
- Ruthie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tien (9/5): Superb - Really spacious apartment and nicely decorated. Kitchen was well equipped with all the cooking utensils and pot and pans and even had an oven. It was warm and bright and sunny. There is a water heater in the master bedroom and it does make a bit of noise during the night but you get used to it.
- Laura (8/5): Great to have plenty of space to enjoy weekend away without the limitations of a hotel. - Quick response from host, upon arrival double bed was not made up but it was explained that they were aware of issue and would sort out. Left chocolates & snacks for inconvenience and was sorted early evening. Lots of stairs to get to top floor flat but very quiet once there. Hot water was a bit temperamental and bathroom was internal but had adequate ventilation.
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muhammad (9/5): Superb -
- Sasha (7/5): Nice flat, just a few things that would have made it even better - Spacious, bright and good location. Didn't even mind the stairs to top flat that is not mentioned when booking but elderly or infirm may have great difficulty. Should be highlighted. Beds were comfortable. Easy access to flat with no hassle and prompt communication with owner. Given a mobile number incase required for someone local. Never needed to call. Nice quiet area. The stairs to climb didn't bother us but the dirty glasses that had clearly been used as ashtrays by folk before us certainly did. Disgusting. The kitchen was lovely but there is a distinct lack of utensils and cutlery to be able to cook and eat properly. I let the owner know and they said thanks. I initially didn't think it would be an issue but 1 spoon between 4 became tricky. The living room blind fell off as was all twisted which we fixed. Might be helpful to let guests know with a to-do list what is required before departure. We stripped beds, cleaned and emptied bin. Oh and hoovered too. The flat was clean and presentable on first look but looking closer the tap bases were grimey and cleaned quickly obviously. The boiler is noisy in the main bedroom so the 1st night sleep was minimal. We turned the heating to manual, was hot anyway! So easily sorted. Perhaps some local info in a folder would be nice?
- Kimberley (3/5): Dirty, and poor standard of care - Very helpful and communicative service when booking, and on arrival. When we experienced issues with the hot water Mark came round straight away. The flat was tidy, but not cleaned. The listing states it is cleaned professionally and disinfected - this was not the case for our stay. Someone left a plate full of breakfast in the dishwasher until it went mouldy, so when we opened it is stank of vomit! The glasses, cuttlery and plates were filthy, we had to hand wash them all. The fridge was full of food and dirty we had to clean this too. The microwave had splattered food all over it. A lot of old food left in the cupboards from previous stays. The bathroom mirror speckled with toothpaste, and an inch of musky water in the toothbrush holder. A tablet found on the living room floor (not great when you have a toddler) and a used vape behind the sofabed.
When I gave this feedback to Mark he agreed this was "not acceptable" - there was no apology, offer to come back and clean or put things right.
I made the booking for 4 adults & 1 child, however the sofabed was not made up ready for us. Linda said she would come round with the sheets/bedding for this. When I text to remind her she completely ignored me. My family slept without sheets/pillow cases which is gross for us and future guests!
On the last day I messaged Mark explaining our dissatisfaction with the standard of cleanliness and care, as well as the frustrating hot water problems, and asked for a resolve, I was completely ignored.
- Liz (10/5): The perfect home away from home! - Wet comfortable space. We had the ability to do laundry and cook onsite which helped at the end of a long day travelling around. The property was fine for us but would warn there are a lot of stairs!
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (7/5): Great beds, helpful host when we accidently left our camera. good central location - the flat was on the top floor which was not mentioned in the blurb about it. We are elderly and one of us uses a walking stick . the stairs were very difficult for my husband who is in his 80,s. The flat was fine but we would not have booked it if we had known .
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Good apartment, good location, enough space for a family of 4. Neighbour knocked on door late to come for a drink lol, smoke in close wasn't normal smoke.
Master bedroom window blind fell off first time we opened the window.
- Lisa (10/5): Great stay with everything we needed for a few days away - Very modern, clean and comfortable. Great location for travelling back and forth to Gourock ferry terminal for the Cowal Gathering. Good communication with owner and straight forward easy check in.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (8/5): Great stay, would definitely stay here again. - Very nice property, very clean, spacious and excellent amenities with the TV, coffee machine and dishwasher etc. Great location. It was quite hot at night time, the windows don’t open that wide so a fan would have been great.
- Kirstie (10/5): Fab . - Quiet , private 3 flights of stairs lol
- Amir (9/5): Superb - Overall the accommodation was excellent It was on the top floor, but not bad
- John (8/5): A successful first family trip with our little boy. - Location and facilities were great. Easy access to local amenities and within walking distance of most area such as restaurants, train station etc. My sister lives in Greenock and her apartment was a very short walk away which made it very handy. Didn't notice when booking that it was a second floor apartment which had no lift so we had to carry the baby up and down the stairs and fold his buggy each time we entered or left the apartment. This was only a small inconvenience though. Heating wasn't working properly when we got there due to thermostat issue but owner had an electrician around within minutes of notifying him and got it sorted straight away. Again a minor inconvenience as we git sorted so quickly.
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - the apartment was fantastic, lovely, clean and cozy and beds were comfortable. the kitchen had everything we needed with a great coffee machine that we used alot.
we would definitely recommend for other families and if visiting area again will definitely book again if available. thanks we liked everything about the apartment from the decor to the size. was perfect.
- Scott (6/5): Pleasant - Good location very modern No oven so unable to cook meals. Advised owner on arrival but never got sorted
