Guest Reviews
- Melissa (1/5): AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - Nothing Where do I start.
Firstly, they couldn’t accommodate me for the first night and they said they’d give me a refund- they haven’t.
Upon entry, I smelt a terrible odour and noticed the place hadn’t been hoovered- there were crumbs and what looked to be dog hair on the rug, crumbs and debris on the stairs.
I walked up the stairs, the smell got worse.. as I went to the bathroom I noticed it was the shower drain. It smelt like faeces.
I noticed there was just 1 toilet roll in there, meant for 2 people over 5 days.
I went to a bedroom and noticed spider webs and spider egg sacs in the doorway.
As I went through the drawers, there was rubbish left behind oh and random piece of toilet paper was left on the floor too, but I couldn’t put it in a bin as there was none!
I contacted the host, and as I waited for the reply, I thought I’d check how “clean” this place was.. well… leftover cooked food in the oven, unclean microwave and fridge..
By this point, the smell of the drain was filling the house and made me feel very sick.
They told me they’d move me (admitting the place wasn’t good), they moved me to 4 Cromwell Court.
On appearance, it looked like a halfway house.
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by another smell and immediately saw stains on the carpet and the sofa. The wall looked to have had a blood smear on it. The toilet was absolutely disgusting, the bath tub was unkept, mould in the sealant- 1 toilet roll again.
I’d also booked a 2 bedroom property and they put me in a 1 bedroom.
And the icing on the cake? Mould all over the walls next to the windows.
Immediately I contacted them, they ignored my 7 messages, I called them, they wouldn’t answer.
I left a voice message, no one got back to me.
I had to leave, it was horrendous.
I got home and messaged them on WhatsApp and they claimed to have cleaned the first place- they need to sack their cleaner if they thought that was clean.
- Julie (2/5): - Near our daughters for visiting lovely town we come quite often. Bed was broken, needed tightening, there was an alen key in the drawer, but it would not tighten the bed.
TV in room but no socket or remote.
Turn on tap, shower, or flushed upstairs toilet the tap downstairs starts running, the noise when running the taps is deafening, there is a strange smell at times from the shower drain.
Please be aware there is a really noisy pub opposite.
No bin, and the outside one was full, so I had to bag up rubbish and take it home.
In need of repairs and proper conversion as front is still as was when it was a shop so the noise off the street comes straight in.
Our original booking was cancelled by the vendor. This was an alternative as we were coming through for our Daughters birthday.
- simon (1/5): - Nothing So noisy as next to open nightclub
- Guest (5/5): Not a good experience - Clean and tidy I stayed at the property for two nights and encountered several issues that impacted the overall experience. Upon arrival, there were no fresh towels provided, and the toilet paper had run out later that same day. I requested replacements promptly, but these were not supplied until the following day—after I had to follow up again at 09:14 hrs. Fresh towels were delivered sometime after 10:00 am, though I cannot confirm the exact time as I was out of the premises during the day. Unfortunately, no additional toilet paper was provided with the towels.
Parking was also a concern. Although the check-in instructions clearly stated that I could park at the rear of the property, I was approached by a gentleman from the adjacent apartment who insisted that the land behind the cottage belonged to him and that I was not permitted to park there. He was quite abrupt in his approach. I reported the incident to the management company, who confirmed that parking at the rear was allowed, but the matter remained unresolved during my stay.
While the property itself had potential, the lack of responsiveness to basic guest needs and the confusion over parking detracted from the overall experience.
- Terry (8/5): Very good - Bathrooms were clean (except main showerhead) and kitchen also. The sofa was comfortable, the beds were comfortable however the bed in the smaller room requires some tlc. Very wobbly. Think there's some screws or bolts need tightening.the house was very quirky. It was a nice place 😌 The WiFi was awful. Which meant it was almost impossible to watch tv. The parking space to the rear. On arrival a woman leaned out of an upstairs window and told us not to park there. She said just park on the street. Thats not your parking space. The next day we had a visit from the man from next door advising us that we cannot park there as it is their land. We had to move the car and so I dont think advertising the property with parking is fair.
The pub opposite was very loud. Didn't bother bus too much as we are not early sleepers but had to have windows open due to the hot weather so was a little noisy.
- Paul (1/5): DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE, IT IS A SCAM. - Nothing. I booked this accommodation and paid to stay at this accommodation but didn't get to stay here as they put myself and my family elsewhere. I booked this accommodation and paid to stay at this accommodation but they put myself and my family elsewhere without informing us. They claimed it was due to maintenance being done but failed to mention this at the time of paying for the accommodation. Had I known this, I would have cancelled the booking.
Myself and my family were put up in some flat where there was no available parking and we were kept up by drunken idiots outside at some ungodly hour of the night.
I feel cheated and conned.
When I complained and asked for my money back, they ignored me basically and booking.com have been no help whatsoever.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE, IT IS A SCAM.
- Colin (8/5): It was an enjoyable and comfortable two day stay in Huntingdon and also very convenient for a visit to Cambridge and Gra - It’s very cosy and comfortable.
- Nikhila (8/5): Very good - Really convenient location Pub right opposite cottage so got very noisy on weekends till about midnight
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (6/5): Did the job for a 1 night stay. - Character cottage Opposite noisy pub. Parking space was occupied. Not even a teabag provided!
- Amy (5/5): Nice place few touches could make it special - Spacious rooms Bins in kitchen and bathroom
- Keith (8/5): Very good - Convenient location and warm. Maintenance needs looking at, bathroom door handle missing downstairs loo kept running, couldn't find waste bags. Parking area in church car park but we had a note on windscreen. Maybe a laminated sign for cars to explain where car is?
- David (7/5): Good - Close to everything nice clean house Loose beds
Not many TV channels
Noise from.pub
- Karen (8/5): Very good - It is a delightful cottage well equipped kitchen spotlessly clean great to have a parking space nice new bathroom. Not enough searing in the lounge one 3 seater sofa we are older so did not want to relax on a bar stool.A small table and chairs would be good had to eat food on our laps
Nowhere to hang clothes or hangers. No bin
- Elizalde (3/5): Poor -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - Very convenient location for strolling to the town centre or down to the river. Lovely, old-fashioned cottage with lots of character. Well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds If you like peace and quiet, weekends in this property are probably best avoided as it's unfortunately located across the road from a local pub with very loud music playing, keeping us awake on the Saturday night till 1am, and rowdy revellers congregating right outside the property - there was a mass brawl right outside with screaming & shouting and at one point, we thought they were about to come through the front door/windows - it was quite scary.
No bin inside the property.
Entrance to driveway very narrow and difficult to manoeuvre car into the parking space and not block other cars who needed access.
- Maxine (7/5): Good -
- Philip (8/5): Nice and well positioned accommodation but problems with the parking - Well situated in easy walking distance to the town centre with a good range of restaurants and pubs. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. There appears to be an issue with the neighbours and parking. When we pulled up (we had two cars) it wasn't clear where the parking was and we parked behind the property as instructed. A neighbour came out and took a photo of the cars and said there was a legal dispute about parking. In the end, one of us parked behind the property and one of us parked in the road on double yellow lines (we didn't get a ticket). I'm not sure it should be advertised as having private parking. Otherwise, the accommodation was fine.
- Daniel (7/5): Great little place with parking a few tweaks would make it much better - Location was great and house was quirky and nicely furnished. Not one waste bin provided inside the whole property, even though they said there was a small countertop bin in the kitchen there wasn’t.
Floors had not been vacuumed properly.
Noise from street as no double glazing.
No bedside lights.
- Philip (7/5): Great weekend, great location - Location was great Could have had somewhere to hang clothes!
And a bin.
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely central location. Know the area well as I used to live in Huntingdon a few years ago.
Beds are comfortable and pleasantly surprised at the dishwasher and washing machine. Neighbour complaining about parking issues. Has put no parking signs next to her frosted windows as required access.? Can park in church as I asked or on street. Shame as I have disabled daughter.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Lynn (7/5): Good -
- Lynn (7/5): Good -
- Carolyn (8/5): Great location, cute house. - Great location on the quiet end of the High Street, really handy to town and river. Free handy parking. Great very old property, plenty of room and character. Very clean. The bed was very uncomfortable, way too hard. A small dining table in the large living area would have been good. No information on the area, the house or the facilities.
- Howis (10/5): Exceptional - So nice and cute absolutely loved it x Having to leave 😁x
- Diana (9/5): Superb - The location was excellent. It was great to have a parking space for the car. Could have done with more tea towels and some dish washer tablets. Could do with hooks to hang clothes in bedroom on the back of the doors.
- Vigor (9/5): A uniquely charming and well equipped cottage - well recommended! - This property has a unique charm - although it is quite old, with ridiculously low ceilings and doorways (I am 190 cm tall), it is very nicely decorated and very well equipped. The available space was very well used, with touches of original setting - really outstanding! There was nothing we missed and the location is excellent (Huntingdon High Street is metres away). Well recommended! Low ceilings and doorways
- Adrian (10/5): Fantastic place to stay. A lovely cottage with character. - Location is great. Central to town centre. It was quiet area of town, comfortable and well equipped. A real character property. Clean, smart and well equipped. Great communication from host. Nothing. I thought it was great.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ferenc (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): Fabulous stay - Super cute little cottage, exceptional value for money. Bags of space and very well equipped, we didn't use the washing machine or dishwasher but these would be very handy for a longer stay. Lovely bathrooms and neat kitchen. Beds very comfortable. We had no problem with either, but the entrance to the "driveway" was narrow and it's quite hard to manoeuvre a long car into the parking space, and those with limited mobility or small children might want to know that the stairs are quite steep and narrow, as you'd expect with a house of this age.
- Norman (6/5): definitely not clean - location was perfect there were dirty cups in the cupboard, the rugs hadn’t been hoovered, I had to scrub the sink and basin before I could wash dishes so we could eat
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Barr (7/5): Good -
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (7/5): Mostly quiet, although the pub opposite was quite loud on Fri/Sat evening. - It was difficult to maintain a comfortable level of warmth in the shower.
- Mjaddison (10/5): A beautiful home away from home! - Great central location with good access via motorway and to public transport.
A beautiful, cosy, cottage with original features and a powerful log fire. Bathrooms were bright, clean, and modern. Two bright bedrooms with good storage and had towels on the bed for use during our stay.
Simon as a host was really attentive and responsive to messages throughout our stay and was very helpful.
House comes ready with tea bags, coffee, and sugar. Along with bathroom toiletries including toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, and soaps. I didn't mind these, but the stairs are quite steep and could be awkward for some to navigate. They weren't a problem for us and Simon has added extra handles for additional support and safety.
- Milne (9/5): Superb -
- Adriana (10/5): Exceptional - This was an amazing place, very cosy and warm.
We loved it . I don't have anything bad to say .
- Stephen (10/5): Beautiful -
