Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): Home away from home - Very comfortable and tastefully decorated yet still retaining its traditional charm. The location could not be more central. The hosts arranged a good quality travel cot and high chair for our stay which was appreciated as we were travelling with a baby. We'd love to stay again.
- Alan (9/5): A spacious, very clean and well-located apartment. Good value for money. - Spacious, central location Noise from jet wash outside.
- Harry (10/5): Harry - Beautiful, spacious accomodation. Well situated on main street, offset from road. Chloe very helpful and hamper with food/milk very kind. Rooms spotless. Handy for eating places and everything within town. Nothing.
- Gunnar (9/5): Fantastisk - Läget och priset för att vara ”mitt i smeten”… Ngt smala trappor men det kunde man acceptera…
- Julie (10/5): Excellent stay - Welcome basket was a lovely touch. The property is immaculate and very well furnished. Great power showers and a well equipped kitchen The only downside and not a complaint is the street lights opposite the property shine directly into the lounge so the blinds had to be closed to be able to watch tv (yes it was December so dark at 4pm) but the blinds would not have needed to be closed as the lounge is on the first floor).
- Claire (10/5): Perfect for our family x - A beautiful house in the centre of town, walking distance to the train station and other restaurants, shops etc. Spotless clean, comfy beds and welcome hamper too! Thanks for a lovely stay x Nothing x
- Fiona (10/5): Gorgeous absolutely stunning 5 Star + - Everything it was beautiful It was all amazing no faults at all
- Nick (10/5): Elegant, comfortable, well furnished apartment with excellent facilities - No breakfast provided as apartment but lovely welcome box. Location superb. Nothing
- Jane (10/5): Absolutely fabulous - Location excellent. Good instructions to find it. A bit hidden from the road so park where they advise then walk to find it. Nothing
- Catherine (10/5): -

- Norma (10/5): Very comfortable stay and presentation imaculate. - The property was welcoming and decorated with taste. The bathrooms were modern and the kitchen well fitted out and spacious. The lounge was very comfortable and throughout the decor was exceptional. There was nothing to dislike about this Town House.
- Dianne (10/5): Clean, pleasant, comfortable house, close to everything - Clean, homely and comfortable. Close to buses, shops, restaurants, river and coastal walks. Goodies made a lovely welcome. Nothing
- Claire (9/5): Had a great holiday despite less sleep than normal. - Location is great, right on the high street and close enough to drive along the coast or up into Scotland for sightseeing etc. The house is beautifully decorated and clean. Welcome basket on arrival was much appreciated. Being on the high street there was lots of noise from workmen at late/ early hours eg: people clearing the market stalls at 11pm, bin collections at odd hours and the seagulls. So, if you are a light sleeper take earplugs and an eyemask as the bedrooms are light.
- NEIL (7/5): - House very well equipped. Front room noisy at night and sometimes in morning due to location on main street .
- Yvonne (10/5): Strothers House exceeded our all our expectations, would love to stay there again - We loved the house, it is beautifully decorated, spotless clean, great location, welcome basket with lovely produce, host Chloe was very helpful providing detailed information for our stay. There was nothing at all not to like, this property is outstanding
- Johann (10/5): - Sehr schönes Apartment, ganz zentral gelegen, geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Alles für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt vorhanden. Sogar für Frühstück wurde vorgesorgt. Bravo! Nichts.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jade (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable. - Upon arrival there was a welcome pack in the kitchen which we did not expect. That was very much appreciated. The place is central to the main amenities . It was clean and comfortable. We will be recommending it to friends and family when they visit. From Sue Falla and granddaughter Jade (from the Netherlands) -
- Leslie (10/5): Beautiful property in a great spot! - The property is beautiful and very comfortable!
- Kate (9/5): Clean spacious very comfortable & modern - Clean spacious very comfortable & modern Town centre location could be a bit noisy early morning
- Eleanor (10/5): Fabulous house in a very central location - Beautifully decorated and comfortable house in a central location . Sparklingly clean . The hosts left a generous welcome basket and communication was good . Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): Superb townhouse, highly recommended....... - This townhouse is stunning and you get to it through gates straight from the high street. We absolutely loved everything about the property. It was so very clean and furnished to a high standard. Loved the ornate mirrors and trinkets around the living room - just so luxurious...... The kitchen had be so well thought out and everything you could possibly need for your stay was there. The welcome hamper was a very welcome unexpected extra .... all in all, a great weekend stay - although would happily have stayed longer to explore more of the area. We would most definitely book again if we were looking to stay in the area. Thank you Chloe. N/A
- Dot (10/5): Beautiful apartment, modern and spacious. - Beautifully presented, spacious and clean. After the visit, after reading the other reviews again, I realised we should have been left a welcome pack. This would have been very useful, as there are very few facilities in the immediate area. No bakery,(except Greggs) no local convenience store, no off-licence, nowhere to get fresh fruit. We ended up with a few basics from B&M.
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely clean and spacious apartment in central location.
- Norman (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Top class stay, comfortable and homely - The property was in excellent condition with everything you would need.
A great welcome pack was left for us which was top notch.
It was so comfortable and the location was spot on having an elderly parent with us.
Thankyou so much for just perfect stay. Think the blinds in the main bedroom should be black out as the street lighting is on all night and made the bedroom very light.
Milk jug and fruit bowl would be a little request.
- Karen (9/5): Luxurious apartment with the "wow" factor! - Strother's Townhouse really has the "wow" factor! Beautifully presented (the photos don't really do it justice), spacious yet cosy and warm, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Perfect location on one of Berwick's main streets, next to the Town Hall (that does bring a little bit of street noise, but nothing to really disturb your sleep). Very generous welcome pack (not just milk and bread as you'd expect, but also butter, jam, eggs, cakes, biscuits, prosecco...), in addition to the usual toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, etc. Can't really fault the apartment at all! The only reasons I've marked it down slightly is because (a) we didn't get responses from the hosts to our questions/comments before or after our stay (although they did respond promptly to our one question during our stay), and (b) for a high-end rental, it would have been nice to have had toiletries provided.
- Anne (10/5): Gorgeous townhouse with everything you need - Everything! Nothing !
- Theresa (10/5): Great week in a lovely property and town - The property was really lovely. It was very clean and had everything we needed and the owners provided an excellent welcome pack. You could tell that a lot of thought had gone into the presentation of this property and the bathrooms were particularly good.
We loved walking round the town and down by the river as well as days out to Alnwick, Edinburgh and Bamburgh.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Home from home. - Visiting family in Berwick. Excellent location for our needs. Easy walk from train station. Felt like home from home. Fluffy towels. TV’s in every room.
- Lydia (10/5): Amazing we will be back! - Newly redecorated throughout ( would love to know who did the bathrooms - all 3 of them- they’re amazing!). Vast and comfortable, the photos don’t do it justice. Had a child in a travel cot and plenty of space in any room to fit this in this too. Only thing to consider is double room overlooks the main road in berwick ( but berwick is pretty quiet!) but didn’t bother us much. The bedrooms with single beds overlook the back and are very quiet.
- Sue (10/5): Beautiful, elegant accommodation in a central location - Good quality fixtures and fittings. Comfortable beds. We’ll equipped. Welcome basket was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Nothing, except perhaps the noisy seagulls waking us up each morning.😊
- Daniel (10/5): A fantastic place to stay and a great jumping off point for exploring the Northumberland coast. - Strother's Town House is a fantastic place to stay. It's a very comfortable house, recently refurbished, and the owners have made a real effort to make it homely with nice little touches like ornaments, cushions, Lowry prints (including one of Strother's Yard where the house is situated) and scented diffusers. Everything has been done to a high standard with comfortable beds and plenty of space for a family of four. The generous welcome basket was much appreciated and lasted for a good few days (also useful as the nearest supermarket is at least a 15-minute walk away on the other side of the river). There is a TV in each room, although we were lucky with the weather so were outside most days. Berwick itself is well placed for visiting the Northumberland coastline. We got buses everywhere, from the bus stop 5 minutes from the house, and visited Lindisfarne, as well as Bamburgh, Alnwick and Dunstanburgh castles. We also discovered the walk around the Berwick town walls, and the Lowry trail. Bridge Street is full of independent shops, bars and a micropub which serves local brews and real ale. All in all, a great place to stay. Highly recommend. Nothing, all was perfect and the hosts were responsive to any queries we had during our stay.
- Ian (9/5): Excellent modern accommodation, well located, loved it - Appreciated the groceries left for us - very nice Couldn't find instructions for induction stove top and clothes washer - but muddled through
- Colin (9/5): What a place! - Excellent find in the centre of Berwick. The house was appointed to an amazing standard throughout. The main bedroom had a beautiful en suite. 2 single bedrooms as well perfect for Children. For anyone looking to explore Berwick or use as a base for the surrounding area, you'll struggle to find better accommodation than this. Thoroughly recommend.
- Lesley (9/5): We had a lovely stay in a very beautiful comfortable house - Beautifully decorated, very clean, extra touches including a welcome pack, umbrellas, information leaflets and location
- R.j (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay in the area. - House was great,a character building but extremely modern and well equipped. Everything was spotless and the welcome hamper was much appreciated, thank you. At times the town was a little noisy but that can't be helped and there are bedrooms at the back of the house that are quieter.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - A FABULOUS WELCOME PACK WAS LEFT, SO SCRAMBLED EGGS ON TOAST FOR BREAKFAST THE FOLLOWING MORNING WITH A LARGE CUP OF TEA & CHOCOLATE BISCUITS.
THE WHOLE HOUSE WAS IMMACULATE, LARGE COMFY BED, HUGE FLUFFY TOWELS, WE CANNOT FAULT THE PLACE & WILL BE RETURNING VERY SOON - THANK YOU KEITH & CHLOE NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DISLIKE.
- Peter (10/5): Brilliant accommodation for a reasonable cost, with friendly hosts - Self catering, but a nice helpful welcome basket The weather!
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you for the welcome basket of goodies, it was very much appreciated. The apartment was first class.
- Sue (9/5): Awesome - Awesome stay. Clean, bright, spacious, warm, comfortable. Hosts were easy to communicate with. Milk and goodies box were a very very welcome bonus cos we could have a cuppa straight away. Bliss. Would very highly recommend.
- Norma (10/5): Exceptional - It is one of the best places we have stayed through booking.com. Beautifully furnished - a home from home. Helpful pre-arrival information from host (we enjoyed our birds eye view of 🐎 🐴 returning from Riding of the Bounds). A fabulous welcome pack of groceries and well-equipped kitchen with all we needed for an enjoyable week's stay.
- Sharon (10/5): Fantastic - The property was beautifully decorated throughout and had everything that you need on a break Nothing
- Wendi (10/5): Exceptional - What was not to like? A nice cozy place with everything you need to may your stay nice & relaxing 😊❤️ Carnt think of anything that we didn't like
- Adrian (10/5): Fantastic location, comfortable and highly recommended - This townhouse is ideally located within the town centre and surrounding areas. It has the highest standard of cleanliness, it is comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. We were initially a little worried about car parking, but needn’t have been. There is a drop off point outside of the house, and several long stay carparks nearby, free of charge.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this to others.
- Jackie (10/5): Really enjoyed our time here, lots to explore, and loads of history. - Very clean, comfortable and spacious The only thing missing for a family of tea drinkers, was a teapot!
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
- Hamilton19a (10/5): an amazing property and such value for monies - I simply could not believe how amazing this property was - I loved every thing about our stay and the fact the property was so very clean with every thing a modern home has to offer. I truly have no negative comments regarding this property

- Doyle (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was very high standard. Beautiful furnishings. Everything you would need on a holiday was supplied, eg towels, bedding, etc. The kitchen was stocked with essentials & they even left a welcome basket with some goodies. The apartment was spotlessly clean, with very comfortable chairs, couches & beds. Cannot find fault with the apartment. It was fantastic & I have recommended it to family & friends
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): A first rate holiday flat in an interesting town - A complimentary food basket had been thoughtfully provided - most welcome because of the lack of food shops right in the town centre. The location was so convenient for buses to places like Bamburgh and Lindisfarne, and for restaurants. Ideal for us without a car.
The flat was amazingly well equipped and fitted out, beds and seating so comfortable, beautifully decorated and very, very clean. It was quiet too. Highly recommended.
Berwick is a town with an interesting history, good museums and plenty of independent shops and cafes, and some fine old houses. Well worth exploring. Strother’s Townhouse is an excellent base.
- Nancy (10/5): 5 star Comfort - Such a beautifully furnished property
Warm, large comfortable
Beds were a dream. Spotless throughout
Lots hot water
- Jennifer (9/5): lovely family get away - beautiful property, clean, brilliant location. no parking at the property but there was parking nearby. we used the loading bay to load/unload and long stay parking was a short walk away.

The welcome box was a lovely touch.
The hosts couldn't do enough to make the stay enjoyable.
Would definitely use again and recommend it. Nothing to dislike.
