Guest Reviews

- Leroy van den Broek (8/5): - I liked everything in The Sylvia, the location was great, the people were very nice and we also had free access to the Bruce (their sister company) where we swim a couple of times. We rented a place for our own which was a small house, we had good wifi, hot water, and everything else we needed. The only thing I didn't like was there is this placed called The Wave nearby. There will be loud music throughout the week and in the weekend until 2 AM so if you want to rest in the weekend that's not really possible. This is coming from someone who is very sensitive to sounds.

- Stefanie (10/5): -
- Julia Mae (10/5): - Its location is perfect. It's near to cafes and restaurants as well as the JJ'S Backpacker Village for night life. There staff were also friendly.

- Mency (10/5): - I like that the room I booked was big for the two of us. I can use the kettle, fridge, and utensils. I can even cook if I wanted to. The shower head needs some fixing. Good thing, there was a bucket and dipper.

- Amanda (10/5): - We had an excellent stay at The Sylvia! The property was really nice and had everything we needed from soap, shampoo, green tea/coffee, kettle, drinking water, etc. It was next door to a convenience store and a delicious local food stall, as well as a motorcycle rental place, which was perfect for exploring Siquijor. The WiFi signal was super strong, even in the room, which was nice.
The best part of this place is you can walk across the road and use the facilities at The Bruce free of charge. Their beach is absolutely stunning and amazing for sunset! The pool with a Waterfall feature was also really refreshing to take a dip in!
- Filippo (10/5): - Personale gentile, camera e bagno spaziosi, camera, lenzuola e asciugami puliti(no macchie) zona centrale Niente
- Loriela (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): - Quiet place, nice room, spacious, clean. No hot water 😥. With hot water the place would have been totally perfect.
- Daniela (9/5): Agradable y conveniente - La habitación espaciosa y tranquila, personal amable. Nada
- Lomasang (10/5): my siquijor stay - love the people and the quite vibe the sylvia offers....
affordable and walking distance to paliton and jjs backpackers...
you can also check the bruce resort ..also part of their business network... it offers beach access, restaurant.. and sunset view all goods.
Kun kold vand i badet.
- Emily (4/5): - good size room, lockers in room no ac, no toilet seat, shower water pressure was atrocious, no curtains on beds

- Jobelle (8/5): An awesome, memorable, value for money, budget friendly stay. - The location is really good. It’s nearby restaurants and bars to choose from, ATM, Spa, groceries, and the beach! The access to The Bruce is a huge Bonus. The Family Room is decent enough. We had our own clean private toilet with bidet, kitchenette, provision of drinking water, thank you very much! Beds are comfy, and its really spacious. I like how it’s accessible to the places you want but also peaceful in the night when you need a good rest from your day that’s full of adventures. Beautiful Siquijor. There’s no AC. They are very generous to provide 3 fans but there are days/nights that feel so hot and humid. Having AC would make it perfect.
- Cristina (7/5): A decent place to stay - Great location. The woman working there is very helpful and provides indications on services around. Good size room with air-con. Free water and access to kitchen. No toilettries. Not big of a problem for me but beware that some of the rooms are on a first floor with no lift.
- Maikela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (9/5): Superb - Staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped sort out scooters for 350 a day and a tuk tuk to the port for 350. Great quiet location set in trees. We booked 3 beds in a 6 bed dorm and were given a 4 bed dorm just for us with ensuite. Which was large enough that you could use the shower without wetting the toilet. There was also a water dispenser and kettle in the dorm room, plus some free coffee, sugar, soap, toothpaste and shampoo.
There was a well stocked shared kitchen to use with clean fridge and freezer.
Would definitely stay again. In fact wish we'd stayed longer.
Also great shop just by the entrance. There is some construction going on but they are very considerate and don't start early.
- Florian (9/5): Superb - NO Warmwater in the dorm and i heave to hold the shower head and cant put it on the wall
- Maja (1/5): Bad - There were chickens and pecoks screaming exactly outside the window. No air condition and a man smoking weed exactly outside the window. Then there was a generator sounding the loudest I’ve ever heard in the middle of the night. The sound made the whole house shake and there was no staff to help us, so we needed to walk to bruces (an other hotel) and get help from there in the middle of the night. We didn’t want to stay and the staff told us we would get the money back, but we didn’t. We have been in contact with booking for a long time and nothing happens.
- Nikoleta (8/5): Very good - Close to Paliton beach, San Juan beach and many restaurants
- Daniele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yotam (10/5): Felt at home:) - Very homey and spacious, and the design of the entrance is beautiful! Staff very friendly and overall good experience The mattress in the dorm is very soft which was a bit annoying for my back but not a big deal
- Güntert (7/5): Need Renovation , but okay For the room rate - The Location ist very good and staff is friendly Its Time For Renovation , but i think thats why the price was inexpensive
- Adelina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raymund (10/5): Wow Slvia - Sylvia provided a wonderful experience from start to finish. The room was beautifully appointed and incredibly comfortable. I would definitely stay here again! Nothing because everything was perfect!
- Lance (8/5): Good location great staff - Access to the beach and pool at the Bruce.
The staff were great No hot water
- Amber (8/5): Very good - Staff were very friendly and helpful, helped us to book ferry tickets to our next destination. We rented a moped from the hotel which was a reasonable price and had laundry done for 80 per kg. The room was very spacious with 2 fans and a water dispenser. There was a lovely garden area with chairs to sit outside. The hotel was a short walk to restaurants along a main road. We had access to the sister hotel and used their pool and beach area. Would benefit from a small fridge. Cold shower
- Sandrynne (8/5): Happy - It is easy to access and near restaurants and resorts I hope it can be upgraded to an air conditioned room and more security on the door
- Laura (9/5): Superb - The rooms are very spacious and clean. It's located nestled between restaurants and close to the beach. You can even use the pool of Bruce's resort. Espescially for the price it was really perfect. The outdoor area could be a bit more maintained.
- Windell (7/5): Good - The location and the staff The place is kinda old and renovation was on going while we were staying
- Meisterke (6/5): Pleasant -
- Shirley (8/5): Very good - Big clean room. Nice staff. Good location. Didn't think much of the beach at the Bruce
- Migz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elma (4/5): Disappointing -
- Anilef (7/5): Good - I like that it is located near the beach and restaurants along the way. People are very friendly and accomodating. Very peaceful place. I just would like to suggest if you could have rooms with AC, its gonna be more comfortable.
- Fresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aisling (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carly (9/5): Amazing little stay in Siquijor - This is one of the best places we have stayed for the price. The room was big and spacious in a good location. The access to the Bruce just amazing - considering a lot of the beaches appear private, it was so nice to have this offer to relax on the beach and in the pool. For the price, this was just outstanding. The only negative is the room is dated and had some ants by the end of our stay, but again, this didn’t impact it as we are in a tropical country and you would be silly not to expect this sometimes.
- Jadyn (10/5): Lovely place - The property was nicely tucked away from the main road. Feels like you’re staying in a resort but for a very affordable price. The beds are soo comfortable and many fans make the room cooler N/A
- Kirsty (1/5): Bad - good location, friendly staff electrical wires hanging out in the shower, sink broken and flooding bathroom, no curtains so all light comes into the room and motorbikes showing up late into the night. quite noisy
- Cherie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberta (7/5): Good - Big room, comfortable bed, water refil station inside the room, friendly staff. its not a social place, good option if you re traveling with friends.
they don't clean the room and bathroom everyday.
- Camacho (9/5): Superb -
- Herman (8/5): Big comfortable cottages near the beach - Very big and comfortable cottages at 5 minutes walking from the beach Although I knew there was no aircon, in April it was very very hot despite two fans
- Urgel (10/5): Staff were very accommodating! Should I ever come back in Siquijor, I'd still stay at The Sylvia's - Very warm and friendly staff! We had a free access to Bruce's Resort which has an amazing pool and beach. The room was spacious and there were a lot of electric fans which made our stay much more comfortable.
- Mike (8/5): Very good - It had access to a pool and the beach was nearby and beautiful at sunset
- Roisin (9/5): Great simple accommodation with access to beautiful private beach - I stayed here for 4 nights and loved my stay. It is a little dated and tired looking but was generally comfy and clean and was great value. The accommodation is peaceful as is set away from the road. The family are friendly and helpful. The highlight of this accommodation is access to the Bruce across the road - beautiful quiet beach perfect for watching the sunset. Would stay again! The wardrobes/cupboards smelt musty. The toilet didn’t flush well.
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Ray (1/5): Poor - Nothing apart from leaving the place The room is in desperate need of renovation !!
- Anja (9/5): Superb - The staff was nice
The room was huge and clean
- Vaida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Digal, (8/5): Nice place to atay.. - Worth the peso.. Highly recommended Water interruption sometime electrixity
- Loc (10/5): Very nice place to stay for solo travel. Cheap and good dorm - Very nice place. Frienfly staff, nice location, can visit the resort nearby as it belongs to the same owner. The room is big enough to feel comfortable. They give you soap and toilet paper when you first checked in
- Carli (6/5): Staff were lovely, rooms were a little rundown it seemed. The place has alot of potential :) -
- Eva (7/5): Super worrh it for the price - It was a big room witb water dispenser. Quiet and just next to the main road Was basic
- Mercado (10/5): My problem is aircondition that's all.everything is good. - The place is good I don't like no aircondition can't sleep until morning when it's cold.
- Ingrid (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly staff, good location, quiet, good for being so cheap. They didn't clean the room for days, until asked, because of ants. But given it was Christmas, I don't know if this is normal for them or not. Bathroom got very dirty and trashbins full. They only had a few outlets for people to use, and everyone kept moving the fans around, a little tricky if the dorm is full.
- Irene (7/5): Good -
- Giulia (8/5): Very good - Really nice staff and good beds, the entrance is on the Main Street but once inside you feel like in a village :) a plus, lots of books to read! Maybe I came in the wrong time, but as a solo traveler who wants to meet people is maybe not the best
- Robert (10/5): For groups - Very high quality of service, very pleasant and friendly staff, full access to the kitchen, wonderful place, down the stairs and you are in the center Super
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - We are bagpackers and we travel since 3 months. For the first time, we feel at home. The room is very spacious, the bed comfortable and the cleanliness incroyable! Also, there is a big water hack in the room, a fan and a mosquito net on the window. Shower water is cold but isn't not a problem for us. On the other hand, it is slightly cut with water.
The location is really great, there are a lot of shops around. A big bonus : we have access to the swimming pool of the hotel opposite because it is the same owner.
A big thank you to the team!
- Lia (5/5): Passable -
- Lorri (10/5): Exceptional - Loved my private room. Clean, great wifi, peaceful, and all the staff is so friendly and helpful. There’s drinking water in the room, a kitchen for guests to use, and the location is great. You can access the beach at the The Bruce across the street as they are jointly owned. Restaurants, coffee shops, stores, kayak and SUP rental, and beautiful beach sunsets are all within walking distance. Stayed for a week and highly recommend.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Cristina (3/5): Surprised about the good feedback :S - The room was big , the location is ok Where to start…
- The bathroom stinks all the time
- Only cold water and it taste and feels like salt water
- Lots of insects in the room all the times, the mosquito nets from the windows are full of holes.
- Ceiling full of spider webs (with their corresponding spiders)
- Garbage from previous guests in the toilet bin (?)
- For a stay of 4 nights, they give you 1 towel and 1 roll of toilet paper. We had to go 3 times to reception to ask for more.
- The fan makes an awful noise, but without it you can’t sleep.
- The bed linen was smaller than the bed so every night the mattress protector will end up in the floor.
- Obviously no room service at all.
- Two blackouts while being in the hotel , they turned on the generator that’s right next to the room so you can hear it even with ear plugs and a pillow in the face.
- You have a small kitchen with glasses, plates and cutlery. Everything veeeery very dirty (even with food) and things like the kettle or the water dispenser don’t work.
- Wifi doesn’t work and there is no line either. When the wifi works is very slow and stops every minute.
I am probably forgetting few more xd
The price is low but I payed half the price in some places and I had 10 times best experience. Please avoid yourself the experience.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay for the price. Very clean and nice room. Nothing'
- Eleonora (9/5): We’ll surely come again! - second time there, and it feels like home! Like the quiet garden, very comfy bed, and free water! also there is a spare kitchen if you are tired from the restaurants :) But the best is the staff: very friendly, helpful, with good English and knowledge of the surroundings! And the internet is great, 80 Mbit, just wow! It seems a bit not yet restored after the pandemic: in our room there was only cold shower with a place for the heater. Guess just not yet replaced.
