Guest Reviews
- Hannah (10/5): Tranquil, scenic, relaxing retreat away from the bustle of Ahangama town. - This was a peaceful haven, away from the busy stretch of Ahangama, but near enough via tuc (about 8 minutes). The owner was more than helpful and answered any queries I have, connected me with local tuc drivers and gave me recommendations of where to go. Service was attentive without being intrusive - the perfect balance. It felt like I was left to my own devices to enjoy the beautiful nature, scenery and stunning pool.
- Megan (10/5): Highly recommend - Highly recommended! The hotel was exceptionally clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help. Located just a short 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from the main town, it feels like a peaceful hidden gem away from the crowds. A wonderful place to stay!

- Gergely (10/5): A lovely place to stay in Ahangama - We had a great stay at this amazing villa. The atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful – perfect for unwinding.
Mahesh and his wife were incredibly kind and helpful. He helped us rent scooters, recommended great restaurants, and gave us awesome tips on what to do and where to go surfing. The breakfast was also very good and a great start to the day.
We can definitely recommend this place and would happily stay here again!
- rdsmrodrigues (10/5): Relaxing stay between nature and the coast - We spent 6 nights at Ebony Boutique Villa and it was a very pleasant experience.
The property is beautiful, featuring great architecture and tasteful decor that makes it very comfortable.
It’s located in a very calm area surrounded by nature, yet it’s only a 10-minute trip to the local beaches, perfect if you want to escape the coastal bustle at the end of the day.
The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was consistently good. A special mention to Mahesh, who was incredibly helpful and attended to all our requests with a smile. The pool is also a highlight; it’s very relaxing to swim while watching squirrels play in the trees.
It is a great choice for those seeking comfort and tranquility near the coast.
- Sally (10/5): Perfect stay ! - Great personnel ! Great view with a perfect swimming pool. The food was wonderful, I would recommend it!
- Céline (10/5): relaxing and calm - Lovely view, beautiful room and very kind people

- Thashrif (8/5): A calm and modern stay close to Ahangama, with minor areas for improvement. - A really nice property located just a few minutes’ drive from Ahangama town. The staff were very helpful, especially the lady who served us breakfast. A big highlight is that the property has only four rooms, which makes it very peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was good, and the rooms were very clean and modern. There was no kettle in the room, so there were no in-room tea or coffee facilities. While tea and coffee were offered at breakfast, even when we bought tea and coffee from outside, there was no way to prepare it in the room. We requested a kettle, but one was not provided.
An additional 3% was charged for debit card payments, with the option to waive this if paying cash. This is not a common or expected practice among hotels in Sri Lanka.
Also, the fan in our room (We stayed in a room named Air) was making a very loud noise. We informed the host, but unfortunately, nothing was done to fix it, so we were unable to use the fan.
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - Everything. It's so stunning, in a little oasis away from the town but a 10 minute tuktuk drive in maximum, the staff are so friendly and the pool area is beautiful. The breakfast was some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Loved everything about it Liked everything
- Paul (10/5): Perfect stay for anyone visiting the region. A relaxing and peaceful space with lovely staff. A short tuk tuk trip into - Everything. The pool, our accommodation, the staff, the breakfast, the location…… -
- Nadja (8/5): Beautiful hotel - value for money could be better - The room was nice and clean, also the pool and main areas were really nicely put together. The location was good because it‘s quietly located in the countryside of Ahangama, just 5mins by TukTuk to the beach. Breakfast was also good and the chef & woman who served us was really kind & friendly! Generally it was a really nice stay, the facilities were great and everything was clean. We booked a room without AC (in the pictures it had but the AC-tag in booking.com wasn‘t there) - it was clearly our fault but you should definately be careful about that when you‘re booking a stay. When we arrived the manager asked us wheter we wanted to use the AC and told us, that it could get really warm during nighttime, because we wanted it, it cost an additional 12$ per night.
Apart from that in our opinion the stay is rather on the pricier side in Sri Lanka (also compared to Weligama & Ahangama). Last but not least: when we came back from having dinner in the city we would have liked to drink a beer at the hotel but unfortunately nobody was around at 9pm.
- Howard (10/5): Brilliant stay in one of the most beautiful locations ever. It’s a bit out of the way from town, but TukTuks are easy an - The whole property is so beautiful, set in literally the jungle, the room was lovely and the bathroom was great as well plus a great pool area. And to top of all off the view was incredible. Manesh and all the staff were all really friendly and helpful.
- Svitlana (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent !!!
You feel a bird in a cage!
Rise feelds around!
Partots and peackocks
Management is kind!
You feel safe!
View is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahangama is perfect thanks to this place!!!!
Food is so cool!!!! Nothing
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Louis (10/5): Absolutely wonderful. - Where do I begin? First of all, I have to start with the host, Mahesh. This man is truly wonderful. He greets you with a smile and a warmth I’ve rarely experienced with an accommodation manager. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation itself is brilliant. Gorgeous room with a comfortable bed and outdoor shower. Clean and comfortable with a great view into the jungle. Mahesh has two girls who run the kitchen and they serve a delicious breakfast with a smile. The location is a short scooter or tuk tuk ride into town and if you want you have a lovely pool to relax at. Mahesh is one of a kind. Always on hand to give advice on the surrounding area, places of interest etc. He even gave us gifts before we left and has a cheeky smile that lights up the place. I cannot recommend this place enough. Nothing. Just get it booked.
- Tina (10/5): Amazing. - Beautiful place, amazing pool, bright and big rooms with outdoor shower, comfortable bed and delicious food. Highly reccomend! Will deffinetly return if in Ahangama. Amazing place with peacefull energy!
- Dominic (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay in a stunning location - Beautifully built property, in a quiet and tranquil location. The food made by the on call chef is absolutely amazing. Lovely relaxing, quiet, atmosphere. Rooms are well equipped and very clean. The outdoor bathroom and shower are very very cool! Not a proper bar set up yet but this was due to delays with Sri Lanka government approving their license, will be sorted soon o imagine however.
Being cash only was a bit inconvenient as it meant we had to keep hitting ATMs. Seems like paying for the stay online before the stay would easily solve this.
- Jeroen (8/5): Very good -
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anton (9/5): Amazing Stay 🤩THANK YOU 🤍 - Nice place with a warm welcome. We checked out late, and the staff made us a wrap even though the kitchen was closed because we were hungry, which we really appreciated. The outdoor bathroom and pool were lovely, and the breakfast was very tasty. Do not hesitate to book a room here—you won’t regret it! We wish we could have stayed longer! The location is a bit remote and a little far from the beach if you want to walk, but with a driver, it was no issue at all—only about 10 minutes away. It’s a really calm and peaceful area.
- Savchenko (10/5): Excellent villa where you feel yourself as a bird in the nest - Excellent place! Highly recommended!!!!! You leave on the hill with 2 glass walls.
Very intelligent people!
Very kind, not botherring you.
Very good mannered.
you have own house situated opposite rise fields.
Peackoks around!
Food is excellent!
Views are stunjing!
Easy to reach even to galle fort I liked all!!!! Wanna come back!
If I knew it before, I could stay here all week!!!!!
- Tooba (7/5): Good - Great location Bad WiFi and no option to order cappuccino coffee - only black Sri Lankan coffee is available in breakfast. Not much flexibility in breakfast
- Lauren (9/5): Superb - We really loved our stay here. The room was beautiful, the staff were so kind, the pool area was so relaxing. We enjoyed waking up everyday to take a swim and then enjoy a delicious breakfast. Nothing!
- Lenka (10/5): great - live the view and the silent chill time i had there. beautiful space, beautiful stuff and great room. Spacious and comfortable. Very pleasant experience. thank you
- Renata (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Samina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edris (10/5): exactly is my first choice to come back - i like the manager mr mahesh very nice guy to help you; location was nice and calm very good view and specially recommend for those who wants relax nothing just better if had conditioner
- Suparna (9/5): Great place !!! - There's so much to love about this place! The location is super convenient - not too far away from beaches but far enough to not be noisy and crowded. Mr Mahesh arranged a scooter for us which made travel really easy. The property is gorgeous - rooms are spacious, bathroom has wonderful hot water and they provide luxurious toiletries.
The swimming pool is beautiful and so fun. Watching sunsets from the balcony is quite a treat. The food provider by the restaurant is yummy - specially loved the Srilankan rice and curry meal. I hope once the place settles a bit, they can bring in more flexibility around food. We had to plan and order food in advance else they couldn't provide us anything which was a bit challenging since we had to find local restaurants. I'm sure it's temporary till the place grows.
- Chris (8/5): Great property, however be aware of the confusing A/C description - Beautifully designed rooms in a super quiet location with a fun pool and nicely made up property. Delicious breakfast served from a friendly Sri Lankan cook, however small portion sizes. The booking.com description is not clear as air conditioning is stated as a facility, however only the 2 more expensive rooms have A/C. Though the rooms are otherwise identical, a hefty 25 USD "electricity" charge for an A/C upgrade was asked.
- Lilly (10/5): Hidden gem - Beautiful property. Excellent food (breakfast, snack and dinner). Spotless rooms. Amazing bathroom. And the atmosphere were so relaxing - we regret not staying more than 2 nights.
Just a short tuk tuk ride to town with nice beach restaurants and bars.
- Mark (10/5): A paradise in Ahangama! - This is a truly idyllic place to stay. The attention to detail in everything is exceptional. If you are looking for somewhere luxurious to relax & unwind, look no further! The rooms are airy & spacious, and sitting on the terrace watching the birds & listening to wildlife is just perfect, from first thing in the morning to the sun setting in the evening.
The pool area is immaculate & it was lovely to spend relaxing by the poolside or dipping in the water.
We loved the big, private outdoor shower & the many unexpected added touches like the aromatic shower gel & shampoos- everything feels like a special treat!
Petra & Mahesh, and all the staff, are extremely accommodating, friendly & happy to help with anything you might need.
The food is absolutely delicious too- don’t miss the Chefs Curry or homemade ice creams!
And if you like walking, there are loops you can take walking on the roads around the village & nearby local tea plantation.
The beach & town are 5 mins in a Tuk tuk so very easy to access for restaurants & shops. We loved everything!
- Simon (10/5): Feet up and relax for a few days. Perfect - The perfect place to stay for a bit of quiet indulgence. We stayed after a busy few days walking in Ella and Ebony was ideal for a relaxed couple of days.
Hosts and staff were wonderful
Sitting around the pool was quiet and chilled
Food was amazing
Outside shower was wonderful and was used regularly.
Great few days
- Margaret (10/5): Fabulous - Photos do not do this stunning property and location justice which is spotlessly clean.
The owners are the sweetest couple and with their staff work very hard and take so much pride in this recently built hotel.
Sat on the edge of the jungle you can spot all kinds of wild life and beautiful birds.
Whilst it is the perfect place to rest and relax the area also offers things to see and do. It is lovely to take a walk around the nearby village and a few minutes drive away is a lovely tea plantation.
Food is excellent and varied and the tuna steak is a must.
If you are thinking of booking here do not hesitate.
Our only regret is that we did not stay longer and highly recommend you to stay.
You will not be disappointed.
Thank you Petra & Mahesh for making us so welcome. This really was one of our most favourite places to stay and we would love to return one day. Nothing
- Samantha (10/5): Beautiful, quiet comfortable with gorgeous hosts - Absolutely beautiful place the host were so lovely and accommodating we didn’t want to leave
- Neyland (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (10/5): Relaxing time in short way from the shore - We loved spend couple days this villa. Everything was fresh and clean. Yard was beautiful with calming pool.
Owners and stuff was very helpfull and chatty. We really recommend this place if you want small quiet place to relax. They have also massage in the room if you want. Would be nice to have mirror inside too the room, not only outdoor bathroom. 😊
- Phillip (10/5): One word: Perfect - Pretty much everything was tip top. Food insanely delicious - most of it very local. Staff; from chef, host, manager to gardeners were all extremely kind, helpful and “can do”. if anything - making you feel very much at home. The surroundings were beautiful and the places finish was top tier! Thanks guys We loved everything!
- Mizrahi (9/5): Superb -
- Ellen (10/5): Hidden gem - We stayed 4 days at Ebony and felt very welcome by Petra and Mahesh. The daily breakfast was fresh, and you could choose every day. The location is more inland, but nestled between rice paddies and more quiet, nature noises of peacocks, monkeys, and other birds. It truly felt like paradise. Because we wanted a bit more freedom, we asked Mahesh to get us a scooter, which was no problem at all. That way we were at several restaurants of Anhangama in 5 mins. They do offer to cook for you if you want to enjoy this paradise a bit more, and do not want to leave the premises. We are definitely coming back! Nothing at all
- Oleksandra (10/5): Beautiful small resort in the middle of the jungle - New hotel in the middle of the jungle. The best property in the area. Super clean! Minimalistic interiors, friendly stuff. Amazing restaurant, had the best tuna steak :D
- Lukas (10/5): Exceptional - The room is very elegantly furnished and the pool surrounded by nature mesmerizingly beautiful. The staff is super friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay very much. To top it off the delicious breakfast left nothing to be desired. Highly recommended.
- Dawntodusktravels (9/5): Superb - this is a new build (having been completed only a few months before i arrived) and is beautifully designed. Coming from a design background i could appreciate the landscaped garden and having placed the rooms on the top of the hill you get the natural breeze making the rooms very cool, light and airy. The outdoor shower was amazing, and really hot! (Normally its lukewarm or non existent). The large bed was very comfortable and the incense sticks provided were a bonus in the evenings to ward off the bugs. The fridge and kettle were much appreciated.
The pool was just amazing, i swam laps or just floated while watching the resident birds, peacocks and little squirrels.
Breakfast has a whole menu, from continental, local, pancakes to smoothie bowls. You can choose what you want ahead of time and any dietary needs are met. The lunch and dinner menus are equally varied and the chef does a beautiful job.
Mahesh the manager is always on site, or easily reachable via whatsapp, and they also have a van to do trips and airport runs in.
Being easily reachable was very much appreciated when one night before going to bed a very large spider had gotten into the room somehow, and being terrified of them mahesh graciously came and chased it out of the room at such a late hour (sorry mahesh 😅)
I came to this hotel after some personal problems and needed to just pause, this was the perfect place to relax and do just that. It was a short 5-7 minutes tuk into town and i would definitely stay here again when in ahangama. I have internet issues wherever i go in this country, and for the first 2 days it would not work here. Mahesh solved the problem but then my last 2 days it stopped working again for no obvious reason.
Irs not a big issue as ants come as part of the life here, but they were coming into the veranda on on the wall of the room (away from me). Mahesh said they regularly do pest control.
- Henrike (9/5): Delightful stay - We had an outstanding experience at the Ebony Boutique Villa. The rooms were clean and very stylish designed. We had a beautiful view of the pool from our terrace. Mahesh was really welcoming, provided delicious breakfast and gave us great recommendations. -
- Duaa (10/5): My favourite stay in srilanka! - The most beautiful stay I had in srilanka. I booked initially for one night but ended up extending my stay for a whole week. It's a hidden gem in the middle of the rice fields, you hear the birds while you sleep and you wake up to the most beautiful view, the rooms were spacious and extremely clean, the food was fantastic, the owner is one the kindest and wisest people I have ever met, he took care of me and made sure I was feeling safe and comfortable since I was travelling on my own, the pool was my favourite part I spent most of the time hanging out there, Wifi is very strong, the walk or the scooter ride into ths city is so beautiful, you see peacocks, cows and birds everywhere. If you're looking for a place where you can disconnect and have some peace of mind and privacy. This place is for you ✨ Nothing everything was perfect
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional - Most beautiful accommodation I had in Sri Lanka in 3 weekends. Incredible rooms. Very intimate with only 4 rooms. Impressive view. Nice pool. Delicious food. The local host is one of the kindest people I met. Supported with Ayurvedic tea that really helped to fight a cold. Had some many tips for everything. I would book it over and over again. No walking distance to beach but that’s okay.
- Susanne (10/5): Hidden gem in the rice fields of Ahangama - Villa Ebony is a brand - new boutique villa, nestled in between rice fields and with a great view into the jungle. I was planning to stay 2 nights only and ended up staying for 5 as I loved the calm atmosphere and the outstanding quality of my room and service. Mahesh and his team take great care of their guests and offer delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s the perfect place for anyone looking for relaxation while enjoying some luxury. Nothing - it was all perfect and exactly what I would ask for.
