• Jacqui (10/5): Family stay close to action but quiet - We wanted a nice place to stay for our family of four (2 teenagers) that was walking distance to the main town area but also quiet enough at night to rest. This accomodation delivered exactly what we needed. Located on the main street in the middle of everything but up a long slope driveway from the road it provided quiet in the rooms although there was plenty of action in the street. The adjoining rooms we requested were able to be provided and were clean, spacious, and provided great views over the surrounds. The bonus was that Alta Vista had recently completed installing a new spacious pool which was not currently advertised. This provided a great relaxing area and views of the town. The staff were very attentive to our needs and requests (including different breakfast eating times across the family). The breakfast was substanial and worth the cost, although there were plenty of alternative options available in the town if wanted. Walking up and down the steep driveway was a bit of a chore and hard work in the heat if carrying day bags, water etc, but vehciles and tuk tuks can access to the top if needed.

• Shani (10/5): - There is a really beautiful mountain view from the room. The hotel is in the center of Ella and in a quit location. Really big swimming pool and clean.

• Saloni (9/5): I loved my stay…It was very near to market…and the manager was very polite and helpful. - The property was in the centre of the market which was an amazing experience.
• Dave (5/5): Great rooms, difficult to reach but great staff and service - The rooms were very big and the view is amazing from the balcony. Washroom is pretty big and clean as well. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good so do include it in your stay while booking. Although the location of the hotel is on the main Ella street but reaching the hotel is very difficult. Firstly there is only 1 sign which is visible from the road but then there are no directions to the hotel. The way to the hotel is a 5-7 minutes steep 35 degree climb. So if you have luggage and do not have a vehicle then- “all the best”. Also do remember to ask for rooms on the lower floors like 501/502 coz 601/602 & 701/702 are on 2nd and 3rd floor which is again a very difficult hike.

• Chiara (8/5): Comfortable bed, convenient location - The hotel is very close to the center of Ella and to the train station, but it still has a good view of the surrounding mountains. Our room was spacious, clean and they provided us with a cot as requested beforehand. Very good breakfast and nice staff. WiFi didn't work very well in our room (first floor). Being close to the center, you can hear the noises and music coming from bars around.

• Rakesh (8/5): Pleasant stay - The hotel is a significant climb from the main road of Ella, especially after some hiking in the morning or afternoon. The rooms are spacious and clean, the shower is quite good. You can ad some more exercise since the accomodation has no elavators. And a tuktuk might refuse you to take you up from the mainroad. Here you will find many restaurants en lounge/ bars. After a long morning walk the staff kept my breakfast aside so I could have it before checking out, where possible re-heated. From the room with a great view on Ella town the music is hearable as if you were inside one of the 5 storey open-air bars itself. This continues only untill midnight. Less sugar in juice

• Matsunaga (7/5): Nice staff- they seemed a bit unsure of their operation. They could offer more info on trains, sites, tuk tuks etc - Location in town. Peaceful. Staff were v friendly and nice. Good wifi. The pillows were too high and mattress not very good.

• SRIRAAM (10/5): Perfect Homestay experience amidst buzzing location call and quiet, loved it!! - Location in the centre! Lots & lots of restaurants and cafes around buzzing with travelers! Very spacious rooms and friendly staff, excellent breakfast. It was a homely experience. Nice mountain view from the rooms. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

• Mohammed (6/5): Pleasant - We had a comfortable stay. The rooms are simple but comfortable and private. The location is great—just about 100–150 meters from the town center. It’s a bit of an uphill walk, but nothing too challenging. This is a very basic facility—don’t be misled by the fancy photos. As long as you keep your expectations modest, you’ll be fine. When we arrived without a reservation, the manager quoted a significantly higher rate than what was listed on Booking.com. So, we made the reservation through Booking.com right then and there. It was clear they weren’t too pleased about that.
• Srinivasa (1/5): Bad - The location is good, but you need to climb up to reach the hotel, for elderly it's difficult. There was no intercom, and you have to go down 3 floors to ask them anything, issues with tv, and no food in the hotel as we have to get it from outside. Overall it was a bad experience for the price for one day. I would have given negative if there was an option.

Property owner and staff were very cordial and provided personalized services beyond expectations. Prior notice of transport facilities provided to reach the hotel from the main road should have been given.
• Deepesh (7/5): Convenient option close to Main Street - The property is close to the main road which helps when it comes to food and walking around. The walk to the hotel is up a short steep climb. Rooms are spacious and clean but can get an upgrade since they are clearly old now. Breakfast was the highlight- the chef was delightful and took good care of us and our kids with the variety of food options. Rooms can get an upgrade

• Stephen (6/5): Nice room extremely poor soundproofing on a 1 in 4 hill plus stairs - Good size room with hot water and a comfortable bed The sound proofing was awful. you could hear so much noise from the other rooms. The people in the room above me were talking until 3am and it was like they were sat next to you. It is also on a very steep hill which will definitely bother some people. The noise from the town is also very loud until around midnight and as the doors and windows don't shut properly you can hear it as if you were there.

Each dish was well prepared by the chef with interesting mix of flavors and spices. Assortment of fresh fruits and sweets were also served. The climb to the hotel was too steep for me.
• Samooshi (10/5): Delightful stay at Alta Vista - Hidden Gem in the heart of Ella Town - As two female travelers, we felt completely safe at this property, which is ideally located just a few meters from the heart of Ella town. The staff were outstanding, providing exceptional service throughout our stay. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The breakfast was a highlight—delicious and incredibly generous. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and only wished we could have stayed longer! Only the climb up the driveway which was a bit exhausting!

• Tania (1/5): Could be so much better - Very close to main Rd. Very friendly manager and staff and great breakfast. Manager organised fast overnight laundry. Owner has done nothing to address complaints about noise due to weird ventilation shafts and slats above doors. Sound echoes in the big concrete stairwell and you can hear everything going on in the apartments next to and above you, and them using the bathroom above you. Very noisy and extremely steep driveway is poorly lit at night. Deep concrete gutter is not covered and resulted in my husband injuring himself.

• Faiza (7/5): Subpar, could be better if some maintenance work is done on the property - The view from the hotel room was very nice to wake up to, the hotel overall was very quiet which is what I prefer and the property was clean. The showerhead in the bathroom does not work. There is no intercom in the room, so no way to reach the staff. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. The staff are barely visible. The hotel is an extremely steep walk up the hill, which was very difficult to do during the night, but the walkway was well-lit however. We lost our breath and had to take a break like 4-5 times. The property is a little old, which is reflected in the bedroom furniture and amenities. The price charged for the stay did not at all serve up to the expectation.

It was impossible to go back to hotel from street level on foot. The hotel is very old. the doors, furniture, toilet were very old. There was no elevator. Tv was out of order.

• Cabraal (7/5): Excellent location but staff not suitable for possible improvement! - The location was excellent... right in the heart of the town but situated higher up so no traffic noise bothered us. View is not great! The standard of the staff was very poor. The person in charge was clueless about possible activities and couldn't give us any information regarding sightseeing. He was not aware of train times, how to get to 9 Arches bridge etc. Basic information that the hotel should be able to provide...

The walk up the driveway to the hotel and then the walk to the room. It was a killer and made you not want to leave the room, and/or hire a tuk tuk just to bring you up the hill. It is a hilly town though.

• Estelle (8/5): Very good - Great hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff very friendly. The hotel is well-placed in the city near all the restaurants and bar. Just one consequence, there is some music on late time because of the bars.

• Ian (3/5): One to avoid… steep climb and uninviting - Just off the Main Street in Ella town & only 5 minutes walk from the train station. Staff were helpful in their own way. Room was damp; bed linen was very old; floor was dirty and windows had open slats that did not close allowing mosquitoes in. Hotel, was very tired, noisy due to renovations & wifi was terrible. Also rubbish under stairs… all in all, not a place to relax.

Also too close to the noise of the restaurants and bars, you can hear it so loud in the room The bed was very uncomfortable and the whole bedding was misty because of the bad room climate. Also mold on the wall which caused breathing problems for me

• Giuzial (10/5): Exceptional - The location is very good. It is very close to path to 9-arch bridge and to the road to little Adam's peak. There is a good restaurant in 3 minutes walk. Breakfast was nice. Delicious fresh fruits and pancakes. We also tryed local honey. Other way we could skip it because we knew nothing about it before. Room was clean. Hot water provided.

• Evgenia (10/5): Decent hotel that provides great value for money - Very attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. They carried our bags all the way to the room and back which was very thoughtful of them since there were three floors of stairs to our room. They also arranged a car for us on our departure. The breakfast exceeded all of our expectations. It was delicious and nutritious, we weren't hungry for at least 5 (!) hours each time. The room has a great view and did I mention that the staff was amazing? It would be nice to add a chair or two inside the room and a warm blanket. Old furniture and doors look cool and stylish but they are squicky. I guess it should be easy enough to fix though. The bathroom would benefit from renovation, but it's still okay. My only regret is that I was so full after my last breakfast that I couldn't finish my delicious avocado shake :)

• Mairif_samir (9/5): excellent Location and value for money - Very good location on the main street of Ella . side to a tea plantation .. facing the mountain and near the jungle . you can enjoy surise ,birds watching and taking pictures of squirls and buterflies. calm and clean . Spacious rooms separated bathroom . AC and Hotwater working very well. the staff were helpful and smilling. very good value for money. as almost ella's hotels it is located on an UP hill you have to walk 50m of 45 degrees elevation. this is the case of most hotels. the furniture is a bit dated
