Guest Reviews
- Jakub Řeháček (9/5): - The host, Lucas, was extremely helpful and friendly. The living arrangement felt very cozy and quiet. The surrounding area is very nice and full of greenery. There is also everything one might need for cooking. Absolutely great.
- Michelle (8/5): Overnight stay - Very convenient for a short stay and close to the centre of town. Host was lovely and house it kept beautifully. If staying for more than one night parking could be an issue
- Damian (3/5): Student accomodation where the guests do not have a car and are prepared to shared all facilities - Location was good The shared bathroom is difficult if you get up in the night.
Parking is a nightmare with free parking from 6.30pm till 8.30 am. Getting parking outside that time is really expensive and difficult to set up.
No TV in room.
- linda (10/5): Lovely Cork - Lucy's is amazing so so helpful
The room was so
comfortable
And I loved the local area. The stairs but that's just me i have a bad knee
- Eileen (8/5): - Lucas was very helpful to let us in as I didn't have WiFi to look up the key code... It is hard to find with out wifi but that was our problem not the hosts.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Unique, luxurious guest house near the centre of Cork! - Fern House is an absolutely lovely guest house very close to the centre of Cork, super convenient to walk down the hill to loads of restaurants. The house was beautifully decorated and clean; the common spaces were luxurious and spacious. The kitchen and facilities were well maintained and easy to use. Lucas was very helpful and warm! I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this guest house to friends and family!

- Gordana (10/5): - Nice accommodation, clean, comfortable beds, cosy. The shared bathroom is great, impecable. The shared kitchen is very convenient and well equipped. \
- Rosemary (9/5): - excelente

- Caoimhe (8/5): Good stay and nice place - Nice area, very quiet with good amenities. Went early April and was a little bit cold in the room at night but there were extra blankets and pillows in the closet. Plenty of sockets and very good amount of storage as well as a desk and 2 chairs in the room. Strong wifi also.
The bathroom and shared spaces were clean as well as the room itself (room number 4).
Felt very safe in the area. There seemed to be parking spaces in front of the terrace and there were restaurants and cafés within a 5 minute walk. The city was about a 15 minute walk and there were buses too.
Overall good location, facilities and easy to understand check-in instructions. Was a little cold as the window didnt seem to close properly and the radiator didn't work.
The property would not be accessible for someone with mobility issues (lots of stairs to get to the building).
1 bathroom was a bit inconvenient but not awful.
The room was a bit small.

Lukas keeps a very nice house and is very helpful and accomodating. I have a back injury so steps upbto the house but that is to be expected in Cork

Lovely room, bathroom spotless
Great communication from host Nothing

- Danielle (10/5): Fantastic place for a tourist or a quick getaway. - This place is really close to town, very comfortable, even has a nice space to watch TV in the cold months and a full kitchen and conservatory. An amazing bathroom and soft towels. The hosts are very knowledgeable about how to get around. Nothing. Would highly recommend.
- Michael (9/5): - Convenient, clean, comfortable and good value
- Conheady (10/5): - What can I say . IMPECCABLE. Classy, relaxed. I would say its best described as a small luxurious hostel, with maybe 6-8 rooms. This place is self catering, clear instructions on how to access were given and you can just toddle about the communal areas , you can cook a dinner in the kitchen, do laundry , enjoy the cosy clean setup. I spent the evening in the lovely cosy tv room and there was a beautiful christmas tree, blankets and complementary hot chocolate tea and coffee. Also a massive tv with all apps on it. You can go about your business as you wish, no one else came in the whole evening to use the tv room. It is like a very elegant hostel. AND ITS A STEAL great value.
I didn't see any other guests and I met the host once (i think it was the host it may have been another guest), just when i was struggling to get in the door because i had all my bags. They didnt linger and its very much like the hostel stye thing of ... just someone being there in case you need them.
Of course there were other guests in the house but all very quite. Perfect for if you are working in cork and need a place to stay for the night honestly.
Only drawback is on street parking. But the quality of the place made up for it and I got a spot close by on the street. NOTHING

- Tony (7/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Very nice house. Very comfortable room. -
- Donal (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely ambience, cosy, quiet street, easy walk - Loved being up high on the hill on a relatively quiet road. Lovely old fashioned house, and cosy single room
- Glenn (10/5): -
- Eoin (8/5): A lot cardio between the stairs and other stuff - Very stable bed The stairs

- Timmy (10/5): -
- Marie (10/5): - The most comfortable bed, luxury duvet and linens! Beautiful room, clean. The best sleep I've had in ages! Great location and friendly host.
- Emma (8/5): - The check in experience (through email) was efficient and helpful. The location was good, 1.4km to City Hall which is where we were going. Comfortable room with private bathroom on the top floor. I would stay here again for a quick night away to Cork. Just a note to say if you struggle with stairs then this lovely place is not for you.
- Richard n Pam (5/5): -
- Svitlana (9/5): -
- Doug (10/5): - The young lady who runs the place, Iona, went out of her way to help us load a parking app. The place has a great kitchen and a room to relax in. The room was small, but maintained well.
- Maria Lorena (10/5): - Estamos muy muy satisfechos y enormemente agradecidos. La casita es absolutamente preciosa y adorable. Súper limpia y decorada elegantemente
Muchísimas gracias y felicidades a los anfitriones
- Jacqueline (6/5): - Very clean and nicely renovated end unit in a series of six row houses.
Friendly owner.
About 15 minutes walk to Cork's Victorian Quarter with many dining choices.
We did not use the shared kitchen but it is an appealing option, especially for longer visits. We understand the appeal for younger folks, but as other reviewers have suggested, less suitable for seniors such as ourselves.
• Google Maps directed us to Fern House via the very narrow Middle Glanmire Road which we recommend avoiding; it should have taken about 4 minutes but in heavy traffic requiring constant pulling over, took us 25.
• House is up a level from the street, took us several trips around to figure out Google Maps' "You have arrived!".
• The row of houses is conveniently accessible by stairways at each end, but I felt unsafe carrying bags up and down, even with the handrail.
• We were surprised to learn "parking" as indicated within "most popular facilities" meant a parkade 15 minutes walk away. We did find on street parking about 200m away but had to move our car after dinner.
• We had not realized that our second floor room did not have a private bathroom. The shared bathroom was down several steps to a small landing, then up a few more steps. During our stay, it was rarely unoccupied, even in the middle of the night, so we opted to go down to the first floor to use the toilet, brush our teeth evening and morning. Suggest disposable towels be available.

- Hayley (10/5): Lovely property - Great location. Lovely house and lovely room. Would deffo stay again Nothing loved it all
- JD (9/5): - Hosts were very nice and the house interior was beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and its a lovely change of pace from hotels, highly recommend. its a little bit of a walk from the city centre not too far tho
- James (10/5): - No hassle. Very easy to check in and out. Owner was there to answer questions if needed via text
- john (8/5): - Nice room, nice shared bathroom
- Min (10/5): Excellent - The description is accurate and the place is clean and cozy. The kitchen and washer/dryer are very convenient. The two young owners are extremely friendly. I had some trouble to book my train tickets and they enthusiastically helped me to get the problem resolved.
- Melissa (10/5): Cozy & comfy stay! - Lovely place! It’s very cozy and located in a very cute neighborhood. My Mom and I had one of the top rooms with private bathroom and it was clean and comfy (some rooms do share a bathroom). Lovely and friendly hosts (Ciaran and Iona), they answered our messages quickly before arriving and had clear instructions on how to get there. Lots of local shops and bus stops nearby too! Thanks again! The only thing to keep in mind about the location, is that it might not be the best for senior travelers due to the steep hills around. So it’s not a negative thing, but something to know when you’re making plans. Also request ground floor rooms if you’re traveling with seniors.

- franco (9/5): Ottima sosta - Posizione ottimale, bell'edificio storico,. Camera completa ma piccola.

- Grace (8/5): Very pleasant. Good for solo. - Self check in is very easy. I didn't use the communal spaces but they are nice and welcoming. The house is decorated very stylishly. The location is quiet but near enough to walk to the town.
The window in the bedroom opened so I fould let in some cool air. The temperature in the house was perfect. A note should be added to the check in docs to say that lifting the handle will ALSO double lock the door so not to do that. At the moment it only says not to turn the latch on the front door. It's possible to get locked out, or to lock out another guest if someone makes that mistake.
The bed linen and towels are navy which are stylish, but in guest accommodation I prefer white to know that everything is clean.
Overall there was no major negatives and I would very happily stay here again.
- Hilde (9/5): - well kept nice house, great interior decorating and very clean, 15mn walk from Cork center, super nice couple hosts.
- Mikhail (9/5): - Staff was very nice and room and bathroom were clean and comfortable Nothing
- Jordan (9/5): - Comfy and cozy, you'll feel right at home here. Hard to find (Google map got me close enough to ask a neighbor exactly where it was; Uber didn't have a clue).
