Guest Reviews

- Barbara (8/5): Lovely place to stay in Istanbul. Walking distance to major sites and - It is a refurbished hotel Shows some wear and tear. It is very clean and adequate for our stay. Lovely breakfasts and view on roof top terrace!! Front desk staff are
Very friendly and Helpful. All service people were very helpful and pleasant as well Room refreshened and beds made daily like it used to be in the USA…Nice touch.
- H (8/5): Great stay and good value for money in a great location - The rooms are small but very clean and bed was comfortable.
Staff were friendly, helpful and readily available. Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): Our stay was special on so many levels we love this place. - The place is so charming and stylish. The staff cannot do enough for you. We even had a super early check in and additional breakfast at no extra charge. We had a special welcome as returning guests and a lovely welcome letter acknowledging that we are returning guests and a welcome gift. We were made to feel very special.
- Zainab (8/5): Quaint and cute in the heart of the grand bazaar. - The old school vibe and terrace area for breakfast was picturesque. Staff were amazing, customer service is an extra plus. There could be more meat options included in the breakfast as there were none.
- Jose (10/5): Our stay was really great. This our 2nd time. - Location is closed all major visitors attraction. Breakfast need little more options.
- Garske (10/5): Phenomenal location - The location is excellent. Walking distance to several places of interest, yet in a quiet neighborhood. Staff is wonderful. Plentiful breakfast and 24-hour lounge upstairs with a open terrace and view of the bay.
- Garske (10/5): Excellent location and friendly staff. - The staff are amazingly friendly and quite willing to answer our questions and help fulfill our needs. I liked the upstairs 24 hour bar. The hotel is very strategically located. 2-3 blocks from Main Street. It is also very quiet.

- Mairi (10/5): - Comfortable, welcoming, great location. Overall, an excellent stay!
- Antje (10/5): perfect - Tolles Frühstück auf der Dachterasse/ Great breakfast at the roof terasse

- Carmel (7/5): Great Location for Visiting main Sites in Istanbul - Location is excellent for visiting old Istanbul, can walk to most major attractions, Bazaar, blue Mosque etc.
Lots of decent restaurants & shopping nearby, very lively area of the city.
Breakfast was ok, servicable is how best to describe it, got a bit boring after 3 days though. Some staff were not very communicative when queried about locality, attractions etc. manger was pleasant & helpful though.
Air con units are old & very noisy in all our 3 rooms.

- Tarja (10/5): - Lovely suite with own balcony and sea view! Delicious breakfast with home made pastries and local products. Friendly staff. Central location on old town. Within walking distance of main attractions like Hagia Sofia. The neighborhood is lively, but it was interesting to follow the events. Taxis cannot always get to the hotel when the streets are closed. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
- markus (10/5): -

Posizione centrale per raggiungere Sulthanamet a piedi senza mezzi.
Colazione buona.
- Nadine (8/5): Clean Comfortable stay in a lovely art deco room located within a few minutes walk to Grand Bazaar - Have stayed many times and as always the Staff are wonderful, the rooms are small but comfortable & breakfast on the roof terrace is lovely. 3 minute walk to Grand Bazaar & the Metro ( direct route couple of stops to blue mosque & hagia Sofia & Galata bridge) Lots of little restaurants around ( food street ) for traditional Turkish food & grills. Size of shower cubicle is very small & bread pre cut at breakfast ( makes bread dry ) and no real juice option for breakfast.
- Mary (9/5): Great Stay, would stay again. - Close to the Grand Bazaar, It was like a 10-minute walk. Close to public transportation. Excellent breakfast and wonderful staff, It was easy to get to from the airport by taxi. The views from the rooftop cafe were great. The direct neighborhood was a bit dirty and quiet at night. We didn't feel unsafe but I wouldn't walk alone. Not many cafes right around the hotel.
- Rochelle (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (9/5): very friendly helpful staff - friendly staff
- Mutungi (8/5): Very good - The rooms were a good size. The staff were very kind. I like the policy for refilling water to use less plastic.
- Enfys (7/5): Great location in Istanbul - Great location. Lovely staff. Great breakfast on roof top Our room compared to both our friends rooms needed an updating.
Wi-Fi needs a passport number. No problem with doing this but needed to repeat this daily and every time when moving from room to rooftop bar and to the lobby. A little frustrating
- Benjamin (9/5): Charming, welcoming, wonderful stay - A complete treasure of a hotel.
The staff could not have been more welcoming, hospitable and helpful. Anything you need booking, they’re on it; and their recommendations for restaurants, hammams and so on were spot on.
We were greeted with tea and Turkish delight on arrival, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. There was a comfortable area for sitting in the lobby.
The breakfast (all vegetarian) was delicious (have included some pictures!)
The internet was good, and excellent water pressure in the shower!
Great location for transport, or walking around, but in a fairly quiet street. If you want ultra-luxury or the most modern hotel, this might not be for you
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Miller (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcie (9/5): Superb -
- Yem515 (9/5): Hotel location is very good walking distance to most attractions in old city . - Like the location, friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel. Bathroom shower is very small and very tight tube like shower box.
Breakfast is not that impressive, same variety everyday sometimes even less
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karim (8/5): A charming and convenient stay with helpful staff, authentic character, and easy access to the city - My travel companions and I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning—it was a great start to the day. The hotel’s location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Grand Bazaar and within easy walking distance (30 minutes or less) to all major attractions south of the Galata Bridge, including the main mosques. We also made good use of the T1 tram line to reach the Galata Bridge and explore a few stops beyond. The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite, always available to answer questions and assist with bookings. They even arranged taxis at the standard local rates with no mark-up. The Wi-Fi connection was strong and reliable throughout our stay. A great experience overall! Our room was a bit smaller than expected based on the photos, but it suited our needs perfectly as we were mainly looking for a clean and convenient base close to the main tourist attractions. While the hotel has a more dated appearance, it’s well maintained and offers an authentic charm that matched the feel of our short 3-night stay. There are a few dining options nearby, though we found better variety just a short 10-minute taxi ride away. One small suggestion would be to offer slightly larger quilts for added comfort, but overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.
- Tony (10/5): Will use this place again - Atmospheric, Ottoman and comfortable
Lovely rooftop bar
Staff a joy to treat with No issues
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - We liked the overall "Turkish" feeling of the hotel. The decor and old photos of Istanbul were lovely. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The location was great - easy access to the Grand Bazaar, money exchanges, restaurants/fast food, etc. - all within easy walking distance. The upper deck was lovely - with a great view of the ships on the Bosphorous. The breakfast was also great!
- N (8/5): Simple hotel in a good location. Junior suites worth extra cost. - Location. Good value simple hotel.standard room a bot drab the junior suites are much better and worth the extra costs. Good breakfast. Room too hot and aircon ineffective.
Standard room drab.
- Stephan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (7/5): Traditional Turkish accommodation central to all attractions. - The location was great, nice and central to all of the main attractions which were all within 10-15 minutes walking distance. The hotel was a traditional Turkish establishment and my room was nice and spacious. I appreciated traditional aspects of the room-Turkish bath. Loved the underfloor heating. Being on the top floor it was a little warm at times but I was able to open the window to let some fresh air in. Breakfast was nice, although it could have had a few more choices, especially for western travelers. Entry to the room was via an actual key. It never worked for me! This required me to go back to reception from level 4 every time I wanted to enter my room and ask for assistance to do so. This became quite tiresome and it wasn't well received by management. I also felt a little judged by management for travelling as a single, solo woman.
- Gina (8/5): Very good -
- Jemma (7/5): Lovely and will stay again - Lovely place a little small but it was fine.. a few more options for breakfast would have made it perfect There wasn’t much choice for hot breakfast
- Janet (10/5): Great stay in a lovely hotel. - Breakfast on the roof terrace was very good. The WiFi was patchy.
- Hamad (8/5): Enjoyable - Good location . Friendly staff . Very helpful Wi-fi connectivity poor
Breakfast choice not good
- Bogdan (7/5): Good -
- Glenis (9/5): Family run hotel in an excellent location. Friendly staff and highly recommended. - Breakfast was excellent and location couldn’t have been better.
- Shawn (10/5): Like stepping back in time to a classic era of travel. - Like staying in a classy hotel on a stop on the old Orient Express! Wonderful checkin with Ege with hot tea and turkish delights. The hotel manager introduced himself and gave us a contact card if we ever needed anything, day or night. Had a junior suite with a hamam... highly recommended! The rooftop bar was a sight to behold.. and staffed 24 hours a day. Oh, and the breakfast was fantastic.
- Margret (9/5): Would stay there again - Friendly staff, rooftop terrace Mattress too soft
- Juliet (9/5): Superb - Food. Cleanliness . .
- Meg (9/5): A comfortable good value little hotel in a great location! - The positive & professional welcome by reception staff, with an introduction & apple tea. Our room was comfortable with a good ensuite. A good location, not far from the tram station at Beyazit & close to the Grand Bazaar. Breakfast was on the top floor & was comprehensive & varied. Staff were friendly & helpful. The hotel had a beautiful lounge area downstairs. %
- Katy (9/5): Superb - Good location, nice rooftop, lots of character. Really friendly and helpful staff Room was on the small side
- Paresh (10/5): Good location, staff and rooms - good friendly staff and full breakfast bit of an incline if any walking issues
- Denise (9/5): Easy to walk to sights, excellent breakfast - Rooftop breakfast was amazing. Large room (we upgraded). Our room was in back of hotel, so very quiet at night in a bustling city. Pillows not comfortable for me, a back sleeper.
- Jay (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good - Location, style of room, friendliness of staff and their helpfulness in making arrangements for us - hammam, taxi. When we asked for restaurant recommendations, it would have been great if some recommendations were more moderately priced and less 'touristy'
- Charlotte (10/5): Great value for money, a family run hotel quietly situated but within walking distance of the main sights. - The wonderful welcome, great location and rooftop bar! Nothing
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Burnell (9/5): Great stay- centrally located - Location was excellent- close to tourist sites, close to tram, near the university, area was active and fun. The roof terrace was great- we enjoyed both breakfast and evening drinks. The personnel were really friendly and good
- Lena (8/5): A lovely, family hotel which gives you a "home a way from home" in a busy and great city. Loved it! - Great breakfast served at the terrace
- Janet (8/5): Comfortable and relaxed - lovely staff - Fabulous breakfast on roof terrace
- Leila (5/5): I won’t go back - Walking to distance to grand bazar The room were so small , not thought room to even move around
No closet
Breakfast very ordinary , nothing really good in there
Same thing everyday ,
I would consider this hotel 2-3 starts hotel
- William (8/5): A charming hotel with great character right near the Grand Bazar - Great location, nice rooftop bar and breakfast
- Anastasiya (8/5): Very good hotel and great location but it needs some upgrades. - Location, the patio The mattresses were uncomfortable and felt too old. Also, there was no noise proofing so I could hear someone’s tvs all night.
- Sheila (8/5): Helpful staff, good location, adequate room would book again - Value for money Nothing
- Lynnette (8/5): Enjoyable - Staff were lovely. Relaxing on the rooftop terrace was nice. Lovely family run small hotel. An egg station would have been nice, although scrambled eggs were served each day. Unfortunately only lukewarm which is the norm when it comes to food in bain maries.
- Sruthi (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good Room was very small
The cleaning staff never refilled the shower gel or toilet papers and we always had to go and ask for it
- Kate (10/5): Great Riad - Everything! Nothing
- Paul (9/5): Very traditional comfortable hotel - The staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly
The style and decorations of the hotel
The breakfast room overlooking the Bosphorus
- Terence (7/5): Dissapointed with the family room. - Nice and stylish hotel in great location. Staff very helpful, fantastic breakfast on the upper floor with views. Booked family room as we traveled with our 15yr old daughter. The family room was on two floors - ground floor and lower ground floor - no windows at the lower ground at all and no window in our room - only a window at pavement level by the staircase which did not open and people could see if if we opened curtains - so no 'normal' view and no fresh air, making the room dark and a bit uncomfortable. Mattress was very hard to sleep and and bed frame very noisy - it did improve once mentioned to staff.
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely place to stay. Great views of the Sea of Marmara from the breakfast roof terrace. - Delicious buffet style breakfast. Breads, biscuits and cakes were home made. Lots of different salads, cold meats and cheeses. Juices, coffee and teas. All freshly made every day and excellent. I liked everything!
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sabrina (5/5): Not worth it - The lobby and terrace was pretty. Breakfast was good. The staff were courteous. The location is pretty bad. The neighborhood looks a bit rough. There are much better options closer to sultanahmet area. The room I got was duplex but very crammed. Not workshop it for over $250/night. Much better options in cute areas available
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
