- Ramie (10/5): Thank you Victoria and Robert - Victoria and Robert are the best hosts. Although these are self service cabins, They are very attentive to the needs of guests, offering help in the kindest way. My family and me had an accident on the island. Luckly, no one was seriously hurt. Robert picked us from the hospital and later sent us to the ferry. They have traveled around the world, and definitely know what travellers need. The cabins are well located, well equipped, clean and comfortable. I wish everyone who stays in the cabin a very happy experience. None. If you see millipedes in certain season, remember that they are harmless.

- Sue (10/5): Awesome quirky comfy place to stay. - It was a clean comfortable spacious fully self contained unit. The bed was especially comfortable and large which was great because my partner is 6 foot 3 and beds are often too short for him. We slept well here and the attention to detail and all the quirky fish themed decorations added to the experience. We found the resident Koala. It was close to the waterfront and walking trails and to some restaurants. And the check in was straight forward. I’d definitely stay here again I liked it all

I travel all across South Australia for work and these cabins are the perfect mix of a fisherman’s dream and modern comfort. The owners have thought of absolutely everything. Every intricate detail from the decorative furniture to flooring features and even little fish cookies in our coffee cups. It’s absolutely stunning. I’m obsessed and will be back for a longer stay. 1000 stars out of 10 !!!!

- Marie (10/5): A relaxing recharge. - I have a very high level of expectation re places I stay and I NEVER give a 10/10 but this accommodation is exceptional. The layout, level of cleanliness and facilities of the actual cabin; the hospitality and warm, welcoming nature of the hosts and the location itself (including resident wild koala and glossy black cockatoos) was outstanding. We wish we’d been able to stay longer and we hope to return. I highly recommend. Nothing.

- Jennifer (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable. - When I entered the unit, I found it to be the cleanest, neatest & tidiest & best smelling accommodation I’ve ever paid money for. Loved that there were koalas in a huge gumtree on the property. I was warned about the possums but it was still unexpected when I heard them on the roof.

A quiet location, close to walking trails and fishing spots. Other highlights were the koala family living on the property and the Glossy Black Cockatoos close by. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a quiet escape.

- Zarese (10/5): Comfy and clean cottage in a quiet location - A clean, quiet and comfortable cottage with a family of koalas in the front yard! We loved the theme and provisions of some essentials like tea, coffee, milk. The communication was excellent also.
- Jodie (10/5): Lovely, comfortable and homely accommodation! - We had the loveliest stay at Mr and Mrs Fish Cabins, the room was really spacious and comfortable and the amenities were great - although I didn’t find it on the listing there is a small electric hot plate which you could cook on if you needed. We had a lovely time spotting the koalas each morning, and the location is pretty central to a lot of attractions on KI, plus it is super close to the beach at American River which is lovely for an evening walk. Great communication from our host Victoria who also gave great recommendations for our itinerary. Thank you!

The cabins are beautifully maintained and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. An added bonus was the resident koalas right outside the cabins — such a special and memorable experience.

- Claire (10/5): Peace and quiet in a beautiful location - Lovely, peaceful location in American River. Cabin 5 was bright and comfortable and the bush in front was alive with tiny colourful birds during the day. At night the wallabies hopped outside, whilst the three resident koalas slept in the tree. The black glossy cockatoos put in a brilliant overhead display and the Black Glossy restaurant down the road put an equally brilliant evening meal. Maybe a couple more food storage containers - but that's a tiny point.

American River is a small settlement so be prepared for few facilities locally, but nothing is very far at this end of kangaroo island

The welcome greeting letter was personalised which I thought was thoughtful. The details of small accessories and furniture equipment which decorated the property simply put a smile on my face; I could see that lots of love and care has been given to the property by the owners. Nothing.
- Elaine (9/5): Beautiful cabin in a peaceful location - The cabin is adorable. Every detail has been carefully thought of, and we felt at home straight away. The owner messaged us in advance to let us know we could check in whenever we were ready and was very warm and friendly 😊 Bonus was seeing momma koala and cub in the tree out front and lots of birds feeding 🐦 The hot water takes a long time to kick in in the bathroom/shower, so you have to run longer than you'd like & and the insulation could be better. It was a very chilly day when we arrived! The location is pretty quiet off-season (we came prepared so not an issue, but most food options were shut on the Monday evening). Otherwise fantastic place and great host :)

- Stefanie (10/5): - Wow wow wooow, das kleine aber sehr feine Appartement ist einfach mega süss eingerichtet. Wir waren in der cabin 5, welche gem. Victoria, eine sehr nette Gastgeberin, vor Kurzem erst fertiggestellt wurde. Wir waren leider nur eine Nacht dort, aber wären gerne noch eine Woche geblieben. Das Bett war unser Highlight. Sehr gross und sehr bequem. Auf dem Gelände hat es Koalas in den Bäumen, meeega toll. (Es war unsere erst Koala Begegnung in Australien) Zu Fuss kommt man in 5 Min. an einen Strand mit vielen Vögeln. W-Lan war auch super und die Küche hat alles (und ein bisschen mehr (Kaffeemaschine)) was man braucht. Waschmaschine hat es keine, das wussten wir bereits. Das Auto kann man auf dem Gelände an der Strasse parken, wir erhielten gute Instruktionen von den Gastgebern. Nichts

- Sonia (9/5): Wonderful stay for two nights. Love the koalas! - Great location and very private. The unit is very spacious with separate kitchen. Always great to have a coffee machine with capsules. Victoria, the owner, took the trouble to grab us to look at Keith and Kylie the resident koalas, together with baby. Was a memorable and wonderful experience. Blackout curtains would be a nice addition.
- Graeme (10/5): Just perfect to kick back and relax. - Spacious, quiet and beautifully appointed cabins in a garden setting. Spotlessly clean. Walking distance to restaurant and cafe and foreshore. Victoria, the manager, was very communicative, pleasant and helpful (even lent me the local bird identification book). Wish we could have stayed longer.

- Markus (10/5): Rundum toller Ort, persönlich und individuell eingerichtet mit Koalas im eigenen Garten! Eine ganz besondere Unterkunft! - Die sehr geschmackvolle Ausstattung ( in der Küche war alles vorhanden, was man so braucht), großzügige saubere und gut riechende Räume sowie Koalas hautnah im Garten erleben zu dürfen. Auch ohne dass wir Viktoria & Robert persönlich getroffen haben, haben wir gespürt, dass sie jeden Gast individuell begrüßen mit einem persönlichen und herzlichen Gruß. So durften wir erfahren, dass Kylie und ihr Baby direkt im Baum vor unserer Cabine sitzen und auf uns warten! Natur & exotische Tiere direkt vor der Nase und auch in den Ohren (Vogelstimmen und nachts das Grunzen von Kylie und Keith). Wir würden diese Unterkunft wieder wählen! Da gibt es nichts zu berichten.

- Wu (10/5): Very comfortable and a fun place to stay in. - The commitment to the fish theme was super impressive, very fun and quirky! All the furnishings and decor were also very high quality. We also had a lot of fun finding the nearby koalas every day and seeing where they'd moved to. Dinner places are unfortunately a bit limited - the recommended restaurant was shut for the entire duration of our stay.
