Guest Reviews
- Sara (7/5): Overall good - Good size and design The floor was dirty

- Claudio (1/5): Please book somewhere else - Horrible experience avoid at all costs, extremely dirty and the staff is extremely rude!! In need of maintenance and repairs. Mouldy is extremely dangerous.

- Miguel (1/5): Vila Baleira Hotel: A Disappointing Stay - nothing My recent stay at Vila Baleira Hotel in Porto Santo Madeira was unfortunately a terrible experience from start to finish.
Upon arrival, we discovered that the crib we had requested lacked a mattress, leaving our baby without a safe and comfortable place to sleep. The breakfast, priced at a hefty 15 Euros per person per day, was extremely basic and not worth the cost.
The staff's attitude was particularly disappointing. We received little to no assistance throughout our stay, and the cleaning ladies even rolled their eyes at us when we requested a mere 15 minutes to vacate the apartment.
Overall, my experience at Vila Baleira Hotel was far from satisfactory. The lack of essential amenities, overpriced and underwhelming breakfast, and unhelpful staff made for a truly disappointing stay. I would not recommend this hotel to other travelers.
- Barbara (9/5): New & calm - The food served at the hotel was extremely tasty, elevated when compared to the restaurants on the island serving many times good quality food but quite simple in form. We had a lovely view from our room. The place was very peaceful at night. The swimming pool is small but clean and pleasant. It is a good place for people seeking a quiet & private holiday, if you want more action, choose other Villa Baleira sites in the same area. The hotel is brand new so you get no issues typical for old hotels! We initially were assigned a room that did not fulfill the specs of the package we paid for but the staff was helpful and we were able to resolve this quite quickly. The new room we got was very nice, the only thing is that the bathroom gets flooded easily when taking a shower, but this is unfortunately a very common issue across different hotels. A drawback is that you pass by the sewage pumping station on your way to the beach but we knew that and still chose this place - there is no unpleasant smell around the hotel.
- Barbara (6/5): Relaxing but lacks the service that you would expect from a brand new 4 star hotel. - Quiet, spacious and location. Service. The waitering staff were very friendly but they weren’t properly trained. No pool service. The glasses etc are then left by the pool for hours. Renato and another lady in reception were very polite and friendly but the others at the reception desk not so much.
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was really good. It is relatively close to the beach (~10min walking distance). They gave us beach towels which was nice. The apartment has all commodities, is very modern and comfortable. It is located in a calm area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We couldn't reserve an umbrella at the beach.
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Jose (7/5): Good -
- Olga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (5/5): Won’t be coming back to this hotel having stayed here several times over the years 😢 - Location This has recently been taken over by Hotel Vila Baleira Village and we think it was a lot nicer when it was Pestana Ilha Dourada Hotel & Villas. There was a mix up with booking as we booked when it was still pestana and in the transfer to Vila baleira somehow the included beeswax no more as I was informed whilst eating breakfast on 2nd day. Very embarrassing. We had a cockroach in the electrical panel which caused the electric to trip out when we tried putting oven on next day having bought food for breakfasts, only to be told it was ok to eat breakfast at hotel after all. Quite a stressful situation overall
- Sonja (9/5): Super - Beautiful small hotel close to Ponta da Calheta in Porto Santo.
Amazing staff. Helpful and kind. A shout out to Mónica that made us feel very welcomed and comfortable.
Spacious luminous rooms with a very simple sleek design.
Nice courtyard/pool. Breakfast was average but had the basics. I know it is off season but salads and vegetables could be fresher.
It was not a problem to us but altought the hotel is close to the beach it has no direct beach access, so....note to future guests.
- Hamza (10/5): Exceptional - The staff in the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and had everything that I needed. I was impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the amenities were great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
- Kristo (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great - the staff is very attentive and friendly, the facilities seemed quite new and comfortable. There is a private sauna that can be used with a prebooking. The breakfast had many choices and was tasty. We would visit again if in Porto Santo!
- Mariia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (7/5): Good -
- Alejandro (9/5): Superb - The attendant Telma was very professional and helpful! She manage to give us a free Early Check In and a late check out to accommodate our trip. Thanks! 🙏🏽 Nothing!
- Anonym_aut (8/5): Very nice stay - We had an apartment which had a lot of space and was comfortable to stay in. Breakfast had a lot of variety, I just didn't like the coffee they had (which happened in a lot of hotels on Madeira as well). The staff was really friendly as well. Everything seemed quite clean as well. Not much to say, our apartment had some ants living in the joints of the entrance door.
- Stefan (8/5): Very good -
- Jānis (10/5): Quite modern hotel away from the town hassle - Friendly staff, the administrator allowed both early check in and late check out
- Vytenis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Burkhard (9/5): Superb - They gave us an upgrade : )
- George (6/5): Not the best of experiences. - The staff was pleasant and eager to assist us. However, a lack of training and resources reduces the degree of service. The final finishes of the room, and perhaps the entire hotel, did not impress me. They had the room available at the last minute, and I was relieved that I did not have to wait long despite the fact that it was after 5 p.m. There was no water in the room, so I went to the bar to get some. It wasn't their fault, but a cockrach jumped out as I opened the fridge to put the water in. The shower was intended for individuals with disabilities, but it was not what I had reserved. In general, the experience was unpleasant, particularly considering the price I paid.
- Inesa (7/5): Good -
- Darks (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (6/5): Has potential but disappointing - The space and the eco supportive elements of this modern property There was a large cockroach in the first room and the shower was broken in the second. We arrived late from the ferry because of bad weather and there was no food or drink available
- Kirill (9/5): Superb -
- Anastasiia (9/5): Superb -
- Melanie (10/5): Nice hotel - Everything. Beds
- Joao (10/5): Top hotel. - Everything: staff, cleaning, breakfast
- Dilara (9/5): It was really cool and staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the villa as a couple had quite amd chill time. If - The service

Lack of variety in the breakfast
- Vaida (9/5): Superb -
- Luís (10/5): Exceptional -
- André (5/5): Very disappointed. - Located near the beach, friendly staff at the reception. This hotel was a true disappointment overall. While we were happy to be near the beach and the bedroom is fairly ok, things start to get a bit more complicated as you start taking advantage of the services available. First, I was absolutely surprised to see the person responsible for the breakfast cleaning the tables with the same cloth they cleaned the place mats (not even to say they don’t replace the place mats) and then - without washing his hands - putting the cutlery on top of the place mats. Apart from this, the breakfast is bad - it’s not about the fact it is very basic, we don’t mind that - it is about the quality of the fruits (like a rotten pineapple), there’s no good bread, individual butter packs floating in melted ice and a terrible coffee machine.
On the third day, we also asked to prepare the sauna. When we got there, we noticed that there were no towels and clearly the place was not used very often, which would be fine, except that as soon as you enter the sauna you realize the door doesn’t close properly, not allowing heat to stay inside and, of course, wasting a lot of energy as the system will keep pushing the temperature to go up. The fact the sauna is not used regularly, doesn’t mean it is not well maintained - mainly if it is offered as a service.
Finally, while you are offered a welcome bottle of wine, the glasses are not even replaced. The wine glasses you get the first day are the ones that will stay in your room through your stay, no matter how dirty they are. The cleaning service did not clean around the sink either.
Oh and forget Wi-Fi. There’s Wi-Fi, but the connection is really bad and it is not a problem of bad network access because our mobile internet was working just fine.
These are all things that can be improved, but the overall feeling is that there’s not much effort put into making it a more pleasant stay. It is definitely not good value for the money.
- Viktor (5/5): Unfortunately pictures are better then it is in reality. - It looks it is a new hotel but already needs for renovation. Very poor maintenance especially for the price you pay and it does not meets your expectations…
- Pedro (7/5): Good - Staff was very nice, facilities were also good. Breakfast was very mediocre at best, beds weren't very comfortable, ac regulation is very bad.
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlo (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - Location, quiet and relaxing
- Sara (9/5): Superb -
- Laurinda (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning hotel, comfortable amazing
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (9/5): Good value for money - Very quiet and modern place. The villas are a nice place to stay with family or friends. The car parking garage was a must to keep the car cool.
- Sharon (8/5): - - Staff. Very attentive and friendly. Location. Quiet remote.
- Goodman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hayward (8/5): Very good - friendly staff nice pool
- Patrick (8/5): a nice quiet stay at a beautiful place - a nice compound a bit far off, but liked the quiet place and it was a great location for walks along the beach and the bus stop was close, if you want to go to town. the pool was very cold, so not one was having a bath in 8 days - way too cold for kids.
- Olga (8/5): Very good - Very peaceful hotel, 10 minutes walk to the beach, spotless room and excellent customer service. Fabio made everything possible to make our stay happy and enjoyable.
There's a spa and showers with towels provided which you could still use after the checkout as we did after the day on the beach. Not very soundproof hotel, was very disturbed by other rooms been cleaned.
- Cristiano (10/5): Exceptional - The room, staff and the food
- Sara (6/5): The standard of food and pest issue wrecked what could have been a very good stay. - Good facilities, very new. Staff very friendly. There were cockroaches in our villa. A lot of them and not only on one instance.
The food is poor.
- Tiago (6/5): could be better given the price - New, clean, staff friendly breakfast not at the level of price & distance from center
- Clarisse (5/5): Passable - Variety of seeds and toppings. Good bread. Nice variety of juices. It was disappointing to have powdered eggs served instead of fresh eggs. More variety of fruit would be nice.
- Laura (10/5): Would stay again and will always be my - Lovely hotel, stayed for the second time and absolutely loved it! Swimming pool and all facilities were beyond perfect. My son enjoyed the pool! Nothing.
- Jūratė (9/5): Superb - close to the beach
