Guest Reviews
- CLAUDIA (9/5): - El lugar estuvo muy bien, limpio, cocina compartida bien equipada, agua filtrada, terraza, habitación amplia, cama comoda, baño privado, personal muy amable El internet es muy lento
- xu (9/5): - Hotel Luna is conveniently located on the quiet south side of the village right across the road from the scenic Natural Reserve, about 5 minutes walk from the public boat dock and village central. The room has a great view of the lake and mountains, specifically during the morning and evening times, the view from the spacious rooftop patio (adjacent to a well equipped and shared large kitchen) is stunning. The room is very clean with a comfy bed and strong shower. The host Ms. Erminda and her daughter are very kind, attentive, and extremely prompt and helpful in communications (always within hours) to address questions and assist their guests settling in and feeling comfortable. The well paved winding mountain road in front of the hotel leading to the next village San Pablo attracts morning and evening joggers. The guests staying in the hotel are quiet and low-key travellers. I highly recommend this great place, and I plan to get back here annually.
- Henrike (7/5): Pragmatic place to stay in San Marcos, but relax elsewhere - It's on the edge of town, but within walking distance from everything in San Marcos. The room with balcony was nice and bright and had everything in it, even a little desk and a lockable drawer. In a shared kitchen on the rooftop you can get drinking water and prepare your own meals. Low-budget friendly. It was very noisy as my room was facing out to the street, where tukuks and trucks are coming up the last curve of a hill in first gear. Also internally you could hear your neighbors' (who seem to be longer-term guests working in town) activities quite well.
There is (a limited amount) of hot water in the shower and especially washing long hair is challenging.
- Luis (10/5): Calidad-precio indiscutible.

- Kathryn (10/5): Off to the side, but excellent - Comfortable room with nice bed and cozy linens. Balcony and exterior windows. Lots of outlets and lighting options. Shower heater works well. Private bathroom is clean and pleasant. Most everything in the room seems pretty new. Shelving and desk in room, as well as nightstand with locking drawers. Friendly owner works hard to keep this place clean and pleasant. The shared kitchen in the large rooftop terrace is huge and well stocked. Water is provided. Shared bathrooms seem to be on each floor, including the terrace. There are windows (locked) to adjoining rooms and noise could be an issue. It wasn't for my stay, but if you want sound proof... A bedside lamp and wall hooks in bathroom and room would be great additions. It would also be good to add an interior only lock to the guest rooms. Some guests will leave a bit of a kitchen mess, but it's always gone in the morning. There wasn't anything that I didn't like, I just like a full review when I'm searching and assume others do, too.
- Stacey (7/5): - Honestly, I just needed a place to store my stuff because I was going on an overnight trip. And it was still there the next day and they were super accommodating when I was an hour late getting back. So for my needs it was 9/10 and great value. But I probably wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying there as a solo traveler.

- Olivia (6/5): Good location with comfy beds but cold showers and bad WiFi - Good location, comfy beds & friendly staff No hot water in the showers, the floors looked like they needed a good clean.
Paper thin walls which meant disrupted sleep
WiFi was terrible

- David (8/5): Overall the stay went well - Nice room outside the center. They also have a kitchen on the rooftop, which is well equiped. So I want to point out a few things that could be dealbreakers fior some people :
1. The is no reception or staff on site. You need to contact them via Whatsapp when you get there and someone will eventually come to greet you.
2. San Marcos is known for being a hippie hub. Which is fine. At least one guest was burning incense in the hotel, a lit on incense, and since I am not used it, I found it quite disturbing, as the smell was really strong. He kept his door opened while burning incense. This is where having someone in site to control what happens in the establishment makes a difference.

- Anonymous (10/5): Not to far walk from centre of town so not as noisy and lovely green all around. - I was upgraded to a room with a balcony for free by the loveliest staff member. The use of the kitchen was very helpful in saving costs on meals.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alana (4/5): Very hot but large rooms - The bed was a good size, as was the room. For the price it was good. The property is very hot. Pretty much no windows open in any rooms and there are no fans. There’s also windows that back onto people’s rooms, of which the curtains sit in other people’s rooms and not the bathroom itself so you never know if someone is going to open them while you’re showing. The least they could have would be fans in every room. The room and communal bathroom didn’t look all that clean, it was fine but our toilet bin wasn’t changed in the 3 nights we stayed and was overflowing by the end of it, there were two other rooms sharing the same bathroom. The kitchen area is very small and other guests weren’t cleaning up after themselves which is definitely on the guest, however the hosts also didn’t do a daily or even weekly clean of the fridge or the kitchen area. The fridge smelt extremely bad and had heaps of food stains and stuck all over its inside. I can look past a lot of these things as just being life backpacking, however the one thing I wish they had was portable fans in the rooms.
- Monzon (9/5): I’d come back again! - I had a great spacious private room with a view! Gorgeous ✨ Walls are pretty thin, felt a bit uncomfortable at times….
- Stefanie (2/5): Disappointing experience - The location is outside the city center and close to an event venue where I attended an event. They allowed me to leave my luggage early in their lobby. They didn't know which room I had booked. I left my luggage early with them and when I came back at 2PM, the room wasn't ready yet. When I came back from my event at 7:30PM, the room wasn't clean and they hadn't provided towels or soap there. They urged me to pay them and I went to the cajero in the center of the pueblo. The room is quite dark because it is built into the hill and the hill covers most of the window. The internet didn't even have 1 mbps speed - impossible to work from there. The kitchen has no running water and is quite dirty. They were by far the most unfriendly hosts who I met in the 3 weeks that I stayed at the lake. I think, for the same price, you can find much better options.
- Marie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Moritz (7/5): Good - Good price, friendly people, big en suite room. Very good for a nigh passing. For a night passing through it's great value.
For staying a big longer the room needs to have more features. Maybe some hooks or hangers, somewhere to put things also in the bathroom.
When I arrived in the afternoon the room was still occupied by the prior person
- Kirk (9/5): Excellent value in a very clean establishment. - Cleanliness, friendly accommodating hosts. I enjoyed the rooftop patio with shared kitchen there. I was able to hang my laundry on the patio next to the hammock. The kitchen only had one broken cup. I think other guests may have taken cups to their rooms. My room was windowless.
- Dimitar (3/5): Poor - It’s a cheap place. During my 4-night stay, I changed rooms and noticed that the sheets were not changed between guests. To confirm, I did a small experiment. In my new room, the previous guest was a blonde girl, and after taking her room, I kept finding blonde hairs in my bed. When I later checked the room I had just left, I found the bed neatly made - but with the same sheets I had used. If you choose to stay here, I highly recommend requesting fresh sheets upon arrival.
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vojtab (8/5): Very good - The price and comfort was good. I wasn't able to cancel my night (but I knew it before). Only thing is I ordered double bed for couple but got single bad for one person. There is shelf or wardrobe missing. There wasn't water going out while I did my Check in for almost two hours..but it is problem almost everywhere.
- Justė (9/5): Superb -
- Brenda (9/5): I would return and was grateful for Mariana's Petit Hotel. - Victor came to pick me up from the airport. My luggage had gotten lost for a while. Victor was extremely patient. I learned to always use a carry-on and not accept Jet Blues offer to take my bag. I did retrieve it but not without a lot of stress. This was going to Guatemala. Marianna's Petit Hotel remained patient during the anxious moment. It was good as a woman traveling alone. The room itself was nothing fancy but as an overnight safety zone it was fine. Clean water was provided. I recommend having some snacks in your room if arriving late. The best part was the delicious breakfast I was provided with in the morning. Then my shuttle came right to the hotel to pick me up and I didn't even need to wait outside. For the price of this hotel you will be well cared for. Remember to ask for the Wi-fi address everywhere you go. I did not remember this at first. Perhaps the room could have been a bit cleaner but there was so much else good that I was fine.
- Wellens (5/5): New, inexpensive but strange layout - The lady staff, when they were there. The rooftop Staff rarely there, water keeps running out, room windows poorly designed to look on corridors or bsthrooms
- Hollie (7/5): Good -
- Jacob (10/5): Clean quiet hostel - Newer clean building friendly staff No issues
- Ron (1/5): horrible. just a sorry from workers for not having windows even though we booked a with windows. - location was ok. promised a view window and no windows outside in room. thin curtains others could see through. windows to stariways where others could look in even with curtains because they were so thin.
- Karen (8/5): It was okay - You can tell is practically new, still in construction. Bed clothes were new. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Personnel were flexible and kind. Good price No hand soap in the bathrooms, no toilet paper in one of them. Rooms weren't super clean. Terrace can be improved with some furniture and cleaning.
- Chantal (5/5): Cheap, but very very noisy and not really clean - The kitchen was nice Our room was directly connected to another room with a window that could open. The other window opened on the alley. The bathroom of the room connected to us shone directly in our room and couldn’t be blocked. The whole building was very noisy. We could easily follow conversations of nearby rooms, even with earplugs in.
- Tijmen (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (6/5): The staff were nice, the place is a bit of a walk up from the town centre, ambience is lacking and it’s noisy. Overall i - It has a little kitchen where you can prepare your own food It’s right on the Main Street going into town so there’s always a lot of traffic noise and the house is quite noisy, too. Sleeping with earphones is essential.
- Rebecca (4/5): Disappointing. Yet very cheap - Lovely women who own it / work there
The room was dark, so slept well in the morning
The shower had hot water
Very cheap so good for travellers on a budget
The room was very big The walls were PAPER THIN. Not just could we hear the external noise (which we're used to) but we literally heard the man in the room next to us phlegm and spit in the sink, fart, and every word of his 7am phone call.
There are also connecting windows between the private rooms, so any time in the middle of the night that your neighbour goes to the bathroom, you get woken up by the light!!!
There were no external windows so the room felt like a cave. The lighting was so bright and stark it felt very clinical.
This hotel is new but it opened before it was ready. It was built cheaply and you can tell. Even in the bathroom there are holes where the building work is clearly unfinished. The rooftop has potential but at the moment there is a basic kitchen and a hammock (but with investment it could look nice).
The location isn't too bad but it's still a 10 minute walk into town and you have to come back up the hill.
- Alexander (10/5): It was an amazing place to stay in San Marcos -
- April (6/5): its ok - location. big spacious rooms
- Carolin (10/5): Exceptional - The room was big, the bed confy. The owner of the house really nice. Even so its at the end of the town, its still not long of a walk to the center (10 minutes)
- Aldas (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious room. Good sized comfortable double bed. But to sum up the prices per night i paid, is the only point why i put 10, closing my eyes to disadvantages
- Matas (8/5): Good choice - New hotel, great beds, good WiFi, private rooms with own bathroom, kind receptionist Location was not the best...
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are big and clean with little balcony and nice view. There is also a kitchen with all the things for cooking. Staff is very nice. Location is next to the road so sometimes it is bit noisy but nothing terrible. For the price super nice place to stay in San Marcos.
