Guest Reviews
- Lorenzo (3/5): Disorganised, rat on the boat, not recommended - The boat is quite small and that gives a sense of intimacy compared the other cruises in the bay. The places we visited were very beautiful. The rooms are clean and nice. Mostly the fact that there was a RAT or more than one walking on the ceiling above us and in our bedroom, that prevented us from sleeping properly.
Once the staff was informed about that, did not really seemed surprised. For the price they charge, in my opinion this is not acceptable.
Another thing we did not like was how the activities are organised:
Kayaking: we said we did not want to go to the village visit, the host told us we could then kayak and swim, great option for us, so after agreeing to that, we got ready, but in the meantime the support boat already left leaving no kayak to us, and it was not possible to swim too because the ladder was in that boat.
Cooking class: not a cooking class, it just rolling a spring roll, which you do in every restaurant. Just call it appetiser or do it properly.
Fishing: explain a bit and assist the guests in the activity, don’t just leave them on the back of the boat, close the exhaust gas, with no explanation and a rod on the hands
- Karine (9/5): -
- Ellie (10/5): - I researched for days for the best cruise for me, my husband and my mother and eventually went with Cozy Boutique and it was SO worth it. We saw the other cruise boats while we were on the cruise and Cozy Boutique was up there with the most beautiful (and we were the only ones doing Tai Chi at 6:30am 🥰)
I was a little worried that it would be a scam booking through booking.com (maybe I'm paranoid!!), as a travel agent tried to get me to pay around £70 more booking the cruise through them. We went through booking.com instead and it was super smooth, and we were contacted by someone from Cozy Boutique Cruise through WhatsApp.
The cruise itself was wonderful, with great hosts. I'm vegan and they accommodated my diet easily. The rooms were really comfy and the cruise was very luxurious! There were only around 12 people on our cruise.
- Amadis (10/5): - Superbe bateau merci pour le surclassement
- Pierre (9/5): Worth the splurge - Two nights on a beautiful boat with comfortable cabin & balcony, good food, kayaks, tai chi, and a wonderful bike/hike excursion. Loud, reverberating Karaoke above my cabin took the shine off
- Cyril.
Rien
- Emilie (10/5): Highly recommend this! - The boat was absolutely gorgeous. Everything was perfect. The food, the staff, our guide …all amazing. Very comfy beds and well organised activities. It’s a must.
- Philipp (10/5): - Liked it a lot, one day was enough though.
The food was a bit too much.
- SHARRON (9/5): -
- Joao (8/5): -
- James (9/5): The group, the staff, the food were all excellent. - Small boat, older vessel, good shape Older vessel, a few things that seemed like they could use maintenance
- Agathe (9/5): -
- Emma (9/5): - Location, food was abundant and delicious. Need towels on deck on the lounges
- Debra (8/5): Would have loved rooms with balconies as was booked and confirmed multiple times. Otherwise awesome - Lovely staff and cruise boat. Food was great too. Booked x3 rooms with balconies and triple checked via messages, Hanoi cozy boutique office visit etc, that we definitely have balcony rooms booked, all confirmed yes each query. Got to cruise and was told all balconies are booked out for all the x2 night stayers except the one balcony room by the motor fumes. I was not happy but had to accept it. This unfortunately put a damper on an otherwise beautiful cruise.
Choose a larger ship with all balconies if this is important to you.
- Deirdre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valma (10/5): Exceptional - The cruise has been truly amazing, staff were kind, attentive and always smiling. Great food and cleanliness was awesome. Next time we would back for 2 night and 3 days instead 1 night. Noting to dislike
- Thomas (3/5): Felt being scammed, they call it a boutique cruise, there was nothing boutique about it. - The cruise was nothing like I expected, boarded on a scam, in my we were supposed to be cruising around Ha Lan and Halong bays, during our cruise my estimation of actual cruising time on the ship sold to us, would have to have been a maximum of two and one half hours, the rest was hanging around not far from Ben Beo harbour, so they could easily pick up new passengers and drop off others on shorter trip days, in the 1 night and 1 day we sailed over the same short route four times. All excursions we were put on a small tender, obviously to save costs on running the cruise ship, the service other than breakfast, lunch and dinner was no existent, almost a ghost ship, not even given any water, and told the all inclusive beverages was 2 small bottles of water per day, which we had to find and refill ourselves.
Our trip was supposed to be 3 nights and 2 days, we demanded to end it after the second night.
The small amount of scenery we saw was beautiful, the meals were very good, but that was it, the excursion to an isolated village, not planned or at least we had no intinary for it, but rather told we would be doing it the following day, we had no real knowledge about it, we were not prepared, given no water on a stinking hot day, together with a long walk, lunch was excellent but not where they told us it would be.
After complaining and wanting to get off the cruise, I was asked why, I told them as for the reasons above, I was told due to low season I they changed routes around, to us admitting they were short changing us, I have copies of all the correspondence containing admittance of their excuses.
The 1 hour, happy hour is a joke, after being told two different stories, you have to buy 4 beers and get one free, they won’t keep them cold for you, so being so hot and trying to drink 5 cans in an hour is ridiculous, unless your are young and in a drinking competition, joke.
My advice do not book this company.
- Paul (9/5): Expensive but worth it - V comfy, great itinerary and a great boat. Sinh was a great host. Food was lovely too, lan hay bay much better than ha long bay. In terms of thailand prices, the alcohol etc on board is v expensive and we paid about £275 for the one night for a downstairs bedroom no balcony and all the drink.
- Peter (9/5): It’s a good organised tour with lovely hosts in a stunning part of the world - Super nice Tour guide and great food . The activities are similar to other tours. Great communication prior. Also helpful with arranging transport after the cruise
- Silverberg (1/5): Bad -
- Clint (8/5): Very good - Location and rooms on the boat were amazing. Tranfers well organised. Dinners and lunches were excellent. Cave Kyaking toir was a lot of fun. Beakfast was below average sadly. One small toaster for a large boat created some waiting. Not a lot of choices.
Also we were on a 2N3D tour that ended up being 2 x 1 day tours unfortunately after hkining we had to wait on catba island for the second night passengers to be picked up. Felt a bit disjointed from previous 2N3D Halong Bay tours we have done.
- Heather (10/5): High class cruise - amazing activities and food! - What a fantastic overnight cruise! This seemed to be one of the nicer boats cruising on the bay. There were about 10 rooms - there were about 23 people on our boat which was a nice number. There was a tender at the port and for the activities. The food was plentiful and delicious and they were happy to cater very well for our vegetarian family. We got two lunches, a dinner and a breakfast - paying extra only for drinks. The activities were plentiful, including kayaking/swimming in the karst caves, karaoke, a cooking class (roll your own fresh rolls) on the deck, squid fishing, then the next morning tai-chee before breakfast then biking or shuttle to the village for a walkabout and a fish foot massage! The staff welcomed us warmly and the ship had a warm and cozy, well-appointed feel with a bit of a delicious murder-mystery feel (luckily there was no murder). The scenery was gorgeous. The room was comfortable, spacious and fully equipped. We requested a room next to our children's room and we had an adjoining balcony. Highly recommended! I suggest you request a room not at the back of the boat - ours was the very back room and we suffered diesel fumes for about half of the trip from the generator. Our kids room next door one towards the front of the boat was completely fine.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Jye (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alberto (10/5): Amazing boat and great food - Everything! Amazing boat and good food! Wi-Fi is not really working well
- Olivier (8/5): Very good - very nice boat
room and bathroom were exactly as in the picture
Kayak and bicycle tour are nice transportation organized by cozy boutique was a bit rough. No one talking to us, changing bus without much explanation.
- Alessandro (7/5): Good - Ha Lan is splendid, worth the trip. The kayaking was really nice, rooms were awesome. The lady who runs the structure was nice and friendly. One of the two young boys serving the tables seemed persistently irritated with guests. The cooking class (how to fill and roll a spring roll) was a joke. The Tai Chi class lasted exactly 11 minutes ...
- Nina (7/5): Good -
- Zeev (8/5): Very good -
- Tara (10/5): Exceptional - Food was delicious, staff friendly and efficient, the guide was super nice and made sure we have everything we need. The boat is so pretty. The bedsheets were soft. We spent 2 nights and could kayak in different places, did some bicycle, short hiking in Viet Hai. Everything was perfect.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good - Character boat, a little tired. Lots of vegetarian food supplied. Kayaking was fun. Unfortunately we were downgraded to room without balcony. Lots of rubbish in the water…such a beautiful place otherwise.
- Allie (10/5): Would absolutely recommend to friends! - The staff were so helpful the cruise included much more than anticipated. We did cooking classes, private hike and lunch, fishing trip. This was all included within the booking, which was fantastic!! Nothing
- Fenja (9/5): We loved the cruise, so many fun activities and incredibly nice staff. Would always book this again! -
- Kate (8/5): Good value for money with plenty to do. - The boat was lovely with just the right number of people onboard.
- Basile (8/5): Excellent Cruise. Everything was excellent. The food was not very authentic and the staff was friendly but not very warm -
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harriet (7/5): Enjoyable but not exactly luxury for the price - Nice junk boat style with lots of character, the standard schedule of activities, small boat so not at all crowded, nice staff and good food. Some of the facilities were a bit old and tatty, like the sun beds, which looked grubby and weren’t very nice to lie on. Quite expensive drinks (including drinking water) for a cruise that wasn’t particularly high end.
- Vincent (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - It was all amazing. The facilities were great, comfortable bed, all the staff were great and friendly, our host was Sins, he was lovely. Good vegetarian options. Lots of included activities. Good value for money. Felt very fancy on board. I’m not sure I’d change anything.
- Julie (9/5): A must do and see, forget Ha Long Bay go with Cozy to La Ha! - The scenery, the boat, the staff were all amazing. We had a great time on the boat, the food, drinks and fun all added to the experience and being in La Ha bay rather than Ha Long was the best part as we were well away from the crowds and at times were the only boat to be seen. The crew were all fun too :) We went to the national park on the 2nd day and sat around for what seemed like ages while the main boat went an picked up the next group of passengers. We felt like we were being "baby sat' for that period of time. We were expecting a good walk through the park with lunch provided and instead it was a 20 minute walk and then several hours of sitting around at an old guesthouse (that's seen better days), had lunch then waited even more before walking back the 20 minutes to the village.
- Jane (10/5): Would highly recommend - Absolutely stunning - amazing staff, accommodation, so much food, breathtaking scenery It went too quickly
- Janusz (9/5): Exceptional cruise experience - Comfortable cabins
Attentive staff
Engaging itinerary for 2 days 1 night There could be less meals and maybe be more time / additional activities. Having said that, food was great.
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Francesca (9/5): Superb -
- Rosario (10/5): Exceptional - It was a memorable trip, but short. The boat is a traditional wooden one and family friendly for about 25 persons. Would have liked to spend more time. Punctual and well programmed. Kayak, fishing, karaoké, cuisine lesson, cycling etc. The food was very nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. They even made a cake as it was my birthday ! Recommand strongly.
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marta (10/5): Big rock with trees but really cool - Everything was impecable. The view from the bedroom, the tour by ourselves along the bay, the activities, the food… everything was a dream Cant think of anything I did not like.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Rob (8/5): The boat and food was amazing! The bus transfer service is horrible and I would recommend to book your own private drive - The boat and food where amazing! The transfer service is horrible
- Carolien (9/5): Superb - Thank you for making sure we had such a great time 😁
- Wim (8/5): Very nice experience, on a nice boat with friendly staff and amazing food - We loved the staff on board , so helpfull and nice. The food was really amazing, best we had, with local fish and dishes. This boat tours the Lan Ha Bay, which is amazing with great views and not crowded with other boats. We were not informed we needed to pay upfront, before embarking the boat . It needed to be Ty cash, no cards excepted. So we had to take a cab to the nearby ATM . Also the ride is far from Hanoi, bus+ ferry + bus + small boat to embark. Be aware with small kids that it can be a long trip.
- Colleen (10/5): We absolutely loved this cruise!! - This was absolutely spectacular. The rooms are cute and spotless. The staff was beyond amazing-helpful, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable. The expeditions were fun and thoughtfully planned. The bay itself was jaw droppingly beautiful. The value for dollar was excellent. I can’t say enough about this cruise!!! The food was served family style at our table. It was very good but there was a LOT of it. I worried about waste. ☹️. There was no way we could eat everything! We were on a two night cruise. The first day we went kayaking was amazing. The second day we went in a different area and sadly, there was a lot of garbage in the water. It was not nearly as nice.
- Bower (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hans (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff, new boat, less tourists in the tour than in the more crossed areas of Ha Long Bay, nice food, ... Make sure you settle the payment in advance, or bring enough cash.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely 1 night cruise, the meals were exceptional & the staff were beyond helpful and kind. Would recommend!
- Louis (6/5): over prised, very poor communication and positioning from Booking.com; shocked to see the premium Booking.com takes but - na the pictures are far better looking than the reality
- Christopher (6/5): Great staff, amazing scenery, comfortable bed, cool boat in state of disrepair. - the staff was really amazing, awesome room esp. the balcony. it's cool boat and the scenery is amazing obviously. The kayaking the first day through caves to hidden lagoons was amazing and our guide (also our host) was super fun. The captain is also a really cool guy. A little run down overall. In the room the doors, cupboard and bathroom window wouldn't stay closed and were damaged from swinging open when the boat was moving. Missing tiles, general disrepair, just simple neglect. overall for the price, they could maintain it better, the boat is in a state of neglect. The dining area was also way too hot, the AC wasn't enough to keep it cool and there were only two small fans for the entire room.
one of the biggest critiques would be that water is not included in the price and only available when the staff are around, which they aren't always. The listing says "selected beverages included" heads up that that means coffee/tea in the morning and a watermelon juice when you arrive.
Also be aware that if you pay by credit card there is a 3% bank fee on the total for the booking and the total will be quoted on the check-in date in USD and as per the daily USD exchange rate and not based on the price the day you booked. That could be good or bad. In our case it meant more money than the booking.com price that we booked in advance. also because the max atm withdrawal is 3 million VND you will pay way too many bank fees for the multiple withdrawals required to have such a large sum of cash on hand for an amount as big as the cruise price. so, overall the credit card fee is a better deal but it wasn't anticipated.
- Karen (8/5): Great cruise on a clean, traditional boat. Food was delicious and plentiful. Staff were all very polite and helpful. - Relaxing cruise, great window view from room, friendly staff and delicious food. Drink prices were expensive compared to other places in Vietnam, however that is to be expected.
- Charlotte (7/5): Cruise - - Personal was very nice and helpful
- Amazing Lay-out of the boat (shower window can be opened so you can shower with an amazing view of the sea)
- Food was plenty
- there was a schedule for the tour but you were still able to make your own plans and did not feel like you had to go along with everything
- I personally think 2 days 1 night is enough to see everything
- the “host” was very nice and helped organize transfer from Hanoi and then to Ninh Binh - you can see a bit of wear and tear on the boat on closer inspection
- bathroom was a bit smelly
- cruise felt kind of meant for French people as the “host” was talking in French all the time to the mostly French passengers so one was feeling a bit left out…
- I chose this cruise because it was not going to Halong Bay but a bit quieter bay near cat ba, there were still many boats around (though less than in Halong I imagine); the sea was kind of dirty in certain parts…
- Mr. (5/5): Expecting more hospitality and better service. - The number of passengers on the boat is not crowded. The balcony we stayed in with deck was a real plus. The bed was extremely comfortable. The scenery was fabulous!
Our waiter was very nice and helpful, introduced himself as “ Mr. Handsome “.
He’s the only crew member to explain everything to us in English. He also helped me when I wasn’t feeling well by preparing me a plate of food delivered to my room. The excursions were fun. No English speaking Director/ Host on our cruise. Sharing of food family-style with new table guests every night is a bit awkward/ Stressful. Karaoke in the middle of tranquility seems not appropriate!! So loud that neighboring boats complained and we were able to sleep. Boat is in need of upkeep and repairs. Smell of sewer gas in the bathroom. Lost on translation during our bike tour because Host didn’t explain in English. She only explains everything in French, without much explanation or respect for the English speaking guest.
- Pavel (9/5): Superb - Great cruise overall. Can't compare with the other itineraries but felt less touristy and overall fully met expectations. The ship is also rightly sized for a more peaceful experience. The food is good too, not too fancy but tasty.
- Shawn (8/5): Good cruise company, helpful and friendly sales staff and boat staff. - Good cruise, fairly new and great staff. Bathroom is old and leaky. There was a whole day where they had issue with hot water, to their credit they as admitted to it and said they were looking into it but it wasn't ultimately resolved so we took cold showers.
For two night cruise, beware that the second nights sailing route is the exact same as the first night. So you don't see anything new but more of the same. For us this was fine as it was still relaxing but we had expected to see new scenery for the second night.
- Diane (10/5): Wonderful experience - Wonderful experience. Staff so professional and helpful. Cycle to village a highlight. Food plentiful and expertly prepared. Mr Lucky and Mr Handsome fantastic hosts. Nothing
- Lauren (10/5): amazing small cruise, not too busy and beautiful scenery - small cruise, felt very intimate and relaxed vibes. tasty vegetarian food, incredible views and friendly staff. kayak and bike rides were fun!
- Roberts (9/5): Superb -
- Rohit (8/5): Nice boat great views average food - Good wooden interior, neat and clean. nice deck with great views of the bay. Food , getting to the cruise is a huge task. We had to change the mode of transport 4 times, from a car to ferry to another car or bus then again small boat to the cruise boat. If you have more than a couple luggage pieces with you not kids. The ferry from hai phong to Cat ba island is not that nice , it’s a mixed ferry with vehicles also allowed onboard the ferry. It’s better to get a single car that gets onboard the ferry and takes you to the cruise. Better to check & clarify with your cruise receptionist in advance, we were caught unawares.
- Robyn (9/5): Very nice cruise! - The staff went above and beyond to ensure guests had activity options and were enjoying their time. Lan Ha bay was very beautiful and not too crowded at all. The bike ride to a local village through the countryside was lovely.
- Marcela (10/5): Beautiful and cozy cruise - Everything was perfect! The cruise is really cozy and beautiful, the view from the room is INCREDIBLE. Also, they have a vegetarian options super delicious. I definitely recommend it. They don't have wifi.
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Helen (8/5): amazing location and boat - the location was amazing, the staff good only improvement would be clearer itinerary, we booked 3 nights and last one wasn’t on the boat, but in Cat Ba harbour so not a 3 night cruise not 3 nights as we booked
- Charlotte (9/5): EXCELLENT! - location
the hospitality of the cruise
activities

- Ankit (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (7/5): Beautiful boat but it leaves some things to be desired - Nice little boat with beautiful room. The food is ok, but the nights bbq was Great. Swiming in the bay was AMAZING. No wifi, no water included. I would have liked if they took drink orders Before coming out with the food so you dont have to sit thru half the meal parched. I would have liked if they offerd dessert and not just a few slices of watermelon to share with 3 other People.
- Natalie (8/5): Very good - Food, staff, and views were exceptional. Kayaking to the small beaches in the bay is ideal and you're left to get on with it in peace which is great. BBQ on the first night was a treat. Hmm.. booked and paid for a balcony room for two night but not available for the first night and needed to change rooms which was smooth enough but nit really ideal. The cruise dies not start and end in Ha Long like many do and it's tricky to get back up to Ha Long if that's your next stop.
- Craig (10/5): Wonderful experience sailing around Halong Bay with excellent accommodation, food and guides. - Overall lovely ship with very nice rooms, comfortable with really nice en-suite bathrooms. Nothing really, it was a pleasure to spend time on board.
- Dhruv (9/5): Superb -
- Merle (6/5): Nice boat, but cleanliness & technical issues - - Food was delicious, waiters very kind
- Nice program with well organized activities
- Nice room with huge windows for awesome views
- Nice bathroom
- Transport from/ to Hanoi and Ninh Binh was well organized Some of the following points might still be the consequence of a longer covid break, and actually a pity as the rooms and the boat itself are really nice and the staff is also motivated. However, there's much room for improvement!
- Room was not properly cleaned. Even after pointing out to the staff that the toilet isn't clean, he said the issue was fixed, but it obviously wasn't! Very disappointing and a no-go!
- There seemed to be technical problems with the boat - fire alarm was going off during the night, multiple power cuts during the night and second day so that emergency lights in the room turned on a few times in the middle of the night
- This might have been the reason why we felt that the boat didn't sail the whole way through the bay as planned. Ended up sailing only about 1 hour during the first day, but no more movement during second day
- After the bathroom door of our initial room wasn't able to be closed, we were offered a second room (we were travelling with a group of three), which itself was a nice compromise for us, however, we faced the same cleanliness issue in the second room that the toilet was obviously dirty
- We saw multiple quite big cockroaches in the common areas and the room.
